Immediately you notice two human security guards standing out front of the door, |
What can you tell us about the guards. Are they armed? Are they wearing armor? Do their uniforms have the Hunts company logo on them or the logo of some security company?
QUOTE |
hordes of people emerge from inside the buidling |
Approximately how many people are in this "horde" that leaves the building.
QUOTE |
the upper floors' lights remain on |
Is this every floor about the first or just the top floor or what?
What's going on in the neighborhood? What other buildings are around? Is this area frequently patrolled by Lone Star?
Is there a back entrance/exit to the building? If so Wormwood is going to try to find a spot he can watch it from without being seen.
We will likely be there for at least an hour or two. Do we spot any other security coming in or any cleaning crews? Also, if there are some workers that leave the building an hour or more after the rest Wormwood would make note of them and probably take a picture using his cybereye camera for reference.

When we're done with our field trip, I'll probably head to a site where I can start the Matrix searches, the info about our Johnson first, then proceed onto information about our target (including their host, if that's accessible).
Thumbs up/down on the miniblimp surveillance? Do we have a rigger who would like to take over that job?

WHAT!?! You made no mention of it having 24 floors before. You had only told us of 4, top being housing, next 2 being research, and bottom being a "face department"

hunts uses the top level as housing, two levels beneath that as a research facility, and the floor below them as their... face department, only that floor is open to the public during the day |

No problem. So is the rest of the building accessible to the general public? Most conglomerate buildings that I know of in RL let people come and go, and if a company is renting space they provide their own security at the entrance to their part of the building.

So is there much drone traffic in the area? It would be good if we can leave the blimp surveillance drone here to watch the building, but if not we can at least use the cover of night to try and take a look inside those upper floor windows with it.
So, while we are waiting for Mason to do his thing, do we see any new security guards coming in or any cleaning crews?
Once Mason is through astrally projecting to scope out the floors of the Hunts lab, I guess we will be splitting up to do our own info gathering. Is that correct guys?

does this blimp have some sort of light on it that can be pointed into the windows? is this the point of this part of the recon for you boo?
hahnsoo
Mar 31 2005, 02:30 AM
I'm actually running the blimp in Captain's Chair (non-simsense) mode, using it as more of a mounted camera that I can move around. It doesn't have a flashlight, but it has the standard suite of vehicular sensors (Rating 1), which includes the following: Rangefinders, ultrasound, laser proximity detectors, video cameras, basic radar, signature recognition software, lowlight and telescopic magnification (but no thermo).
I'll be using it for mostly aerial recon and have it loiter around, giving some continuous surveillance while we drive off and do other things.

It's legwork time! Boo is going to ask his Corporate Broker contact via secure e-mail to see if he knows anything about our Johnson or our target.
He will also do the following Matrix Searches, in a serial order:
Simple General Search on our Johnson, restricting the search to things pertaining to ketchup companies and using what we know about the Johnson so far as parameters. This is a low profile search.
Base Time: 1d6 Hours
TN: Base of 4, +2 for maintaining a low profile, -1 for Etiquette: Matrix, -2 for having the Local Shadowland Node as a contact, -3 for using an Agent, -1 for loading a Rating 6 Browse on the Frame, -1 for having a rating 6 Frame, + whatever modifiers are necessary.
Simple General Search on our target, the Ketchup Company.
Standard Specific Search on any courier or delivery companies scheduled to deliver any items to our target within the next couple of weeks (using the shipment databases of various public and private courier/delivery companies). Again, this search will be low profile. I don't think Shadowland would have this information, and I might have to dig deeper to get it.
Base Time: 2d6 Hours
TN: Base of 5, +2 for keeping a low profile, -1 for using a Browse 6, -3 for using an Agent, -1 for loading a Rating 6 Browse on the Frame, -1 for having a rating 6 Frame, + whatever modifiers are necessary.
I'll do deeper searches on other targets as I get tidbits of information based on the above searches. The above searches should take no longer than 24 hours and should be even less than that.

ok guys, i hate to do this, but i'm personally not finding the site working for gaming the way i was hoping, so i'd like to bring up playing it on RPOL.net atleast to a vote. so if everyone could atleast try to create an account there, and see if things atleast work for you, i'd appreciate it. if it's an issue of slowing the game down some to a post every couple of days while you're at home, i'd be willing to make that sacriface, i like the site that much heh. If it's an issue that you CAN'T post at home, well, thats obviously another story.

I would like to stay at Dumpshock. The whole appeal of doing this is the fact that I can log into Dumpshock for my one-stop online gaming needs. If I was completely starved for Shadowrunning, I might feel differently, but I already have 2 IRL games each week.
So far I'm enjoying the slow pace of the game, and I think it's going well. What would you like to do that isn't serviced well by the forums here?
well, or one is some sort of decent notepadding issue, two is the fact that i need to have two seperate tabs (three if i'm browing regular dumpshock), three i need to keep track of files on my comp for CS's, and four is on rpol.net, they have a shadowrun roller, so you can plop in the TN for things if you know it, and generate the number of successes for me
Bastard
Apr 6 2005, 07:24 AM
how does rpol.net work differently?
Slacker
Apr 6 2005, 10:47 AM
Ok, my office does block RPOL.net, so at best I would be posting from home every 2-3 days. At worst, it could be as little as 1/week. I am going to night classes and have other things going on that take up most of my free time. Work is really the only time I ever have to think about gaming. So I would prefer sticking to Dumpshock.
If you want me to tell you the number of successes that's fine. I have been using the diceroller that is part of nsrcg which has the same ability to specify the TN and count successes. I just am used to the GM setting the TN in secret so I haven't been doing that. Also, most of the rolls, if not all, so far, have been things that I wouldn't know the TN for. Perception tests are versus a TN based on the conceal of what you are looking at. Ettiquette tests for legwork are versus a TN based on the chance a type of contact will have any info. Etc.
rpol has a note bad device built in for each game, a charactersheet spot and within a game, the ability to have multiple threads... then again, what i can do is just set up the game for my own use i suppose... but since the majority seems to be for sticking here, that's what i'll do. Whats the point of being a GM ig ya got no players?
oh, and with Rpol, we can set it up so everyone has different character names instead of your DS handle, so i can stop being confused heh

I try to use my character's streetname that you first called him by in every post. Though that probably doesn't help all that much since I gave him several streetnames, a real name, and an alias.
If it makes it easier I can just start calling him Slacker. The names are just there for flavor and background.

Yeah, for simple searches. I "built" him with searches in mind, mostly. The Complex Searches are the "moneymakers" though, and those have a base TN of 8. I'm just getting general information now, hoping that the information that I receive will point me in the right direction.

I've found that gm'ing a Shadowrun game is much more difficult than a DnD game, but I also think it's worth the effort.
So far I think you're doing a good job at this and I would hate to see it end. But sometimes life does interfere, and that is understandable.
You shouldn't feel like rushed to post anything. Forum games are always slow going and people understand that. So take your time in posting.
