F3 spirit with Movement, no drain

4 3 2 services

Service 1: sustain Guard on Bob
Service 2: sustain Conceal on Bob

phlapjack77
I tried to find the Toxin DV of alcohol, but didn't find it. I would think it's not more than 5? So for the Detox spell, that makes it a F5, with a DV value of 1? If so, would it be ok to buy hits to soak the drain? Especially seeing how IC is hating me lately smile.gif

The second spell is Clairvoyance(extended)(really "Cryptesthesia", with low-light) at F3

Man, Invisible Castle is really out to get me...first the critical glitches, now I can't get higher than 3 hits on 12 dice in 4 rolls frown.gif

F3 Cryptesthesia: 3 hits
Drain resist for 4 rolls: 0 hits (no glitch, thank god), 6, 3, 4 hits
So in total, 3 stun for a resulting -1 dp frown.gif Plus the -2 for sustaining a spell...
Raven the Trickster
Like Stormcrow said, here goes nothing

Roll to summon a force 6 air spirit (drain will be physical)

5 Magic + 2 Summoning + 2 Mentor Spirit Bonus -2 Stun Damage -2 Disorientation = 5 dice → [1,6,5,1,2] = (2)

Not bad considering the dice pool, here's hoping it works.

On another note, I'm still going to be busy for the next 2 weeks finishing up midterms, hopefully after that school will let up a bit for the few weeks before finals, but after mid December I'm done for good!
Redjack
VERY, VERY sorry for the delay. RL has been just crazy.

Mouse and Stormcrow: Welcome to Puyallups VI

I took a little liberty to move the story along and get you closer to the "meet". Given the drain level of the duo, I had them perform a "retrograde motion".

Dang. Sorry man. This fell off my radar. Working on a post now.
phlapjack77
No worries. Thanks for the post smile.gif
Redjack
Tossing I-Ball: Agility(4) + Default: Thrown Weapons(-1) + Sustaining Spell(-2) + Running(-2) [3] = 0 hits; No chance of success, but always a chance for a critical glitch.
phlapjack77
Bob'll check to see if there's a window in the kid's room.

Dang this is nerve-wracking! smile.gif
Redjack
There is a window in both bedrooms.
Redjack
Now I'm excited to see if there is hope... or only dystopia defined. nyahnyah.gif
phlapjack77
gonna depend on the dice rolls, I think smile.gif

I'm not in a position to settle this question until maybe Thursday though...
phlapjack77
Hope this isn't too much going on in one post, just trying to get stuff moving smile.gif

First, Bob's triggering his autoinjector to juice him up full of Jazz, Guts, and a Stim(6).
Jazz: +1 Reaction, +1 IP, 10x1d6 minutes
Guts: Immune to fear and fear-based effects, 9 hours. The downsides go well with Bob's current course of action smile.gif
Stim(6): High Pain Tolerance 6, 60 minutes. Already at 3 stun, so this can only ignore 3 more points of stun.

Next he's dropping Cryptesthesia and casting F3 Gecko Crawl: 7d6 = 1 hit
Drain code 1S: 9d6 = 3 hits, no drain
So Bob can move 3m/turn up the building.

He's trying to be stealthy about it:5d6 = 2 hits on Infiltration

He triggers his Radar Sensor(2) and looks around the bedroom, specifically looking for the kid's location, the ganger's location and any weapons, and if there's a lock on the window.

He tells his spirit to be ready.

He commands his flyspy to keep concealed and a watch on the two gangers below. The iBall should roll up the house to the open window. It'll have a command to use Facial Recognition on the two gangers, and if stuff goes down, to distract them with it's flashlight.

*Edit* Does Bob know what kind of police response this area might have?

Wrinkle. Its on the ground; the gecko pads will need to be cleaned.

From the ground, it can strobe outside the window which, in the mostly dark, should cause a distraction. The Fly-Spies can run the racial rec.

*Edit* Does Bob know what kind of police response this area might have?
Somewhere between C & E rating. 5 minutes is the best response he can hope for 10-15 is probably more likely.

