During last nights game for some unremembered reason one player wanted to use a wheely bin as cover. It being late in the day and tiredness beginning to invade the few sane areas of the brain somehow the idea became to armour the bin. And then someone suggested making it motorised.

It took but a few seconds before the Dwarf-launching-wheely-bin-of-Doom was proposed - a seemingly inncent wheeled type bin with armoured sides and a small electric motor, housing a looney dwarf or two standing on a hydraulic ram catapult system. At the opportune moment the rigger or passenger flicks the switch and whoosh - the target is attacked by a pair of barking mad dwarfs hurtled out of a bin at speed!

And of course a bin is often overlooked so it can carefully maneuvered into position grinbig.gif

It is so silly but with a little sanity could work - sort of! silly.gif

In the cold light of day suddenly normal items of everyday could be 'droned' and made into useful (?) gear. Any suggestions? (apart from to keep taking the meds)

Dumpsters. Never be without someplace to stash the body!
Swivel chairs. They're just begging to be powered vehicles already, and if you can summon them remotely, so much the better.
Assuming tortoises are generally similar to modern computers (a big assumption), computer mice! Switch the mouse out, wait for the poor unsuspecting user, and LEAP!

Actually, that has potential -- yank out the overrides in a cyberterm and preload it with black ICE so the next person jacking in gets fried long before they ever hit the Matrix. grinbig.gif

Action figures!

Yes, I watched "Small Soldiers" one time to many grinbig.gif

Still, could be fun. One rigger with 10+ anthroform drones all connected to a Battletac computer. Ok, so the drones would be 10" high and perhaps look like "Renraku Red Samurai Action Figure Yoshimitsu" who, cares, No-one would suspect a toy to be a spy, except for the greedy little kid who decides to take "his" new toy from it's position and bring it home.
Zazen
A coach diner would make a cool drone. Watching people jump out as it suddenly starts rolling away would be pretty cool smile.gif

A bumper car in a local amusement park would be cool too. One moment you're tormenting some little girl stuck in a corner, the next you're flying down the highway at 80mph towards explosions in the distance.

Actually, that's actually a pretty good idea. Load it with cameras and now (providing you've got a need to) you've got a pair of eyes in the house. Or, in a sicker vein, if someone in the house is your wetwork target, load it with explosives, or go for the Chucky method and have it grab a knife from the cabinet.
Kagetenshi
Needle and appropriate compounds. Depending on storage space, you could load it with Kamikaze or something similar and give the target an overdose, or at least a nasty addiction that'll end up with them dead soon enough.

Heh, spike something in the house with a Berserker drug.

Record the video from the internal cameras and sell it on the side.

Follwing the "sick frag" threads, the person doing that isn't long for the world anyway.

But if you're gonna go, you might as well do it with some flair.

-Siege
Kagetenshi
Doing which? Controlling the drones? If they do it right, it'll look like the target overdosed on their own. A little evidence-planting and no one will think twice.

~J
Siege
Overdosing on something like Kamikaze? Depending on the target, the fact the victim has a relatively rare combat drug in his or her system is gonna raise some flags regardless.

-Siege
Kagetenshi
Fair enough, use another drug then. I chose kamikaze as likely having a low mean lethal dose. Even if it raises flags, you should be able to hide and then extract a drone that small...

~J
Siege
Actually, you could find probably spike the target with certain drugs that would leave a trace but not raise eyebrows as to the relatively unique nature.

Biotech anyone? grinbig.gif

Enough adrenaline could do it or an air bubble introduced into the blood stream...hmmm...

-Siege

Edited to complete the half-assed thought.
Kagetenshi
You bring up a very good point. A prick to the neck, a little puff of compressed air, and odds are they're not going to be sentient again if they survive.
Or there's always the carcinogen idea...

~J
Large Mike

I have it on good authority that it'd take *alot* of air to affect someone. Lots and lots. So... that's not such a great idea.
Siege
Actually, I think an air bubble in someone's vein is a really, really bad thing.

Any paramedics on board have an opinion on this?

-Siege
grimshear
Then hit them with some nanotech or something that targets, say... neuro transmitters or hemoglobin. All of a sudden they just sort of... die.

It would be one hell of a wetwork MO, but hey, you might as well be faous for something!

It *is* a lot of air, especially in a vein. Not so much if in an artery... grinbig.gif

I was thinking maybe drone up a VW Beetle. And add teeth to it. And maybe a grab/Arm.

"Ok, there's this car right, an old, beat up VW. And so the mark walks by it...and the car reaches out an' EATS him, sweartogod. Goddammed scariest thing I've ever seen, just scooped up in, and then these teeth came out an' shit... No, I don't wanna talk about it - I don't wanna think about it. Look, just give me my money - I'm getting out of this town."

Could a human form drone skeleton be built and then have a dead body reassembeled around it?

Granny's back and she's got a chainsaw vegm.gif
Siege
Sure, but for all that you might as well kidnap someone, outfit them with plastic surgery, autoinjectors and embedded skill chips.

And 2 kilos of C-12 rigged to a biomonitor...serves you right for getting within 2 meters! grinbig.gif

Going off the bird idea, I love the thought of a small drone made to look like a Raven or something like that. You could make it a small vector thrust or something and give it the wings to complete the look and perhaps some stablization. That would make for a great spy drone, what security guard is going to pay attention to a Raven?

Even better, pigeons.

Fly right into the parameter and land at the guard's feet, make cute coo-coo sounds, take down the guard's name and a nice close up of his face while he feeds your "pigeon".

