Okay guys, new OOC thread is up.
I'd like everybody (newbies and old folks alike) to post their characters onto that thread. Bios, stats, yadda yadda, all go in spoiler slots on page 1 or whatever of the new thread. Keep chattering here until I post the Fedallah and stuff after everybody's posted their characters. Remember to update your sheets with any karma spending - after I've approved said karma spending.

Idly: I now have karma log sheets done for everybody with active characters. Caveats:
1. If there were karma awards before 3/4/2010's awards, I forgot about em. Bring em to my attention along with a link to the post where I announced em...via PM or other non-post method, please.
My next step will be reflecting karma spending.
Edit: Budoka, I now have your spending logged. You now have 0 karma left to spend.

Any plans on when/how the new crewmembers are going to meet the old crew? Or just find a cabin on board and have a drunken bash to introduce ourselves to each other?

Check the main thread, ntwi.

Or, I should be more explicit: What you see in the main thread overrides the newbie thread where they conflict.
Annnyhow, guys...Who all is still interested? Most of you haven't even posted your characters to the new OOC thread, to say nothing of any response on the IC thread, which has me wondering.
At the present moment, I'm letting things sit because nobody seems interested. When/if people are interested again, I can pick up where I left off.

Standing by, here.

I was partially waiting for one of the existing characters to mention a lead or direction to look for work. I hadn't wanted to jump in too much as a new member of the crew.

Only 3 people?

Okay guys. Here's where things stand, since Zz was nice enough to PM me and ask:
Contrary to rumor, my interest hasn't flagged.
However, it seems like the playerbase's (you guys') interest has.
It makes, for a bunch of reasons, no sense to try this campaign with under 6 people. Nominally, we have 11.
Only 3 responded to my last post calling for people to speak up.
I don't know whether this flagging of interest is temporary or permanent. I'm especially concerned re the older players, virtually all of whom have dropped off the radar.
The entire point of a campaign like this, as I see it and as it was expressed in the cyberpirates book, is that it is fundamentally self-directed by the players. You guys pick the targets, do your legwork, etc, etc. Basically, you handle everything yourself, from picking targets to fencing stuff. I'm there not to hand out missions, but to adjudicate things.
The first mission led you by the nose, yes. It was intended to jog everybody through the system.
This "independent duties" thing is really supposed to be the highlight of the campaign, and really what makes it work (because there's no way I could keep coming up with missions), and yet...we reach the first shoreleave/karma spending, and everybody is poof gone.
I don 't know whether it's me, or what.
---
So what I'm going to do:
I'm going to leave it you guys to round each other up. Until ya do, I'm putting the game on hold.
It could be temporary, it could be permanent.
If the hold lasts more than 90 days, I'll consider the hold permanent and chalk this campaign idea up as a failure.
Which, speaking personally, is frustrating, because I can't see why it failed. None of it seemed to be things people had difficulty with when I set it out. If anything, people wanted the ties to be looser, to go even more with the core cyberpirates concept of "create your own work". Well, now we're on the verge of that...And everybody drops off the radar.
We can come off hold at any time - but only if somehow enough of the players show up to make it worthwile.

Sounds like it is up to us then, eh kids? The first step to getting to some action will be to find a target. It would be great if CollateralDynamo is still around anywhere, because Zalermo has the contacts to really take the lead in this department. As for the rest of us, Rusty may want to reach out to his arms dealer and CIA connections, while Nemo might have luck with his smuggler friend. Anyone with the Data Search skill can try searching out some shadow sites on the Matrix that might generate more leads. Even without the skill, we can default to Browse-1 if we can find a terminal.
Penta, what would the rating be of a Browse program on a public or government terminal that we could reasonably have access to?
For Doc's part, he is going to place a call to his good friend Marcos Durante, a DocWagon pilot operating out of FDC. Probably not the most likely of information sources on possible pirating targets, but you'd be surprised what runners let slip when they've just narrowly avoided bleeding out on the way to the ER. Penta, if Marcos responds, just have him pick up the line in the IC thread and we can carry on from there.
Side question: Aren't we supposed to be using the new OOC thread from now on?
Penta

Ummm....For random public terminals, sort of like payphones?
Rating 1. Commlinks are supposed to be ubiquitous, so.
So far as Doc's contacts - make the call ICly.
And, re the new OOC thread: Actually, everybody still playing was supposed to post their characters there, then we'd transfer chatter over afterwards.

I was thinking more like virtual public libraries or data havens that one would access via their commlink when they don't have a search program that costs hundreds of nuyen. (Unwired describes the type of remote browse programs that I am talking about on page 52.)
Penta

It may, but not on page 52. Page 52 goes all into Nexi and fiber links and stuff.
Edit: On the other hand it does give the nexus stats for a public library.
What I'm going to figure - program ratings equal to system rating for such kinds of remote use programs, as a rule. That's for your average suburban public library. Exceptionally well-funded public libraries (think like the NYPL in NYC), university libraries, etc. could have higher programs.

I was referring to the last sentence of the last paragraph under Matrix Topology>Software and Data>Programs where it says "Public nexi like libraries, archives, and data havens often provide remote browse programs," which is what is on page 52 of my book at least. (I think you were looking at page 52 of the PDF, which is actually page 50 of the hard cover book.)
In light of your response above, what would the rating be of a Browse program on a public or government terminal that we could reasonably have access to?

Um, I'm gonna do an asspull and say 3 or 4. Probably 4.

Hey all, just wanted to finally pop on and announce that I do still live. Expect to see this post right here alot as I'll be putting it on the various games I was in.
First I want to apologize for my absence. I vanished without warning, and I really could have given at least some warning. The problem was that I was spending way too much time on DS and reading SR4 books and such when I should have been doing school work. I hadn't originally intended to be gone for long, planning to just skip out for a couple days so I could get caught up on school work. Then all the snow storms hit and I couldn't get on at all, and then when the storms finally passed, all the teachers doubled work loads (and I was already taking 17 hours, 4 of which were lab hours). Anyway, it wasn't long before my couple days had turned into more like a month, and at that point I figured everyone had counted me dropped, and I didn't want to temp myself by getting on again.
So now, after I don't even remember how many months, I'm finally plucking up the courage to show my face again (No really, I have a problem with that. My brain says everyone will forgive, but I still feel like everyone will hate me for having vanished). Finals are just around the corner, so don't expect to see me around too much just yet, but after that I'm hoping that I'll finally settle into something that actually has a regular pattern and doesn't require me to do a ton of work outside of work.
Okay, hope I didn't ramble too much. Good to see everyone again.
