Full Version: Recruitment: SR5-FastFoodFight

Ok. There's just been too much interest in my existing SR5 Intro game. So I've allowed people to push me into starting up a second game.
Instead of starting with the classic StufferShack Food Fight scenario, this game is going to follow the Fast Food Fight mission shown in the Quick Start Rules that were released yesterday.

Based on interest in my other game, I already have a full list of players. So I'm sorry there isn't much recruitment to this one. I'm just looking for confirmation from everybody that they are still interested in playing.

POTENTIAL PLAYER LIST:
Aria
umidori
Branmac
Sunshine
horvagab
phlapjack (first alternate...or possibly a 6th player if he can manage to convince me to have that large a group)
imperialus
Well if you need another alternate I'd love to put SR5 though its paces. nyahnyah.gif

Ok, if any of the reserved players decide they aren't interested, I'll keep you in mind. I'm also keeping a list of interested players in case I can convince somebody else to GM another SR5 game.
phlapjack77
I'd be greedy if I joined both games - so please give my slot to imperialus. Of course, if you don't have enough I'd love to play, but otherwise I'll wait for that SR5 version of the post-or-die that Aria mentioned.

You know, what the hell, I'll throw my hat in the ring as a GM. If there's space I'll still take a spot in your game, but I wouldn't worry about it too much.

That sounds great. I'd love to play in it. smile.gif
Aria
Count me in! For phlapjack and others, I posted my recruitment thread (2075) at lunchtime so if you haven't seen it please hop on board smile.gif
horvagab
So as mentioned in the other thread, my current character ideas are:

Decker/Technomancer: probably looking at a legwork type of guy
Magician: currently leaning towards a mage
Gunbunny: cybered up version
Aria
Adept for me (usually is nyahnyah.gif)...probably focusing on things that 'ware can't do (or not so well)... freerunner type possibly...?
Branmac
I must now perform the happy dance. The PDF is downloaded, and a game spot is available! "Life here has been berry berry good to me."

I am perfectly fine with the rigger option I asked about in the first thread, or as an alternative something faceish would also be interesting.

Umidori
Confirming my interest.

Still on for a melee Street Sam, but if for some reason that's a no go, I'm also interested in a Mr. Lucky or a Utility Mage.

~Umi
Raiden
sign me up as an alternate!
horvagab
After looking over the corebook some more, I may keep out of a non-techno decker/cyber sam area. The math for the 'ware and stuff intiimdates me biggrin.gif

So far I'm looking at a magiican, either a Harry Dresden like magical nerd, or an elf Shaman whose family was kicked out of Tir Tairngare (sorry if misspelled?) and took up with the Ancients for a while before deciding to branch out as a runner.
Aria
Slacker, if nobody else objects could I persuade you to run this as a sub-thread in 2075? The only RAW difference would be in karma awards...there will only be this one and 'Game Face' running so people shouldn't get too lost in a mass of other thread's IC???

I tend to prefer separate threads for games just because it can get confusing at times with multiple games going on within the same thread. I know I struggled a bit when I first got into the 2072 thread with Notsoevilgm's Virtual Scream game.

But if the other players are interested in us doing that, I willing to do so.

Yeah, there's a lot of math with the cyber/bio stuff. So I understand. Either magic angle sounds good.
Umidori
I'm probably ahead of the curve by a good measure, but just a heads up that I've finished my build and background and am pretty much game ready. biggrin.gif

~Umi
Branmac
It has taken me a bit longer than I expected to wrap my head around the matrix and rigging, as well as find a few things like Autosofts for the drones, but I am almost done.
horvagab
Hm, I'll probably look into making a magician today then. I think I've figured out my priorities, but as first timer, I may ask a few stuff I'm not sure about.

I can appreciate that...how about if we have separate IC threads but with a linked OoC (and rewards) so that it minimises any confusion but has some integration into a wider SR world...?
horvagab
I won't be able to make any characters until Sunday or Monday. Feel free to move on without me.

