OOC thread for The Ancients Thread. Link to House rules -
http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?show...=16111&st=0Sigs in posts are no biggie a far a I'm concerned but please stick to the color scheme and posting format for time/date stamp.
Characters:
*Aero - Mage - rose up from the Young Ones gang about a year ago - Callidus
*Claymore - Ancients all the way - un-common street trash with a hate for trollz - Fortune
*Haven - Mechanic and rigger, runs his shop that shares his name, servicing Ancient's wheels - DTFarstar
*Tain - Tir Exile, gryphon shaman and rather obvious about it - Critias
Feel free to use the OOC for chatter in general, discussion about how to handle things, including planning, or your best sugar cookie recipes. None of that oatmeal cookie shit though! I won't stand for that kind of waste of space!
Looking for posting every other day to keep a decent pace. My schedule for the next few weeks is 5am-1pm, meaning that I'll be WAY off my normal cycle. Then I go to graves and that will cut into my normal poting time, hence the slow down lately, and the post rate.
Again, DO NOT post your characters stats, but a brief blurb of commonly available knowledge about your character a far as others within the gang would know would be appreciated from each player for their first post in the OOC.
*Bedlam - Doc Funk - somewhere....

<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>Cast of Shadows</span>
Sting - Ancient's Leader - The leader of the Ancients since the mid -50's, Sting is the well loved and cherished leader of the Ancients, an icon throughout the Seattle Sprawl. Just ask any of her lieutenants, they'll be happy to tell you. Standing just over 6' tall, the fit elf cuts an impresive figure. She wears her (currently) black hair long and often straight, framing her young elven face, down to her mid back, in contrast with many gangers tendancy to wear their hair cut short to avoid it getting grabbed in a brawl. Her features are very sharp, a combination of years on the street, elven body types, and constant exercise keeping her lean and mean.
The leader of the Ancients isn't quite as hot headed a she was in her younger days. Sting tends to be easy going in most matters, taking things as they come and planning with a cool head. She's quite the thinker these days, forced into the role by Lord Torgo's unique "management style". When anything threatens the Ancients or Tarislar however, she is one vicious slitch, leaving no doubt that she is still one of the most deadly gilettes on Seattle's streets.
Sting has her own group of loyals, including many of the Ancient's older members, and a magical group called the "Lillend" or "Children of Lillith". They've attached the monicur of Lillith to Sting, their demon-mother who's kept them safe through the years by destroying everything that crosses them. It's not a perfect understanding of the old legends, but what is these days? The group is small, only consisting of 5 members, but on the streets, that's practically an army since they're entirely mages.
Sting tends to lead from the front, taking lead in the majority of Ancients actions, earning her the respect of many of the rank and file. She's done well for the gang over the years, also cementing an alliance with the 405 Hellhound's new leader Hel. She's seen throughout the sprawl as a solid leader worthy of respect, as she has held on to the leadership of the gang for over 15 years, longer than even most syndicate leaders have managed.
Green Lucifer - Ancients Lieutenant/ Sub Leader - 'Green' as he's commonly reffered to (when he isn't around or by the more disrepectful) is in charge of the Ancient's day to day affairs, while Sting handles the organization as a whole. She handles coordination of efforts with the other sub-chapters throughout the world, and he directs the efforts of the Seattle chapter. This direct control makes him the de facto Big Man, although he does everything with Sting's personal prior approval (at least, that's what he says).
Lucifer's hair tends to be worn short, with the front occassionally turned up into mocking little horns curling off towards each temple. His hair changes from green to purple to red , sometimes for weeks at a time, sometimes every day. Occassionally he wears it as it's 'original' blond. As he never makes any comments on it, it's unclear why he bothers with the changes. His fashions tend to be close fitting, with jeans or synth leather pants, and armorered , form fitting real leather jackets. He doesn't bother with the usual accrutements of street chic, such as spike and chains, but he does often wear a katana across his back.
Lucifer's power lies not only in his direct control over the Seattle chapter, but also through the control of the Exiles. The Exiles are a non-official band of some thirty to forty Tir exiles that have made their banishment a point of honor, seeing it as a badge of pride. They declare the Land of Promise as having to fallen into a state of decay, and their goals in bringing about it's final destruction so that it can rise again like the pheonix, better than ever before. Their greatest hate is for the High Prince, Hestaby, and Larry Zincan, in that order. The group has strong Rinelle ties as well, and does heavy smuggling across the border.
Lucifer himself is more of a director than a front line leader like Sting. He prefers to assign the right people to the right job, and have things taken care of, leaving him to direct (and some say scheme), while his tasks are being seen to. Recently, he's begun to have strong influence in the other magical group within the Ancients , the Ebonverts., with varying reactions among it's members. The Ebonverts tend to bemore militaristic, making them perfect for his sort of schemes.
Vixen - sub- lieutenant - "Lillith's Muse" - Vixen is extremely loyal to Sting, and one of the clique who's fallen in to the "lillith" mystique for Sting. Sting her self doesn't go along with it, but she doens't disagree either. Vixen is one of the most vocal pro-ponents of their Mother, and some rumors say her secret lover as well.
