Aye, aye, captain!

Thanks for the info, I don't think I need anything else... Jazz basically wanted to know that the place is alright for a secure meeting.

Heads up all you Southerners. I am having computer problems of an unknown origin. I have checked my internet connection and my monitor which are clean. I can't pin down if the problem is hardware (4+ year old home made computer) or software (my wife downloads way too much random stuff). I will try to post as much as I am able; however, be aware that it will most likely be spotty until I get this fixed.
Thanee
Thanks for the heads up. And good luck sorting out your computer problems! smile.gif

In the meantime, I have updated my last IC post with what Jazz is planning to do.

@ Thanee

Thanks for paying attention to the OOC board. It would appear after a visit from the "computer doctor" that I am in need of a new computer. Hopefully, I will be able to take care of it this week.

Please let me know what specifically Jazz is looking for. She'll need to access (or hack) the central node.
Thanee
For now I would like to figure out how secure it seems to be, and figure out a way in (i.e. probing the target for hacking in).

I'm watching too. nyahnyah.gif
I'm just really wrapped in in the culmination of the first implementation phase of a project that has consumed most of my time at work since October... and is now consuming 12+ hours of my days..

As to your computer... Steer clear of Vista is you can. I had been trying to avoid it. This week I had a client who had no choice due to time and availability... What a bloated pig mess of an OS...

I will post next myself in the next day or so.
2bit
well i'm definitely paying attention to the OOC, I just have nothing to say at this point nyahnyah.gif It really should take at least an hour for Vick to get his stuff.
ludomastro
@ Thanee

K - I don't have my book (or my notes) on me at work so I will get back to you this evening, I hope.

@ Redjack

Vista = dead.gif
I'm sticking with a homebuilt running XP.

@ 2bit

Ok. Point taken.

@ All

I should have my new computer by Friday.
ludomastro
I'm posting from work today.

@Thanee

All Jazz finds is a standard system. It is a device rating 3 and was designed as simple home security and connects the house with the clubhouse. There are a few weaknesses that could be exploited.

@ All

I am having my computer rebuilt so I won't be able to post for a few days. For most of you that should not be an issue as you don't normally post on weekends. I should (in theory at least) have my computer back on Saturday.
ludomastro
I'm back and the computer is better than ever. Game on!
Thanee
With her knowledge of Security Systems, maybe Jazz knows the system used here, which might help in spotting any 'customizations'.

She will take her time to probe the target (takes a few hours IIRC) then hack in later to make sure that the security system can't be used to spy on them in the house.

Matrix Perception 4 hits

Jazz mainly wants to find out the capabilities of the node/installed system, especially what kind of information is sent to the clubhouse from here (i.e. anything capable of observing/recording what happens in the house).

And of course, she will remove the traces of her tampering from the security logs (p. 225).

The speakers built into the wall come to life and a sultry feminine voice says,

@Alex - Who is this directed to?
Thanee
I thought that happened when we went in. Like a friendly welcome. wink.gif
ludomastro
In answer to both of you. The voice came on shortly after Jazz started probing the system. It is presumably directed to whomever is in the house. Since, I didn't make it clear, someone should answer the nice lady.

@ Thanee

Jazz's foray into the system reveals that there are hidden motion sensors that track where people are located and mics that record when someone is speaking. They can be accessed from the clubhouse for live monitoring and the feed is recorded there.
Thanee
That doesn't come unexpected. smile.gif

As for the encryption keys... I just figured it would be kinda pointless to use one when you send it over an unencrypted network first, in order for the recipients to be able to decipher the sendings. wink.gif

Bye
Thanee
Redjack
Actually with an encryption key pair the way it works is that you have a public and a private key. You give everyone your public key, with which they encrypt data to you and you decrypt with your private key. You could connect to my com, unencrypted install an encryption program, generate a key, download my public key, upload your public key and away we go. As long as the private key files are not compromised this is a reasonable way to set it up.

Once the encryption level is raised, the truly paranoid would quickly change all system account passwords as well.
Thanee
Yeah, but do ya'll have Encryption software? I just think Jazz would have to set something up and it's just safer via direct access. smile.gif

"Hello Dean. Jazz is tied up checking on the target's host node. Vick went for his gear. Seen anyone else?

This was the post I was referencing.

It's official - ErrosCallidus had to bow out due to work.

Group vote - Shall we keep Carron Dalton (the rigger) in the game as an NPC or have him fade away?

Unless Jazz want's to be the team driver... and we have extra wheels, I say we keep him.

@Alex
Next question, kinda silly but goes toward the rp aspect:
Is there food and beer (and if there is beer what kinds: Cheap domestics, imports, micro brews, etc) here?
Cedric Rolfsson
I say we keep him as an NPC simply to provide transport, and maybe drone support since it's likely we'll need both.
Thanee
Sorry to hear that about ErrosCallidus. Sure would have been fun. smile.gif

Riggers make good support NPCs...

Beer: Nope, nothing in the fridge. Perhaps the nice disembodied voice will bring you a beer.

Ok, the consensus seems to be to make Carron Dalton an NPC. If you talk to him please post his response. I'll post for him as needed.

Redjack
Can we get a better idea of Carron's skills and possessions?

As to the voice.... I'll... I'll...I'm kinda scared of disembodied voices...
ludomastro
I have a copy of his character sheet; however, when my computer was re-built my copy of Office got delayed so I can't open the excel file. If someone wants to deal with it, I will email it to you.

Since he is a team member NPC and you opened the door for us to post as him in some cases, I took a little creative liberty to get him into the scene. If that's not ok, I'll edit the post.
