First glance it looks good Grinder. Is the Olympian morph you have in your stat's the morph you have on Phalen's Recourse, or the morph you will be in on Renewal? When the group was deciding whether to physically travel or to ego-cast to Renewal I gave them a list of available morphs on Renewal, as well as 5,000 credits that the morph was assumed to have. Here was a list of morphs on Renewal:
Flats
Splicers
Exalts
Mentons
Olympians
Sylphs
Bouncers
Hibernoids
Remade
Workpods
Dragonfly
Flexbots
Some are base models, and others may have been modified by their previous owner (add up to 5,000 credits on mods).
As for equipment, Dr. C will be providing you a contact on Renewal. You, and the others if needed, can use the contact up to Moderate cost. Anything higher will need to be covered by you guys.

I'd love to get a Remade morph on Renewal (wasn't sure if that was possible). The Olympian morph is the one Ahab is currently in at Phalen's Recourse.

Curious if the rest of us could use the opportunity to switch bodies, if we wanted, or if the facility only has one ego bridge and it would be busy downloading Ahab.... I'm not sure I need one, but it might be a good idea for Dr. E to pick up a "spare" morph for the mission (on his own dime, if need be) and keep his primary body here in case our initial recon of the mines goes disastrously.

Also, had a question about the kinds of morphs that had gone missing since we started (I assume a few more are gone by now, including Mudlark). This may have already been answered, though. Any pattern to the morphs - for example, are there reports of pods and synths going missing as well as biomorphs?

1. Yes, you have the option to rent (p. 278) a morph for your time on Renewal, or trade in your morph towards a new one.
2. The morphs of the missing people are:
2 boys - Flats
5 workers - 1 Bouncer, 2 Flats, and 2 Splicers
Also, as of now, no new reports of people missing. So at this point, 7 missing and one dead (Mudlark - confirmed by Dr. C).
3. Didn't really get into it, but after docking Attar would have helped you smuggle them down.

What about a Spare Morph from Gatecrashing? Could come in handy if we need to instantly relive our deaths
BlackHat
Apr 6 2011, 12:24 AM
IIRC, Jimson hasn't picked that one up yet... but it does have the perfect morph for slotting dead teammate's cortical stacks when something nasty kills them.

EDit: Oh, lol, its called a "spare" and you were mentioning it by name.
Xahn Borealis
Apr 6 2011, 12:39 AM
It honestly should be called something better than that, especially when you've got other ones with more memorable names less likely to cause confusion, like Dvergr and Ripwing.
Jimson
Apr 6 2011, 03:34 AM
You are correct, I do not have Gatecrashing yet. I was really wanting that book, but since my players here don't seem too interested in EP, it kind of took the wind out of my sails.

I find it easier to read dead-tree versions then PDF's at work.

But based on what I'm hearing, and since things are going well here, I'll pony up the $10 and pick it up. I liked what I saw in Sunward, but didn't really apply much to what we are doing here around Saturn. While we are waiting for me to find $10, does someone want to post the info on the Spare Morph?

QUOTE
Spare morphs are small, cheap, lightweight, synthetic
shells designed to be used as a replacement should
someone’s original morph be killed or destroyed. A
cortical stack (retrieved from the character’s previous
morph; see p. 268, EP) can be easily plugged into the
spare morph, effectively resleeving them (they must
make Integration, Alienation, and Continuity Tests
as normal; see pp. 270-272, EP). Once plugged in, it
takes only 3 Action Turns for the cortical stack’s data
to be read and checked for integrity and the ego to run
inside the spare’s cyberbrain.
Spares are designed for portability. Packed as a flat
disc 15 centimeters in diameter and with a mass of 2
kilograms, when activated they pop into a spherical
shape with 6 slender and retractable 20-centimeter
limbs (3 arms and 3 legs). They are a common piece
of equipment for gatecrashing teams.
Enhancements: Access Jacks, Basic Mesh Inserts,
Cyberbrain, Extra Limbs (3 Arms/3 Legs),
Grip Pads, Mnemonic Augmentation, Puppet Sock
Mobility System (Movement Rate): Walker (2/8)
Aptitude Maximum: 20
Durability: 15
Wound Threshold: 3
Advantages: Armor (2/2), counts as a small target in
combat (–10 to hit; p. 193, EP)
Disadvantages: Social Stigma (Clanking Masses)
CP Cost: 5
Credit Cost: Moderate
Here's a pic.