She's a little on the short side for an elf, ears her hair cut short and wavvy, dyed bright pink. She has a pair of small doe horns portruding from her forehead, making, makingher look vaguely satyr-ish. She's also a very gorgoues woman, which she is more than happy to use to her advantage.
Vixen is Stings go-to gal in most errands, although she has no oficial position in the Ancients. She tends to be more of a "lackey" for the leader, although anyone who would think to mock her as a Yes-woman would be going to far. Vixen is an adept, and also very vindictive. If you've never crossed her, she cna be your best friend, as she's very social. However, cross her once, and you're on her shit list for life. As her adept powers tend to be a mix of social and physical, it tends to be a bad list to be on.
Lulu- ork proprieteress - Lulu's Cafe' - Lulu is an ork woman of middle years (for an orc) generally regarded as a neutral party, although she doestry to do what she can for the homeless orks in her section of Puyallup. She's known as being generous and benevolent, as much as one can be this day in age. She's also rumored to be an active mage of some skill, although no one can recall actually seeing her work any magic. It ay be just well placed rumors to keep things calm around her shop. Physcially, she stands 5'8", with a full, shapely figure. "Curvy" would be the word for Lulu. She has no direct affiliation with any gang, although the Black Spears call her place their own.
Binary - A friend and contact of Claymore's, Binary is an old school decker who's proud of the name. She's the type that knows the names and specs of not only the old cyberterminals, but everything back to the advent of the commodore 64 and beyond. This elf runs with the Reality Hackers, but like that group, she has no problem farming out her talents as long as the job is interesting, and the cred is good. She spends an inordinate amount of time at a club called The Bar Code, using it's routing systeming to improve her chances of hiding in the wood work through illegal jackpoints, dated and well behind the tech curve, but also not something looked for as commonly as signal triangulation these days, to make her hacking just that much more secure. Don't let her flair for the dated fool you however. She writes her own code, and like most hackers that can, she can name her price as well. Luckily, that Ancients are on her good side. For the moment.
Spectrum - Spectrum, standing a 6'5", it very tall ,even for an elf. He's made of mostly lean muscle, giving him an intimidating look, although he tends to be soft spoken, and rarely speaking at that. Spectrum's eyes area custom cyber design, with no iris, slowly shifting from one color of the spectrum to another, hence his name. The shift tends towards lighter shades when he's in a good mood, and darker when he's not. He wears his pale blond hair long, often hanging in his face, giving him a brooding appearance.
Spectrum isn't known to be firmly in any camp. He is a mundane, and known to have grown up in the Tarislar sprawl. He's been an Ancient since anyone can remember, although his tendancy to be low key has kept him from going far in the ranks. Spectrum isn't a very active member, but he's one of those people that seems to know everybody, and a little bit about everything going on in the Ancients camp, as well as Tarislar.
Johnny California - Something of a braggart, you either love or hate Johnny California. Formerly of the L.A. Chapter of the Ancients, Johnny escaped El Infernio years ago during the quakes and eventually made him way up to Seattle. He complains about the weather constantly, but has never made any serious moves to move back "to the sun". Johnny may be a bit of a loud mouth, but no one doubts he serves a purpose. Raised on some of North America's meanest streets, he knows how to handle himself in a fight, and on the streets. He's a street warrior, with surpirsingly minimal augmentation, but very skilled with firearms. He's tall, dark, and good looking, which endears him to the woman that can take his attitude. Those who can't spend their days taking stabs at his pride. Their is definite animosoty between Johnny an Vixen, although no one's quite sure where or why it all started. Most say it's just 'Cats and Dogs' with them.
Shalamar - One of the Children of Lillith, the magical group serving Sting, Shalamar is a lean, dark woman of indeterminent age, like most elves She wears her black hair long, usually with one black raven feather tied into it that many suspect to be a magical talisman of some sort. Shalamar is native american, originally coming from tribal life, although no one's really sure how she ended up with the Ancients years ago. She's reportedly a shaman, following Raven, although she's by no means the quizzical and curious shaman most people expect. She seems to identify with the darker aspects of Raven, and is well respected and perhaps a little feared by those not familiar with the ways of magic. She is however, a loyal Ancient, known to provide magical healing, asking only small favors in exchange. She's not a combat mage by trade, but she does sling the mojo in combat when called upon. Most of her skills seem to lie in divinitation and intelligance gathering.
Slide - All elves tend to look young, Slide especially. An Ancient since most can remember (at least 5 years in other words), she still looks to be no older than perhaps 18 or 19 years old. She's petite, with short chopped blonde hair and a wiry frame. Normal attire is an armored jacket, well worn and patched from fire fights, and adorned with the green 'A' so common around the Squat. Slide is a known adept, and vicious on the streets, usually sporting an SMG or two. Although not officially holding any sort of rank, Slide has respect in both camps, and often leads hunting packs expecting trouble.

