I've been around ,You've been around. I can make mistakes, but so can You too
But I never intended to write that You're wrong about the Mechanics more that your point of viewing the Rules is from a ....wrong angle
When I read the German SR4A on Page 177
there is a paragraph called Sprinting
And it says that a Charackter can try to increase his running speed with a simple action ,etc etc
I didn't find any sentence about additional Tests meaning additional Meters per Turn (this means for Me:1 Check, 1 raise of the running speed per Round and thats all)
I hope You agree with me that 6 Checks per Round with 4 Successes each and a speed of 73 Meters per Round for a Human ist ridicoulos
(just like Epicedion wrote )

He's not saying that he thinks the rule is great, he's saying that the rules do absolutely nothing to prevent this. The rules say you can spend a simple action to make a sprint check and those hits translate to more movement speed. It doesn't say that you're restricted to one. It doesn't even imply that.

The sprinting rules combined with the ridiculous base movement rates pretty much junk the entire movement system. There's no baby in that bathwater.

I think that I have found your Problem. You are looking for a baby and/or bathwater. Classic mistake... biggrin.gif

Each hit adds 2 meters to their Running Rate.

Well here's where my interpretation splits from others. I interpret "Running Rate" as the static value listed in the book (25m/rnd for humans), rather then the current rate at which the character is running. Therefore subsequent sprinting checks would reset off the static value rather then being cumulative.

Close, but that doesn't help. The Running Rate could well be cumulative. Nope, we have to rely on player/GM sanity instead. smile.gif

Sprinting requires a simple action. If you have a simple action available, you can sprint. Unless you can provide a rules quote specifically providing additional restrictions (such as SS weapons), that is bullshit.

Oh, & I know exactly what this means from a realism viewpoint; look at my first fucking post in this thread.

There is no Need to be Rude !!
There is no Rule FOR multiple Chacks and there is no Rule against it.
So GMV says :use only one sprint check thats more realistic and makes more sense
And I think we both agree with this !

Hough!
Medicineman

looks down to Yerameyahu's Post
and Grins ...Farador,right ?
Yerameyahu
You didn't even get a dance, that's how rude. frown.gif Internet is srs bizness!

What happens if you just change the 2m to 1m for sprint checks? Is that more or less effective than limiting them to 1 per Turn? This is separate from the issue of *base* movement already being too high, or the stacking of the various movement boosting implants/traits. Just wondering.
Medicineman
1 Meter per success and lowering the Base speed

that would be a good Houserule ImO
