Tarantula
Ugh, sorry guys. Totally spaced it. Plus my g/f gave me this extremely fun cold/throat thing that just makes me want to sleep and not talk. (Gotta love those sore throats).
Tarantula
Sorry again guys. Any idea when we want to try again? Now that the holidays are over, things should be a lot easier to coordinate between us.
Redjack
I'm actually good tomorrow (Tuesday) night for a few hours.
Backgammon
Yeah, Tuesday would work for me. Tarantula/Dantic?
Tarantula
I can make it work, I'll look for you guys online.
Redjack
Time to join the party.

Desperately seeking Sara, update #3

[ X ] Sally's Dicks are hired to find a runner who killed Detective O'Rourke of the NYPD by Detective Leighton of the NYPD.

[ X ] The team has a bad run in with a small time hood who goes by the name Burger after being set up by McDonnaghan, a retired detective retained by someone else to look into O'Rourke's death.

Sean thought he had it all figured out: The Lower East Side is NAO territory, contact Freewire. Freewire doesn't really have any contacts down there. He does He recommend they try to hook up with the Rat-Pack, but an introduction is required. There is mention that the Russians do quite a bit of smuggling throught the lower-east side.

Sean calls Goberov who in turn says he will make an introduction to Nicolay Levitsky. Nicolay in turn agrees to make introductions to the Rat Pack and pay the fee in exchange for some investigative work after the current run is over. Jason's analyze truth spell says the work is truly simple. He hooks the team up with Kaitlyn, of the Rat Pack. The duo meet her at a Cafe McHughs.

Lieghton calls and instructs the team to call him BEFORE intercepting Tripp. Sean also get a current of the police report from the scene, there is no mention of the drone that fired from across the street. The official report does not avoid the scene that the glass shattered inwards, but it does not draw attention to it either. The team also still has the casing from ground across the street that Jason found.

Max got additional information from London on Sara. Her husband had came to Manhattan with their son and arranged to keep Sara in Bogota and not being able to contact the son or family, hackers intercepting and faking the conversations. The father started out in sales, transferred to marketing and shot up to director before he was killed. She slipped off into the jungle and next surfaced in Manhattan. How she survived and traveled is unknown.

Sean instructs Max to start looking into O'Roarke. He is able to determine that O'Roarke was moonlighting as a shadowrunner, of course, the closest thing to evidence is O'Roarke, talking with an obvious team of runners: gothic looking female lead, male human street sam and dwarf female. Meanwhile, Max has decided to work out his headache with too much synthahaul.

Jason then summons some ancestor spirit as they sip their soykaf. The more information Sean gets, the less he knows. He knows the son is the key to the promotions, the mother's ordeal and O'Roarke's team of runners. He's even pretty sure that O'Roarke got himself killed. Lieghton is now a new angle, which in turn threatens the team's paycheck. As Jason communes with the spirits, Sean is giving serious thought to communing with Liam, the oak-shaman and friend of Tripp's........
Tarantula
Jason asked a few questions of his ancestors looking for guidance in the matter.
"Which tunnel will lead us to them?"
"The mother will defend the child much more than others though possible."

"Can you enlighten the path further?"
"The mother will go far beyond what is expected, that is her strength.
Her blood is strong, but it is blood that makes her stronger."

"Vampire?"
"No."
Dantic
Sorry, I thought that I had posted something about not being available till sometime after the middle of January, a combination of holidays and other things. Should be available sometime after the 18th. frown.gif
Backgammon
Ok, so the outlook of January took a bad turn.

I MIGHT be able to play this Friday 9th. I will not be able for the rest of the month.

So we can schedule for this Friday, but I may have to cancel on short notice.
Redjack
This Friday is out for me. Shall we schedule the next potential date and get it on our calendars?
Tarantula
Yeah, lets get the next date set and locked.
Backgammon
Since we're not playing for a stretch (again frown.gif), feel free to write fiction and post it up. Stories about your characters or even unrelated stories in New York, in-game ads, articles, etc promoting the feel of the city and campaign are all cool and I got the Karma bag open.