Lulu's Cafe - A sall caf shop in Seattle. Big Suprise. Lulu's has limited matrix access for anyone who wants to drop in, as well as decent drinks and real coffee for the few customers who can afford it. Setin Puyallup in the area controlled by the Black Spears ork gang, Lulu's has recently fallen on hard times after being hit by a pipe bomb through the window by Spikes gangers. Lulu herself, reputed to be a magically active ork woman (who knows what anyone
really is these days) survived the attack. But it's still unknown how the Spears will react to this latest hit on this well known neighborhood location in their territory.
The Library - The Library is in fact a converted 19th centruy library, now a Neo-goth club catering to the needs of hte dark and painted. It's fluted columns, multitiered balconies, and reputation for being 'haunted' all add to the dark grandeur of the place. On the weekends it's a hot spot for corp kids looking to be as goth-chic as possible, wearing the latest black leathers and white face paint.
On the weekdays however, THe Library gets more authentic clientele. It's a well known secret that vampires, banshees, and ghouls frequent the place, as well as runners doing business and the seedier side of the goth scene. All the leather here is synth, and the blood is real. This is when real business gets done, and the crop kids stay away.
A regular of the Library is an elf woman called "Mortuary", who some believe to be a banshee, although she denies it. Mortuary is something of a Seattle goth "cult classic". She's an attractvie, albeit pale elf woman of indeterminate age who has a quiet but strong role in Seattle's goth scene. She owns and operates the shop "Mortuary and Dweebs" in Downtown Seattle, bordering Puyallup. She dresses most often in black vicotrian gowns complete with lace, in all authentic materials. Her shop has a number of one of a kind items, including wyvern skin jackets, minor magical items (mostly of the amusing or sexual variety), and telesma. She's also reported to be involved with paranimal smuggling.
The Squat - A converted software development firm's building in what is now Tarislar, "the squat" serves as the Ancients main hq for their Seattle, and some say, world, operations, after the previous main chapter house burned down a few years ago. The Squat is a fourteen story (

