Basic senses don't jump in, nor do any astral-type senses, nor protective senses ...  you have 7.

Works for me (although I don't know why you wouldn't count everyone's basic senses?).

I still think mine should count for only 1 though. biggrin.gif

[edit] And Doc has 10 + 5 normal senses. nyahnyah.gif wink.gif
Tanka

Which are Dampener and Flare Comp. nyahnyah.gif

QUOTE (tanka)
Basically, if two people give orders, whose do you follow?

But I wouldn't be giving orders.

I use the TacComp for myself, processing all the data available. I have a BTLink, and my senses go to you, but also to my TacComp at the same time, which I don't use for giving orders, but only for my own benefit. Why couldn't I still benefit in some way from a return feed from you? It would in no way interfere with the rest of the team.

As for Doc's senses ... Weird, I checked twice too. That's what I get for staying up three nights running. embarrassed.gif grinbig.gif
Tanka
Well, basically, if you want to blow the Essence and cash, that's your call.

And the Cyberlink gives info as well, but not the Combat Sense-equivalent power (which I won't use anyway, as I'll be rigged).
Fortune
I'm not trying to take your job. I'm just confused about the benefits of this, and why they wouldn't stack. Further thought is needed. smile.gif
Ol' Scratch
If two or more people give orders, it also causes a hefty penalty to everyone due to conflicting orders. I think it's +2 per extra orders. That's why. smile.gif

It's cool if you want to use it on your own or something, though. But you're not going to gain any benefit from doing so if we have someone in the group with a high SUT skill of his own. TacComp adds bonus dice to the skill, it's not the skill itself.

Honestly it's really not worth the investment, even if we have cash to burn. You're much better off with the BattleTac Cyberlink instead... use the Essence for other cool stuff.

Oh, and Tanka, you still get the TacComp bonuses while rigged. You make Surprise Tests and use Combat Pool just like everyone else. smile.gif
Tanka
QUOTE
If more than one character is attempting to improve a team member's bonus in this way, only the highest is achieved at -1 for conflicting orders.  For example, if a team member recieves a +3 bonus from one character and a +5 bonus from another, he would use +4 (highest 5, -1).

Go for the full thing if you want, just don't give orders or I throw rocks at you. nyahnyah.gif
Fortune
Right, so if I want to use it, it would grant me + 1 Combat Pool and +1 SUT (for myself only) per 2 valid senses linked, up to a maximum of +4. Right?

I can still provide info for the rest of the team (via linked senses and the BattleTac Link. Right?

I just couldn't gain the benefits from tanka's SUT roll, as in using the TacComp, I am effectively over-riding his orders (for myself only), and forfeiting the possible Initiative gain from the BattleTac Link. Right?

That should cover it. smile.gif

Before I post the full thing, here is what I have so far:

Deck: Farlight Excalibur with 100,000 Mp added to each type of memory that is part of the machine.

Programs: Analyze 10, Browse 10, Deception 10, Decrypt 10, Read/Write 10, Relocate 10, Scanner 10, Spoof 10, Sleaze 10, Track 10, Blackhammer 10, Attack (D Damage) 10, Armor 10, Cloak 10, Lock-On 10, Camo 10, Crash 10, Defuse 10, Hog 10, Mirror 10, Shield 10

Cyberwear:
Deltaware Datajack
Deltaware cyberarms with strength of 12

Armor:

Light hardened MGA (with helmet) that has Optical Magnification 3, Low-Light, Thermographic, Smartgoggles, Rating 10 Helmest Transciever, Vidcam, Rating 10 Vid Transmitter, HUD with 100 Mp of memory, Chemical Seal (the option in the Hardened Armor entry), Respirator, Hazmat Enviroseal, Rating 9 Fire Resistance, Rating 9 Thermal Dampening

Weapons:
1) Monosword
2) Twelve Spikes, each having a SAM
3) Stoner-Ares M107
4) Ares Pred 2 with Gas Vent 4, 3 spare clips
5) HK227 with Gas Vent 4, 4 spare clips
6) Vindicator Minigun with a Maxgyro attached
7) AK-97 with Smartgun, Gas Vent 4, Shock Pad, Personalized Grip, Extended Clip, Imaging Scope (Low-Light, Thermographic, Mag 3), Engraving ("Backup Gun"), 2 spare clips
cool.gif 25 kilos C-12 and a timer detonator

Ammunition: Except the missile launchers, they all use APDS.

Other:
Ares Roadmaster (Well, I need something to haul all this junk)
High Lifestyle, 2 months.

Contacts:

Ares Exec (Level 1), Fixer (Level 1)

The contacts list is actually a result of the background summary that caused him to have all of that equipment. Basically, he's been forced to retreat from Atzlan because of a long series of events that lead to him having all of that equipment. That same series of events included the deaths of two fixers and a few of his friends forced into hiding (not his fault, as his last Johnson decided to frag over him and all of his friends when this guy survived the run). He's basically starting over in a new area, only with enough firepower to take down a small nation.

