Mama Growby walked by the Cavern of Waterfalls waterfront. For a Troll Mambo she is still very spry. She glanced at the swirling waters; she shifts her perception into the Astral and smiles.“Yes I know wee one, those Humanis Goons were very surprised at your serving them for your meal. I hope they did not upset your digestion too much. The swirling waters seem to settle abit, and the Mambo walks away with a deep earthly chuckle, echoing around the Cavern.I am recruiting for a game of SR4 set in and based in the Ork Underground. I am looking for players who can post twice a week or more. Number of players is 4-6.
Here is a link to the Games Wiki page with character generation and house rules.
http://sr4orkunderground.wikispaces.com/Character ideas/concepts first, first 8 posters of such will get a chance to work the concepts/ideas into a working team of Shadowrunners. The Team Concept is strongly urged.
I ask that those in many games already, hold back and give those not in games or in few games a chance to play, if not enough post then, post your ideas/concepts.
This will be campaign set in the Ork Underground with the Team working and living there a lot. Many types of jobs/work are available there taking care of Humanis types etc.
One note, I will be also using this setting for an IRC game on Sunday nights for the after action news of the two groups will be shared. Interactions are possible but not planned.

Ooo! Oo! Me! Me!
Human doctor, recent arrival to the Seattle and the OU in general.
Skill Set: Medic/Forensics/Science possibly some Face thrown in for good measure.
Outlook: Pragmatic Humanitarian
Magic: Maybe
I have a couple of concepts I could use but I'd like to see what other people will throw into the hat.
Hmm... I need to look over my books when I get back from work but I think I might try to put together a physad doctor, possibly with just a dab of cyber.
I really want to play a human in the OU since I'll get to RP out all the racial tension down there... but I love playing orks

I would be interested in this game. I have an adept, Dancer, who might fit in well. Her background is already that of a Seattle runner who was born in the Ork Underground. If you need for us to actually live in the Ork Underground, that would be a pretty simple change to make.
Dancer
Description
Dancer is a petite but well-proportioned orkish woman who moves with the feline grace of a dancer. Pale blonde hair in a tousled pixie cut frames a deceptively innocent-looking face. She has startling bright green eyes, and a golden tan. Outside of nightclubs she tends to dress down, but she still draws people's eyes. Although attractive by human standards, she has not gone for any procedures to alter her orkish looks (tusk reduction, etc.).
Background
Dancer is a runner out of Seattle, muscle for hire, good with her gun or her fists. There are rumors she danced in some of the sleazier clubs to supplement her income when she was starting out.
Personality
Dancer's original youthful idealism has faded to a nonchalant cynicism. she has seen it all, and nothing much fazes her any more. She is cheerfully amoral, but in a laid-back, casual way. Her manner actually induces people to open up to her, since she gives the impression of being someone who won't be shocked or judgemental by most admissions.
Role
Dancer is a combat oriented adept specializing in close combat, although ironically, she tends to see it as a last resort when talking, shooting from cover, or running away are not viable options. Good social skills, not quite a full-fledged face but definitely an emergency spare.

Scab is a weasel, a fawning, simpering, ingratiating coward and weakling.
His parents were runners back in the fifties but they made their fortune and retired. Unfortunately they also made enemies on the Council of Princes and a year after their 'disappearance' they were discovered and killed by a team of 'Ghosts'.
Friends in the Shadows had gotten wind of the plot from the pattern of purchases made by the Ghosts from local Fixers but they were two late to prevent the car bombing that orphaned Scab. The existence of a baby in the vehicle was either unknown to or no concern of the assassins. Blown free of the wreckage and badly burned Scab survived long enough to be found by his parent's ex-team mates and rescued.
Spirited away into the Orc underground where he would be safe Scab grew up a lonely and persecuted orphan. Although his adoptive parents loved him and had sufficient status to force the community to accept him as a member he was forever bullied, side-lined and marginalised. He has never belonged and ekes out a meagre existence on the fringes of the community. He is not truly welcome anywhere, although he is tolerated everywhere, like a court jester, an oddity that is briefly amusing and never sufficiently annoying to persecute or expel.
He prefers his own company and the seclusion of his sewers.

