Knight Saber and I tested the MapTools system, and it seems to work fine even on my crappy dial-up connection. So, we need to set a time to play. Next weekend is out for me. What about the one after, Saturday the 22nd or Sunday the 23rd?
Knight Saber, I seem to have misplaced my notes on the magical groups. Sorry. I will have to make up a new set of notes on the two in which you are interested.

Sunday the 23rd works for me. And I'll be waiting eagerly for the group information.

It also occurs to me that Lamia could hit the club scene and look for Tempo users showing strange effects on the astral plane, if she wasn't afraid of having her spirit tied in knots by a brush with one whatever-it-is again!

Depends on the mission, as far as surviving... he's the only one with any social skills, after all.
I think it should be up to him first of all... don't want to cut him out.

Well lets shoot for 13 September, then for an online meeting. In the meantime, I am happy to do some side things with each of you in this thread and the IC thread.
Lamia has discovered new info about her friend, Clio.
Skullcracka just realized nobody loves him.
Fishbreath's past may be raising an ugly head. ("Fishheads, fisheads roly-poly fishheads..." anyone remember that?)
Mau may have something on which to spend his money.

I'm good to go for the 13th! And I thought I had a clever plan... 5 hits on a free spirit's astral signature lets you find out their home metaplane, so you can then do a metaplanar journey and get their true name, so all Lamia would have to do before that dangerous thing is Initiate... of course, then I saw that you need to be an Initiate to get that information in the first place. Oops.

I have only had one confirmation for the 13th, this Saturday, and some leads I have dropped here haven't been followed, so I guess this Saturday is off. Maybe people are too busy at this time of year? Anyway, I will continue to drop goodies into our IC and OOC threads to keep things going for individuals through PbP.

Aww... that's really bad news,
Fyndhal. I'm sad to hear it. I was cooking up something special for Mau, too. Well, if life changes for you, check back in.
Knight Saber, I guess your the magical talent for now. (!!!)
How do the three of you feel about advertising for a fourth player? Or do you feel you want to keep the team tight as it is? It looks as if I will be here in the woods till the end of October, anyway. With enough warning ahead of time, I am still up for a MapTools session.

Octopiii, I'm not wedded to Sundays, and have sent info out by email as well.
Karoline, you don't waste any time! I can send you the session logs of the games we have played so far if you pm me your email address. We are playing through the Ghost Cartels campaign, with a few side trips and additions based on the PCs backgrounds. The team has avoided major conflict so far, and it appears as if they will continue to try to do so.
Karoline
Sep 29 2009, 12:53 AM
Nope, I'm very active. I'll send you my e-mail in a minute. I saw 450 BP? Is there any kind of character we need in particular?
pbangarth
Sep 29 2009, 01:16 AM
Session logs are sent.
Octopiii has Fishbreath, a samurai/infiltrator from up North, way up North. ChiPsiUp has Skullcracka, a rigger/hacker. Knight Saber has Lamia, a well-rounded magician who is in the process of developing a contact useful to party and GM. We lost Fyndhal's Mau, a magician who acted as the group Face.
I have been available for side stories the last little while, as we have been unable to coordinate a time to play on MapTools the last couple of months. I think connecting through email as well as this forum, as has been suggested to me by a couple of the players, may make setting a time easier.
pbangarth
Sep 29 2009, 01:18 AM
Oh, yes, 450 BP, any of the books, anything that can be done in chargen. The only modification (I think) to the rules is the way Hacking skills are used. For my sanity I went with LOG + Skill, hits limited by program rating.
Karoline
Sep 29 2009, 01:19 AM
Hmm, two fishbreaths... must be twins

Face and magic have never been my strong suits, but I'll see what I can do.
pbangarth
Sep 29 2009, 01:27 AM
Fixed it. No, go with what you want to play! Lamia is doing a fine job on her front (that is not to say she is shabby on her back, though

) (Oh boy, I'll pay for that one!) as are the other players. It makes it interesting for me to deal with a team that is not necessarily optimized, and fun to see the players brainstorm to fill in talent gaps.
I have to emphasize that all current players should be happy with adding another player before we formalize the .... relationship. I do not forsee that as being a problem, though.
Karoline
Sep 29 2009, 01:32 AM
I'm sure she has a very nice back

I'll have to think what I want to play exactly. 450 BP, have any limits as far as stats or equipment go changed?
Oh, there it is, anything that can be done in chargen huh.... oh anything, how I love you so.

Okay, before I try getting too scary, let me ask the following questions (Not all of which will necessarily be relevant to the character)
1. Is 200 BP the max for stats?
2. Is 50 BP the max for equipment?
3. Is 12 availability the max for equipment?
4. Is initiation allowed at startup? If so at what cost?
5. Isn't anything just the greatest word -ever-?
6. Is there the normal 35 point limit on positive/negative qualities?
I ask basically all of these because of the nature of having over the normal 400 BP. Oh, and...
7. Is karmagen allowed, if so, how much karma?

1. Yes, for the 8 basic Attributes 200 is the max.
2. Yes, except for the Qualities that extend the limit.
3. Yes, except for the Restricted Gear Quality.
4. No. I like to have fun with Initiation. Just wait,

5. Yes, with the possible exception of 'yes' in response to certain questions.
6. Yes, unless you delve into Surge. I will want to look carefully at a Surged character.
7. No. Simply because I have never used it and don't know the ramifications.

Alright, sounds fair. Oh, one other thing I wanted to ask. Are we still held to the 'only 1 skill at 6 or two skills at 5 and no breaking up groups' limits?
And the main ramifications of karmagen are that high BP races are cheaper to get, and it is somewhat easier to make very rounded characters if I remember right.

I have created a Campaign, Trans-global, on Invisible Castle for those few rolls I would like to see pertaining to actions in the IC thread. So, for example, should Lamia take the big step, go through that front door and try for membership in Survivors of the Sixth World, she will have to make an Arcana + Logic Success Test. This would be an occasion to use Invisible Castle.
Speaking of which test, Knight Saber, I see Lamia has no Arcana Skill. Seeing as this is not strictly a Skill Test, we won't worry about defaulting, and just use her full Logic of 5. The threshold for the Test will be 2, and she needs at least 1 net hit, so I suspect you will be using a point of her Edge for this test. The ratio of dice pool (5) to Edge pool (2) is right at the breakpoint, where it doesn't much matter whether you choose to use the point of Edge before the roll to get exploding 6s, or after to reroll the failures. This will be a close Test, and Lamia may not get the requisite number of hits. But if she doesn't, she will have one more chance, in a month of game time, to try again.
