you know what i mean, if you use creative language like the drek and frag its part of the genre. If you start using blantly homosexual jokes and crued language i would take offense to it, When i read the other forums i like color not Vulgarity, creative imaginations make the best games. I don't care about a loud mouth drunk who curses all the time and makes references about sex all the time. i mean use your vocabulary most people have GED's these days also there is a dictionary online to help those who don't know what people say these days to help explain what they are saying.

And I agree.

But I thought we were not yet to the blatantly and crude stage.

Maybe I've been de-sensitized. If so sorry I offended and thanks for heading us off.

Some time I'll tell you what my wife thought, the first time she saw the decor of the first house I ever owned.
Had a couple of roommates from college and rented them a room dirt cheap as long as they split the bills.

I had to let her know that that the decor was was hard work of a couple of my roommates and the furniture belonged to them.

We had been remodeling for the last couple of year and they did a great job on the design. I couldn't pick out a color to save my life.
The house according to my roommate was originally early American Trailer-home (dark paneling with mirrored tiles on the wall) while the kitchen was 70s canary yellow.

We tore it out, plastered the wall, put in a sky light, put in new lanolin, counters, and painted the cabinets. Looked 200% better.

What caught my future wife's eye was the brand new rose patterned Victorian couch, the teddy bear in a southern bell dress with a sun hat and parasol on the coffee table, and the painting of very good looking man with a bare chest and tight jeans.

Hehe, I hadn't even begun to touch on vulgarity, but that comes with the job I suppose. IRL I'm military, and aircrew to boot. You know the saying "swear like sailor"? We make sailors blush.

I apoligize for my character sheet STILL not being done. I'm having a very hectic week at work and it's a struggle to find enough time to read these posts and reply to them, let alone sit down and plan out a whole character sheet. So, sorry. Hopefully I'll be able to get something tomorrow morning.

You're still good. Right now my post rate is pretty high. Once the game gets underway, it will slow down; Which is why I wanted to make sure everyone understood that the games are for the long term. In February, the Puyallups PBP will be 4 years old. Thanee & Kvasac have been with me from the VERY beginning!! I think they'll deserve a nice longevity bonus in February to celebrate!!

Going forward and starting immediately, all characters submitted via a "Spreadsheet Character Generator " will be immediately rejected with prejudice. Feel free to use those programs to assist you with your concept and even determining costs, but I don't care to see them or deal with translating them or deal with the use of "optional rules" nor miscalculations by these things.

Thanks, your cranky GM.
-RJ

Please submit characters in the format of a simply BP and nuyen cost:

25 Race = Dwarf
10 Bod[base 2]
20 AGL[base 1]
30 Rea[base 1]
10 Str[base 3]

Puyallups II
Aeryn - An attractive elven woman in her late twenties. She is a little below average height for an elf with a willowy figure. Her waist-length raven-black hair is worn open, with a few shorter strands framing her face. Team mates will learn she is a well connected smuggler and rigger.
Cynic - A hard life kid barely college age, Cynic is cocky and full of himself. The only reason he's probably still alive or not in a street gang is his ability to sling mana.
Zion - Male, elven street samurai with dermal armor, he keeps his hair cut short and carries himself with a former military bearing. Despite that he is reasonably outgoing and friendly.
Papa Smurf - NPC Hacker. Part time to the team he currently has only been available remotely.
Lynx - A beautiful young woman of Latino heritage, with her short hair dyed platinum-blonde. She always wears a headband and usually wears the styles of the latest Hong Kong action trid stars. Team mates will learn that she is a face who fights like a street samurai.

This game is about to lose Lynx as her player has gone MIA. You could replace the NPC or come up with another concept that meshes with this team.
phlapjack77
Ok, here are 3 concepts.

1. Human mage with mostly health / detection spells. Street (gutter) lifestyle, totem of the Rat. Older, slightly strange. Possibly played with a slight comic-relief type of tone. No cyber.

2. Human ex-Lone Star cop. Lost his left arm on duty, but Lone Star declined to pay benefits, and fired him instead. Wife left him. Positive and upbeat despite all this. Lightly cybered. (I realize he's probably just my projection of Jet from CowboyBeebop.)

3. Dwarven mechanic and demolitionist. Loves to build 'em up and tear 'em down. Has a military background. Lightly cybered, mostly headware.

Leaning towards #2, although #1 also seems like it could be alot of fun.