Hi there, I'd certainly like to throw down and try and get into this game.
I even have a concept! Terri "Spike" Bernardo is both a Satyr ex-Lonestar officer who had a bad debt with the Mob. In order to pay it off, she had to turn to the shadows. Even after she paid the mob off, she stayed because of the people. She enjoyed working with shadowrunners more than the Lonestars and the money was much, much better. She was also tired of Lonestar's rules. They had too many. Now she runs with the group as one of the heavy hitters. Her unique style is also a sight for sore eyes on the battlefield, because when people see her shaved (With a little skunk style mohawk) and tattooed head, they know the cavalry has arrived.
Skills:
Pistols, SMGs, Assault Rifles, possibly heavy weapons?
Gymnastics, athletics, perception, dodge
Very good driving skills, could double as a vehicle rigger if needed.
How does that sound?

I'll throw my hat in the ring. I'm running a PBP right now, but I wouldn't mind playing in one too. If you want to see my posting style, check it out here:
http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?showtopic=21989Ork street sam. (no name yet, that's always the last thing I come up with)
He's a refugee from the Manchurian desert wars. See my take on his homeland here:
http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?s=&a...st&p=712333I'm thinking a relatively low augmentation, high skill, street sam. He was a member of one of the nomadic bike based tribes that operated in the ruined cities. He literally just arrived off the boat and has very few resources apart from a few pieces of ware that the network wired into his body. Lots of skills, very little gear. He's fallen in with the Ork underground and is looking to prove himself. Very unfamiliar with Seattle in general. He'll also have (effectively) a criminal SIN represented by a disabled GPS unit buried in his skull and some mystery cyberware. Hates Horizon (and other media corps) with a passion. Has a sort of Mad Max feel about him.
Gray

I wouldn't mind participating as well. I got Unwired at GenCon, and I am kind of enamored with playing a Hacker so here goes:
Glitch - Ork Hacker
Simon Wellington (Glitch) is the runt of the litter, the youngest child of a Seattle middle class Ork busness man. He has exceptional reaction and intuition, honed with a childhood of playing net games and amatuer hacking. This sedantary lifestyle has made him barely larger than a skinny human.
Glitch is on the run, having been marked by a pro Spider on his last "Great Hack", he barely got out of his dorm room before the cops showed up. His father disowned him, but his mother will send him money from time to time. He fled to the Ork Underground, where he does not fit in too well, having been a child of relative luxury. But the ability to jack a Soykaf machine and feed people, without leaving a mark on said machine has earned him a modest sort of respect. Glitch is somewhat of a neat freak, and has the cleanest squat in the sewers
Glitch's equipment includes a very nice comm, a suite of good programs, and a handful of fly spies and other surveillance drones. His years of net game addiction has given him fairly good marksmanship ability, but he does not own a gun. He is also a blackbelt in karate, becasue his father made him get out of the house three times a week to go to the class.
Glitch is a little shy, but he has good social skills when doing the talking in VR. In that environment, he can come out of his shell, and really shine.
Does Glitch sound like he'd fit in to the group?

Are you okay with us using the Restricted Gear quality? I am using it twice, once for a Cyber Shotgun, and for a synthetic torso with a Body Customization (which raises its avail over 12.)