Next game date - in theory, I should be ok the first week of Feb (that would be the 6th). Kinda too far to tell though.
Tarantula
Should be ok for me.

QUOTE (MANHATTAN ENQUIRER: Manhattan-centric newsfeed)
Officer Murdered
In what appears to be a case of divorce gone wrong, Detective O'Rourke of the Manhatten PD, seventh precinct was killed attempting to apprehend Sarah Hernandez. Ms.Hernandez had killed her estranged husband earlier in the evening and was holed up with her son and another man, tenatively identified as her boyfriend.

QUOTE (WAKE UP!: Manhattan Neo-Anarchist community screamsheet)
Police Clampdown
WAKE UP! A rouge Manhatten detective died attempting to execute a mother defending herself and her child from the system. Earlier in the evening, her now ex-husband and corporate exec died from the wounds he recieved attempting to keep her from her son. Manhatten PD have stepped up their oppression effort under the justifcation of seeking the aforementioned mother, child and escort. Resistance rallies are still being planned. WAKE UP NEW YORK!

QUOTE (THE VILLAGE VOICE: Mainstream newspaper)
Police Officer Slain
A Manhatten police detective died during the course of an investigation overnight. A formal police report is still pending, but early details link this to the earlier shooting death of Michael Hernandez at the Mary Mount School For Awakened Kkids.

Are we still looking good for Friday, 2/6?
Tarantula
I just had a rpg game I play switch nights to fridays starting this week. I could still make the 2/6 game if needed, but I'd prefer if we could do it on 2/5. I'm free if everyone else is.
Backgammon
Just got back from some R&R in the Dominican Republic. So far, 2/6 still looks good.

Tarantula, Fridays are much much better. Can you bump your other game? As it is now, we have a batting average of once a month, would it be possible to give this game Friday priority?
Tarantula
Fridays can and will work, no biggy with the once a month we've been pulling. Just figured I'd ask and see what people could do. See ya on friday.
Dantic
eek.gif Well, sorry to say, but I'm going to be unable to make anymore games for at least a month. I'm traveling out of town with work, twelve hour days too, so no way I'd be able to stay awake long enough, even if I did try it. frown.gif
Backgammon
That's ok. We'll keep posting game info here, so just let us know when you're back into the fold smile.gif
Backgammon
Confirming it's a go for Friday 8pm EST

The endgame left a bittersweet taste in the detectives' mouthes. For once, they had managed to do somehting genuinely good, to help someone out for no other reward then the act itself. That felt good. But no good deed was left unpunished in this town. Leighton... How dangerous was he? Many questions surrounded him still. Who was he, really? The entire story was a toxi puzzle that burned your fngers when you tried to place the pieces.

O'Roarke, a detective shot dead by Tripp. Except that cop was a badge for hire. Pay him enough and he'd use his shield as an all-access pass to lie and murder. So who'd hired him? Seems like he was working with a mysterious team of runners. Aztech men no doubt. Sure, it made sense the Azzies would be involved. But then where did Leighton fit in? Who was he working for?

Sarah had been willing to go to the depths of Hell to protect her child, and by all accounts she had been. Her son was valuable, hotter than an undervaluated commodity Downtown stock brokers fought over. Aztechnology seemed up to it's old tricks. But why not just kill the mother? Maybe it was just a bad tactical decision from whatever devil was running this show. Maybe not.

Sally's Dicks usually closed cases with plenty of questions still lingering. But today they'd really gone and did it. It'd be another sleepless night.

Jason
QUOTE
Jason massaged bruised muscles. Some of those tunnels had been very tight. He stared at himself in a mirror. His genetic birth defects made him akward. He couldn't stop the vision from coming to his mind's eyes. Falling behind, running as fast as he could, but it just wasn't enough. The drone, a blinding ball of light hiding steel and bullet catching up to him. He had his ancestors to thank for his life. He made a mental note to pay hommage to them first thing tomorrow morning. They would understand he was too weary to do it tonight.