I like #3, you never see enough dwarves or demolition experts.....but dwarven demolition experts, there's the gold.

"I like blowing stuff up!!!"
Redjack
If you made #2 with a bunch of contacts. I think he would mesh the best. The team is smugglers. They have a mage and the need to blow stuff up is generally few and far between. However, a reasonably well connected former cop (perhaps who was a little dirty) who be a good fit.

Let me see an extended concept.

Now that I think about it, I've been trying to get back into playing Myth, this must be where the idea came from.

"Outta my way!"

Extended concept of #2 to follow in the next few days...

I was quoting the dwarven demolitions teams from the old school warcraft games (not WoW, actual Warcraft 1, 2 and 3)
Redjack
Considering recruitment for a few new players for my existing games: Puyallups II [ OOC ], Puyallups IV [ OOC ] and Barrens II [ OOC ]. These games are more black hat than Pink Mohawk, more street level than professional. I will start any new characters outside of the game threads to insure a little commitment to a pbp before introducing them to the existing game threads.

400bp. Characters should be balanced; No min-maxing please. Extremely high dice pools are discouraged as your character would overshadow existing characters.

One free contact: Fixer [ R:3; L:1 ] you may spend build points to raise loyalty as high as a 4.
Sengir
Since you mentioned black hats in the other thread, I have this concept lying around for a character who is basically the classic hacker archetype: He "explores" hosts and tinkers with hardware for the thrill of discovery...or for money, as long as he can tell himself that it's happening on his terms and he's nobody's pawn.

Statwise an Orc TM following the Black Hat Paragon, I'd focus on Hacking and Hardware, but with an eye on working on-site and not just from the living room couch. Hardware also happens to be a nice skill for breaking those pesky maglocks.

I know hackers can be a bit...difficult, and to make matters worse it would be my first PBP, so feel free to give me the brush-off wink.gif
Grinchy McScrooge
I have a concept that I've been developing that might fit.

The character is a street rat recently arrived from Hong Kong after running afoul of The Smoke Circle Society. He's squatting in Puyallup because he only has a few creds and there are no Triads. Now he's looking for a way to make some money and build a new life for himself.

Gamewise:
• 17-year-old human Chinese male
• speaks fluent Cantonese, with some English
• physical adept with focus on parkour and martial arts
• grew up on 1970's chop-socky trids

I'll have his character sheet up in the Cast of Shadows thread by tomorrow evening for your perusal.
phlapjack77
I'm interested in joining one of these games - I have a few character ideas I've been kicking around in my head (who doesn't? smile.gif)

1) Noir detective mage
2) AI hacker, modelled somewhat after the librarian in Snow Crash
3) Street Sam from a previous game, not a combat monster but with some drone support

It seems like the Barrens game only has one player who is a street sam, and the Puyallups IV has a few players I can't quite tell who is what. If you'll let me play, you can point me in the direction of the game / character you think would be best.
almost normal
Took me long enough to find my muse, but once it hit, it was fun. Banged out the character right, and was fun letting it develop naturally.

Moses, mundane human detective, no cyber or bio at all.

Late 40's, heavy build, rock solid hands. Was on patrol last year when he witnessed two cops beating down an Orc female. Pulled over to assist and secure the scene, when he did he quickly assessed that it was two new guys taking their frustrations out on the locals. Asked them to stop, was ignored, told them to stop, was ignored. Pulled out his service weapon and shot one of the cops in the backside with a gel-round, and warned the other that his smart-select system gets mixed up some times. Unfortunately for the trio, the entire incident was being filmed by a blogger, and the trid of the incident hit the matrix quickly. The Denizens of the sprawl took to calling him 'Moses', after the biblical figure who struck down an Egyptian he witnessed beating down his people, as they had no actual name with which to call him. Lone Star HQ quietly issued him his walking papers, and he's been on his own since. Terrible waste of a pension.

Char is up in the Cast of Shadows for reference.
Thanee
Puyallups II right now has an ex-military (Zion), an ex-cop (Lucky), and a smuggler/rigger (Aeryn) as active characters. Characters focused on Magic and Matrix would be good.

Puyallups IV right now has a magician (Revan), a mystic adept (Kit), and a hacker with decent combat and social skills (Jazz) as active characters.

Barrens II right now only has a street samurai (Val) as active characters, but seems to be a game focused on a small number of PCs.