Isn't your DP7, not 10? Magic(3) + Spellcasting(3) + Specialization[Detection](2) + Spellcasting Foci(1) + Sustaining(-2)
phlapjack77
i think its at least a 9, he has a mentor spirit +2 as well. can't remember where the extra +1 comes from. Sorry, i'm away from my char sheet all weekend, i'll confirm on monday when i can.

in the future, this is a good reason for me to list out all the numbers involved smile.gif

[6,1,4,2,5,2,1,2,4,2] = 2 hits.
phlapjack77
cool, sorry i didn't check back in with my char, i've been sick. i should be back at work tomorrow.
phlapjack77
Ok, back at work. Looking at the char sheet, I've got Bob's magic at 3, spellcasting at 4, with a spec in detection +2, a mentor detection bonus +2, and +1 spellcasting (detection) focus = 12 dice

Did I get the spellcasting skill level wrong? I can't find the DS thread where I posted the char for you to look at.

*edit* Dropping Gecko Crawl (constantly think of this as "Spider Climb" in my head, darn you D&D!) when he gets inside. Keeping Clairvoyance going until he comes to not need it with the ork.

*edit edit* found the char sheet on DS - Bob Hoskins. I think maybe you have him with a -1 from stun damage, but that should be negated by the stim patch he took earlier.
Redjack
Not sure how I missed the Spellcasting(Detection) R4 (+2). I stand corrected.

Sneaking towards the ork: Agility(4) + Infiltration(1) + Sustaining(-2) [6,6,5] = 3 hits
phlapjack77
nice roll! smile.gif
Redjack
Perception Test by the Ork: Intuition(3) + Perception(2) + Distracted(-2) [6,2,3] = 1 hit

Without moving his hands, the ork looks to Bob, "I'll take your gun, too."

For a second when I read this, I thought "Oh crap, he's using Commanding Voice!" smile.gif

Not sure if my latest IC post would call for Intimidation? Negotiation? I'll spend Edge as necessary if you make any important rolls...
phlapjack77
<ping> smile.gif
Redjack
Bob

Bob Visual perception: Perception(3) + Intuition(5) + Distraction(-2) + Sustaining(-2) [5,3,1,3] = 1 hit vs Normal Perception Test(2). Failed.

Human male stealth: [6,6,4,3,2] = 2 hits

Bob Audio Perception: [1,1,2,4]: Critical glitch.

-----

I'll pause here to given you an edge decision.

phlapjack77
I'll use Edge on the visual perception roll, plus he dropped his spell when he entered the room, so hopefully that gives him 6 more dice to roll for perception smile.gif (4 Edge + 2 from not sustaining)

QUOTE (phlapjack77 @ Jan 28 2013, 02:55 PM) *
...Me, I dropped the seeing spell and tiptoed into the master bedroom with my gun held high...

Also, this might've gotten lost in the posting, but Bob closed (attempted to close?) the bedroom door after he stepped inside.

Thoughts of self preservation fled as I quietly closed the bedroom door behind me.
Redjack
I've been transferring Bob into Hero Lab and came across something I missed earlier. You put the following sensors into your fly-spy: Directional Microphone, Laser Microphone R6, Motion Sensor, Thermometric. Did you realize you completely displaced all cameras? With the improved sensor array, you have 5 capacity, which are filled by those 4 sensors.

The visual perception was before the sustaining was dropped, so it stands as is.

Bob Audio Perception: [1,1,2,4] + [4,4] = 0 hits.
Edge: [1,4,2,3,1,5] = 1 hit.

Wow. That really sucks.

I...did not notice that frown.gif This must be why I found the sensor array still had capacity (strange, I thought) and so added the thermometric.

Yeah, I realized this was a possibility, playing a character with such low dice pools. Just gonna have to ride it out...

So keep the thermometric or keep the camera?

Next: I just realized that you have 5 fetishes (1x combat, 1x Manipulation, 3x Detection) but do not see notes as to the spells that require fetishes, nor the form the fetishes take?

Next:: In your capsule rounds you list: DMSO, Narcojet & Astral Pigment. I can't find the first two in the books and the latter can't be used in a capsule round.

Reroll Perception:
Perception(3) + Intuition(5) + Distraction(-2) + Reroll(-2) [5,5,5,5] = 4 hits

That roll's more like it! smile.gif

The camera would make more sense, and it's been "used" in the game already, while the thermometric hasn't. So if it's ok, I'd go with the camera, and I'll pay the difference in price from Bob's current money. Sound ok? Sorry for the confusion...