Apr 7 2011, 05:32 PM
Grinder, if you do not have any questions for Dr. C, I will put another IC post dealing with your arrival and have you roll some Integration/Alienation with your new morph. Also, anyone else considering picking up a backup morph?
BlackHat
Apr 7 2011, 07:23 PM
I am considering it. When I get home from work tonight I will go over my resources and brush up on the rolls I would have to make to get one using reputation. IIRC, Dr. E had decent rep, so he might be able to use it to secure a spare, if he can't buy one with cred.
Jimson
Apr 7 2011, 07:37 PM
Sounds good. I didn't list of quantity of the morphs available, but don't think it will be a problem since there is only 4 of you. If you all choose the same one, then I'll have to roll to see how many there are.

Grinder, were you still going with a Remade on Renewal?

BlackHat
Apr 8 2011, 01:45 PM
Walking through the steps, both to make sure I am doing this right, and to refresh everyone else on buying things in EP.
Plan is for Dr. E to try to get a Spare for the team to use if one of them should die and the stack is recovered.
Looking over Dr. E's finances, he has 14,840 in credits, and has rep 40 with firewall, autonomists, and hypercorps, and 80 with scientists. His networking with those factions is 15, 40, 20, and 45, and it doesn't seem like his specializations will apply here on Renewal (at least not without some additional digging).
Spares are moderate credit cost, which would be a level 3 favor or 1,000 credits if the hab doesn't use rep as its currency. Since we're outer-system, I think calling in favors is more common (and preferable), so I'll at least start there. As a level 3 favor, it should take about an hour, and will refresh in a week.
Since I mentioned the plan of contacting Dr. Banks for a favor, let's go with that. He's a scientist, and interested in gatecrashing, so he might have a spare or know where we can get some. If not, Dr. E will take his request to the RNA social network and see if anyone can pull some strings before his "expedition". Since Dr. E's rep is 2 levels above the favor he would be asking, he would get a +20 to the networking test, bringing his target number to a 65. Time for the roll...
1d100 (65) = 34... so probably success.
Will start the conversation IC shortly.
As for switching himself into a new morph, I decided not to. Firewall is insuring this one (IIRC) and as an asynch, he'd have some trouble adjusting to a new morph right away, and he'll need to be at the top of his game. That said, if he dies, it'll be handy to have a spare on hand.

Ok Grinder, time for some roles.
Going to need an Integration test (SOM x 3) and an Alienation Test (INT x 3). I don’t see any Adaptation qualities on your sheet, and I’m going to assume everyone has resleeved at least once so NO -10 modifier. See p. 271-272 for info on resleeving (Integration and Alienation). If you see any appropriate modifiers that I may have missed, please include them in your roll.
Based on your rolls, I’ll let you take care of your resleeve post and coming out of the back room with the ego bridge.

IIRC, Jimson said anyone who picked up a morph here could add 5000 credits of custom modifications (beyond what they normally have) - which represents customizations previous owners have made. If that's the case, the Neurachem would consume the 5K, but the rest of it only adds up to another 1K. So, maybe that's small enough that Jimson is willing to consider the whole package a "high" cost. If not, and you have to stick to 5K in mods, maybe you could call in favors or pay credits to cover the difference. IIRC, Dr. Cornelius told you we could call in some favor with him worth a moderate cost (which is the difference). Maybe we can do that and call it good. (The favor you'd be asking for would be a slight upgrade to the agreed upon resleeving that Firewall will cover, since you have reason to think this mission is particularly dangerous and you want a better perception package).
Jimson
Apr 15 2011, 07:05 PM
Thanks for doing my legwork BlackHat. For the Remade with 6,000 credits worth of extra goodies, it will cost you a level 3 favor with Firewall.
Also, nice job on the Integration. "Excellent Success (MoS 30+) - No ill effects. Character acclimates to new morph in no more than a few minutes."
As for your Alienation, not too bad...just barely failed.
Now that you are on Renewal, I'll let the group handle introduction and information exchanging. I'm really enjoying how things have picked up. Hope we don't lose any more players.

Maybe. Not sure how the whole process works, but I would imagine it would not be strange for a newly sleeved person to emerge from the ego-bridge room in little more than a hospital gown. I'm not sure if Ahab's equipment at character creation was going to be equipment he purchased here, for use in the adventure, though, or if he or Jimson expected us to spend some time pulling favors to get Ahab equipped and ready to rock before going into danger.

As I understand it, Dr. C has already resleeved and questioned Mudlark, and has given Ahab a specific message to relay to the team.
