Rakshasa
I like Napoleonic warfare, have even played tabletop wargames in the period. Needless to say, I also have Mr Cornwall's Sharpe books and videos.

So, according to Sharpe, "Shoot the &%ck£* Officers first!"

I think we just did that. biggrin.gif

Personally, I'd make the Magic Users the next rank to be eliminated, but then, that's just me. cool.gif
DrJest
Just waiting for my next go round cyber.gif
Mysterio
This is one nasty room *L*

Nope haven't heard from blitz. Unusual though, she seemed really into the game. Myabe just life in the way at the moment.
Drain Brain
Ho, dudes...

It's gotten a little out of sequence here, what with a little error by myself leading to a backwards-ing of initiative totals, but here's a little something to put us back on track...

----------
Templar 7 finishes his run to the base of the stairs and, unlike his slightly unwise boss, takes a little care in his approach. Slowing before he comes into view, he only very quickly exposes himself as he leans out to pull Number 5 out of the line of fire (Hey, he doesn't know he's dead...

Since Deuce's action hasn't occurred yet (I'm assuming a delayed action, as I said), now would be the time for an attack, I feel...

Roll away, MacDuff...
----------

Templars 6&8 are continuing their run in towards the combat zone, 3 is staggering about like an idiot, and 4 is making his way over to the Foam Room archway - ignoring his comrade in favour of finding and killing Piper... goody...

DrJest
As soon as Deuce has fired (and Poet gets an initiative pass) I'll make a long dive roll into the room (athletics dodge) to get line of sight on the templar. Figure I might just catch him off guard long enough if he's still there.

If Deuce kills him, of course, I'll do the same and scan for a fresh target smile.gif
Mysterio
Okay i've posted IC, basicall, just wanting to cap whoever is the nearest to deuce. Hopefully that fits into the sequence.
Rakshasa
I haven't the foggiest idea as to what die to roll for Piper's insane play - so I'll wait till DB gets back from work tomorrow and let him tell me how stupid I've been.

BTW - yes, he has gone back to work, but remains `on call' for the local County Court.
Drain Brain

I'll do the fluff this evening - I'm late for work... wink.gif
Blitz
Im really very sorry. As you know (I think) I dont have internet at home yet so I have to access DS at work. Unfortunately, I came down with a nasty case of Strep Throat and am still recovering so I haven't been a work for almost a week.

Hopefully we'll be getting internet soon (crosses fingers) but in the mean time, let me try to catch up with the group. In the future, feel free to NPC Tyen as necessary so that I don't hold up the group.
Blitz
(edit)

Nevermind on all that...seems I should have read the IC first wink.gif
Drain Brain
YOU'RE BACK! Woohoo!

DrJest
Bad Silver! Bad!

Of course it didn't help that I've just been reading the latest Something Positive...
Blitz
OMG...now I know yer cool. I've never known anyone else who reads that...well...not without me beating them into submission first biggrin.gif

Something Positive...

DrJest
Okay, since Deuce has fired, I'll use Athletics to roll into the room; take a potshot at the wounded Templar, and I'll take the target modifier to have a crack at the other templar in the room if I see them.
Drain Brain
Templar 7 Knockdown Test (that I forgot to make for deuce's shot): 02, 04, 04, 09, 09 (4 successes)
----------
Templars 8&6 continue their movement.
----------
Templar 3 is kinda dying, so forfeits his turn... wink.gif
----------
Templar 4 advances slowly into the Foam Room.
----------
Poet Activity (dig that Jon-Woo-fu):

-Templar 8 Knockdown Test: 02, 04, 05 (Zero successes)
-Results: Templar 7 takes Serious Stun and is knocked down; Templar 8 takes Moderate Stun, knocking him to the floor too.
----------
Tyen's spell:

In a word, works just like it says on the tin...
----------
Tyen & Sandy Perception (for the hell of it...)
Sandy: 01, 02, 05, 10
Tyen: 01, 03, 03, 03, 05, 10
----------

Next Pass (yeah, it got kinda fragged up, but I'm gonna ignore it... I've never been too good at running combat scenes and over PBP it's even worse):

Templar 5: Out of it
Templar 1: Out of it
Deuce: 6+2+4+5-1-10 = 6
Poet: 7+4+4-10 = 5
Templar 7-6-10: No more actions
Piper: 6+2+3-1-10 = No more actions
Templar 8: 10-2-10 = No more actions
Templar 6: 9-10 = No more actions
Templar 3: Out of it
Templar 4: 5-10 = No more actions

Deuce is in LOS for #7, Poet for #8, Neither for #6. Actions from you two before we roll one last turn?
DrJest
Pop one in Templar 8, move to cover 7 in case Deuce doesn't finish him off.
Mysterio
Deuce:
Pistols +4 CP (I believe I have 4 remaining):01 08 05 04 05 03 01 05 07

Drain Brain
----------
Deuce's Shot

-Pistols+4CP: 01, 01, 03, 04, 05, 05, 05, 07, 08 (6 successes)
-Templar 7: Can't dodge, even if he had any CP left...
-Templar 7 resists 7M:
Body: 01, 04, 05, 05, 11 (1 success)
-Result: Templar 7 takes Deadly damage AND IS totally dead, beyond helping...
----------
----------
Poet's Shot

-Pistols: 02, 02, 03, 03, 03, 04, 04, 04, 05, 07 (10 successes - target stationary, laser sight, so you know the reasoning there...)
-Templar 8: Can't dodge...
-Templar 8 resists 4M STUN:
Body: 02, 05, 10 (2 successes, like that helps)
-Result: Templar 8 takes "Deadly" stun, rendering him unconscious.
----------

That leaves two, then...

