Trust me, there is plenty of narcoject to go around. 20 clips for a pistol.
Fenris
Nikoli - Holes are few and far between. There appears to be no defense geared towards the top of the house. The area covered by the grounds and the minimal number of guards and dogs provides ample holes there as well.

Good tactics include aerial insertion and extraction, ultrasound emitters/detectors and climbing gear to breach the walls, and infiltration via false identities.

Tisoz - The call on great forms is that yes, they don't count against your one per domain. Just consider that you're wandering around with several great form spirits always present, or doing tasks at a specific location with an astral signature linked to yours.

Tinkergnome - The facility is owned by Michael Versuvio. It is outside of Lone Star's contracted area, so all security is private. Black Eagle security company installed the camera's, scanners at the gates, and advanced mag locks on the house, however, there is no mainence plan. The house has a matrix system, however there is no information available in a standard search as to whether or not the security system is on the Matrix. The house system is on the Snohomish LTG, under the same RTG Seattle operates under. Landscaping is apparently private as well. Civil engineering plans are sketchy, beyond basic blueprints for the land and the walls. The walls, by the way, are 2 metres tall.

All - The target is two boxes of chips. The boxes are both 2'x1'x9", and made of plastic.

Also, posting will be light this weekend from me, if at all. Going to Oregon.

CardboardArmor
I'm all for aerial infiltration or that false identities one.
Nikoli
The false ID's sounds best to me.
paul_HArkonen
yeah personally I'd go with false IDs works pretty well providing someone can fill as a pseudo face
Nikoli
Good looking and knows it, friendly face, ettiquette of 4
Also, cooking of like 5 and perform of 5. Not sure where that will get me, but it may very well be a foot in the door

I'm going to do a drive by so I could find the estate from the astral. Going to perceive for wards and spirits.
[ Spoiler ]
TinkerGnome
Redirect datatrail is really just trace protection. I'll roll it if you want. Anyway, analyze host followed by logon to host. The TN on both is reduced by his channels (5) and his tradition (1) for a total of -6 to the ratings for his TNs. DF is 12.

[ Spoiler ]

tisoz
Does anyone have vehicle skills?

Should we wait until daylight to drive by and check out the estate? Irving has a point, but darkness makes it hard to see race. So do tinted windows though. My feeling was the sooner we check things first hand, the sooner we find out what was missing from the briefing data and the sooner we formulate a decent plan.

vehicle skills, no but i can blow stuff up if you want me to.

makes sense to me, and I'll just add my perception test right now since i think Tisoz already did his as well

Perception: 5,5,4,3

not bad for a 4 int
Nikoli
I have a toyota elite, seats four comfortably, even trolls and orks, has an auto of 4 and I have car of 2 or so. not combat level, but I can parrallell park like a mo-fo
Fenris
Tinker - For future reference, you have to be in the host to analyze it.

Also, I'll need rolls for accessing all RTG's and LTG's accessed during your trip, since your security tally carries over.

It's an Orange-8 12/13/12/13/12 system.

TinkerGnome
I know that's the general rule, however, I was wanting to see if there were traps or encryption on the access subsystem (which I should have spelled out). Doesn't make sense that you have to walk into the middle of it in order to check it. I'll pretend I don't know the ratings for now wink.gif

Tally doesn't carry between RTGs. It also doesn't carry between grids and hosts (unless those hosts are on PLTGs).

I'll make up the rest of the rolls tonight.
paul_HArkonen
Wow, that's great You could have just said "Irving, you notice you are a troll, good job."

anyway, that's my anger at my poor rolls for now
TinkerGnome
It was a double brainfart. I think I meant Analyze Subsystem. Oh, well.

Rolls as requested:

[ Spoiler ]

That puts us at the house computer. Whew. He picked up one tally point on the UCAS SO RTG, but it shouldn't carry over to Seattle. If necessary/possible, he'll perform an analyze subsystem test on the access to the host to make sure it's not trapped (no idea what that'd require rolling against) and then log on. Once on, he's going to do another analyze host and try to sniff out info on what the host controlls (let me know what tests you want me to make for that). He gets five bits of info, so he'll go with host rating (orange cool.gif, whether or not there's a vanishing SAN, whether or not it's a bouncer, whether
tisoz
Assense the wards on the guardhouse.
[ Spoiler ]

What is the guard shack constructed of?
Fenris
Tinker - But it does carry over between LTG's on the same RTG, so please post your rolls wink.gif And I'll roll my rolls from now on, although I appreciate the effort to speed up the game.