Sounds fun, if there's still places available, i'd like to participate, too.
I'd offer an ogre druid from southern France (no name yet, for similar reasons as Imperialus) who has only arrived in the Underground recently.
Background is centered around growing up in a hippie-commune/drug lab in the Normandie, including initial magical training by a local druid, some time as a wizganger/rioteer and part-time metahuman rights activist in and around Paris that eventually led to involvement with the Anarchist Black Cross and various activities throughout Europe that ranged from medical help for changelings and ghouls to "direct action" against various right-wing groups such as Humanis and the Volksdeutsche Reinheitspartei in Germany or arms-smuggling in the Marienbad Council.
After increasing trouble with various European jurisdictions and threats to his life by certain Nazi policlubs, he decided to move to the other side of the Atlantic for some time.
Personality-wise, he'd be a bit abrasive, but hedonistic, also chaotic and unconventional, but at heart an extremely altruist person.
Haven't statted him out yet, but would focus more on astral scouting + spellcasting than chrizh's mage (with some conjuring thrown in, plant spirits mainly, as i haven't tried them out yet, but would love to), plus some additional skills to round him out.
Being a secondary caster, i'd love to try a more "hybrid" approach, focussing on a deliberately incomplete magical skillset (which would fit in perfectly with the character's non-academic training in magic) and a slightly stronger focus on mundane skills.

Well yes in a way......You can use the BP's to initiate your mage but instead of paying Karma you pay the price in bps. Note initiation can "Allow" you to increase your rating in Magic but again you pay the price of magic increase in BP's. I believe that will aide you consuming those excess BP's crizh.
Let me know if you plan on taking more than one rank of initiation.

So, for example, 5 BP's to join a group and 8 BP's for one level of initiation with an Ordeal?

This is turning out to be quite an exciting (if challenging to create) character... 90% done, just tweaking skills for the most part. I don't think I've ever crammed this many points of real negative qualities into a character before.
-10 due to Wanted/Criminal Sin (the network that 'financed' his tribe isn't too eager to have him running around causing mayhem in the 'civilized' world).
-5 High Maintenance Implant (his wired reflexes, 3rd or 4th hand Alphaware installed by his tribes doctor using an open flame both for light and sterilization).
-10 Flashbacks when seeing footage from the Desert Wars.
-5 Computer Illiterate (Inner Mongolia isn't exactly a hotbed of fancy technology)
He also has a Sim-Rig (currently disabled) that has a GPS unit (also disabled) that can be tracked by the network if it ever gets activated.
He also only has .24 essence, but spent less than 70K on all his gear. He's pure cyber, none of that fancy bioware that would actually cost the networks money. 2 weeks paid in a squatter hotel lifestyle, a pistol, an armoured jacket, and a knife.
As a consolation prize he spent 250 BP's on attributes and 186 on skills. If it is designed to kill someone, he knows how to use it... Just don't make him do much talking (etiquette 1). He can also drive fairly well, as long as it's a 'dumb' car.

Scab is a coward, a weakling, a weasel.
Shunned but at the same time a member of the Orc community. A blood debt guarantees his position but it is one at the very bottom.
However. Scab can get into anywhere. Or out again. You might not like his methods but if it's results you're after he's your man. Well, boy at any rate.
Scab lives in his own little underground, a network of caves, tunnels and pipes that he has formed from the living earth, most no wider than a beer can and flooded with water. But a few like underground Cathedrals filled with light reflecting from exotic crystals.
(I'm going to buy him a huge Necessities in Lifestyle that is mostly space rather than luxuries.)
Often when Scab's name is mentioned some experienced runner will lapse into Monty Python.
'He turned me into a newt!'
This usually raises a laugh. Most folks stop laughing when he turns them into a Newt and makes them swim through effluent.

I'll take the second reserve spot, just in case.
I've got an Elven face magician I've been itching to try out. Yes, I know we already have two mages and an adept, but he's a magician first, relying on his magic to boost his fast-talking abilities, whereas the other two seem to put spellcasting at a secondary priority. You can always use someone who's equipped to handle astral combat.
To fit the campaign, I can set him up as someone who could've talked his way into any lifestyle he wanted, but chose the simple life of the underground over the headaches of the surface. People down here need protection from the tormented spirits of the Night of Rage, and it's nice to be able to help someone other than himself. Of course, should that help come at the expense of some third party, well, that's just life in the shadows.
He sounds a bit like a rebel without a cause, but it's just a preliminary idea. I've got to take him from the top down with an actual setting in mind.
I had a quick question while I design things in the scattershot way I tend to: your wiki's House Rules page has a section on Capacity for vision and hearing gadgets. What capacity should I use for the components? The cyberware listings?

