Dick. Next time make it a chilli + cheese dog. After that. Don't eat anything nasty the rest of the day, at least walk it off, and have plenty of toilet paper around.

I'm going to get cracking IC in a bit but I've got some errands to run first.
This is going to get involved so Cruze is going to be exceedingly careful. She's already made certain that there are no bugs in either apartment by vastly exceeding the relevant thresholds and cracked every encrypted channel she could detect.
She's going to start drilling holes in walls shortly but none of them will go all the way through until she is certain that she isn't going to trip sensors on the other side, movement, ultrasound etc.
The placement of sensors is going to be hard work but I think one Radar for Ground and Basement and one for second and third floors. Mic's and cameras in every room with an adjoining wall and I think I might save the ultrasound for the exterior and roofspace.
A very thorough check of the roofspace for existing sensors is made before I risk crossing into areas I don't 'belong' in.
More later...
Chrysalis
May 16 2009, 12:26 PM
I can tell you that there are no roof sensors. The security system in all the units are similar. Windows and doors are contact alarmed.
The alarm is cellular and a landline back-up. You enter a 6 digit pin-code and the alarm is disabled.
There are no bugs in the apartment.
You could actually go through the plywood barriers in the attic and access all of the building through the attic crawl space. This only demands a crowbar/a claw hammer and about an hour. I would recommend overalls, goggles and a face mask since the dust (most made up of fiber-glass particles) is a killer.
crizh
May 17 2009, 08:31 PM
If there are no sensors in the apartment and the only security is on the doors and windows I'm going to go in through the elevator shaft and physically plant the RFID tags in the hard to reach corners.
Chrysalis
May 17 2009, 09:01 PM
Elevator shaft?
This is a row house apartment with two floors and a stairway inside each unit. If you mean through the attic. Go right ahead.
crizh
May 17 2009, 09:17 PM
Haven't looked at the
maps then?
Elevator runs right through the centre of the house from basement to third floor.
Chrysalis
May 17 2009, 09:27 PM
Not well enough apparently. Yes.
There *is* an elevator shaft. Bloody first time I have seen a row house have one.
There is apparently also a third floor.

So the roof crawl space would be the fourth.
This is what happens when I listen to Emperor Mong... He was whispering in my ear saying "no you don't need to look at the maps, since you looked at them before." cnut.
So yes you can enter the apartment through the elevator shaft.

Yeah.... that sort of just happened. Fortunately, it is likely we have a day or two more to iron out our routines before the pattern of killings suggests another will happen. Actually, Friday is likely when the real danger starts.
The NPC workers appear to have moved on, and Cruze and Blackie are busy nearby, so if we could swing some transport, Professor could join Dick and Warrior at their observation point near Orville's (code name for Karkoff from the IC thread) workplace. Professor could use public transit or a taxi, but he's invisible. Yeah... more ironing out to work on.
SincereAgape
May 18 2009, 12:38 AM
The abortion clinic where Orville works I believe has a decent astral ward protecting it (From Toreador's initial inquiry on the clinic and Karkoff). It would be difficult to get inside the clinic and place a ward there, so the best possible solution would be to set rotating watcher spirits around the clinic when he is there.
After Cruze and Blackie finish at the apartment complex, Toreador can enchant the living space with a astral ward. From there, they can monitor Orville's apartment with more spirits.

Now I can't get out of my mind the image of that 3 inch window roving over the university student's auto-revealing top. Thanks, Chrysalis.
I am moving on June 1st, getting dental surgery on June 2nd, and trying to enjoy my birthday on June 3rd. So for the last few days of May to June 3rd, I may be only haphazardly connected to things. I'll try to keep up.
In the longer run, my wife and I (and two dogs) will be traveling across Canada to our cottage in Ontario (3500+ km trip) in early July, and staying there till the end of August. So the first week or so of July I will have limited internet access. At the cottage we will have internet through a noisy phone line, but it should be good for play-by-mail.
Weeks and weeks in a cottage in the woods; friends nearby (RL and AR) but not so close as to intrude; a 2 km. pristine beach right out of Caribbean tourist photos just 100 m down the lane; the love of my life and two great dogs for company; a stock of wine and food laid in the cupboards: it doesn't get much better.

He would, despite the embarrassment of being confused at first by the earlier Glagolitic form of Church Slavonic. The later Cyrillic form looks much more promising.

So, keeping track of PCs, I believe the locations are as follows:
Professor: Inside/outside the empty condo, invisible and contemplating his memories of the art object while keeping an astral eye out around Orville's place.
Toreador: Kicking back at the safe house, considering the data Cruze collected.
Cruze: At the safe house, getting ready for her date tonight with Zoltan.
Blackie: ? location ?, hooking up the Matrix links to the surveillance equipment in Orville's apartment.
Dick: In disguise, Keeping close watch on Orville.
Warrior: In the van, close to Dick and ready to intervene in case muscle/firepower is needed to keep Orville alive.
The dinner party for six on Friday interests me. The modus operandi of the killer seems to be zeroing in on group disasters, and five people, presumably all known to be friends of Orville, provide the killer with five opportunities to insert the kind of surrogate fire-bomber we suspect got Doctors Turner and Parnell. Well, six if you count the maid, who will be around every day, come to think of it.
We should find out more about the maid, who knows the party is coming up, and about the five guests, if we can figure out who they are. We might get lucky and catch the killer in the act of setting up the surrogate. This sounds like an ideal chance for Blackie (Sir-Psycho) to get involved in some fun investigation, and for the lot of us to spread ourselves all over DC! If we decide not to thin ourselves out over the city, at least we could know who to get a look at before the dinner party. (Although I suppose we could do so at the last minute as they are walking up to the door, but that could be dicey, rife with collateral damage, and restrict our ability to follow any potential links to the killer.)

Zoltan's mother is portrayed as the stereotypical eastern European/Jewish mother, arch-critical of any woman brought home by her son who is not of the social group she should be.
I replied, saying, "Unfortunately, my mother was like this."

There is something fishy about Zoltan. Theoritcally speaking. We should have Cruze put him down with a stun baton. From there the party can bring him back to the safehouse, interogate him and find out what he knows about....
1. Area 51
2. The JFK Assassination.
3. 9/11
4. The rise of Horizon and the crowning of an ork prince in Tir Tainrgire (Always butcher that spelling, amongst other words).

SincereAgape

There is something fishy about Mr. Aegis. We can have the professor charm him with an charming intellect which has never seen this side of Timbuck 2. From there, the professor takes him into an empty museum where lying in wait, Toreador knocks him out with a force 10 stunbolt. The team brings him back to the safehouse to join his buddy Zoltan. Then, Warrior uses Street Samurai like intimidation while Blackie (Gotta love that name) plays good cop. Mr. Aegis will be helpless, thus disclosing all he knows about...
1. Big Foot.
2. The Loch Ness monster.
3. The assassination of Arch Duke Ferdinand.
4. And why the Aztechnology is massing a large army in San Diego.

Hi,
I have my things piled up on the sofa and bookshelves. I still need to pack it all and then I am gone. Strangely enough I will not be missing my apartment, Oulu is a nice place especially during the summer. However, this is possibly the last time I will be coming back to this place.
I am sad, and yet I still feel like I am only going away for the weekend. One chapter ends another starts.
Tomorrow on the train ride I will think of a condensed response to Sincere's adventure thread and also accelerate the plot to Friday. The Professor who has been doing research will find out a horrifying detail.
