I still don't understand what value a comlink that can communicate with nothing but your bionode is?

Storage, and not sticking out too much.

BTW, the way I read the rules a slaved 'link can still communicate with the matrix just fine, only external connection attempts have to get past the master first. But won't matter here anyway wink.gif

Just so that we're clear and it doesn't cause an issue later:

QUOTE (Unwired @ pg55)
When slaving a node to a master, the slaved node does not accept any Matrix connections from any other node but the master and instantly forwards any connection attempts to the master.
This reads quite clearly to me to say that a slaved node does not communicate with the matrix. I don't foresee this causing a difference, but just in case I want us to both have the same understanding. smile.gif

Bob'll be summoning a F3 Guidance spirit, optional power Influence.
I don't see your tradition noted anywhere. What is that?

Dang...I had kinda glossed over that in my head. I wanted something Intuition-based that had Guidance spirits...not finding a good fit so far though...working on it...

Posted. Heading to the office for some paperwork, maybe fish up a client if Mose is lucky. With nothing blaringly obvious on the gang, and no means of taking them out if he needed to, there's no real reason to stay.

Any of my players gonna be at GenCon this year?

I wish. Went in aught eight, had a blast. That was the year they opened the Colts new field during GenCon. What a mess, lol.

I stayed at the hotel adjacent to the Holiday Inn that year. Walked past that stadium several times a day.

Wierd, we might have stayed at the same hotel. Olympic year too. I remember getting hammered after the games watching nastia liukin and Michael phelps.

I still have yet to get to a gaming con, probably because most of the good ones are in the states and it's a bit of a pain in the ass to get to from southwestern ontario without a car :\ One of these days I'll make it to GenCon or DragonCon or something, but in the mean time, have fun those who have the opportunity to go.

Starting Nuyen = result * 50 (3d6=11)

Anahoy does not currently have his armored Long Coat, he plans on meeting with his smuggler contact Darren Runs-with-Deer later in the evening to pick it up as he passes through the area. (Ideally at the Pierce County Airport about 2 miles north http://g.co/maps/jv9b9, although he can meet at Shady Acres too)

Knowledge check for info on the street gangers that attempted to attack Anahoy several days earlier. Area Knowledge: Seattle R1 (Puyallup) -> 5(7) (7d6.hits(5)=3)

Also, I am planning on going to GenCon, although I apparently missed signing up for any Shadowrun games because I was at work frown.gif
Grinchy McScrooge
I wish I was going to GenCon, but having just graduated from college, there's no way I could afford it. I'm hoping to get down there in a couple years.

Chunan is making knowledge checks to figure where Underworld 93 is, what the dress code is, and where he can buy the appropriate clothing:

Area Knowledge: Seattle [Puyallup](7)
- Underworld 93 location [4,5,6,4,1,4,5] = 3 hits
- Underworld 93 dress code [6,5,4,3,2,6,6] = 4 hits
- place appropriate dress code clothing can be acquired [4,6,5,4,3,5,2 = 3 hits

He will be either at The Retirement or the Crime Mall.

I will allow Area Knowledge to attempt a Gang Knowledge check - with a threshold bump: Here is what he knows: They wore colors of the Chulos, a fairly large gang in the Puyallups. They are generally all of Hispanic lineage.

The outside of Underworld 93 looks like a run down warehouse with a large parking lot. A fixture in Seattle nightlife for decades, despite its location, playing Underworld 93 is a pretty much a requirement for someone up and coming in the music scene. At night, the nighest quality AR is running hot inside and out at the club. Loud, happening and despite its age, still a place to be seen in Seattle. Security is tight around the club and what must be a private contract with the Star increases patrols around the club to something considerably higher than the "E" rating of the nearby neighborhoods or the "Z" blocks away.

Analyzing the AROs, DP is Computer 4 + Analyze 5 + VR bonus 2 = 11

Priority questions:
- Tracers, Burners, anything attached?
- Who the ...?

PS: Hardwire's normal VR icon looks like Beastie, the BSD Daemon. Depending on the situation he switches to more aggressive demonic figures.

I agree. I really like game mechanics that play up a character's flaws. And any mage that follows Crow should be distracted by shiny things. notworthy.gif

NPC: Leadership(0) + Willpower(2) [4,2] = 0 hits
Success with 4 net hits. Given Moses history, I assume him to be pious and honorable in intentions. Advise me if that is not the case.

I'm working on my IC post now. Figured that Chunan's street clothes will be fine as long as I accessorize them a titch. Just figuring out what to add, how much it will cost, and the name of the store he'll be shopping at (I'm thinking second-hand). smile.gif

I have edited my last IC post because I found some tense issues and an idea I'd misconstrued. Also, I'm not sure what to have him do with his old clothes. He's gonna keep them for sure, but I'm thinking it would look really weird if he showed up to the club carrying a shopping bag. Any suggestions?

I've realised that Chunan should be using the Disguise skill to help him pick out the correct outfit to blend in.

@All
There are some very colorful stories developing and I don't want to quash that. There will be times though that my post will contradict details from a player post. I will try to note those in OOC so a simple edit can be made to align the story. Sometimes it will be to provide a consistent view of a location (for example, my next post for Raven will change details from his last post in regards to The Office) or highlight some of the dystopian feel of the universe or to bring a particular plot line to focus or perhaps because I view an NPC reaction to be different, etc. I will try to limit those so as not to cut out creativity; my long term players have synced into this nicely.

A Fashion knowledge skill or Etiquette (with a threshold adjustment) would be more appropriate. Disguise would then be the measure of the proper implementation of the outfit.

@Almost Normal
Nix appears to be the implementation of an NPC that is a little more than background character. What are your thoughts here?

I view her as the physical manifestation of his commlink's activity, on top of being his friend and secretary. Given the programs on the commlink, I figure she's a handy friend to have. From a literary standpoint, she helps with internal dialogue. From a roleplaying standpoint, it marks Moses interactions as being different then just another schlub with a program package. Joe Hacker runs his programs, Moses talks to an old friend, savvy?

If Tracy wants to come with him, he's going to call up his sister, and head to her place. She might have some clothes for the girl there, as she takes in awakened runaways. His plan for the immediate future is to set up a temporary and safe environment for the girl at his office. He wants to keep her, but hasn't thought it out too well.

Ok. Everyone is now in game and the pace has been considerably above normal; I like to refer to that as the honeymoon period.

Just a heads up: After Memorial Weekend (that would be this upcoming weekend for anyone not in the States), I will be mostly off the grid for a week; my access to the Internet will be limited to none. I'll pick up with a vengeance when I get back. Until then we'll keep going.

EDIT: For anyone not posting at a rate, don't sweat it, nor feel obligated. The obligated rate is 1-2 post(s)/week (except during vacation).

That makes sense. Since Chunan doesn't have Fashion as a knowledge skill, I'll roll Etiquette for picking out the outfit and use the Disguise roll to implement it properly.

I missed that as I only looked in the OOC for starting money rolls. I also use the spreadsheet copy of all character sheets. I made updates there as I negotiated with each player. That gives me the ability to do look ups and jot notes for posts while offline.

Did a fairly substantial edit to my previous post to make it fall in line with your description of the Crime Mall and the Office. Next post will be Stormcrow's reply, but need to reread that portion of the core book again first. First time playing a magician of any stripe as anything more than a sideline player controlled NPC (yeah I know that doesn't entirely make sense).
