Sorry, been busy. I am checking the directory.
sorry, that dumb moment was brought on by me thinking about what i was going to place where for a few times, and then getting confused as to what i actually DID say...
The first plan was going to be have one elevator for the whole building, with the secretary infront of that, but i decided, since the first three floors are a shopping mall, it could have it's own access to the floors they need to, and the secretary-in-general to the offices would be in a seperate area, with a directory to those areas...
and then i asked that question while thinking about option 1) when in reality, it was option 2 that was happening...
so i want to make sure, with the new information available and correct, thats still how he wanted to do it it, since he was "trying" to avoid the receptionist (understandable, since he, due to my error/ommission was sort of cloudy as to what was in the area.

Hopefully the receptionist realizes how unimportant I am and lets me get to where I need to go 'before I'm late'.
I'm gonna hop into the elevator and try to head up to 21 (or whatever number the Hunt's floor was). If there is some sort of key required or whatnot, I'll just head up to the second floor and then try to take the
stairs to 21.

Bastard's IC question made me think of something. Does Mason have a radio to contact us if something goes wrong? I would assume so, but since it hasn't been mentioned I wanted to check.
Mason, have you seen the pictures from the over night blimp?
FrostyNSO
May 8 2005, 02:13 PM
No radio.
I assumed everyone saw the pictures. Didn't Wormwood or Boo show everyone when we were in his van?
Slacker
May 8 2005, 07:45 PM
Wormwood showed everybody the tape of the late night arrivals. He also gave a chip with the best face shots he could see from it to Boo.
While I didn't explicitly say he was showing everybody the shots, I think it could be a safe assumption that he at least paused a couple times in the tape to show everybody the faces on that group of people.

So, what kind fixed security has he been seeing so far? Cameras in the hallways or elevator?
Grr, bad GM, BAD!
sorry, i should've been putting those details in the IC posts, but so far the security could most likely be defined as "light",cameras at the entry point, in the elevator, and over the fixed structures. Cameras are also in all of the stores he went into, however, if he was paying much attention (and i'm sure he was) he'd notice that they were all for interior store surveying.

Sorry my posting has been down...Baseball season is cutting a swath in my SR interest level
Anyways....
I'm gonna try and get a good look at this beefy security guard and try to scope the office for any extra security measures that may be visable. Hopefully the secretary doesn't ask too many questions and I get get back on the elevator.
I'm anticipating maybe some more security going on up here, so instead of hopping back on the elevator and going straight to 22, I will go down to 20 by elevator like I said i was looking for and then I will try to take the stairs to 22.

"not a problem, have a good day Sir" she replies.
You try and get a better look at the security guard, but his face is mostly protected by another wall of security monitors, probable a dozen or so. The best you can guess is that he is either a well built, possibly augmented african, or possibly an ork.
You get back onto the elevator, and go down one floor, and turn to the stairs which are just down the hallway. On the doorway is a sign that reads

Really? There is a sign that can read? Is it reading the newspaper?
Just kidding of course, wanted to make sure you knew you stopped in mid-sentence.

Mason is going to muse to himself about the funny wording of the sign. Probably means that there is an alarm.
I'm going to look around for an alternate stairwell (it is a big building), as always looking at security as I go. If I don't find a second stairwell, I guess I'll hop on the elevator and go on up to the 24th floor.

May 11 2005, 12:45 PM
Well hahnsoo's last post was saying the only other matrix search he had to do was to see if he could find any info about the group that came late at night using the 3/4 face shots that I copied from the tape onto a chip for him.
Then he also wanted to use a Corporate Broker contact of his to find out if this company is a subsidiary of some other much bigger company.
I know he never gave rolls, but you could go ahead and roll them yourself and hope that he eventually comes back.

WARNING--Non Gaming Related Rant INCOMING!!!--
well, between an over love for all things gaming, and increasing self doubt on finding a job AND starting a business, it's quite on the overwhelming side of things, and i have two vices, food, and games. So the worse i get as far as trying to find a job, and start my own, the more games i play, which just makes A and B that much harder, which leads to doing more of C. see a cycle? heh. And no, almost 8 months out of college and still unemplyed, i'm not harbering the thought of going back to school for something totally unrelated, despite the fact that i do enjoy (most) of what i went to school the first time, finding next to nothing (and the three that DID see me, all said "We like what you have, but want someone closer) it's quite discouraging as there isn't much business in my area to begin with, and i don't have the moeny to move.