This ex-cop character....Lucky, is his name? Sounds awesome smile.gif

Any prefs, Redjack? I could throw the street sam at Puyallups IV, or the AI hacker or mage detective at Barrens II

Here are the current characters in my games. NPC's currently round out each of the teams and could be displaced by a PC.
Barrens II
- Valery Strobokov, Male Elven Street Samurai
- Arkansas, Male Ork Rat Shaman
- Umbra, Male Ork Physical Adept
- Athena, Female Hacker
- Slick, Male Human Ganger
- Toad, Male Human Ganger

Puyallups II
- Aeryn, Female Elven Rigger/Smuggler
- Zion, Male Elven Street Samurai, former military
- Lucky, Male Human Former Lone Star Cop
- Papa Smurf, Male Troll Combat Hacker
- Cynic, Male Human Ganger Wiz-Boy

Puyallups IV
- Jazz, Female Human Hacker/Face
- Kit, Surged Female Elven Shinto Mystic Adept
- Revan, Male Dwarven Chaos Mage
- Jake, Male Human Rigger

The Barrens story has a strong subplot of Val working through his amnesia. Let me look through each of your concepts today and post back on those.
Redjack
I am kinda methodical about character creation for pbp. This is a story telling as much as anything. Players who has characters with a good foundation for telling a story last longer. It also helps me throw random elements into your character's lives and tell between run stories. In your history or in your character sheet I would like to see the contacts fleshed out a little more... or I can flesh them out. As we go through the process, I may negotiate with you for subtle changes via PM.

@Almost Normal
Here are the results of my analysis of your character. Please advise.
1) 411bp. Build should be to a 400bp max
2) Your rating 6 contact is of concern for a street level game. Rating 4 would be recommended. Loyalty 6 is fine given the connection.
3) Your glasses are availability 16R. Max availability is 12 for a starting character.
4) Your comlink does not have an operating system
5) Your System rating will be constrained by your Response rating. Program rating will be constrained by your system rating. ergo: You have a lot of rating 6 programs costing a lot of nuyen that will not function at a rating of 6.
6) You might want a simrig for VR/simsense
7) You have 21 unspent skill points for knowledge skills.

1. I'm showing 400BP, I'll have to have another look. Sorry for making you do the math on that.
2. Roger roger, I'll fix that up. I understand the feel of street level, just didn't equate the connection for whatever reason, apologies.
3. Yeah, that's another math error, apologies once more. Wasn't adding availability, just using highest.
4. No it does not. That'll be fixed.
5. I'll reduce to 4, thanks for pointing it out.
6. Reducing the software might allow me to afford that now, good call.
7. Yeah. Driving to work this morning, thinking about the character, realized I never did knowledge. Was hoping I'd have a chance to update it tonight before you saw, but you're on your A game, and I fail. Ah well. It'll be fixed tonight.

The 11BP diffrential though is bugging me. I'm in no mood to make you do any more work then you've already done, but I can't figure out where the 11 extra BP is being used. The char-gen program is reading an even 400.

As far as extras go, the second lifestyle was purchased as a place of work, I hadn't made that clear. The fake license is for his private-eye business.

In a good mood, and you're particularly responsive, so I'll fix it up on my lunch break within 2 hours. What would be an appropriate way to pay for his patrol car being equipped with working Lone Star database access? Or is that something you'd be more comfortable with him not having?

This would be something I would not see a PC having full-time, unadulterated access to. I see two avenues here: 1) A PC with hacking skills access it (probably not desirable as that would be a pretty big rewrite of your character.) 2) A contact who is either a hacker specializing in access to KE's database or a contact with a high loyalty who is a dispatcher.

Recommendation: If you took your second lifestyle and used Advanced Lifestyles [RC, pg153] and reduced it from 15 pts [5,000 nuyen.gif ] to 12 pts [3,200 nuyen.gif ] we can call it a wash.

Raven the Trickster
I'd be interested in tossing Galen Blackfeather, aka Stormcrow, my Crow shifter shaman (eagle shifter stats) into the mix. I'll put together a post for him tonight or (more likely) tomorrow morning.
Mister Shed
Rough character outline: Ork Bear Shaman, surged to be very bear-like. Comes from the Cascade Ork Tribe, focus on support magic (boosting allies, reducing enemies effectiveness). Bad with tech and not used to combat or violence. Is running in the Puyallups to help improve the lives of the people there, and maybe get some smuggling contacts on the side.

I'll have a character sheet and 20 questions sometime in the next day or two if the concept is acceptable.
