Juchuuu....so they are no option. Great, but cool that we discussed it.^^

Rating 6 should be enought and only cost 15k nuyen.gif

Is that so? "Only"?^^ How much do you earn per run? We get about 5-10k, subtracting lifestyle-costs, hardware etc. I couldn´t spend that much money if the shit would hit the fan now.^^ So cure is once again, a thing for the rich and famous.^^
Backgammon
Which you have to admit is cyberpunk.

Did you miss the post above where I said 38.5k for an unlimited supply that you can share with anyone by simply touching them?

Ok let's just pretend for a moment theres someone who really isn't hung up on the whole ghoul thing. Someone who really likes the idea of following up on a nearly 20 year old story line by bringing back some pc's that helped liberate Frosty from the gang life she was embroiled in as a youngster. Someone who throughly enjoyed missions like "Bottled Demon".

Assuming all of this is Dusk shaping up as a good lead in to a series? Hows the rest of the story? Reviews positive or negative leaving out any bits about personal hang ups involving disease rules or dislike of IE's. How's the "story"?
crizh
Can't really tell 'cos I don't have a copy of Dusk. However I loved Bottled Demon and Harlequin.

I know I've come across as hostile here but I'm only really hostile to variations on the 'you wake up naked without any gear' meme in RPG's.

I completely disagree with Fuchs about uber-powerful NPC's, in my, less than humble, opinion they are fine as long as they are not sucking the fun out f the game.

When it descends into the GM metaphorically interfering with himself using a pet NPC, that's a problem. Otherwise, if you can't be a legend, stand next to one...

I do agree that exposing the PC's to the [broken] HMHVV-III mechanics just to show off how powerful Frosty is sucks majorly. From what I can tell all the playtest groups erred on the side of caution in running that scene, perhaps that ought to have been a cue to tone it down a bit.

Otherwise I'm thinking The Dawn of the Artifacts arc is going to be awesome.

From what has been said so far I wouldn't bother running it for vanilla 400bp characters. Experienced (100+ karma) characters only need apply. Preferably with plenty of experience in smuggling and operating internationally. Denver Missions characters might work out very well.

Well, having played both H1 and H2, and bottled Demon, here's the big difference:

Yeah, no metaplanar quests until at least #3. nyahnyah.gif

edit: In all seriousness, though, consider each artifact a piece of a puzzle, and by extension, each adventure. The first is just to introduce you to the characters, to the theme (pre-Awakening magical artifacts, globe-hopping, thinking on your feet, introducing the artifact trade and some of the movers and shakers in it, ie, Aztechnology, the Atlantean Foundation, the Draco Foundation, etc). When you just have one part of the puzzle, it doesn't do much. As you gather the pieces of the puzzle, more is revealed. And, in all fairness, had we thrown in major magical mischief in the first, or a huge amount of backstory, it would turn off a lot of the newer fans or returning fans. The series is designed to slowly immerse the characters in some of the biggest secrets of the 6th world...

With that being said, people who are uninterested in the backstory can play the adventures without worrying about it. People who like the backstory, will be able to "read between the lines" to see some of it, and as the series progresses, more is revealed. Characters who've played through Harlequin's Back may recognize Frosty and say "WHOA, I want more money!" -- and that's pretty fair. wink.gif

Yeah, I actually expected something magical in this adventure. Something related to the artifacts. Something that made this adenture different from "get the prototype (back)". Bottled Demon managed that, for example.

And really, even Tiger Eyes doesn't yet know precisely what #4 looks like ...

Crizh, he's saying Bishop should have tried RAW before hand waving the Infection rules away.

Sorry, is that directed at me?

Assuming it is, did you read the previous page? Bishop did use the RAW. Sounds like his players suffered quite badly as a result.

Errrrr just one question, wern't artifacts the theme of the X-box game? *cringe* For as much as that storyless POS could have a theme.
Adarael
They were also present in many, many products predating that. Harlequin, Bottled Demon, Survival of the Fittest... a buncha others, too.

Will DoTA include artifact creation guidelines for home games or just introduce a few new ones?

Yeap. Most Fantasy Games have ancient artifacts though and thus I am not worried pollution.
