See my PM for my (double checked) math, and my green-light request for a reroll.
And, in other news, I'd love to see a cross between Railroading and Road Rage. Railroading Rage, or something. Use the "melee weapons" rule from RR, and the "go kill Spikes" rule for Railroading...
EDIT: Crap. Or you'll post me losing the argument while I'm waiting on my double-checked roll's numbers, and permission to add Edge.

Ah well, that's politics for ya. *grins and posts, rolling with the punches*
Hopefully the sword-swap with Squire's okay. I rechecked descriptions and didn't see any of the other players carrying a sword -- for shame! -- and I just don't want there to be any doubt in anyone's eyes. Since I'd mentioned earlier Tain was teaching her how to fight with blades, it seemed kosher to give her a decent sword for him to trade her.

Crit - I posted to move along a bit, but if you're roll is significantly higher, or even manages to beat hers, there's no reason that I can't edit it.
Edit: Oh and Crit, remember, you can still use your sword, you just can't activate it to use the focus properties.
DT- I believe that, like Fortune, you were starting higher than the norm, thanks to your background. But I don't think we remembered to finish adding that in the final stages of making your character. We'll go with 2 points as most of his craziness was in the past unless you feel strongly against that and see a reason he would try to bring it down.
THe reason for the higher notoriety is becuase these are gangers and a certain level of notoriety would be expected, even strived for. Claymore and Haven both have some serious issues in their past that would build that notoriety as well (as did Bedlam, Doc's character, who was going to start with a 3).

I'm not gonna ask you to go back and retro-post too much, man. It's my own fault for flubbing up the initial die roll, and I think it made for a good couple of posts on everyone's part. I
did go ahead and roll those "oops" extra dice of mine (but left off Edge, to keep it from messing up the overall flow/feel of the last few posts we all made), though, so hopefully it'll help me out some in the future.
Ended up with 8 (total) hits, which beats the heck out of 3. Still not enough to overthrow anything, but enough to roll with the punch a little, in theory.

One of the reasons I felt safe with posting was because she got such an incredibly high roll. I figured you wouldn't be willing to invest the Edge in it, but there was always the possibility. Go ahead and edit in the correct dice just so we have it "on record" and we'll roll on ahead.

Got it and got it. And never mind what I said about the weapon foci. I reread and see why you're doing it. All in all, not a bad idea. 2 CSP.
Critias
Mar 26 2008, 04:21 PM
Since it's not a game where -- normally, though I guess they
could if people wanted -- "magic weapons" tend to glow or be wrapped in fire or anything, it seems prudent to just remove all doubt. With a "no active weapon foci" rule in effect, and the whole thing being a fight over questions of honor, it seems like a good idea to not use a weapon foci (active or otherwise) to cut a rival into little bitty pieces.

And...consider those CSP (once I remember the costs for knowledge points) spent on some gang-related stuff, for the record. He needs to shore up on that, and start thinking about the big picture. *grin*

Oh, I was just joking, man. I'm not concerned. I'm playing for the interaction not the character advancement. I'm going to read Elven Fire, now. Only thing I have read with him in it before was Wolf and Raven, and it just didn't give the impression to me that he was a caster. What with him sniping the Meat Junkies lead dog to disorient them and allow the Ancients to retreat and lick their wounds. Also, him being an arrogant jackass.

Mar 27 2008, 04:32 AM
No, the fact that nothing I had read mentioned him being anything more than a good sniper made me think he wasn't a spellcaster. The only indication of spellcasting in the Elven Fire intro is his sampling the mood of the crowd and that could easily be attributed to a perception test, not astral sensing. After reading Elven Fire, though, I stand by my arrogant jackass statement.