BattleTac to come once I see how much money I have left.

Nope, even if you keep the info to yourself but are trying to use your own skill, it would still count as the "conflicting orders" bit. You'd have to shut him out completely to gain your own benefits without the -1 penalty. It would probably count to the rest of the team, too, since you'd voluntarily be going against orders, thus ruining the whole plan... but that's GM's call.

And for crying out loud, of the two characters that have shown some of their stuff, I feel like such an underachiever. <cries>
Ol' Scratch
Shadow: I think you missed it when I asked, but is it okay to use any web-based material, like Raygun's firearms? I miss Bel's Five-seveN's and P-90's. <still sniffling a bit>
Tanka
Hey, man, I haven't even touched the vehicles.

With my remaining Essence, I can get another 31 generic ports. Hopefully the rest of you won't take that many, or we're gonna be out of a few senses.
Fortune
But I want the Combat Pool, damnit! smile.gif
Ol' Scratch
Then you can get it! nyahnyah.gif Just don't use the SUT portions of it unless you're, like, solo or we break up into teams. smile.gif
Fortune
It's cool, I killed it. So then, do I actually need a SUT skill if I have the (cyber) BattleTac Link with tanka?
Ol' Scratch
Only one person needs SUT. Everyone else just gets the benefits from that one roll based upon what kind of gear they have and their ability to receive his orders as mentioned earlier.
Fortune
Much appreciated. smile.gif

I feel like such a newbie, but it's been foever since I read over these rules. I guess even Immortal Elves are subject to senility. biggrin.gif
Ol' Scratch
Don't let it get to your head. nyahnyah.gif If all of my names were combined, I'd be giving you a run for the money. Actually I find it pretty sad commetary that I hit Dragon with this name alone... I need to get a new hobby. biggrin.gif
Fortune
I was thinking that very thing myself when the titles first changed. I'm sure you're not that far behind. wink.gif

As for senses, they've changed ...

Normal Senses +
Low Light
Eye Lights
Vision Magnification
Orientation System

You can add Microscopic Vision if you want. wink.gif
Tanka
Nooooo! Cargo Helis with Body 7 don't have enough Hardpoints for a Medium Railgun! Curses! Cuuuurrrrrseeeeees!

One more point of Body. *sniff*
Ol' Scratch
Shoot, you're right. I was getting my firmpoints and hardpoints mixed up.

Technically, you could dikote the Cargo Helicopter, thereby increasing its Body. wink.gif You still have Light Railguns at your disposal, too... not to mention Silencer AARMs, Outlaw Missile Systems, and Vehicle Lasers. The Xichotecoughchokehack is a Light Railgun that does 6L Naval damage for crying out loud. smile.gif
Tanka
Yes, true.

Dikoting, hmm...

If I still have the money.

30 points of vehicular armor ain't cheap, y'know.
Ol' Scratch
Hope you're countering the Handling penalty for that much armor. smile.gif (And realize that a single Great Dragon ATGM can still take it down -- you need like 41 Armor to avoid that.)
Tanka
Oh yeah... Handling penalty...

Damn.

*edits sheet, re-messages Shadow*

Edit: 'Sides, as far as I remember, Dragons don't have anti-vehicular claws. nyahnyah.gif
Ol' Scratch
Shoot, I meant to Edit the last post not start a new one... bah. Anyway, let's go ahead and announce what we're going to be submitting for the game so everyone knows where everyone else is standing. Cool? Cool. I'll go ahead and go first...

BELFAST (snapshot)
Archetype: Combat Mage (Celtic Path Magician variant, Road of Oberon [Path of the Righ])
Specialities: Spirits, particularly faerie spirits of the elements. Illusions and Telekinetic, Transformation, and Control Manipulations will be his most prevelant spells. Most of them will be flashy with a nature element to them (Bind, for instance, will involve vines reaching out and grabbing people). He'll also have one or two obligatory Combat Spells including a potent Spiritblast.
Additional Notes of Interest: Has an ally spirit "leprechaun" by the name of Red Tom. He's also a former Red Branch terrorist and still maintains ties with various terrorists cells. While his magic often seems foo-foo treehuggerish, he's surprising comfortable with technology.
Tanka
Wagner
Archetype: Rigger (Rotor Vehicles)
Specialties: Small Unit Tactics and overwhelming drone force. He likes overkill as much as he likes his namesake; Richard Wagner.

