You can withold dice from your dice-pool to decrease the area. It probably means a pretty sub-par spell, but its an idea.
Yeah thats what i did with the barrier spell. But with confusion I would go through all that trouble and only get -1 or something. Much better to pin her in place.
Wouldn't it be useful have a bound Force 5 Air Spirit with Engulf and Confusion which aren't area effect, and would be quite handy to keep someone in place, knock them out, and bring them along?

I think its to violent for a pregnant lady, its a physical spell. It could harm the baby to. I might as well beat her unconscious with my fist or my clout spell. I dont think the mother to be would appreciate that to much.

She's nto going to appreciate being abducted, drugged, or having her baby stolen, either.

You have an ambulance, you and Roberts get out, manage to convince the woman you are the EMTs, get the woman into the ambulance, at which point after giving something away, you resort to the physical barrier spell to restrain her. Venusian Blue starts driving the ambulance away with the now frantically screaming pregnant woman in the back, Roberts looking at the back at the Tokyo Prefecture Drones angling the Ambulance and at two people running after the ambulance.
What do you want to do now?

Make sure the sirens are on and keep going. Tell Roberts to keep watching the drones and see if they follow us. Try to tell the lady that we are with evo and we are just insuring that this surrogte mother thing goes smoothly.

I dont get it. If this chick is a surrogate then why are we even having to kidnap her or hunt her down at all. She should be at some evo hospital waiting to complete a transaction. And if SB, Roberts, and Venusian were lied to and this chick is the biological parent then why would Evo even risk kidnapping people, they have to have tons of cash that they could just pay somebody to do exactly what this is suppose to be.

Just a random fact: On January 21st, 2070, Mars will be 146 million kilometers away, and receding at around a million kilometers a day. That's going to make for quite the crime scene investigation. That's an 8 minute light delay, each way.

Social Damage Control.
Well I did an IC of the way things have went so far for spirit bomb. I have Roger watching the drones. If they keep following us I'll probably wait until the guys on foot fall behind and then try to nuke the drones.
Meanwhile Spirit will be telling the woman that they work for the biological mother and that it is where she is being taken. Not sure if telling the truth requires a influence test. Can I start reading off facts from the file on my commlink like the bio mothers name, when they impregnated the target and what her name is and stuff like that.

so what are the guys at the gala actually doing? I'm really honestly not sure how to act against something that happened on mars?
I think there are a few things which need doing
1. Make sure the transmission incident is not being used as a distraction for another opration.
2. Damage control which would seem to be above our level
3.)Determining who was killed by whom and why, which will be a slightly longer term investiagtion.
4) My impression is that this was the genuine signal not a hacker intefering, If I am wrong we would also want to investigate the possible hacker
We should be able to get a full report from mars when its available , in the short term we maybe able to identify the killer as we have her image on file and can crossreference with ECO's databanks. This would give us somewhere to start however Mariko can't do that sort of thing.
We can start following up a personal angle by finding and interviewing the freinds and family of the deceased if they are available
We could also look for motives by trying to determine what signifigant business deals where going down here and trying to predict the effects of the signal on those again not something mariko would think to do or be able to do , too much analysis.
We need to find out who did it and why, and then ensure that they do not profit from it and regret their actions as 99.999999%of the money and people are on earth the trail will ultimatly bring us abck here.

Next, don't be afraid to post a request for anything you need to keep yourselves going. While it seems to be a squeaky wheel getting the grease scenario, it's actually easier for me to respond to a post stating exactly what you need to move along.

This attempt is probably not going to work, though if you want you can make the Cha + Con test at an additional -2 dice penalty.
Perception test also please.
I'm in Florida for the rest of the week. Internet connection here is pretty good, but I have no way of predicting my free time schedule. So, posting may or may not be erratic.

That's an expensive rocket, given the course of Mars at that date. Sure, it's close, but it's receeding! Maybe if you fired away from Mars, and used the Sun to slingshot you... sure, there's the radiation, but it'd be fast! Stopping at the end will be a problem though.
Still, who could pass up such an opportunity? All that's just astrophysics, and we don't have to deal with that. At this point it's probably too soon to tell if we'll *need* to go, but that doesn't mean we can't find a reason to if people want.

I want to contact the EVO CBT office/central command (or wherever is appropriate) and get the personnel files of the other CTB executives at the Gala (my fellow players.) I want whatever I'm cleared to get, which should hopefully be enough to know their names, occupations, and pictures, at the very least.
I'll also make a leadership test to try to get that information as quickly as possible (and to make sure it's as complete as possible.)
If anyone hasn't found something to do by the time I get their files, I'll happily begin delegating.
Of course, I (player, not character) may be knee-deep in Supra parts tonight instead, if that last phone call was any indication.

The influence check doesn't help calm the woman, there are also some other mods due to the situation.
Perception check:- a glance out the back shows one person running after the ambulance, but the other stops, turns and looks back and up at the sky and starts waving and signaling rapidly and pointing at the ambulance. Prefecture police are trying to re assure the crowd there is nothing to worry about. A quick look out the window reveals a Renraku Red Samurai Gun ship a few kilometers away altering course.

Orange Blossom Operational Clearance gets you access to almost everything. You think you might even be allowed to call Buttercup at any time. Maybe once. Since the entire team is granted that clearance level, you all have access to each others "official" personnel records at the very least.

Perception test: perception 4 + int 3 = 7 dice
1, 1, 1, 1, 3, 3, 1 = critical glitch
Then he is going to jump back into his body and cast a Detect Enemies(extended) spell at force 5 and sustain it.
Spellcasting 4 + magic 5 + SC Foci 3 + Mentor 2 = 14 dice
6, 3, 2, 5, 3, 3, 2, 6, 6, 3, 3, 3, 3, 1 = 4 hits @ 250 meters
Drain: 5s vs willpower 5 + charisma 5 + limited spell 2 = 12 dice

The last few weeks have proven to all that it isn't going to happen. No matter how awesome all of you are, and how much I want to do everything to keep things going, I'm simply not going to be able to do it. RL happens. Unplanned events occur and circumstances have changed. The expected window of my available time has taken off over the horizon and there's no hope of it coming back for at least 6 months. I knew what I was getting into, what work and commitment I needed to run a good game before I started, and I only started when I thought I could keep that commitment. Unfortunately circumstances have changed, and I can't support you in the way you all deserve.
The worst part of this is that anyone can see the awesome care and commitment all of you have made for this game and I am extremely sorry I can't continue to keep this alive. I want to thank all of you for what you've done to make this experience extremely enjoyable for me, which of course makes this decision all the harder for me, and I expect for all of you as well.

Hey I would just like to say thanks!! Without this game I would have never ironed out all the finer points on my mage. I now have a mage that is ready to play and one I am excited about.
The commitment thing scares me off from running a game too. It takes me hours just to write my own posts and stuff, I can only imagine how much time being a GM would eat up.
Anyways dont have any regrets and enjoy the things you can, nobody lives forever. I got something worth while out of this game before it had even started.