) building, but is very wide, sprawling out over a good sized area, hence it's name, as it appears very squat. 'Squat' also being a slang term for home, such as doss, is a bit of a joke in descirbing the building that houses some 100 or more Ancients, and is in better condition than most of the buildings in Tarislar.
Many areas of the Squat are identified with different factions within the Ancients, including an area only 'authorized' for Sting and her leiutenants, a section where Green Lucifer likes to "hold court" and many other pockets for various cliques. Some areas are entirely off limits, such as "The Chest" aka "the War Chest", one half of the basement area entirely devoted to munitions and armaments for the gang as a whole. The Squat also does regular business in black market dealings and chip pushing, as some Ancients don't like to "commute", and so they bring their work home with them.
The Bar Code - The Bar Code is literally an underground club, tucked away in Puyallup underneath a deserted supermarket. The Bar Code has an industrial look, although everything (save the stairs for safety's sake) is overlayed with AR icons. The club is sheathed in full AR, more chaotic and throbbing thn sticking to any one theme. The music is fast and the club goers are hooked to it, more often literally than not. AR icons over club goers are the rule rather than the exception, and a visitor will have a hard time getting anything without goign through their commlink. Live sim feeds from club goers, piped in from Hollywood, dozens of matrix sites, and pirated trids are broadcasted all over the club's systems. For those in the business, old dedicated hard point jacks are available, feeding through fiberoptic cables and out into relays throughout Puyallup, put in years ago by the Reality Hackers gang, who spend a lot of time in the club. Whatever your technofetish, it can be found here, as long as you're willing to play by their rules.
Haven - Sharing the street name of it's sole owner and operator, Haven is a mechanics shop run by an Ancient named Dari'ian aka Haven. Unsurprisingly, Haven is run out of Tarislar, and specializes in motorcycles, both repair and design, necessary since more Ancients pay with a hodge podge of spare parts than actual cred, or trade in favors. Most of the work here is bikes, but Haven is set up to handle anything with wheels, as long as it isn't
intended to fly. Some demolitions work can be had here as well, as Haven the man long ago earned the nickname 'Pyro' for his propensity to play with things that go boom. If anyone has a problem with someone with such a rep working on the wheels that go between their legs, they haven't mentioned it inside Haven at least.

NOTESFirst Karma Award -
http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?s=&a...st&p=665029Tues, April 1st - 2070 - April Fools
The night began akwardly, with three Ancients gathered at a table in a caf shop, in another gang's territory in Puyallup. Called there by a fellow Ancient, a sub-lieutnant named Vixen, the three barely knew each other, and had no idea why they were there. At about the appointed time, a pipe bomb, rather than their appointment, showed up, smashing through the window. A quick and deadly brawl ensued, with six trolls from the Spikes against the three. The Ancients walked away, with some wounds, and a commlink they picked off one of the bodies. The lone (temporary) surivor had said that their leader had recieved a call from someone.
Using a hacker contact, the three were unable to conclude where the call had come from, but the hacker was working on it.
Back at the Ancients chapter house, they confronted Vixen, calling her on the ambush, which she admitted to. Vixen they asked them to perform 'some work' for the gang, with little explanation. Led by Tain, they refused. Haven, not part of the three, and previously recruited for this job by Vixen, was originally on the side lines, than enraged when she admitted to setting the Spikes on them to "test" them. The arguement led to a Challenge between Vixen and Tain, where the two rode motorcycles at each other in a suicide joust wielding monoweapons. Vixen lost, both the Challenge, and her life.
Update 5/26/08The crew heads to "FarHaven Garage" , the squat and workshop of the Ancient known as 'Haven'. There they patch up Tain and come to some sort of an understanding between each other, finding a sort of forced comradery. They head back to the Squat together, finding a mixed welcome between the two camps. Aero has a private chat with
Slide before they all head up to meet with
Sting.
Shalamar, a raven shaman and presumably a friend of Vixen's, is also present at the meeting. Some of the crew notice
Shalamar giving Sting surreptious nods as each member of their impromptu crew tells their version of what happened. Sting lays everythign down in front of them.
A hacker working for
Sting by the name of
Savvy has gone missing, after doing a hack for Sting. Sting wants his data picked up, and the decker himself if he needs it. Sting also gives them a commcode for a former Seattle Ancient who relocated to the Tir named
Halo. This differs significantly from the information that Vixen gave them (her instructions to be to find a hacker called
Seamus, and refer to a Portland Ancient called
Narse for any assistance). After some discussion about the possible danger,s they agree to do the work. Sting says that she can assist in clearing their path across the border by contacting an insider with the border patrol. They disperse to get some work.
Afterwords, a number of the crew disperse to have personal chats with other Ancients members and make arrangements.