Again, Jason's sleep was unsteady. Nightmarish creatures of tar and vines threatned to tear him limb from limb, gutted bodies torn apart by bullets begged for help from muted lips. But the fleeting images gave way to an image that he would remember in the morning.

The old familiar night garden. Jason had been here before. It was a place of peace, of connection with his patron Ti-Tsang Wang, the Owl, the Savior of Lost Souls. Jason walked through the garden paths, to it's center. He found not his patron, however, but a boy - Sarah's child - greeting him.

The boy nodded as Jason approached. His presence was odd. Spells to affect dreams were possible, but to project one's self in this sacred place of dreams must surely be impossible.

The boy stood still, observing Jason curiously for a moment, before speaking with a soft voice.

"I have asked permission from your bird friend to be here" the boy stated. He looked up a tree, and following his look, Jason saw a plump owl standing on the branch, blinking it's large eyes slowly, overwatching the scene below.

"You are like the city, Jason Lee. Corrupt and polluted, your form is broken and horrible. Everyone turns their eyes away, to not see the uglyness. But inside, there is good struggling to be seen. You are the Fisherking. You are the city, and the city is you. You must heal each other. I see it in you."

The images spun a replayed dreamily in Jason's mind, untill they faded to dark. The rest of his slumber was undisturbed by any dream.

Sean
QUOTE
It was late, almost early, even, by the time Sean reached the modest comforts of home. Jason had gone to his room immediatly, leaving Sean alone. A moment passed over him, and he knew he couldn't go to bed right away. He had to shake it out of himself. He decided on a shower, opening an AR window with the trid for company. He watched reruns of a slapstick comedy show. He'd seen the episode already, but that added to the comfort in some way, the familiarity. He stretched the shower out, letting the hot water wash over him.

He came out the shower, and heard noise downstairs. Furniture moving? Shit. He grabbed his gun - more for show to the intruder than out of need - and stalked downstairs. He peered and could see a figure in the office area. He levelled the gun. "Freeze."

"Oh!" Hands went up, but to his surprise, Sean recognised Kaitlyn. "What the hell are you doing here?!" he asked her.

"Oh, uhm..." she picked up a bottle from the table and raised it to him. Sean recognised immediatly as a bottle of fine scotch. "Feel like sharing a drink with a friend?" she asked. Not one to refuse such an offer, Sean cracked a smile. "I'll get dressed and be right down".

Kaitlyn's scotch turned out to be indeed some seriously good stuff. She'd found it in a basement, she had explained. She found all sorts of things in the old basements. Plenty of skeletons to go with them. She was in a philosophical mood that night. She opened up to Sean about life in the Underground. She stared out the window in the den, talking and thinking. Her accounts of events passed would be punctuated by silences, where both sipped their drinks. Sean was drinking more, but how could he say no to such a fine liquor? "Too much" was not in his vocabulary - he simply drank "a lot".

Much of what Kaitlyn talked about Sean wouldn't recall. She did look beautiful. A beautiful girl like her shouldn't be so sad. He told her that. She looked up at him and smiled. She kissed him, snuggling her body against his. They didn't say anything more after that, as she took off her clothes and shared her intimicy with him. She held on tight to him.

Sean woke up in the morning, just in time for the meeting with Levitsky... well, probably a little late. He had a hangover headache, but, he tried to console himself, because of the quality drink, it was far better than it would have been with a similar binge with his usual drinks. He gritted his teeth and sat up. Recollections of the night came back to him, and he looked around. Kaitlyn was gone, no trace left. Sean thought about her and smiled. No pay, new enemies... but not a bad evening. Not bad at all.

WAKE UP!

The NYPD Inc and their fascit corporate masters have released some of the citizens they had arrested during the last few days' so-called police operation. The arrests were part of an intimidation campaign designed to scare the gatekeepers of freedom off - those patriots who make a living aussring alternative and unofficial routes of access to the Island. Our sources indicate the iron grip of the repressors tightened over the last few days due to a "person of interest" wanting to leave the city. Whoever you are, we hope you made it, and we hope you gave the pigs the finger while you were doing it.