Hey I dunno if this is a good place to post or not but I've been playing shadowrun for about 4 years now, love 4th edition, and have been looking for a good PBP site to play at. I especially love the Seattle setting, and the interaction between all of the different sectors/gangs/corporations in seattle.
My question to you folks is, how would the Ancients feel about adopting a pet wizkid? I have a character concept ready to go with a history and everything, I just need somewhere to play hehe. The concept I have is a 10 yr old Tir Tairngire noble runaway, I was just thinking hey, that would mesh perfectly with the Ancients ^_^.
If not, I could always re-create my speedfreak elven adept named "Twitch" heh. Anyways, if you guys are interested in adopting a new player, either PM me or email me: dizmang@gmail.com

HISTORY:
Havok, which is almost certainly an adopted name, is a small elven boy about 9 or 10 years old. His shaggy red hair seems to tumble about in the wind, defying any attempts to tame or straighten it. His overall appearance appears as a mangy street urchin at first glance, but on closer inspection his clothing is actually made rather well, and armored at that. He is rather scruffy, but his eyes always seem to be off in the distance, as if never quite settling on the reality before them, and he often seems distracted. However, this boy has a quick and rash temper and the magical firepower to back it up. Watch out for hot bottoms if you piss him off! With his Lion mentor to guide him along the way, can one boy's journey towards adulthood end in success? Despite his youth, this lad projects a regal aura of self-assuredness uncommon even in someone much older. And with a powerful array of spells and magical spirits at his beck and call, who can wonder? He is known as a prodigy, and admired by many more accomplished shamans, but at his heart the lion's restless spirit drives him from city to city, abandoning his new friends at a moment's notice. Perhaps someday he will find peace and solace in his wandering heart. Until then, this urchin wanders the streets of endless cities without a fear in the world.
Born in the year 2060 to long-lived elven parents from Tir Tairngire, Alec was raised in a traditional elven family, with rules and restrictions. It was boring. He went to school at all the best schools, and got the best friends money could buy, but it was still boring and dumb. He kept failing all his classes, besides repeated tutor sessions and master professors personally training him. Alec's parents had almost given up hope when an elven shaman by the name of Gweedo paid their family a visit. The shaman said he'd seen the boy in an astral quest, seen the incredible potential hidden in the boy's genes. The potential for magic, old magic. Magic the family hadn't seen for millennia.
His family quickly shifted tactics and shoved the boy into Magic school, but even there he failed miserably in his studies. It wasn't that he wasn't learning, for almost as soon as a teacher showed him a new trick the boy picked it up, but he simply failed to do the schoolwork. Studying theory and formulae were boring and dumb, just like everything else. Oh but the magic! He loved that part. Again, his parents turned to Gweedo for help, and the old shaman had the answer ready for him.
"He needs to go on an astral quest and find his mentor spirit. Until then there is no hope for the boy." And so he went. On his astral quest, the boy learned much, and learned a much darker, more destructive side of his nature. He learned more of his ancestry, and of the great wars that were fought millennia ago between his people. There he also found his mentor spirit, Lion. Needing a change of pace, the 9 year old ran away from home.
That was over a year ago. Now he wanders from street to street surviving on what money he could steal from home and helping the people he finds. He recently found the shadowrunning community, and is currently "looking for work" under the guise of Havok, the Battle Mage.

Sorry crew, after the Post That Almost Was, I just couldn't get to posting yeterday. Then I woke up to Spring cleaning today. Ugh.
Green Lucifer - Yes, Green has always been a mage, he just tends to keep it low key. I hate how easy it is to spot spellcasting in 4th. Anyway, yeah feel free to read Elven Fire. I love that run anyway. Just keep in mind the diff between IC and OOC knowledge.
I'll get to work on getting that pot back together, but it's going to take me a while. Fortune, don't sweat the post it's all good.
Callidus, better get ome more posting in before Fortune yell "Witch!" though.

Havok: At the moment I'm not looking to add anyone. That isn't to say that I can't be convinced, but a Fortune said, I had wanted to keep this a small game. 5+ can get pretty hectic. Also, a 10 year old just wouldn't fly in this game. That's not to say that it couldn't work in
an Ancients game, just not
this one. I can go into that more later, but I need to see to this post to keep this game rolling.
Sorry for the loss in momentum guys. Hopefully the reincarnated post will be enough to compensate.