One of my players made one of those once. He had to pay a hunk of cash to make it look and move in a convincing manner, but otherwise it was very pigeon-like. I think it was a small rotor-drone chassis. In the description it says that there are small drones that use beating wings instead of a rotor. I think they called them "hummingbird drones".

They were excellent spies.

Just make sure you have a secondary car that looks more suspicious so that your americar won't get blown away.

Possible armament? Well, considering the actual size you should be able to make it into a large turret with a built in mortar and panther assault cannon.

Well i once had an idea...

A Van of some description, with sides and back linked to hydraulics and a motorised rollerdoor roof, and a MASSIVELY reinforced floor, mounting a 80mm howitzer with a chopped barrel on a turret.

****The Van rolls into the road outside the lonestar compound, its tyres humming off the pavement, it reaches the section of the road right out the front and executes a turn, placing it int he center of the road with its rear doors pointing towards the compound. With a gentle hum the rollerdoor roof begins to retract, while with a mechanical whine the sides of the van fold down to the road surface, revelainin in the back of the van, a turn of the century howitzer turret, with a earth rending boom the front doors of lonestars offices bucked inwards as the shell hit them, blowing them back out when the shell exploded in the foyer, spraying glass, furniture and bodies onto the lawn. to discourage opposition the turret rotated and put another shot into the vehicle pool, the shell ripping through the flimsy metal of the rollerdoor and touching off an explosion in the fuel storage tanks, blowing the west wing of the building appart and starting a massive fire in what remained of the building.

On cue another van squealed around the corner and came to a halt in front of the howitzer van, a team dressed in black dismounted from the van and moved through the lonestar compound through what remained of the front entrance and turning east. The turret began to rotate to the right, it centered on the intersection that the previous van had just came around the cannon roared and the shell hit the pavement just as the lonestar patrolcar rounded the corner, the windsheild was starred by flying pavement and the front tyre hit the craters edge and snapped the front axle the car spun to a stop and another shell roared in through the vehicles trunk, shredding the car and scattering shards of metal over the street.

the cannon tracked towards the building again and centered on the doors, almost on cue the team appeared the troll carrying a slumped body over each shoulder, 2 team mates sending streams of lead back into the building , one of the figures stumbled and fell as a heavy round smashed through their leg, the way it bent as the figure tried to stand was evidence that it was broken. A loudspeaker on the van containign the howitzer barked "get down" all 3 black garbed figures dove to the ground and covered their ears, the troll did his best to cover both his and his figures ears as the cannon shell blasted into what was left of the foyer, collapsing the middle of the building. The team struggled back to their feet and stumbled towards the road, the troll reached the van first and the little reguard for their wellbeing threw them into the back wall of the van and reached back to help his team mates, he assisted them into the van with none too much gentleness and grabbed out a heavy machine gun, its belt of ammo reaching back into the van as the heavy whine of the vans doors retracting filled the air, a yellowjacket hellicopter rounded the 5 story building behond the van and peppered the howitzer with heavy guage slugs before it was riddled with holes by the trolls machinegun. With a heavy click the pannels snapped into their up positions and the rollerdoor roleld itself out, with a gently thrum the van engines revved up and drove down the street, past the remains of the smoking patrolcar, with a heavy explosion behind them the yellowjackets autopilot tried to land the helicopters remains in the space where the helipad on the vehicle pool used to be.

The lonestar vehicles began pouring into the area, but nobody paid attention to the two vans with markings of a local bakery moving out of the area at less than the speed limit. ****
RedmondLarry
You may want to get the howitzer silencer to help reduce attention to your vehicle.
thunderchild
it would need a truck AND a van.

QUOTE (thunderchild)
80mm howitzer [...] turn of the century howitzer turret [...]

Better make that 76mm then. I'm glad you mentioned the hydraulics and the massively reinforced floor. smile.gif

Remember, though, that a light howitzer ain't that big. The HE charge is, what, 1kg in weight? I don't have SOTA63, but a light howitzer shouldn't do any more damage than the M12 Mortar (which, judging by projectile weight, is about 80mm) -- 18D with HEs.

You'd be better off with an 8-tube missile launcher -- far smaller and lighter, more accurate, higher damage, better anti-armor capability, higher RoF, etc. The only real advantage the Light Howitzer Van has over the Missile Launcher Van is higher range (though not by much), cheaper ammunition and simpler indirect fire. (Well, okay, a howitzer has more style...)

Ie it would be better to drive the MLV in front of the Lone Star compound and leave the LHV 1.5km away, behind a forest hill...
thunderchild
I chose the howitzer for general style, however a pair of linked vindicators has its charms.

Missiles just lack style.
Austere Emancipator
QUOTE (thunderchild)

To be in the same size/weight/power range as a howitzer, you'd need at least a dozen Vindicators.

Now there's an idea... Parlez-vous 50,000rpm?

That's 120kg of Shadowrun Ammunition per CT. biggrin.gif
Fortune
If you're going to go that far, you might as well just use Metalstorm.
Kagetenshi
A dozen whirling miniguns have more style than a single block of Metalstorm.

~J

Edit: and can be pointed at 12 targets, if necessary.
Austere Emancipator
And can fire all kinds of different ammo as required, and can keep it up for much longer (connect each to a 10,000 ammo bin), and are more reliable. Though 4 large Metalstorm blocks with a crapload of small barrels each might do the trick.

But there's still the style thing and, like Kagetenshi said, there miniguns beat Metalstorm by far.
Shev
Yeah, but at 120 kg ammo per CT, space could be something of an issue biggrin.gif I like the howitzer idea...force so excessive, security is almost useless. Cameras, sensors, etc... all moot after that first blast . grinbig.gif

However, there is the question of witnesses...
