anyone worried about border crossing?
Tes has some general knowledge about smuggling routes, roll to see if he knows anything about the border where our marks are: how easy would it be to cross there?

I have some knowledge about security design and the military (who I assume run the border crossings?)

Wow, everyone just keep rolling like that and we're in business.
As for a meeting place, how about an abandoned warehouse that's under Klashers' control, on their turf. Would that be possible Chip? Need me to roll something?

I doubt we'll have many border crossings to worry about. They're still within Seattle territory and are more likely to be heading inward than out.

Would be convenient to be able to stage inside friendly gang territory, at least as long as we don't get made and inadvertantly drag said friendly gang into conflict with the First Nations.

Unless they have reason to think someone in Seattle is having them watched - in which case, meeting with someone on the other side of the border would be a good safety measure. We wouldn't be doing our jobs if we only reported on who they met with while they were on this side of the border.

Flip that coin - WE may need to get across the border quickly if it'll get us out of a sticky situation. Agreed, it's probable that we'll be dealing mainly on the UCAS side, but can't hurt to hedge our bets.

I hadn't been. I figured the next thing from CHC would be the results of the intiial rounds of knowledge checks about the gang and the location of the safehouses, and that he'd be, for the moment, reacting to whatever cockamamie direction we chose to run screaming in.

Good question. I'd hate for this to die, after the character generation and all.
If it weren't so common, I'd be thinking I was cursed. Then again, that's just the sort of egomania that fuels me. Just the same, my knee jerk reaction is to sit back, wait, and see. I'm not against something else growing out of this, but when CHC resurfaces, I'd be curious to see where this was headed.

yea, for a kind of slapped together character, i really like Jasper. oh, and if this game does get off the ground, I need to get a biofeedback filter ASAP.
and on an unrelated topic, I was working on a super "jack of all trades" character. I was thinking Phys ad with all 8 attribute boosts and skill wires and lots of edge. any thoughts or suggestions?

Is that even viable with the latest errata/SR4A, with the increased cost for skillwires (10'000 x rating)? Even with cracked software you're looking at hefty patching costs.
Red-ROM
Apr 3 2009, 10:45 AM
the whole Idea is kind of retarded, but I don't have sr4a yet, so i was unaware of that particular change.
Another option, assuming you can submerge in character creation, would be to go the technomancer biowire route. Thread up a complex form for any activesoft you need, rely heavily on sprites for direct matrix actions, and pick up Swap twice as fast as possible. Throw away a point of Resonance for 1 point of bioware, pick a Charisma fading stream, and call it a day.
I'm not sure whether it would suck or not, but it'd be interesting to try.

Apr 3 2009, 09:24 PM
yeah, My idea was to have an ex-corp wage slave whose SIN was lost in the crash and freed him from his horribly boring life, but the only real skills he would have would be "management skills" the phys ad powers I was looking at was multi tasking and nimble fingers aside from the att boosts. he would talk in corprate management speak and be kind of useless, but he would cover any area that was missed by the rest of the group ("hold on, I can fly this drop ship if you give me a second" or "the target is in a kickboxing competition? I could enter that")

With regards to the campaign, one could do a sort of round robin style GMing, alternating runs.
Sounds interesting. I'd be in.

This scenario is the Ghost Cartels campaign, it would be easy enough to keep it going if we're all ok with switching GM's.

Apr 8 2009, 12:43 PM
Remember that online, even a short run will take a long time, so the situation might change for those who can't GM right now.
I'd suggest to use Ghost Cartel more as a background for loosely-related runs though, to avoid spoilers. I could start with a run - assuming the PCs completed the "current" run - though I'd like to know how you all stand on internal conflicts, since with runners having ties to yakuza and mafia, odds are anything related to drugs will cause some conflict in the long run.
Oenone
Apr 8 2009, 04:32 PM
Erm internal conflict wise Rossi is also a wildcard. As he has wanted, which in theory means anyone might try sell him out for the bounty.....
Red-ROM
Apr 8 2009, 06:32 PM
Jasper doesn't have any real strong ties to anybody, being sort of new to the area, but he speaks his mind and can rub some people the wrong way, so who knows. also, I haven't read (nor do I own) ghost cartels, so I don't know how much I could incorporate it. of course, things change. maybe by the time I GM I'll pick it up.
I'm fine with the internal conflicts. Nuke has his debt issues, but they came with animosity rather than a sense of loyalty.

Do to the number of rules exceptions I had to bounce off of ChipheadCharley (plus his crippling, yet ill-defined disease) I don't think he will work particularly well in a round-robin format.
I am thinking I will take this opportunity to bow out, which should help get the group size down to something manageable, too.
I'll probably still keep an eye on this thread, so if you guys end up loosing a lot of people, and need another player, speak up, and I might be able to either adjust him, or bounce the changes off of whoever is in charge at the time.
