Its not as perverse as it sounds. You'd be amazed at the kinds of stuff you learn when you're sewing up the holes that drunk people put in themselves and others in the wee hours of the morning.

And any water based lube works. KY is just the most common, um... household variety.

KY's pretty shitty. It's mostly glycerin, not good for your insides. I mostly use JO; it's the only lube made in an FDA-approved facility. Good stuff. The only better that I know of is made in Germany, and is extraordinarily expensive.

My ex used to run a ConRev (like lover's but edgier).

I've got some silicone stuff. Naming the brand will only get me odd looks.

That's really convenient to know! Now I can mix two hobbies with the same equipment! (That and the 'tampons are the new duct tape' comment in the military thread!)

How are tampons the new duct tape?
nezumi
Because they're so handy - plug wounds or bloody noses, cleaning swabs (great for small-caliber rifle barrels), fire starters. The list goes on and on. Tampons are one of those things no man should leave home without, IMO.

Assuming that man would need to do thing like plugging wounds and cleaning rifles. I can make it to the shops and back just fine without any feminine products. Can you suggest any uses for the mighty tampon for your average slacker, like myself?
Mardrax
I hear using them to intoxicate yourself by soaking them in certain substances and subsequently inserting them into certain orifices is/has been popular in some locales.
Xahn Borealis
You'd still need some "certain substances".
Mardrax
A trip to the local liquor store should set you up if you're of legal age. *shrug*
Yay for just wrong activities.
nezumi
Listerine works just as well, is cheaper, and has certain other attractive qualities when used for that particular vector.

Surely you jest! This is the internet - I guarantee that you wouldn't get odd looks (though some peoples' screens might) especially not from Dumpshockers.

Also, on the subject of blood spatter - anyone have any suggestions for getting it out of 3/4" nylon rope?
Wounded Ronin
Guys, if we're talking about getting blood spatters out of personal items, beware hepatitis! It can survive for weeks in the environment and has rarely been spread by shared toothbrushes and manicure.

Does "Ryumyo and Lung slash fiction" elicit strange looks?

If so then I'm sure the name of my lube will as well.

Thanks for your concern. That shouldn't be a problem, however. I will take the necessary precautions.

Any decent sex store. Lover's Package, Condom Revolution if you're in California, or preferably a local independent.

QUOTE (WhiskeyJohnny @ Feb 10 2011, 01:44 PM) *

<snip>

Lover's is the former name and current nickname for the Lover's Package chain of sex stores. They sell toys, lingerie, porn, etc., mostly at ludicrously inflated prices. ConRev used to be a much nicer independent chain until the owner's gambling debts forced him to sell to Lover's.

You need to get to it before it gets set in, but I've used a spare toothbrush and baking soda with a vinegar wash (need to be carefull for obvious reasons) to get the job done in the past.

Getting blood on things doesn't mean we're scary s.o.b.s; just means we got blood on something (usually our own).

Its only out of context that it sounds creepy.

You mean we're in general a bunch of people that's likely to glitch on certain physical active skill rolls, and shed our own blood through that? While being likely to have fairly high dicepools from Logic + Knowledge skills to figure out how to clean the mess up?
I can see that being true wobble.gif

Part of me wonders whether or not it's worth just dying the rope to hide the spatter.

Me, I'd be no good in the shadows. Reaction seems to be (one of) my dump stats.

(Trying to play Natural Selection 2 makes me want to first hop myself up on adrenaline just so I can play at a moderately good level, rather than sucking).

Not me, then again I remember a quality for previous editions (Might of been a house one, honestly) that had you react to surprise rather... drastically, and I do have that.

Damn we are some weird, scary s.o.b.'s here.

My Grandmother was an OR Nurse and my Mother was a Chef.

Learning how to get blood out of clothing tended to come with their occupations in a non-scary way.

Hell, even my knowledge of explosives isn't THAT frightening when you consider that I grew up in a mining town whose major landscape was vertical rock, where everyone knew someone that used blasting charges for a living, and dynamite as a hobby (Prospecting.). You pick up things through osmosis that way.

Being a gun nut, yeah, that does frighten Canadians. I point out that I've rarely shot a firearm, especially considering that I'm a "Northerner", but for some reason that doesn't hold much weight...

Edit: OK, one scary piece I learned about explosives was a Newfie that was in the city Militia. Not scary on my part, but scary that they trusted a Newfie with explosives!

Guns need some positive PR. There is a great deal of negativity towards them which I blame on movies. We should make plushie rifles with googly eyes to give to little kids to change the image.

Corporate Security Kicks down a door while a DMSO/Disease Combination Grenade goes off from the impact, a Watcher Spirit wakes up and tries to remember the message it was supposed to give: "You have all been infected with HSV-5, more commonly referred to as 'The Male Period'. Good luck explaining it to your Significant Others.", which then runs off at Astral Speed to tell it's Master that it did a good job, a very good job!

Hell, it doesn't even have to be real blood or contain any real disease.

Just getting showered with what LOOKS like blood will create considerable panic.

Man, you guys are trying to keep items, I just slash, bin, and burn stuff when I have do site clean up. (restoration, renovation construction - water (and thus mold), fire, pestilence (mostly rats), and death scene damage ... which I didn't last long at, bloody boss was an somewhat of an idiot, he had a lot of energy though, I couldn't learn anything from with regards to construction, had to teach him on occasion but I hope he never reads this, he may read it the wrong way, while he may have been a reformed family man, anyone with ties to organized crime should garner some modicum of fearful respect)

Stucco ceiling? I hate that crap, I would just replace it. Doesn't mean I haven't loved learning new housekeeping / maintenance methods that seem like decent band aids to me in this thread. Ugh, and get rid of carpets if you can, tile and wood panelling (even the fake stuff) is better than bloody carpet (and underlay). Drywall should be a measure, cut, backing, screw, tape, mud, sand, primer, and couple coats of paint (possibly the whole wall(s) if you don't have the old paint cans with proper labels) job.