Perception for Tyen and Sandy:
Sandy: 01, 02, 02, 04
Tyen: 03, 03, 04, 05, 05, 05

----------
New Initiative:

Poet: 2+5+7 = 14
Deuce: 2+3+4+6-1 = 14
Templar 6: 4+5+5 = 14
Piper: 1+4+6-1 = 10
Templar 4: 4+5-1 = 8
----------

Choices, choices... oh - and pay close attention to the IC post... muahahahaha...
DrJest
Poet - activating micro transceiver then opportunity action on the fire room door.
Drain Brain
Hey Doc... you're famous...
DrJest
SYNNER?! SYNNER voted for ME in the Dumpshock Top 10?!?!?!

...this is cos I guessed what's in Loose Alliances, isn't it?
Mysterio
Deuce intell roll to see anything in the messy foam room:05 03 05 01 04 01
Drain Brain
heh...

Ahem *clears throat*

"Deuce silently peers into the Foam Room. RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM, within spitting distance, is a Templar, back to Deuce, scanning the room with eyes and pistol."

*rolls electronic dice*

"He has DEFINATELY noticed you behind him."

*Smug grin at a 21 on NPC perception test...*
DrJest
That's gonna hurt...
Mysterio
Am I then to assume I see him as well? or is it like he saw me first sort of deal?

If I see him as well, then I am ready to post IC, which I had started to do but then realized that he may get the jump. Sorry about the IC post i removed.
Drain Brain
Go ahead matey. He knows you're there, but you're a hyped up uber-nifty gunbunny. And in terms of reactions, he may as well be a damn pedestrian.

That is, if you're gonna plug him, do it now before he turns around and fries your ass... wink.gif
Mysterio
Oh that's right, called shot.
Pistols 5+ 6CP (yeah we're piling it all in this round) and the verdict is (crosses fingers): 16 02 02 03 11 01 04 03 04 05 05
Hmm not too bad i guess. Here's hoping.
Drain Brain
Heh... coolness.
----------
Deuce's Shot:
-Pistols+6CP (@7)*: 01, 02, 02, 03, 03, 04, 04, 05, 05, 11, 16 (2 successes)
-Templar 4 Dodge (3CP): 02, 02, 03 (0 successes)
-Templar 4 Damage Resistance vs. 10S:
Body +4CP: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 05, 07 (0 successes)
-Result: Templar 4 takes Deadly wound, putting him one box into overflow.
----------

*To explain that target number:
Base 4, -1 for Target Stationary, +1 for wound modifier, -1 (because I'm a nice GM and I think the rules blow) for "Point Blank Range" and +4 for Called Shot, making a total of 7. Lovely.
Silverspur_2020
*Comes in.... reads posts and has nothing to say, so sits down in his well worn leather chair and sleeps until needed.*
Blitz
dont mean to be a rules lawyer or anything, but I thought you could only use pools up to the maximum equal to the skill you are using...
DrJest
Okay, I admit it. The character's style is heavily derived from Equilibrium smile.gif

Athletics dodge (a free cartwheel, btw, is one where the hands don't touch the floor): 05 05 05 02 02

Pistol 1: 08 04 03 03 03 03 02 02 01 01 (blech)
Pistol 2: 10 10 05 05 04 04 03 02 02 01 (better)

Apply combat pool to dodging as necessary
Blitz
That movie was awesome!!
Mysterio

Sorry Blitz, you're right. My bad. Show you how often I get to play in real life frown.gif
Blitz
Maybe DB will be a sweetie and let it slide wink.gif
Drain Brain
Yeah, I kinda failed to notice that one too...

Oops...

And I think it'd be a lot of hassle to "re-do" it, so I shall accept the title of "sweetie" and let it slide... wink.gif

More to come after work, guys (back after Jury Service now... have to see what a mess my monkeys have made of everything... eurgh...)
Blitz
Great news!

Me <---Internet Blessed!

Finally got the internet up and running smoothly at home so expect a bit more speedy and reliable postings from me biggrin.gif

Roll for initiative, monkeyboy.

(And if you don't get the reference, shame on you )
Silverspur_2020
as I never heard a negative about the taxi driver doing that for me... I shall assume its going ahead until told otherwise
Drain Brain
Guys,

I have to suspend this game until further notice...

Dave, my Dad, aka Rakshasa, passed away today at about 2pm Brit-time.

Although the cause is not yet certain, we believe it to have been a heart attack.

I know he counted you all as friends, thanks for sharing this hobby with him - it made him happy.

I'll get back to you all soon,

Regards,

Tony
Silverspur_2020
My condolences. I didnt know him as well as I would have liked to, and part of me hoped that as we lived so close we may all have met up for a real life game one day.

My thoughts go out to you and your family.

Jon Ridgeway.
Mysterio
My deepest sympathies to you and yours.
He seemed like a great guy and I enjoyed his writing here.

Sincerely,
Jason Kilby
Blitz
I'm speechless. He was one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of gaming with on these boards and though it was only a brief encounter, I feel honored for the opportunity.

My heart goes out to you for what you and your family must be going through. Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. He will be missed.

-Amanda Thaxton
Drain Brain
To Jon, Jason, Amanda and Sav (who wrote to me by email) - thankyou all.

As I've said here and elsewhere, Dad spent a lot of time online, particularly (of late) here at Dumpshock, and I know that he valued you all highly - respecting you as gamers and as people he'd call friends.

You've all been very kind.

As a mark of respect, this game WILL get finished. I need a few days for mum and I to sort paperwork etc. then I'd like to get back to it if that's okay with you all...

I'll post again when things begin to settle down.

Much love,

Tony
Blitz
Take as much time as you need Tony. We'll be here.