For how long do our characters have to be part of the same team?
Might be important for my backstory.
@ crizh : Mystic healing basically allows you to use Assensing to heal people if you have an appropriate knowledge skill for stuff like accupuncture, laying on hands etc.
You'd have to sink more points into Assensing and swap knowledge skills for that to be useful, but i could pick it up as well and you could use the BP otherwise.
Was planning to make my character the first healer/buffer i've ever played, so this would work perfectly, especially as my drain stat happens to also be linked to Assensing.
Until now, candidates for my spell list includes heal, decrease Willpower, increase Intuition, increase reflexes, stunbolt, mana static, one or two control manipulations and probably some more combat spells (yeah, i'm going for Spellcasting 6 and the full 12 spells this time).
I might throw in some illusions, too, depending on what mentor spirit i choose, but right now, i'm leaning more towards a mentor with a healing + plant spirit bonus (i think there was one of those in SM, might have to adjust fluff, though).
If anybody needs specific buffs, let me now, might have picked them up after working together for some time.
BTW, here's a rough first draft/brainstorming for my PC :
Attributes : 200 points, softmaxed WIL, INT and MAG, high EDG and CHA, good BOD, average STR, REA + AGI, LOG 2 (my first not-so-bright character ever...this is becomming more and more of an experiment- did i also mention that this is both my first ork PC and the first time i play a metavariant?).
Might hardmax Magic if there's enough points.
Skill selection :
Spellcasting : 6
Assensing : 4
Astral Combat : 2 or 3, probably specialization (mostly for self-defense while projecting- i tend to project all the time for some reason)
Conjuring : might get the skill group at 4 or just summoning, not exactly sure right now (yeah, i know how useful binding is...we'll see).
No Enchanting, Arcana i'd pick up only to join a group. Combined with the cost for getting a group as a connection, it would pay off only if i'm going for several grades of initiation.
Mundane skills :
First Aid
Dodge
Perception
Infiltration
are all sure bets, as well as some social skills.
Probably also :
Unarmed Combat
Survival
Athletics skill group
Gearwise, i'm going to load up on at least some foci (spell locks for healing spells are a sure bet, i'm also thinking about a power focus- might seem familiar to crizh, but damn, that's a useful combination).
Plus a lvl 6 lodge and decent fake SINs.
Besides that, nothing fancy.
A good medkit, as much armour as i can carry without encumbrance, a halfway decent comlink (prob. with some kind of agent), a Warhawk carried only to intimidate people and to not stick out as the mage...oh, and lots of drugs.
Hurlg mostly, but also some other, mostly awakened, stuff.
Wonder how our ex-cop thinks about that (or my character's former enjoyment of street fighting with the police, for that matter).

For how long do our characters have to be part of the same team?
Might be important for my backstory.
How far back is entirely up to you the players and your character/concept/idea.