Claymore
Nathan Sharpe, commonly known by the nickname Claymore, appears to be in his early 20's, and is quite good looking, at least partially due to a number of extensive cosmetic surgeries. Despite the surgery however, some parts of his body still bear quite a few scars that tell the tale of his violent life. Nate has a wiry build, though he is slightly below the elven norm in height, measuring only 1.85 meters, and weighing in at 77 kg. His dirty-blond hair is neatly cut in a short yet shaggy style, with a small braided ponytail hanging down the back of his neck. The emerald pupils of his cybereyes are faceted in such a way that they seem at times to emit a gem-like green sparkle all on their own, even when they're not catching the ambient light. His only other visible cyberware is a datajack in his left temple, although other implants are definitely present.
Claymore sports a tattoo on his left bicep of a pair of crossed swords with the Ancients symbol emblazoned over the top of them in neon green, with the word 'Ebonvert' ornately written in matching green on a black banner beneath. Another vibrantly-colored tattoo depicting a feathered serpent twisting around his right arm all the way from his wrist to peek over his shoulder, and in yet another, this one on Nate's chest right over his heart, a black cat reclines on top of the words 'Front Toward Enemy' written in small, neon green military script, its tail loving curled in and around the 'F'.
He normally dresses in street-style clothing, his preferred colors being the Ancients' own black and green, with the occasional splash of purple or lavender. Conspicuously absent though, are the multiple zippers, chains and studs that generally accompany this type of fashion. A matched pair of Ares Predators typically hang in twin shoulder holsters, with an assortment of other pistols usually hidden on his body as well. He keeps a pair of Ingram Smartguns stowed in his bike for emergencies, and has been known to occasionally wear a full combat rig.
Claymore is a survivor, having learned very early that life is hard on the streets, and that there is always another unpleasant thing that needs to be done. He has grown up cold and untrusting, with something of a vicious streak. Consequently, he has no problems at all with pulling the trigger, or doing whatever else the situation demands whenever the need arises. On the other hand, he can sometimes be a little over-protective of people whom he considers to be under his care, and has been known to take an interest in the affairs of the less fortunate elves stuck in the slums of Tarislar. Nathan is an impulsive thrill-seeker at heart, and has been known to jump into things before taking full stock of the situation. Although usually pretty easy-going among other elves, he tends to be rather more withdrawn around other races, believing them, especially orks and trolls, to be lower on the evolutionary scale. Claymore absolutely despises the Spikes, taking every opportunity to rally more support for his personal vendetta, and any encounter with members of the troll gang would probably result in violence. He very rarely fails to complete his ritual daily exercise and kata regimen, and when not working out or tinkering with his guns, Nathan usually spends his time at nightclubs and ganger raves of all kinds, but he can be equally contented when curled up with the latest firearms e-magazine or Ares catalog.