I'd be cool with that. Any players have objections to us sharing the 2075 OoC thread while maintaining a separate IC thread for this game?

Ok, horvagab. I'm still waiting to hear back from Sunshine on if they are in or not. I may start up the IC thread before you're able to finish your character. Hopefully you'll have it done before combat gets seriously underway.

Noted. I'll see what I can do at work at least.

A question of Magic Priority A: it says I get 10 spells: can these include alchemical preparations, or do I need to buy those seperately with karma?

I'm looking for a specific reference on this, but I believe it can you can take either with the spells you get as part of your priority choice.
phlapjack77
I'd agree with this. There are spells for sorcery, and spells for alchemy. Both would count as "spells" smile.gif

For reference, I'm looking at the text for alchemy, and it always says "spells".
Pg 304
Step 1. Choose a spell
Choose the alchemical version of the spell to be prepared. Spells used in preparations are different versions of the Sorcery spells...
Step 2. Choose spell force

and so on...

Ok. I haven't gotten any response from Sunshine. So. It looks like Raiden is in the game. smile.gif

So we've got:
Aria: Freerunning Adept?
umidori: Street Sam?
Branmac: Rigger?
horvagab: Magician?
Raiden: ?

If you guys could start posting up your characters we can start moving forward with the game soon. smile.gif
Does anybody need help with chargen?
horvagab
I'll prolly need help, but I've decided on an ex-Ancient elf shaman. Will mull on it, but what do you think, which is more important for a shaman, attributes or skills?
Raiden
If I play I was thinking about a slightly cybered skill jockey

Sounds good to me. Start working him up and post when you can. smile.gif
Raiden
Should have his stats up by tomorrow. At the latest
Raiden
do we want a hacker?
Slacker

Play what you want to play most. I enjoy writing interesting host descriptions/interactions for deckers/technomancers, but I have no problems coming up with stories that don't require them.
Raiden
I really like hackers, but the newer stuff has me slightly confused. Havent finished reading over all of it yet.
horvagab
Which does a magician need more? Skills or Attributes

Thinking of
A: Special (magic)
B: either skills or attributes (or nuyen)?
C: metatype (elf)
D: skills or attributes
E: nuyen
Raiden
you could try going A metatype, B ATT, Cskills, Dmagic and using the special points to boost the magic, or swap skills with ATT

EDIT: nm D magic does now allow mages.
horvagab
To be honest, I like the "2 skill groups" at 5 of Magic A. With SUmmoning and Sorcery, I'm mostly covered in the skill group angle, and if I get Assensing and Alchemy, I think I've got the bare essentials down. Arcana is something that can wait.

What else do I need? If I'm going for elf Shaman, I can act as a secondary face, so some social skills probably.

A few points in Pistols, for sure.

Attribute wise: agility, reaction, charisma, willpower, intuition? Some Logic as well maybe?

Was there a decision on whether I can persuade you all to use my 2075 OoC thread? If you are happy to then can we post characters there and I will link them at the beginning of the thread so we can refer back to them? If not it's not really a problem, I was worried nobody was showing an interest but that seems to be ok now smile.gif

As for chargen help...I just need more time in the day nyahnyah.gif Getting there with the excel file though so hopefully will have a new verison to email out soon!

There were no objections. So yes. We'll be doing OoC within the 2075 thread.

And believe me, I understand about not having enough time in the day. I'm still running an SR4 game on here, I'm still playing in Notsoevilgm's SR4 Virtual Scream game, I'm running 2 SR5 games here, playing in 1 SR5 game, running a SR5 home campaign, and people are begging me to run yet another game over Google+ Hangouts. And I still have a ton of work to do at my actual job.
Slacker
Ok, it looks like Raiden isn't going to have the time to join this game due to some RL stuff going on. Hoping everything is ok for him there.