Mongol is built like a bull. He'd likely be the most recent addition to the team. It's possible he's a replacement for a dead member. This would also explain why he's the only real street sam type character. If you'd rather him be more established within the team I can do so. I'd likely have to tweak him a bit more. Lower a few skills, and get him some more gear.
He came to Seattle after his tribe was destroyed in the Mongolian desert wars. He bribed a member of the 10,000 Daggers mercenary organization that he had worked with in the past (if there is another merc type concept this contact could be a PC) to help smuggle him onto a cargo ship as a seaman. He quickly fell in with the Ork Underground seeing them as the largest and most powerful tribe in Seattle that might be able to make use of his skills. The fact that a fixer associated with the OU was also the only com-code he had on his arrival helped. He's spent the past few weeks doing small jobs for them trying to ingratiate himself into the organization and he seems to have enough potential to be of real use to the Underground. I'm still a bit fuzzy as to how all the dots will fit together but I'll be able to work it out.
As far as role within the team. Mongol is muscle, pure and simple. He has the Firearms group, Close Combat Group, Heavy Weapons, and Demolitions. He's also got the Stealth and Athletics groups so he is almost as good at sneaking over a wall as he is at firing an anti-tank rocket. He's a very versatile combatant, and while he's far from optimized he can fill just about any role in a fight reasonably well. He's got a reasonable willpower so mages and the like aren't a massive threat.
*edit* he can also drive reasonably well, though he doesn't own a vehicle. Again, that would be a priority for him.
What he is not, is a Face. His native language is Chinese, and he only has 2 ranks in English, 4 in Or'zet. He also has a Charisma of 2 and an Intimidate skill of 2. No Etiquette. He doesn't know enough about Seattle culture to avoid putting his foot in his mouth. This would be a priority for him to advance with Karma however. He's not actually rude or unfriendly, just out of his element.
The other thing he is not is a Hacker. He has the Computer Illiterate negative quality, and a stock CMT Clip running Redcap Nix. The only gear of his that can be affected by hackers however is the smartlink in his glasses. The rest of his ware is passive. Still though, he's going to need a hacker to hold his hand, even to figure out how to deposit his earnings into a bank account. Black Tar Heroin (or it's 6th world equivalent) and ammunition is the currency he's used to.
Despite his lack of social skills he will try very hard to give a good impression to the team. He knows he's low man on the totem pole and is very loyal to people he adopts into his 'tribe'. He's looking for a new family and a new purpose in life and the Ork Underground seems to be his best bet.
He also has an intense hatred of most of the major media corps, Horizon is the target of most of his anger, he has no idea who actually funded his tribe, Horizon is just the biggest target. Upon his escape he realized how the rest of his world sees the pain and suffering he's endured throughout his life as nothing but entertainment (the extermination of his tribe was one of the first things he saw on a real trid set) and would likely be rather cold towards any Desert Wars fans within the team.

A very good example of a Ordeal type of Initiation, is the one that AH posted, of being nailed to the
Rune Tree, one light wound, and hang there for 9 more days each day taking another light wound. Total of 10 light wounds, hanging there is not resting so you heal none while hanging around.
But the payoff for that Ordeal is very nice for a RPing aspect.

I just want to tell you all how much I'm looking forward to this! I also know very well that I will need some help building this drone rigger. I've never had a rigger character (well, just ONE chopper rigger back in the SR3 days), so I'm a little sketchy on the rules. I also do not own a copy of Unwired... so there might be loopholes I am not aware of.
I will try to have a decent character background written up tonight, or at the latest, tomorrow. I'm already starting to think I might switch him to a troll. Somehow, I'm picturing this very twitchy, overly paranoid, overweight, "short" troll, with one eye bigger than the other and a slight limp... who believes that everyone should have tinfoil in their hats to prevent the Illuminati from reading their minds with their cover satellites. Or something equally insane

And while I thinking of it, if anyone already has some suggestions of things I should check out rigger/drone/whatever wise, do tell!
I've been reading on all the new drones in Arsenal, and altought I'd love to get all of them, I do find myself very fond of the idea of having a lot of mini drones that travel as swarms (carried by a small "fleet" of carrier drones).

Here is a draft of Mongol, assuming he is pretty much fresh off the boat, having only been in Seattle for a few weeks at most. If you'd rather he be more established within the group it'd be easy enough to fix. I'll drop his intimidate to 1, give him an etiquette of 1, and since he still has 4545:nuyen: and 1 BP left after chargen I'll spend them on a more permanent squatter lifestyle and buy him some heavier guns to represent his having accumulated some new gear after his arrival. I used Invisible Castle for his starting cash roll.

