It's actually an inverse cube function IIRC. You get a rapid falloff but minor effects go out a long way.

But having to do the math would be a pain. The only reasonable solution using a non-linear effect I can think of would be some precalculated effects for large blasts and the GM told to interpolate. Hmm, probably won't work either.