Pg. 215 - Note that a decker must be on the host to run an Analyze Host operation on it - no sneak previews from the grid.

Orange 8 wink.gif Not a bouncing SAN, no vanishing SAN, and I'm assuming you'll get around to requesting those other two items.

Tisoz - Ward on the guardhouse is rating 6. Astral signature noted. The same summoner that conjured the ward conjured the watchers. It's not able to not lifespan, however, since their lifespan does not change their aura in any way.

Paul - If you'll give me a better idea of what you're looking for, I'll let you know what you saw with your perception test. With the numbers I see and no specific items to look for, I gave you the obvious information that you didn't already have from the datachips.
tisoz
Should know the exact force of all but 1.
paul_HArkonen
No, that's fine i'm not mad or anything, I understand why i saw nothing, i just thought your choice of what obvious thing i saw was funny, don't worry about it.
TinkerGnome
Locate slave action, probably. Base TN 6 using 8 dice. Takes 3 net successes, so I'm going to go ahead and roll three attempts. He stops at 3 successes, though. He's looking for the camera system right now.

07 05 05 04 04 03 02 02
09 08 08 05 05 04 03 03
13 09 05 05 05 05 04 01

He should get it at the second one.
Fenris
Tinker - Yup, got it in two.
TinkerGnome
Okay, monitor slave action. Every TN I have in this system is a 6 or 7 wink.gif

07 05 05 04 04 04 03 02

And a retry if that one fails

07 05 05 05 03 03 01 01

And another if that one also fails

16 08 07 05 04 02 02 01

Geeze. Otaku are harder to spot than deckers, but they're not any better wink.gif
Fenris
Tinker - You're first roll accessed the slave.

Tisoz - Sorry about that, the force on the watchers is 6, same as the ward on the guard house.

tisoz
You are aware maximum force for a watcher is 1/2 of Magic rounded up? I inquire because you were saying he wasn't more powerful.
Fenris
Tisoz - Urp, got my watcher calculations mixed up again. You're right, of course. Read all at 3.
TinkerGnome
What's going on with the video stream thing? Analyze subsystem roll if it will help:

08 07 05 04 03 01 01 01
Fenris
Tinker - Oh, now you analyze the subsystem wink.gif It's loaded with scramble IC, so you'll have to decrypt it before you can do anything with it.
Nikoli
*snort*
TinkerGnome
Decrypt action.

Nikoli
*golf clap* nicely done TinkerGnome
TinkerGnome
Heh, I'm not used to GMs who actually know how the matrix works wink.gif

Monitor slave action a few times to get an idea of what the camera feeds can show him. A good idea of coverage area as well as where the alarm feeds are going would be his intent. If he spots any IC, he will cut and run (graceful logoff) at the first opportunity.
[ Spoiler ]

Okay, that was some sucky die rolling. To log off if need be:

I'm using my Magic (4) and Insect Spirits (3) Knowledge to see if I can Identify how the astral signature feels weird and tainted.

05 05 04 03
05 04 01
Fenris
Tisoz - Nothing that feels obvious, and it's definitely not bug magic. All that would be needed for this sort of minor taint would be twisted mage doing the summoning.
tisoz
I think it would be a good idea to see what we can find out about Michael Versuvio, the owner of the estate. Check with contacts in the morning. Start a data search asap.

I'll post something IC when game time is an hour normal people are awake. Going to sleep until then unless someone has a better idea.
Fenris
Tinker - Just to clarify, you're sure there's more information available in the system.
tisoz
Is there some way to identify the target chips beyond finding 2 boxes with the correct dimensions?
Fenris
Not with the information you've been given. You can make some assumptions of where it won't be located, however, like the kitchen, bathrooms, etc wink.gif
Bearclaw
Much like real life, everything freezes while the decker works smile.gif
paul_HArkonen
sounds right to me
Fenris
We're looking at 4 days without an IC post, even with the time bump. Is there something holding the group up, something I need to clarify for you to move forward, or should I just start looking for other players?
TinkerGnome
I don't know how accessing a slave works if you've not just found it (ie, you're coming back later). So here are some rolls, for access, etc.