New York Intelligencer

New York City, UCAS: Jania Shields, beat reporter for the NYI, was found dead in her home early this evening. Best known for her 2069 exposé on the Or'Zet rock culture in New York, Shields was seen as a cutting edge journalist willing to take every risk to get her story. It is unknown what story she was working on at the time of her death, but sources close to the Intelligencer indicate that it had something to do with the much talked about drug, Tempo. NYPD Inc. has promised an investigation into her death. She is survived by her mother and sister.

Everyone ok for tonight's game, 7pm EST?

For my part I'm fairly certain it's a go. There is a slight chance of last-minute cancellation - if that happens I will post here.
Backgammon
Ok, so no one wrote down today as a game day in their agendas...!

However, Quentra surfaced back up. He's got some more free time, so I'm having him join back in as a Technomancer. I figure with Dantic on hiatus he'll make a good replacement, and even so, I can handle 2 technos iso it should work out.

Next date is Friday 27th
Tarantula
I had it, but some shit came up on my way home from work, so I only just got home now. We'll do it the 27th.
Backgammon
Can't make tomorrow's game due to work obligations frown.gif

How are 5th / 6th looking?

12/13th are no go for me, I'll be in Boston due to work..

Tarantula
I could do 5th/6th.
Backgammon
Redjack - are you available Thursday and/or Friday?
Tarantula
6th is out for me. Close friends 30th bday party that night.
Backgammon
Ok. I know Redjack's got a hectic work schedule right now, so I'm assuming that if we don't hear from him, he can't make it tomorrow.
Redjack
I'm good for tonight
Backgammon
Awesome, let's do it smile.gif

7pm EST
Redjack
Next game on the 19th, right?
Backgammon
Still lined up as so, yes smile.gif
Backgammon
Still stuck in a bad project, left work at 8pm today, so might be a last minute cancellation tomorrow. Check the thread, I'll post if I crap out.
Backgammon
Aaaargh no game tonight frown.gif
Redjack
Darn. Ok. Good luck.
Backgammon
Definately no go for tonight either. Next week looks shaky - will post as we get there.
Backgammon
Well.... no go for this week. After 70 hour workweek last week and finishing at 1am on Monday, things calmed down, having put my life on hold for a week. I have to work down the list of priorities. So now my wife is dragging me to church tonight (the priority here is: make wife happy), which means that pushes my schedule down a day, so I have to use Thursday to write a SR proposal instead. Then Friday I have to pick up last weekend's activities, so that means going out with wife and friends to go see Watchmen.

On the plus side, the Manhattan ebook is out! For 3.95$ I recommend you pick it up, it's pretty cool. I have to get around to reading the neighbourhood section to flesh that into our games.

So sorry, we lost some good Sr opportunities this month cause of me. And I know now it'll be Redjack's turn to be in the shits, so we'll see what we can do in the coming weeks.
Backgammon
I miss shadowrun. 80 hour weeks < Shadowrunning.
Redjack
Yea. Me too. And I'm also tired of long hours at work.
Dantic
Just checking in, still alive grinbig.gif , seems everyone is in the same boat, work trumps SR. frown.gif My laptop also died on me, but I have a new one now, not sure what exactly is going to happen with work (loong story) but may be able to free up a friday sometime soon, so will keep checking in.
Backgammon
Hey, good to hear from you. Yeah... crazy couple of weeks. Hope to get a game up soon, I'm really itching for it.
Backgammon
Ok guys, I have some availabilities coming up:

Friday April 17th - free all night
Wednesday April 22nd - 7pm - 9pm Eastern

Probably more in the weeks after that, but my crystal ball is looking clear for those days. Let me know if you guys can.
Redjack
Friday the 17th = No good. I'm out of town and will be getting home that evening.
Wednesday the 22nd might work. I'll let you know when I get home.
Redjack
I think the 22nd will work. Should I lock it down?
Backgammon
It's good for me. Tarantula?
Backgammon
Got a PM from Tarantula - Wednesdays (in general) are no good for him. I think I'll have some game availabilities next week. I'll let you know probably around Monday what days will be good (probably Thurs and Fri)
