Fistandantilus3.0 asked for an ED game lately and got me in the right mood to set one up. Running games for a single player is only half the fun and madness, so I'm looking for three more players. Don't know where the game will take place exactly and what the main theme will be, I'm open for ideas, wishes and suggestions here.
All I know is that I have the following guidelines for characters:
- 75,000 LP spent (that should be enough for an experienced 6th circle character)
- 2 minor magic items (thread items) per characterr
- no limit on money: tell me what you want and I tell you if you can get it
- I'd prefer if characters are created with the Alternative Discipline Mechanics (available on the RedBrick-website:
Here)
- Detailed background
- The characters know each other for longer and have spent the last year together
Enough for the start. Let's rock!

Well I PM'd him, we'll see what he says. He might claim to be too busy, He's working on running a Star Wars D6 game for myself and a few others ATM, plus another forum game.
Of course, that really shouldn't be any excuse to not play Eearthdawn. Got that Alex?

Well after Grinder put pressure on me I'm going to have to throw my hat into this ring.
I'll do one of
Illusionist
Thief
Swordmaster
They're my favored disciplines.

Awesome. I was considering a thief/Swordmaster(blade). Defnietly going to have to use the Setup Talent Knack.

I'm too busy to play any TRPGs right now but I think it's pretty cool that somebody is playing Earthdawn. As a show of support I'll re-watch Conan the Barbarian...just for you guys!

Yep.
It's Ophis, Fisty and Metatron so far (she just PMed), so one spot is left.
What do you wanna play?

Race will probably be Elf.
Not much of a windling fan. T'skrang may tempt me.
So Fistandantilus3.0 do you want thief or illusionist, I'd prefer illusionist. Though swordmaster is always tempting it depends what else we got.

I do think I'm going to go with thierf/awordmaster(blade) - human. Sounds interesting to me. Think Steven Burst if you know the books, with just a bit more sword skill.
Ophis

Illusionist it is, depending on which multiclassing we use I may pick up some swordmaster as well. Definitely elf. The character will be showy and talkative (picking up several people talents.)
Grinder

Sounds good.
Rules for picking up a second discipline (from EPC):
QUOTE |
A character learning a new Discipline must learn all of the First Circle talents for that Discipline at Rank 1, but he need not relearn talents in the new Discipline that he already knows from his current Disciplines (see the optional rule for Aligning Talents From New Disciplines, p. 427). The character must have sufficient Current Legend Points available to him to learn all of these new talents simultaneously. The Legend Point cost of purchasing a Rank 1 talent in a new Discipline is determined by the number of Disciplines that the character is already a member of. The character uses the lowest Circle among all of his Disciplines to find the Legend Point cost for a Rank 1 talent on the New Discipline Talent Cost Table.
— Rank 1 Talent Legend Point Cost - Lowest Circle Attained
Second Discipline
1 - 1,300 2 - 800 3 - 500 4 - 300 5+ - 200 |
Grinder

The LP costs for learning Talent Knacks have increased as well:
QUOTE |
Talent Knack Legend Point Cost Talent knacks must be paid for with Legend Points. Talent knacks have no ranks — a character either knows a knack or he doesn’t. The character pays Legend Points to learn the knack only once. From that point on a character can use the knack whenever he uses the talent. The Legend Point cost of the talent knack is the same as purchasing the talent at the minimum talent rank required to use the knack (see Spending Legend Points in the Building Your Legend chapter, p. 420). |

Metatron, is probably planning on playing a Beastmaster, her preferred discipline, it'll be a dangerous thug with pets based on previous experience.
Grinder

Makes me curious: which pets will that be?
Btw, you all are familiar with the ADM? If not, you should download it and have a look, it gives much more freedom in customizing your character.

A drako?
Guess the game will take place in Kratas (or at least start there, depending on your actions). You'll have a house there, worked for different groups in the city over the last year and... well, I'm still figuring out what to do then. If anyone has plans/ideas/suggestions, let me know. I love player-driven campaigns.

The sheet is coming along, about 45000 lp spent, and I'm a solid circle 5 illusionist. Going to look at thread items and if swordmaster is worth it. Now some questions.
What are legal sources for talent knacks? I have the first magic book of 1st ed and the 2nd ed companion. Mostly i'm wondering about the one that allows me to cast quickly, personally I think it's broken on some levels, but reasonable on others.
Can my character have a friend who is a lower circle illusionist who she pretends to help in his stage show while doing most of the work.
Do spells cost legend points? What other limits are there on what I can have.
The two minor magic items each, does this include those listed as for sale?
Spell Matrix items? LP costs please.
Many thanks.

Most of the knacks made their way into RB version - just write down the ones you wanna learn and I check if they're included and what changed (if anything). Please note the increased costs of learning knacks.

Yup, no problem. Just write down name, race, short backstory, discipline ect.

Circle x 100 LP. Have to check Illusionists spells, but can't remember that there's a broken spell. You can learn all up to circle 5 (your current one).

Yurk! Thankfully I get one at every circle for free.
Can I have a Whip of defence as one of my items?
The other will be a wand.
Which Red Brick book are knacks in? Player's Companion I guess. I may have to buy a copy, is it available in hardcopy, or is it pdf/pod only?

Still working on mine. I like to have a fuller idea of the character before working out stats. I'll likely give you his background before his sheet.
Could you be more specific on "minor magical items"? I mean, I assume we're not getting the devastator spear or anything. But is this all straight from the book things, or can we ask for something specific? any thread items, or jsut lite hot plates or what?

Tell me what you want. A Thread Item has 4 ranks and usually only one Key Knowledge (its Name on rank 1). That's stuff you can get your hands no, Unique Items like Niokus Bow not.
