Most people asking for such rules have never even seen a gun IRL.

WTF, how could you even prove or be remotely sure of this statement?

Trying to stat shotgun rounds is just about the dumbest thing ever if you really think about it. If you want RL examples it would be hard to factor all of the little variables that might matter into what shotguns can actually do. So do you have a damage code that drops down per so many meters? How much more effective is armor at a distance? What will the spread look like? Which shell should I load now? To many factors to try to stat RL shotgun damage and put it into the Shadowrun universe. Keep the rules simple, sigh deeply, and leave it at that.

Honestly one thing I would have loved to see in shotgun round is rocksalt rounds, or white phosphorous rounds. If you put a round into an unarmored or lightly armored foe it would cause a heavy penalty to all of their actions for rocksalt rounds and some kind of damage over time for the white phosphorous rounds.

Why not just give the shotgun different damage codes at different ranges? Easiest "crude" fix.

MY strong recommendation is to go to your nearest gun store and look at their shell selections and buy some along with a shotgun and try it out. If you have a range that rents shotguns in reasonably proximity (or enough money to buy several shotguns) try out different gages and loadings to get an idea of their spread patterns.

Incidentally, I feel that slugs are the true way of the Jedi. I think that's because I like aiming carefully.

And the Jedi got they asses whupped because they're a pack of sissies. See Ep. 3 for confirmation. Not quite so sure I want to follow those examples, y'know?

Anywho, slugs will always have a place in my cold, dark heart but I feel that it's all about the #4 buckshot. You get 26 chances per shell and stuff explodes when hit by a full load o' this lovin'. Knowing a guy and his wife who are absolute surgeons with a shot-loaded 870, I can say with great confidence that you can be precise with shot as well if you practice a bit.