For the game though, it's not much of an issue since I just heard back from Sunshine who had been on a trip an unable to respond earlier. So we are right back to the group of 5 players. smile.gif

How are people doing on working up characters so far?
Sunshine
Hoi Everybody,

glad I could join. Is anything off limits for chargen?
Is there a "final version" on the Troll extra cost? Does it only affect Lifestyle or gear also (and if, what kind?)

Can anybody throw me a link to the Ooc 2075 Thread?

I am toying with an Adept (I love my FU!) or an cybered Ex-Military type. I am not sure if I can handle a Decker right away but if it is better for "unit cohesion" I'd go for it.

love,
Sunshine

P.S.: I am not a native speaker so if something I write comes off wrong please give me a hint.

So far I am still waiting on character sheets from everybody. Nobody from this thread has posted to the 2075 thread (at least not that i've noticed). But here it is anyway: http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?showtopic=39130

For chargen, we are using the standard restrictions on gear and device ratings (Max Avail 12, Max DR6). Other than that there are no restrictions.

And yeah, it's been clarified that the Troll and Dwarf extra costs apply only to Lifestyle prices.
horvagab
I'll be able to throw a sheet up in a couple of days soonest. Thanks for the understanding.

And here they come. My "Parade" of initial concepts, please comment on "fit" for the group not just on role.

"CHIMPS" (Completely Hopeless in most Policing Situations) is a Troll Investigator and former Army MP. He hit the Streets after beeing an army brat for all his life when downsizing hit his branch. A tough but methodical guy and a relentless "Hunter" when he is on a trail. His training makes him look smart where he may be not. He lives by a lot of Rules. Tagline:"When in doubt, drink soykaf!"
(Priority Table: A Troll, B Attributes, C Skills, D Ressources, E Magic)

"Margin" is a Human Decker. He calls himself a "Digital Librarian" collecting data on "just about anything™". A former programmer for an Actuary Firm he hit the streets when a "misdivination" hit his portfolio. He is a walking library on all maters statistics and a diletante in "just about anything™". Tagline:"If I got all my facts straight, the margin of error given proper analysis of variance correlating interval estimation I'd expect the escalation of the given situation into a violent one has a probability of 63% not factoring in rounding errors or actual grade of annoyedness in context to my rants significance. Any Questions?"
(Priority Table: A Skills, B Ressources, C Attributes, D Human, E Magic)

"Tribal" is a Ork Street Warrior Adept. Rooted in his 'Hood in Puyallup he grew up on the mean streets of Seattle. He thinks of "Street" as his (unforgiving) Mentor (I don't know if I will choose a Mentor Spirit to represent this, yet). He is tough and simple.Tagline: "Stay alive, then see what the next minute brings."
(Priority Table: A Attributes, B Ork, C Adept, D Skills, E Ressources)

I am submitting all three concepts by tomorrow in more detail if you'd like. Do I post the Character here the 2075 Thread or do you want it per pm/ email, Slacker?

love,
Sunshine

I think what we will do is post initial character concept sheets here. And once we have them finalized, we'll post them to the 2075 thread.

I love you concepts. All three would work though I think I'm partial to Margin. Play whichever one appeals most to you though.
Umidori
Concepts here and full sheets elsewhere once confirmed? Alrighty.

"Wootz" is a Human Street Samurai of a classical bent: a self-taught swordsman and philosopher who adheres to an eclectic personal code of honor, and who doesn't so much resemble a chrome death machine as much as a librarian or antiquarian with a katana slung over his shoulder. When an unexpected encounter offered him a chance to walk the Shadows instead of just wandering the Streets, he considered it kismet and decided to go for a stroll. He is quick, perceptive, highly principled, surprisingly scrappy, and almost dangerously laid back.

Tagline: "Never be afraid to lose your way."

Appearance - Somewhat short, with olive skin. Unkempt, medium length russet hair and hooded, green eyes. A thin, hooked nose and sharp cheekbones. An oblong chin sporting a trimmed goatee. Athletic build. Amin wears simple, practical street clothing, partly for utility and partly to better blend into the background.

Priority Table: A Attributes, B Resources, C Skills, D Human, E Magic.
