So I got into the Beta a while back, and got the ok to post a few Let's Play videos. The first one is mostly chargen and the tutorial, though there's a little bit of opening story spoilers, so be careful. The second video (once it loads) and further will be all spoilers, so watch at your own peril. smile.gif

Woo, I have been enjoying a handful of the Let's Plays that I have found on YouTube to tide over the time until it releases.

Thanks Bull, it was fun.

Ah, I have been wondering when it will finally be released. Got it on preorder since quite a while already and didn't really follow the news.

Looks really nice, looking forward to trying it myself. smile.gif

Bye

Ok, videos temporarily disabled while we make sure I got permission from the right guy at Harebrained. smile.gif

Same with the preorder, and the game looks to be fun.

I especially like the idea of the editor, how easy is it to use?

Also can this be run on a tablet? Going to stick mine on a regular PC, but just wonder if I make little adventures could I get a second game running on a tablet and load an edited setting into for the kids to play through on?

Yeah, they built it to be played on Mac/PC/Linux as well as on tablets and iPads.

But are Levels generated on a PC playable on a tablet? I believe that was the main question.

Indeed, that would be a concern, I should have worded that better.

Worst case scenario and it has to be scenarios built on a mac to go on an ipad, I can play on my pc and get a second copy for the wife's mac to design scenarios for the granddaughter to play through on her ipad.

Never too young to start learning how to run. nyahnyah.gif

Level editors these days typically create a proprietary map file that is interpreted by the game engine. (Look at WC3 and SC2 for an example of this.) Which means, if they've done it right, a level editor file (such as .sc2 and .wcm) should function cross-platform because it's just code fed into the engine to be interpreted.
Remnar
They should just release it today. I'm tired of waiting.
Ruby
Same here. I've been glaring at my Steam account in some vain hope that I can will it to be the 25th already.
cryptoknight
Same... I'm hoping the level editor isn't any harder than Neverwinter Knights was. If it's as confusing as the Foundry for NeverWinter the MMO I'll be very disappointed.

They said it's "ugly and powerful." Doesn't necessarily imply difficulty of use, but... yeah, I wouldn't bet on it being as simple as NWN was.
Bull
There's a couple of tutorials from the HBS guys on YouTube for the editor if you wanna check them out.

Yeah, not quite as a simple as NWN, but not too much more difficult. Buildings are just time consuming, since you kind of assemble them like lego pieces.

If they release a LEGO ShadowRun game, I don't know whether I will laugh or cry... but I would buy it at launch either way.
Bull
Lego Shadowrun would be... AWESOME!
Rystefn
You know, I almost said that even if it was terrible, it would still be pretty good... but after thinking about it a little, I'm pretty sure that such a thing would be like a perfect storm of "so bad it's good" and "so good it's awesome."

No they aren't. The tablet version won't be able to download user created content or make content. They mentioned maybe doing a release of some of the highest rated user created stuff for tablets but that would be far down the line.
Bigity
So...a tablet version is good for 12ish hours of play?

I'll stick to PC thanks.

Sounds like Pizza and Sex nyahnyah.gif

That said, Lego would be awesome for most visible cyberware. Got cyberlegs? Exchange the lower part!
Sendaz
Lego damage would be awesome as well.. instead of blood splatter you see lego bits go flying

The terrain building looks pretty tedious, but the conversation and event scripting looks WAY easier than NWN.

Honestly, I hope they release a lot more content packs, because Seattle and Berlin are not going to be enough for me. I want a lot of outdoor environs, not just urban. Winter, forest, jungle, etc.

The builder tools is very nice and easy. If you concentrate on scripting and story writing, you can, because the Mod community can share building and terrain models with each other. Good story scripters can concentrate on story, terrain builders can concentrate on terrain.

For Me, it was simply Tuesday!
Fyndhal
So, what? 36 hours or so? *glares at the clock*
Remnar
Doesn't someone here know someone, who knows someone, who knows someone who can get it released today? Tuesday is almost the same as Thursday.

Quick, everyone call their Fixers, we gotta have the solution here somewhere.

I have a feeling someone's done that somewhere before.

Bull, Youtube says that the video is private. You've locked me out...
You're all in on it! I knew it! A conspiracy!
I bet you're all members of the Illuminati or the Men in Black or something! Well I'll tell the world! Your secret's out!
Wait, what's with that black van pulling up out the front...

*a short while later* Peace and love, dudes. Merry Christmas. *collapses*

Beware the Bavarian Illuminati.

OK, since it's now technically THursday, and reviews and such are starting to go up, I have opened my "Bull Plays..." series once more.

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8wy...vA5EkETbjJWcHMA

Enjoy!
Bull
Part 3 up, Part 4 going up soon as it processes.
SCARed
thanks Bull. I will definetly give those a look!
Elfenlied
Somehow, I knew you would be creating an Ork decker before I clicked the video. smile.gif
Bull
I have a Dwarf rigger, human sam, and an ork mage that I've played too. But of course I had to go Ork Decker for the Let's Play series smile.gif
Remnar
My plan was to make a combat(ish) Ork Decker in honor of my first SR character. His name was not Bull though, so don't worry smile.gif

How's the decking in this game? Pretty fun?

Hey Bull, how viable is a dedicated Face build?

From my first impression: Intimidate is based on your Strength stat. Every two points spent in Charisma unlock one Etiquette specialization, and those unlock certain dialogue choices.
FuelDrop
So... somewhat, but you're still going to need to drop something into combat. Cool.

Thus far, most combats can be avoided. The ones that can't usually provide you with a companion who can cover that base.

Several more videos post. Up to Part 8, and will hopefully have 9 and 10 uploaded later today. Just went through my favorite section. Damn this is a fun game.
LordlierPie
Really, really bug free to, which makes me very happy. I have only found 2. one, sometimes the dialog screen doesnt show my chat options, but it is ok ause i c an still highlight through them and pick randomly. the other one was a single occurance where my street sam moved two IP distances with out it costing any IP.

Indeed.
A not-a-bug-but-undesired-bahvior is that you can accidentally double-click the [...] button and skip a dialog sequence and not be able to go back. Sadface.
quentra
I ran into a few bugs, but nothing gamebreaking. Minor annoyances, really.
Draco18s
Oh, I did see a NPC move, then jump to a different position. It was still a valid move, it just looked like the client and (non-existent) server got out of synch.
quentra
The most annoying bug was my pistol special attacks not showing up, and WR dodge applying to any effect targeted on yourself, not just attacks.

And a few times an event wouldn't trigger on a mission, but reloading the level always fixed that.