Aero
Aaron Jones, generally just know as Aero, is a slightly build, even for an elf, mage born deep in the Redmond Barrens. He shows a surprising like of scars considering that he's been gang member for more than 10 years, almost since he could walk. He stands around 1.8m high, about 75kg and looks to be in his late teens to early twenties, that and he suffers from a genetic issue that causes his astral signature to flicker and change randomly roughly every hour or so but can be faster or slower.
He's earned a reputation as a happy-go-lucky and fairly arrogant young mage, but also as a good healer both magical and mudane. Also he has a tendance to play practical jokes on those that annoy him, although few have every seen him set them up but that could be due to the fact that he seems to have a great attraction to air spirits and they tend to hang about.
He tends to walk about in a T-shirt and jeans, with a ratty synth leather jacket or long duster over the top. Both the jacket and duster have the Ancients symbol in green and black on the back along with small Young Ones symbol underneath in their orange and black colours showing his heritage. He also has a pair of electric blue tattoos on his temples on a cloud with a lightning bolt heading down to his cheek bone, and when he's out of the gang house his face is usually covered in black and white make-up like an old 20th century band KISS. He does spend a fair amount of time in the house zoned out on BTLs, but is always up for helping out when needed.
Critias
Dec 1 2007, 08:39 AM
Yeah, yeah. I get long winded, maybe, but oh well. Here's how he looks, how he tends to act, and a few handy facts:
Tain doesn't bother to keep his real name -- Rhodry รณ Maoilriain, sometimes with "Count" attached -- much of a secret, which means while he's obviously banished from the Tir he's not being actively hunted by squads of Ghosts or anything. He's got a street name because it's part of the game, not because he's out to actively hide from kill teams or lay low. He plays the street name game with a wry shrug, not seeming to care too terribly much about any sort of secrecy, but simply seeing the re-naming as almost symbolic. A page has been turned, and it's the start of a new chapter to him, sure...but that doesn't mean he takes the whole thing too seriously.
Likewise, he's not the biggest fan of all the Barrens-born shock factor clothing and whatnot your average ganger embraces so eagerly. Even Green Lucifer showed up (all those years ago) with a bright green mohawk and an assortment of demin and leather, specifically bought just so he'd fit into the crowd -- Tain hasn't bothered with even that much. The only time he's wearing jeans with holes in them is after a fight (in particular, one where he happened to get shot or stabbed below the waist). What few t-shirts he wears are simply synthcotton, solid colors (green or black, playing along with the gang's color scheme) and generally devoid of attention-grabbing logos or images. The closest he's come to a mohawk has been when his hair's been buzzed a little too short on the side, and even then he just sported a paramilitary "high and tight" until it grew out. He tends to wear simple, functional, comfortable clothing -- always in the Ancient's scheme to keep him from leaping out from the crowd too much or sticking out like a sore thumb, but by go-ganger standards his attire is dull, indeed.
The jacket he wears (with a bold green "A" on the back, of course) is of shiney synthleather, black around the torso and green sleeved. The shoulders are padded a little, the jutting edges of armor plating show obviously in several folds, and it's about as blatantly armored as you can get; he doesn't seem to care who sees it's armored or not, any more than he seems to care whether or not his clothing is outlandish enough to meet the approval of his peers.
Which isn't to say his heart isn't in the whole thing. He's as eager as all the rest to bring boot to ass in the name of elven supremacy over the Sprawl (more eager than most, in fact, to go slugging it out with any non-Elven gangs). Whether he dresses like them or not, he'll stand next to any Ancient that needs a hand.
He's a quietly competent shooter when firepower is called for, obviously trained and capable (and still maintaining his super-sleek modular HK rifle platform, using it when it's called for), but he really shines up close and personal. He's one of the nastiest blades in the gang, and with his particular sword ("a gift from The Scribe," he'll tell anyone who bothers to ask, a blending of old-and-new that's both monofilament edged and heavily enchanted) he may be one of the nastiest blades in the whole Sprawl.
Especially when he gets to laughing in a fight, and Gryphon pours it on and he starts tossing folks around like a Troll. Tain's a berserker, and there's no point in trying to hide or deny it -- when he gets going, he's strong, fast, and as blood-hungryas a fella about to OD on combat stims. His magic is new, less than a year old, in fact. It came out in the middle of a gang scrap, and he was as surprised as everyone else. Since Awakening as both an Adept and a more active wielder of mana, he's taken turns hopping from various Ancients mages for a little tutoring as time and boredom allows.
There are two things -- anyone who knows him can vouch for these two -- he just plain can't seem to handle. One is liquor. He won't touch it. Ever. Give him a little razzing for it if you really want to prod the berserker a little (go ahead!), but that's just how it is. He doesn't drink it, no matter how good (or bad) a mood he's in, how much everyone else is drinking, or anything else.
Secondly...for someone who hangs out with Green Lucifer's "burn down the Tir" boys (and who's rumored to have hung with the Black Sun branch of the Rinnelle, back home), Tain is very, very, specific about what sort of criticism of the Council and the rest of the Tir government he'll listen to. He wants things shook up back home, and he doesn't keep that opinion a secret at all. He's vocal about not wanting wyrms and halfers and furries on the Council of Princes, but he's been known to lose his temper -- to the point of brawling or nastier -- to anyone who's critical of Lugh Surehand or Ehran the Scribe in particular.

