So with the release of Ghost Cartel, I just want to say I plan on running that for our NYC campaign (with some adjustments for setting no doubt). So if you want, you can hold back on reading it so you can discover stuff in-game. But you know, it's as you wish, it'll be fun even if you read it, so no problem if you want to read it for yourselves too

Last game's summary
The team was hired by Detective Leighton of the NYPD. Leighton explains that a woman, Sarah Hernandez, recently kidnapped her own son from the private school the boy attended. On the way out, she shot dead her husband. But what Leighton actually cares about is Sarah's accomplice. The woman was aided by a shadowrunner, who later that day shot and killed Detective O'Rourke in a Hell's Kitchen safehouse.
The team was given access to the crime scene by Leighton. Sean and Jason met McDonnaghan and Katrina there, another PI team working the case. McDonnaghan had some friendly words for the team, but Jason's spells uncovered some discepencies between what he said and what he meant. The team did have time to notice some details about the crime, however. It seemed more bullets were fired than the simple version of the story told. Indeed, Jason was able to pick up casings from outside, were apparently flying drones had fired into Sarah's appartment.
Other requests for information the team had sent out to their contacts started trickling in, too. A definitive Aztechnology connection seems to be in effect. Sarah, her son and her husband were all Aztechnology employees, though Sarah occupied a post in Aztlan. The school for the boy is a private school, owned by Aztechnology, for the Awakened children of their employees. Sean and Jason are beginning to think Sarah was extracting herself and tying up some loose ends, but that is theory at this point.
Also, after running the picture of the copkiller around their contacts, the team got some info on the shadowrunner accomplices. The copkiller's name is Tripp, and he hangs out with Liam, the Oak Shaman the team had previously met while working on the Insect Shaman case. Tripp and Liam are known to be Freelancers in Manhattan (ie - not corp men) and to have a Robin Hood streak, though side from that, they manage well to keep under the radar.
We left off the team in a small Hell's Kitchen neighbourhood bar. The team still had several feelers out to their contacts, waiting for info, so in the meanwhile they decided to follow up on McDonnaghan's tip that this bar would be a good place to ask questions. So the two did so, and were told to come back later that night to speak to a guy called Burger, who handles the discreet rental of appartment units. Perhaps this man can provide some information about Sarah Hernandez's wherabouts.

Ok. Once again the 11th hour strikes. I've been trying to get concrete poured for my garage floor. I just got a call that the concrete plant met their minimum order to open on Saturday. My buddy is coming over tonight to supervise the final prep work.... Since it is my garage I need to be filling the role of manual laborer.

Game Recap
The session began with Max waking up and making contact with Sean. Sean laid out the murder and the team being hired by Detective Leighton and the fact that they were at a bar trying to make contact with a guy who went by the name Burger. Max set about doing matrix searches on Burger, McDonnaghan and Tripp. He found some sort of connection between Burger & McDonnaghan, but was unable to quantify it.
Two hours later, Sean & Jason are being escorted by a large troll (are there any other type of them?) to meet Burger. The plan is that Max with hack the slumlord's com while Sean and Jason bluff about being day laborers looking for work. The plan goes to hell when they go 2 levels underground and loose matrix signal. Sean improvises and tell Burger the truth, 'McDonnaghan sent us'.
Of course that was the worst possible choice. McDonnaghan had told Burger the duo are MDC agents out to bind him up and to kill them. As the ork's posture changes and he goes for his gun, Sean spins around seeing the troll doing the same. He punches the troll right in the hand, causing his gun to go flying. Sean turns to the ork, who pops a shot a little wide before Sean disarms him as well. Meanwhile Burger waddles his fat ass towards the back door. Sean attempts to knock the ork into the obese man, failing to move the mountainous meta.
Sean goes back and forth for a few seconds realizing that without his hands being charged, he's just not affecting these two goliaths. Once he does, he drops the ork nearly instantly. Several more seconds later, Jason's spirit locks the troll up in total confusion.
The duo then chase after Burger, finding the back door leads to a parking garage. Burger sends several wild shots back at the team as he dodges between the support columns heading for a door across the garage. Sean stops, takes cover and puts a shot into the door near the door handle. Burger then stops to parlay, explaining why he tried to kill them. Max is able to hack the com, but sets off the alarms and triggers IC. His sprite downloads the logs while he keeps the IC at bay, though an outgoing call does occur. Sean is able to get the name of the bar, Le Mesa from Burger but not the name of his contact. Max is able to get Jim Buffet from the com logs. The duo bail before reinforcements arrive.
At the bar, after bribing the doorman to get in, Sean starts with one drink but finds himself finishing his third while waiting for Jim's companion to step off. When she finally does, he approaches the man. A little emboldened by the alcohol, he bluntly asks about Tripp, claiming to be an associate trying to make a discrete delivery but ran into complications at the apartment earlier. He is able to get that Tripp is headed underground on the lower east side.
The curtain draws on the evening with Sean headed back out to the car wondering how the hell he is gonna find Tripp with that little bit of info.... and where McDonnaghan might be so that he can kick his ass.
{ Let me know if any of my details are incorrect. }