We are sounding more an more alike. I also graduated about 8 months ago. I am currently just doing temp work, but it was 5 months after I graduated that I finally found even that much work. And really the only reason I got this job is because of my father.
So what is your degree in?
Aku
May 11 2005, 04:00 PM
are you sure you're not me? oh wait the math is off, it was 4 months for me before i helped my dad for about a month, but i'm a bit more agressive than he is, and i couldn't stand the owners son and i was like, can't do it any more, let paul finish that inventory, i'll do the ones i've been and then when they're done i'll stay home and i did...
but the degree is in Digital Media Production, a fancy term for a Bachelor of Science in Video Prodiction from the Art Institute in Pittsburgh. The other thing I'm considering is going back to school for is Game Design, however i can't draw worth shit, my story telling ability is so so, but i haven't coded anything since HS, and that was only in QBasic...
Oh, and my parents so don't understand any of it lol...

Well, it looks like it's time for Mason to get the hell outta Dodge. It would not look good at all if he started pressing the "close" button really quick while the secretary and guard watched, soooo....
Mason is going to use the fake letter Boo printed up to try and "dumbass" his way out of the situation. What he is shooting for here, is for the secretary to notice that the letter actually was meaning to send him to another building, but we'll see.

You just don't have the right dice. You need the loaded kind to do it right; or some with two 6's instead of a 6 and a 1.

Well, the problem is that there are very few SR players around here (at least that I know of), and he was basically the only one that was at all flexible in scheduling. With everything going on with each person, we were doing good to have enough players 1/month.
That is the main reason I like playing on the forums. You don't have to do scheduling.

So now that Mason is finished with the scouting expedition (at least close enough that he shouldn't have any problems getting out), what's next?
Are we going to stake the place out for a few days or just get right into planning the infiltration?
FrostyNSO
May 11 2005, 07:16 PM
Mason is heading out and going to walk down to the building he was "supposed" to be at. I'm gonna go in there, find the nearest bathroom and then spend a half-hour or 45 minutes in the stall.
Sorry if this sounds weird, but with the hightened security we saw on the tape, I think it makes sense to make sure I'm not followed, and just in case I am, to make sure everything "looks" fine.
After I'm sure I havn't been followed and everything's clear, I'm going to drop my Mask spell and head out to where Wormwood was waiting. I'll tell them everything that happened and what I saw/found out.

I would have done exactly the same thing, both in how you explained to the secretary showing up on the 21 floor again and going to the address we put on the letter.
The only reason I didn't suggest it was that Wormwood and Mason aren't in contact for such ideas to be exchanged.
The only real question I have is concerning the person that seemed familiar to Mason. That is something easily forgotten or overlooked when reporting back on a scouting mission, so I phrased my IC question as if Mason hadn't said anything about it.
He had mentioned it Wormwood would ask "Do you think it could have been somebody we saw on the tape?" Wormwood has a Pocket Secretary and the tape from overnight if we want to review it.

Mason doesn't mention the "familiar" person. That sort of thing happens way too often to worry about, especially for someone who goes to clubs and socializes as much as Mason does. Now if he were to see them again on the tape, then....

Well I was really hoping to look for the elf that seemed familiar, but since you didn't mention that to us that isn't what we are doing.
I guess we will still look at the tape to see if the guard you mentioned was one of the guys with LMGs. If he is, it would tell us that the group was coming to see the Hunts people.
Slacker
May 13 2005, 12:55 PM
I've been thinking about Boo's idea to climb. A grapple gun can fire a grappling hook over 50 meters. That is nowhere near high enough to get to the top of the 24 floor building, but are there any building near it that are at least half its height?
The only other options I see to get to the roof (if that is still how we are planning to enter) is to either hire a rigger to fly us up there or a mage to levitate us up there. What do you guys think?
FrostyNSO
May 13 2005, 08:32 PM
I'd rather not have to depend on a mage to levitate us over there. I just envision so much going wrong with that. However, finding a rigger to get us in quietly is gonna be hella hard.
What if we went in with the cleaning crew? Or went in during the day and hid out in a broom closet (well not a broom closet exactly, but you get the idea) until that night?
Slacker
May 13 2005, 09:18 PM
Yeah, I don't really like the idea of a mage levitating us over there either.
As far as sneaking in with the cleaning crew, I don't think it will work. So far we haven't seen security or cleaning crew enter or leave the building. Since we do know that the Hunts personnel live on-site, it seems possible that the same could be said of the security and cleaning personnel.
As far as hiring a rigger goes, I think it would be the best thing to do. They didn't have security personnel on the roof so I don't think it would draw too much attention having a rigger fly us up there in a helicopter. If you think the noise is an issue, we can rappel down with the helicopter never having to get all that close to the roof.
FrostyNSO
May 13 2005, 09:26 PM
A chopper makes a lot of noise. If there was a dude on the 24th floor near a window, he'd prolly hear us. Plus, jet fuel is expensive, gotta watch our bottom line.
You can only rappel so far, and the higher the chopper is from the roof the harder it will be to do accurately. He'll need to be pretty high to not draw a lot of attention. Too bad they don't make one-man blimps.