Still fleshing out the rest of it, but that's what I've got so far.
Fortune
Danny Foster (pic)

Archetype: Shaman (Leopard)
Specialties: Combat and Health spells, Biotech
Digital Heroin
Edit: Removed due to character concept re-work

Archtype: Warrior's Way Adept
Specialties: No-Dachi death, some laser weaponry...
Digital Heroin
Got a question which may be bordering on the way too custom... how would a unique enchantment on a foci work? More specifically one on a weapon... I'm thinking an elemental effect, or possibly the granting of a critter/spirit power upon the weilder, but I'm wondering what the cost, monetary and karmic, would be for such a thing...
Digital Heroin
And I just realized how increadibly useless an Adpet is against a dragon... seriously...
Fortune
I don 't know about that ... I was considering making one for this game.
Digital Heroin
Well the fact that I'd be rolling 22 dice for no-dachi strikes is sweet, but with only 6 strength, that's not going to penetrate a dragon's hide, neh? And sure he can wear heavy hardened military grade armor without penalty... but what's the point when a dragon still has an effective power of 29?
Fortune
Up his Strength maybe? biggrin.gif
Digital Heroin
There's only so far it can go though... and, well, having to have used 4 levels of Initiation to shed geasa made things a bit costly...
Fortune
Well, you didn't have to take the Geasa in the first place. nyahnyah.gif wink.gif
Digital Heroin
Err... well, considering he's got a level 4 MbW system in him, yeah, I did... biggrin.gif
Fortune
Ahh, I see. biggrin.gif

I have no problem with Geasa, if they are going to be kept. Attaining a Geas with the goal of shedding it later doesn't seem to be cost effective.
Digital Heroin
Come to think of it, it's really not that effective, is it? I mean heck, if I just asumed he lost the magic, then he would still have the same end Magic attribute, and he'd have a potential of 4 other metamagics... scary...
Fortune
You got it. I won't tell if you don't. Besides, who's to say he didn't initiate first, and then get the implants? wink.gif
Digital Heroin
Actually, that makes sense. He's supposed to have sold his soul, by the way I'm forging his personality. Still proving to be a pain though.
Fortune
Too many choices. biggrin.gif
Ol' Scratch
The type of enchantment you're looking for, DH, is a Reusable Anchor with a sustained spell. You can turn it on and off all you like without having to have it "refurbished" for lack of a better term, but if you ever have to deactivate the focus, you need to have the chosen spell cast back in it by someone with Anchoring. They normally cost an arm and a leg, but with 20 million it shouldn't be much of an obstacle. Me, I'm just putting a low-level Sustaining Focus enchantment on my short sword and using Flame Aura (or maybe a variant with another element like Ice) with it. It's just for show. smile.gif

Also, remember that Attribute Boost is a definite possibility. It's not limited by your Racial Modified Limit or Attribute Maximums, only your Magic Rating. Since you probably won't need it all the time, only against something with mucho armor like a dragon, it's a pretty good investment for what it returns.

Oh, and out of curiosity, who do you have doing your regular upkeep on your Move-By-Wire system? smile.gif MBW was the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread, too, but the drawbacks are a bitch.

You know what Elemental Effect would be a good idea for any big-hitter melee type? Metal. Even if you don't damage your opponent, the Secondary Effect shreds their armor (any type of armor, unlike Acid which only affects Ballistic and Impact armor) by 1 point. So even if you can't hurt him at first, as long as you can stay active, you can whittle his armor down so you can. biggrin.gif The only trick is coming up with a way of describing a shrapnel effect as an aura (<coughs> Blade Barrier </coughs>)
Fortune
tanka: My senses have changed yet again, but hopefully for the last time.

Normal senses plus ...

Eye Lights
Low Light
Vision Magnification
Spatial Recognizer
Sound Filter 5
Hearing Augmentation
High Frequency
Orientation System

biggrin.gif
Shadow
A little update, you guys are welcome to use Rayguns web for guns. Bit not ammo or rules. The five-seveN and the p-90 are welcome.

Tanka, I got your first PM and I think you need to go back over the rules of vehicle creation. I dont think you can have 30 armor and a 0 handling.

I want all the characters into me by the end of the week.
Ol' Scratch
A Handling of 0 is possible (it just sets the base TN for all other modifiers; but the final TN can't be below 2 no matter what... in other words, it just counteracts 2 points of penalties), and Armor 30 is, too, but tough to do without hiking the Handling up by 6 points.
Tanka
Shadow: I checked that after being reminded by Doc about the penalties.

I removed a lot (because even without any extra price mods I was hitting 13mil for the heli alone) and am now working out drones before I re-send the heli (so I can get a good guess as to how much CF and Load I'll actually need) and send the drones for verification.

End of the week?

Oi, well, good thing I'm home by noon on Tuesday and Thursday. This should be a fun week (and very brain-wracking).
Shadow
I am leniant, if the end of the week is to soon, let me know.
Tanka
I should know by Wednesday if it's too soon for me.

Guys, I still need sense lists from you so I can have enough ports.
Ecclesiastes
My character has no cyber, so I may carry an external unit to receive commands, but I'll have no senses for you.
Tanka
Nothing extra? Fair enough.

That increases the average "leftover" for everybody else, which is (I believe) six other people.

I'll be holding spots for more rare and unique senses before going to other, more common senses.