Think of this not as a hand slap, but as a prod to get you to write more.

Sorry to crash the thread, guys, but Fisty I have to ask did you mean MISFortune or MISSFortune earlier? Because let's face it, one of those is funnier than the other.

EDIT: Also, because I'm a stat whore as well as a roleplaying slut and I pay attention to too much stuff, are the character sheets for this game posted anywhere?

Haven't we talked about those duo accounts? Or is this for Wallpaper?

Chris - Both, it's a play on words.

- And no, the sheets for this game are not posted. I'm the only one that gets to see them all.

Doc Funk - I know you're swamped right now bud, so no sweat. I'll just run with this part, and bring you in when you're ready. As the only really established Ancients mage out of the group, you'd have a bit more going for you than the rest, including Aero who's still relatively new to the Ancients.
As far as dice rolls, I think it's going to be too much effort to jump through a bunch of hoops. Either link dice rolls from a dice roller, or put it in a spoiler, under the agreement that everyone will not read each other's spoilers unless it's noted above that it's "public". Please post your results out in the open though, so that it's easier for me.

http://www.shadowland.org/Shadowland/904/o...s/page1559.htmlRolls (I made a damage/soak roll, too, in case it's needed), but a question for ya, Fisty:
[ Spoiler ]
I was under the impression you could use Gymnastics instead of Dodge against ranged attacks, and between that and being able to use a melee combat skill instead of Dodge against melee attacks, I...don't actually have Dodge. In my die roll there I went ahead and tacked on my Gymnastics at the end of the roll, but it ended up not mattering (all my successes were in my first dice, not the extra from the skill). I just want to double check so I know for next time -- is Gymnatics right?
Fortune
Dec 4 2007, 10:06 AM
Just let me know if you actually want a roll from me ... and just what you think that roll would encompass, skill-wise. I'm thinking it is merely a normal Reaction/evasion test, but not Full Dodge (for which I would use Gymnastics). Not sure though, so I'll wait for your opinion.
fistandantilus4.0
Dec 7 2007, 11:10 PM
Crit - you are correct in that gymnastics can and does apply ewually as well for dodging as I understand it. Nice description too btw.

Fortune - post a reaction roll, but since your action is
before the actual blast, you'll have a much better chance of dodging completely. And correct, it would not be a full dodge since you're mostly doing a Move action.
Callidus - ow.