I think you might have an old version of Bob's character sheet. I've been using the one posted here, I used my Chummer file to write this up. I thought it would be ok to use a pigment in a capsule round as an "astral tracking" round, but it's cool if it's not possible. Say, if I get rid of these capsule rounds, it'd pay for the camera for the drone... smile.gif

For the fetishes / spells, I think it's the old char sheet again. Currently Bob has 3 fetishes: 2 detection (Analyze Device, Detect Individual), 1 manipulation (Magic Fingers). He doesn't have any combat spells or fetishes. The 3 fetishes will be in the form of charms attached to a bracelet he wears on his left forearm.

...And now for the part I've been dreading. In Bob's current state, he's already given the ork his last warning...so he'll follow through on his threat. 2 shots as Simple Actions, speaking as a Free Action.

Firing twice at ork thug. Pistols(2) + Agi(4) + Spec(2) + Laser Sight(1) + Short Range ? (0m->5m, 0) + Aiming (1) = 10dice

First shot: 4 hits = 11P, -3 AP
Second shot: 4 hits = 11P, -3 AP

*edit* Bob's gonna want to make sure he hits the ork, and not the old couple, so I'll spend Edge on the first roll to re-roll failures. Updated above. 2 Edge spent, 2 remaining.

I'm using the version from my character store that was submitted for the game. I can look over a changed version, but it will take me some time to work through that.

-RJ
phlapjack77
Ok really sorry here. I thought the char sheet on DS and the Chummer file I had were approved, but maybe I made some changes after the fact and didn't let you know? I'm trying to look through my PMs and all and I can't find anything where I tell you about the above changes frown.gif

So I would hope that the sheet you have is the same as the one I have, with the (small?) changes to spells and fetishes and the capsule ammo. Let me know if you want me to roll with your version or not, I'm game either way.
Redjack
Bob
Shoot the ork: Pistols(2) + Agility(4) +Specialization[Revolvers](2) + Aiming(2) + Laser Sight(1) [3,2,5,5,1,5,1,6,6,3,1] = 5 hits; 6P +1P/-1AP [ExEx]

Ork
Dodge: Reaction(3) + Dodge(1) [3,3,4,3] = 0 hits

Damage = 12P

Cool smile.gif

Since you rolled for Bob, should I consider the Edge above not spent? Only one shot fired? I'll alter my previous IC post to fit and post up if so...

Well crap. I guess I should pay better attention. Consider the edge not spent. I think you are up too.
Redjack
I really like this story line. Sorry RL™ is jacking with my post rate so bad.
phlapjack77
It's ok - RL (unfortunately) comes first.

I'm feeling kinda selfish that I currently get a story line all to myself smile.gif Glad you're enjoying it too.

You probably saw in the Barrens game thread, but I'll be on vacation from April 3 - April 15. I should be able to post some, but probably not frequently during this time.
phlapjack77
I'm not around my char sheet for the duration of my vacation - Bob'll cast F3 Thought Recognition, could you roll for him?
Redjack
I think you said you'd dropped all spells, so:
F3 Thought Recognition
Magic(3) + Spell Casting(4) + Specialized[Detection](2) +Mentor[Detection](2) + Spell Casting Focus(1) [5,5,5,5,5,3,6,5,3,6,6,1] = 9 3 hits

Resist
Willpower(3) [3,2,1] = 0

phlapjack77
nice! 9hits on 12 dice.
Redjack
About time to decide whether you continue on solo or join a team me thinks.
phlapjack77
Joining a team sounds good.
phlapjack77
I know a team that could use a mage, they just started investigating an attack on the Mall biggrin.gif
Redjack
Yea, except you already have a character there. Rather, I am going to drop you in with a team working out of the Redmond Barrens who just happen to need a mage and a character with social skills... IC & OOC

---- That moves ALL characters out of the introduction threads!!! Yea! ----

I will add that this was an experiment that met with mixed success. In the end, I REALLY liked it. most people who were going to drop, dropped before getting into a game. Those that entered a game had a MUCH better back story.
phlapjack77
cool, thanks!

I thought this was a good idea too - although it added a lot of work to your plate, it definitely helped me get a good feel for the character.
