Honestly, I've still got several pending questions with Fist(who is understandably busy) and I keep coming up with other character concepts because I'm currently stuck with this one. So, I don't actually know if he could hack it yet- though probably so, he isn't a trix head, but he knows his way around computers pretty ok- and if we don't get me resolved and progressing again soon I may come up with a completely different person.

Yeah, the main question is whether or not we are using Frank's advancement rules with the 100 karma or normal BBB rules. You originally said no, but it looked like we were in the recruiting page. I need the 20 questions list. I would like your input on the backstory I submitted to you. But yeah, I really need to know about the advancement mainly.

Franks BP rules are being used for advancement (even if we still call it Karma).

Also, be sure to read that whole thread (Franks rules), because he has alternate rules for Contacts that we are using as well. Actually, I think we are pretty much using all of Frank's rules in that thread. We are not using his Matrix rules though.

I run my home game by Frank's rules so none of it is new to me. The reason I put the question to Fist is I asked him in a PM and he told me we weren't using anything except Frank's build rules, then I read the recruitment thread and it sounded like what you just said. I just need to finish his sheet now, but I'm still waiting on Fist for something. Once I get that, I can tie things up really quick, modify my background some, post a revised version of what you guys know and wait.

I'm enough of a rules lawyer and role player to be annoyed by the inconsistencies in the normal BP/advancement system and enough of a munchkin to exploit it, so this will make things alot less complex for me. Sounds very awesome. Anyway, I'm down to detailing his contacts, trying to find a decent program to draw the floorplan to 'Farhaven' in, and spending his karma exactly the way I want it. Actually, that is not true, it makes my head hurt alot worse usually, and thus with school and other responsibilities I should say that, but... sex is funderful!

I can relate to that. Been subject to semi-constant, recurring migraines for the past 21 years as well. Sucks when they kick in.

DT: Maybe you should just get really drunk. I mean, if a hang over head ache is gonna happen anyway, might as well have some fun, right? That way, maybe you won't feel it so much, and you can pay a bit more attention to your ... ahem... 'social agenda'.

Without getting into the 12 year medical history, I'll just go ahead and say it has been almost 6 years now since I have not had a migraine literally every moment of every day. According to EEG patterns and my memories of my dreams I hurt during them too. Above and beyond that, because apparently I was evil to someone in a past life, for whatever reason medication generally does not affect me. I've been on over 120 medications, I think over 150 but I ceased keeping track, and only 5 of them have done anything to me. Normal blood levels but somehow for some reason they can't interact with my cells in the correct fashion to actually produce an effect. I also apparently have an overactive liver and kidneys because even the stuff that does work takes an insane dosage and then filters out of my body much faster than it should. As a result, to date, I haven't been able to get drunk irregardless of amount. Though I have never gone too excessive, two fifths of straight whiskey in under 2 minutes is the most due to taste and cost concerns, but sadly, that is not an alternative.

Also, hangover headaches are due generally to toxin build-up from impurity filled(cheap) alcohol and from nutrient loss and dehydration due to increased filtration in the kidneys. Anyway, drink as much water as you do bear, or twice what you drink as liquor, it helps if it is gatoraid or some electrolyte filled substance as well, but do that and hangovers will be a thing of yesteryear. I've kept my girlfriend from ever getting one and she likes(HOW THE HELL?!) Aristocrat(really low quality) vodka.

Possibly. I drink over thirty cups of coffee a day, average maybe one glass of water every month or so, and never have any sleep or fluid problems. Coffee is pretty much my only fluid intake.

*blink* Are you being even remotely serious? I mean your body can adapt to almost anything if you are consistent.... but DAMN!

Also, because I am a bad person I'm delaying for another day to fine tune equipment and because of these med school counseling sessions in Huntsville tomorrow.

In actual in-game news -- I have no idea how to post to this new place, because I can't be bothered to read up on all this virtual reality crap for SR4 yet. To be blunt (a nice change of pace), I haven't really given two tugs about decking ever since they got rid of naked decking in like SR2, so I'm basically flying blind here. Are our commlinks supposed to automatically be providing us with an 'avatar' (sort of a holographic overlay to our meat bodies, I guess?) and our 'links and/or cyberoptics and/or goggles or whatever are what's showing us other people's avatars?

While you were replying to my snazzy one-liner, I was busy editing my snazzy one-liner to admit to my willfull ignorance about the new setting and how this fancy new technology works. So this is basically just a bump, to draw attention to the rest of my post.

It could or could not display an AR Avatar for you, depending on what you select, but it would definitely use whatever image link you have (eyes/goggles/contacts) to display the AR around you if you let it.

Your Avatar or Persona is overlaid in other people's image links (or whatever). You can choose to have it active or not, just as you can choose to see some AR, all AR, very little AR, or even none. The interactivity is quite customizable.

The Persona itself can be whatever you like. Think SR2 VR avatar/personas. I am sure that commlinks/os's come with a stock Persona (MCT Sarariman), but the vast majority of 'interesting' people have their own, either custom, or a fancy store-bought program.

I usually gloss the Matrix over myself, and have been forcing myself to think about this stuff.

I have a feeling Fisty has it by now, and probably has had a chance to read it (I haven't even got half way through yet). So I'll ask about adjusting our characters (both positively and negatively) to be in line with Arsenal's new rules. What about it Fist?

Specifically I am referring to the (semi-dumb, but with some really cool parts) Martial Arts rules, and the Armor Capacity (well ... everything Capacity) rules, but also this can encompass all the new toys as well.

I don't know if he actually does have it yet, I know he was waiting on a copy about 4 days ago, so it might not have come yet, though he did think he wouldn't have to wait long.

I'm working my way through it now, and I'm pretty sure the other day he gave me preliminary approval for using stuff from it, subject to GM approval of course- but what isn't?, so I doubt he'll mind unless he hates those two new rule sets.

Don't get me wrong. I am not necessarily begging for either of those. They are just two things that I know will have an impact on my character if they become enacted (especially retroactively). There are things I want more, like gun stuff!

Well, I don't know anything about Claymore's skills, but I assure you, Haven can make any of the necessary mods. Subject to further tweaking of course, but it is looking like he is going to have somewhere in the vicinity of 20 dice on basically all B/R checks that are mechanical, armorer, or chemical in nature.