So, 1 lethal and 1 stun (after trauma damper). Just enough to piss him off.

On the (decent) chance it's initiative time:
http://www.shadowland.org/Shadowland/904/o...s/page1559.html (3 hits)
And...I'm gonna have to go home and study up on Summoning and junk like that before I can state with certainty what my next action will be. I think a Guardian spirit being all "rawr!" would be pretty sweet, even if it's just a Force 4.

Ouchy *8-< k iniative and action thingies below:
[ Spoiler ]
Initiative 6 - Wounds 2: [6] [6] 2 2 = 2 hits, final Initiative is 6
Aiming to hit cover, extend counterspelling to cover the group members (only affect those I can see) and cast Heal force 6 on myself to try and sort out the nail damage a bit.
Spellcasting: Magic 7 + Spellcasting 5 - Wounds 2: 4 [5] 1 3 [6] [6] 1 [5] [6] 2 = 5 hits, wow! leaves 1 box of physical
Drain Resist DV (damage - 2) 4: Willpower 5 + Logic 5 - Wounds 2: 3 [5] 2 4 3 [5] 3 4 = 2 hits, 2 boxes stun taken
Current condition (assuming this succeeds):
Physical: 1 box out of 10
Stun: 2 boxes out of 10

Crit - note that your base initiative is the number of dice you have to roll, then add in your hits form the roll. So your Initiative would be 13. Just elaborating on that since I think you're still getting used to SR4 rules, and I keep forgetting that lots of people arestill getting used toSR4 rules.

THe only people (person) incombat at the moment is Fortune/claymore, but initative from you two is still important since you have multiple passes. Thanks.
M rolls and actions will be in the IC section, to make it easier to kep track of. I would prefer combat rolls to be spoiler'ed/linked in the IC to keep me from having to switch back and forth on windows during a fight. Thanks.

Same goes for social interactions tests when there's a back and foth. Essentially , anything I'm goign to roll against/opposed with an NPC I would prefer be kept in theIC for easy reference Everything else you can ut here in the OOC if you'd like.

Got called in to work and I'm killing time on the clock before I stagger home and go back to sleep (fuck 'em, it's my "middle of the night" on my day off). If I'm off on anything below, attribute it to my lack of books, my new-player status, and/or just general grogginess.
Fact: Summoning still takes too many friggin' actions for someone as direct as Tain to want to do it right now. So, screw it. Summoning magical elven ass-kickers will have to wait.
I'm still fuzzy on when exactly we entered "combat time" (or if, in fact, I even have yet). I think the full dodge would've cost me an action, and by the letter of the rule standing up and talking (last post) would've cost me at least a Simple Action (so we'll say at worst that was one more full phase I lost) -- at any rate, I know I've got at least one pass left, even in a "worst case" scenario.
So for the record I'm flipping the mental switch to trigger Berserker (which conveniently enough doesn't affect my initiative), Quick Drawing (Adept power) some throwing knives, and then flinging the knives at one of the bad ugly non-Elves outside. I have no idea what sort of lighting penalties or anything I'm looking at for the attacks, so my die rolls (linked over in the IC post) are using my full pool. Peel dice off the end as needed if I used too many for whatever reason.
I apologize for the length of that linked die roll post, btw, too. But I had to quick draw, boost strength, attack, and attack again (all while keeping up a monologue to make sure I was doing it all right). I think it's all pretty worth it and cool, though, if I'm right with the total damage of 13 and then 10.

NO lighting issues as of yet. There will be smoke modifiers in the next round, but it hasn't really done much spreading/fire starting yet. No fire sprinklers in this establishment, for good or ill, and low lighting isn't an issue for elves.
Spirits comment was more directed at Callidus BTW.

I allowed for the action on the first pahse becuase of your skill at Quick Draw, and I'm ont very strict on speaking being a simple action, unless you're really taking the time to explain something. Besides, it draws some fire off of Fortune, who's going to need every dice he's got.