The Wild Side
Telling you how to party in Manhattan since ’65!
Well kids, you may have heard of this new Tempo drug that's been hitting the hottest clubs recently. Truth be told, this shit is simply rad, man. Tempo is a chemical drug (you can't chip this one, kids!), but don't worry, it's easily applied with contact derms for you squeamish one. All you need to know is that there's a little magic in every Tempo hit. You get glimpses at the Astral side of thing. That sure is pretty, but why we here at The Wild Side really recommend it is for how it makes you feel, man. It opens you up to rad vibes of those around you. And trust us, it doesn't get better than sharing a hit with a hot piece of ass in a club when the music is just right, and then heading to her place for a little sumthin sumthin. Your weekends just got a whole lot more interesting, kids. Just keep in mind Tempo is nova hot new, so the MDC hasn't gotten around to legalizing it as a class 2 pharmaceutical. So even if you've got a class 2 permit, it ain't legal for you to be hitting it up. But that just makes it better, doesn't it, kids?
Catch you on the flipside!

TEMPO GAME STATS
Duration (10-Body) hours, minimum 1 hour
Effect: +1 Body, +1 Perception, High Pain Tolerance 2, Astral Sight, -1 Willpower, +2 to all skills in the Influence skill group
User experiences an initial euphoric high and general sense of well-being not unlike novacoke (minus the twitchiness). This effect levels out as the user's senses are opened to the emotions of others around her. The drugs effectively taps the user into astral space as a psychoactive medium, allowing users to feel the ambient emotional energy around them while heightening their own empathic responses.
At the same time, tempo's serotonin stimulators produce mild hallucinations that embellish what its user see and feel, making them somewhat disoriented and suggestible. The combination of these two effects somehow allows users to catch fleeting flashes of astral space and auras while under the effect. Additionall, the dopamine rush produces a numbing effect that can allow users to tolerate more abuse than norma,, often with the accompanying feelings of imperviousness.

Ok, so what I'd like to do Thursday is a session with only Max, and it'd be a big Matrix run. I'll give in-game details when we get there, but basically I expect the run itself to take like an hour or so, so it would be boring for everyone else.
However, that leaves me exactly only Wednesday to write the material I'd need for the run. So if anything goes wrong, I won't be ready for the game.
So, Max, can I put you on stand-by for Thursday? I'll confirm either Wednesday night or Thursday morning if we'll actually be playing.

Well, it wasn't the power supply. Evidence now points to something like the CPU or motherboard... which means I basically need a new computer. So while I ponder whether or not I definately get out of the PC Gaming market in favour of xbox gaming and buy a cheaper computer, or shell out 2k for a real PC, I will migrate my Shadowrun stuff to my work laptop. So, in theroy, I should be able to shadowrun starting next week again.