Microdrones make for great relay stations when you want to hack enemy cyberware...
@WMS : i was thinking along the lines of that ordeal, too.
Some urban survival related quest might also come into consideration.
Connection wise, i might take some connections from your list in the wiki (Dem Bones is practically set, works perfect with the medical background).
Is there an AB+ chapter in Seattle?

Hm... I'm starting to see my guy as the "legit" front of the group, maybe even it's pseudo face. He's gonna be good at all the biotech stuff, forensics, and not a wee bit of shooting as well. Probably buy him at least a shop but with an eye towards getting a fullblown clinic up and running (probably why he's running, betaware clinics don't buy themselves).

My mistake for not clarifying this 200 bp attribute cap is still in effect for character generation. The Attribute cap does not effect edge.

Here are my initial thoughts for Glitch:
<==QUALITIES==>
SINner - Wanted Criminal (cyber crime) +10
Addiction, Moderate (net games, Virtual WoW or some such) or Media Junkie (Moderate) +10
Reality Impaired (-1 to social tests in the real world) +5
Allergy, Common, Mild (peanuts) +10
Chatty (+2 to social skills in the Matrix) -5
Analytical Mind (+2 to Data Search and Software tests) -5
Codeslinger (not sure which Matrix Action yet) +10
For a net of +15 points.
Glitch is going to be pretty puny for an Ork (Body 4-5, STR 3-4) with high Reaction(5) and Intuition (5). Edge in the 4-5 range. Some cyber but not alot... mostly related to his commlink and control rig. His gear will include a Satellite link to get a signal almost anywhere, a bunch of microdrones, and a fist full of fake SINs.

Spike was put on the 3rd shift with Lonestar for two reasons. One: She is suited to the night and busting down the criminals who tend to use it more often than the day, and Two: She's a loud mouth and tends to rub the wrong way with some people. She's got a wide range of knowledge including Wheeled vehicles (And the repairing there of), hardware (Such as door locks, electronics, etc), SMGs are her favorite weapons, but she didn't ignore Pistols. She's also well trained in unarmed defense. She's very athletic and has stayed in great shape, and with a few of her stranger mutations, she's a great jumper and runner. I see her as more of the muscle of the group, alongside our Desert Wars veteran. She could also branch out into rigging eventually, though she isn't trained with computers, nor does she have suitable cyberware for that. Still, she makes a great team driver. For now she only has her sports car, but if the team got a van, she could drive that just as well.

I hope it doesn't affect Magic as well...
Still wondering about my choice of metamagic techniques (i'll take 2 grades of initiation), but will most likely stick to psychometry and invoking (yeah, i've settled for the conjuring skill group, even though binding gets terribly expensive when you can't craft binding materials of your own).
Besides that, i'm almost done with chargen, except for gear and spell selection.
As far as drones are concerned, if we have a large mini- or microdrone force, i could pick up the repair spell to fix them if they get shot at too much.

Let's talk group dynamic and team history.
Who hires us? How many of us are doing it for the money and how many of us are doing it for the warm feeling you get when you smash a Humanis head in?
Is there an OU "City Center"? A vaguely centralized organization that tries to handle the metaplot problems?

The spreadsheet I have used for SR4 for a long time has Cost of Magic/Resonance and Edge not part of the 200 Stat Cap. So they are not counted as part of the cap.
Initiation Grade 1 is 13 bps/karma, to increase the Magic Attribute from a 6 to a 7 is 21.
Initiation Grade 2 is 16 bps/karma to increase the Magic Attribute from a 7 to a 8 is 24.
Paying full costs for that above is 77.*eyebrow raised*
Yes groups and ordeals can reduce the amount spent for the initiation but the costs to increase the magic rating do not change.

As for the layout of the Ork Underground, the Tourist Areas are where most non orks can be found and accepted.
Different groups have different places they call the Center of the Ork Underground. Like SOS(Sons Of Sauron) would not gather near the tourist areas unless a dire need to. But City Hall is as close as you can get to a center.