Ideally, it's Logon to Host, Decrypt subsystem, Monitor slave or the like. He's looking for interior cameras and the like.

[ Spoiler ]
tisoz
I feel like you've set us up to fail. Without a way to ID our target, a stealthy search is going to trip up somewhere.

We got told there was a job with quite vague terms of what it was about, offered a ridiculouse payment for going in totally blind, and told you weren't going to answer any questions until we agreed to those terms. The next thing I know, I have accepted the job under those terms and have been ushered out.

I figured the information would be on the data chip we were given, but it is pretty incomplete. I don't see how anything we know other than the actual address of the place, and I'm only assuming we were actually told that, could compromise this run. What's the big secret?

Is it part of the run that we get captured or killed?

It's not like I and TinkerGnome haven't been trying to figure out what we are up against. Multimillion nuyen state of the art defense from all appearances. Where are the B&E guys? Start rolling some skills and maybe Fenris will tell you a workable plan.

You win the shadowrun. Bring in the next batch of losers.
Bearclaw
That's a little harsh.

Anyway, I've been quiet, watching the decker work. So far as I know, I'm still sitting in a car cruising around the target area. It sounds like he's got complete access to their security system through the matrix, so he should be able to break something that needs to be fixed.
Then, he intercepts the call to whoever, and we show up in half an hour.
We don't do this until we have a decent idea where we're going of course, but I imagine our decker will also be able to work that out.
tisoz
In case you didn't notice he advanced the time to the next day.

If someone wants to know if there's a problem, tell him.

You have no problem telling me.

This is the second time he's advanced the timeline while waiting on people to respond, he uses it like a whip. Each time people were not asking questions or posting, like they were waiting for someone else. I know the first time I was waiting for him.

I have no doubt we can get someone in the house, but I don't see them getting out without running into trouble. Since the target is basically unmarked, that means a search of the entire place, plus secret vaults or whatever. Just to make sure you have every possible target, or you can go back with the first ones you find and explain we wouldn't have gotten the porn collection if he had said he wanted the super secret encoded chips.

Hey, if anyone wants me out, I'm more than happy to oblige. But if someone wants to know what's the matter, tell them.

BtW, I noticed the poll he put up asking if the other game he started at the same time where he is paying them twice as much was too little. Go check the responses. The verdict is, we got hosed.
paul_HArkonen
I have to aggree, as much as I would love ot have my troll walk through the entire facility ignoring bullets and such it would eventually suck cause i would get an all ones roll and get hurt, badly, we need a target location or something like that at least, otherwise i think we can roll with this. but yeah for what we have, we're pretty hosed.
Fenris
I'm sorry you all feel that way. I was completely up front with the fact that I would be bumping time along to keep things in the game moving, and that I expected posts on a regular basis. Nobody was waiting on any responses from me, if you're waiting on something from another player you need to deal with that with him.

If you feel you've been duped or forced along IC, you're fault, not mine. I never made any of your characters do anything, and I've provided you with the information I believe your employer could be reasonably expected to have. It's up to you to do additional legwork if you want, or just blast in and level the place, they even left the option up to you.

Truthfully, I've never seen a run with more legwork done on checking out the Johnson then checking out the location.

Long story short, as much as I'd like to run a consistent campaign with long term characters, if you're not having fun, leave. I don't have enough free time to stress out about this game, so I'm not going to.

Also, I'm instituting a 1 karma per RL week of game time, to help represent the fact that at a table top game, things would be moving along much quicker and your characters would be progressing. You can all take 5 points of karma, with a new one every Monday.
paul_HArkonen
sorry, i am enjoying it, and really blowing it all to hell might be fun, but mostly we just need a little moer detail as to the target, namely what exactly it is, or looks like, or something, somehting that our employer who knows what he wants could easily tell us.

that's it I'm done, but I am staying in.
Bearclaw
Maybe if you were to pull up Paint, and give us a basic drawing, that would help a lot. Anyway, I'm in as long as it's alive.

Bearclaw - A basic drawing of what? The house? The grounds? Interior?

All - Based on the level of security in the house, and the fact that someone's paying the team 60-70k to get these chips, you can assume they're not going to be laying around in someone's bedroom next to a pile of discarded tissue. Also, these are industrial sized chip boxes. Each chip fills maybe 10 cm sq, so there are hundreds of chips in these boxes. These are not going to be a movie collection, or somebodies music.
