Fenris
CardboardArmor: Countdown - Pistol Adept
Tisoz: Tolkien Jones - Full Shaman
TinkerGnome: Raton - Decker
Paul Harkonen: Irving - Troll meat wall
Nikoli: Kaneda - Pistol-Sam
Bearclaw: Lee - Racoon Shaman B&E specialist.

This is the OOC thread. All rolls and game mechanics comments and questions should be posted here. Each time we switch scenes, please indicate in this thread what gear you are bringing with you. Nothing worse then trying to drone on for 15 lines in the IC thread to make sure the GM knows what gear you have. If you don't indicate a gear list each scene change, I will assume your gear list is the same.

No signatures in the IC thread. Breaks the flow. Standard formatting is to highlight team members names in bold. Helps people pick out references to themselves and keeps conversations flowing. Dialogue spoken outloud should use quotes (" "). Text in italics is assumed to be non-verbal or over comms.

You've lost a B&E specialist and a rigger with the two people that have dropped out. Do you want me to replace them?
paul_HArkonen
I think not, unless we know we'll get a rigger, otherwise i think we're go.
Raiko
I'll running short of on-line games that I'm involved in, and I can get a rigger done within 48 hours or so. I don't have one handy, but I like riggers and I'm familliar with Rigger 3.

You could start without me if necessary, and whichever character knows mine could just give me call when my character is ready.

Chance359
I could throw a B&E specialist together if theres still room.
Fenris
There are 6 people in the game. If you two can get the majority vote, you're in.
tisoz
Fenris, you pretty much nailed my character's social life. I want a re-roll on losing her, or finding someone else. smile.gif

A rigger sounds good to me. Does anyone have a sweet biotech skill? I'd rather have someone that can do some mundane healing, than another B&E guy.

I"ll start the Team Karma Pool by contributing half of my karma pool. Ok, so it is only 1 point, but that's what happens when you are non-human and have the Bad Karma flaw. Any way:

Team Karma Pool: 1
TinkerGnome
Raton already said he was kicking in a point of team karma in the BG thread. Actually, the question is less who contributes and more "does the team want to have a team karma pool" because if we do, then everyone has to kick in at least one point.
Nikoli
I'll definitly kick in a point

And I'd like to see either the Rigger or B&E have biotech. I was going to but dropped the skill wires due to cost constraints and essence.
And I an not a B&E, I just don't want teh Sam to be the one setting off the alarms if I can help it.
TinkerGnome
Raton has the skillwires but not the chip. We can buy one for him out of the advance money for the run if need be, I don't want to delve into trying to revamp the character right now.

Raton's tribe (name, age, sex, race, screenname):

Meghan Lewis, 17 F, Human, "MG"
Cody Faires, 14 M, Elf, "Bait+Switch"
Lance Avallone, 12 M, Human, "Lancelot"
Clinton Echeverri, 16 M, Ork, "Eastwood"
Ericka Navarrette, 11 F, Human, "Sprite"

[edit]Yes, I'm verbose. Searching the Matrix (simple search) for any news items that seem relevant or China town goings on:

TN: Base 4, low profile +2, high initiative -1, smart frame assistance -2, et/matrix bonus -1 = 2
Base time: 1d6 hrs = 2 hrs
Roll: 05 05 05 04 03 03 03 02 02

Nikoli
Just for my own knowledge, when did I get the call from Strings and is the meet that night or the next?
paul_HArkonen
I'm go for the team pool, i'll chip in my 2 points.
paul_HArkonen
shall i assume that Fred gave me the time of the meet as well, cause in the post it doesn't say. Or do i have to clal him back and yell at him to get the adress?
Bearclaw
Lee is a path of the mage phys ad, and has a first aid skill of 3 biggrin.gif
He also throws a mean Heal, but that doesn't really help much on guys with skill wires.

Fenris>>On the karma pool thing....do we chip in good karma or karma pool, and as I ended up with 94 karma, my karma pool is pretty high. Should I lose the extra points from the karma pool and add it to my character?
TinkerGnome
Do you get karma pool out of purchased karma? I wasn't clear on that one and didn't take any that way.

You do contribute pool, though.
Nikoli
I always took that as good karma, not karma pool
TinkerGnome
I meant, "do you get karma pool for ever 10th/20th karma out of purchased karma" not the other way of reading it. So if you start with 50 and have a pool of 6 (you're human), and you buy 20 more, do you have a pool of 8 and get 18 good karma to spend on other stuff? Or can you just spend those 2 karma instead?

Looks like I do need to rework the character a bit.

And team karma is definitely pool and not good karma (SRComp, p 82).
Nikoli
Sad.
I know NSRCG doesn't put purchaed karma into the karma pool, only earned, so that might be a good question to field to McMackie
Nikoli
Oh, fyi Fenris, Shootign hand is typically left, but the cyber-gun is in the right. my feeling is the SL system would switch between the two automatically, no gun, use the fuchi, hold a gun, turn that off. (this avoids the 2 weapon shooting but still gives me an ace)

Guys since we know and have worked with each other before, howabout we post a few of the 'tricks' we worked into our characters so we can better plan the tactics we would use. Maru-san is a tactician (SUT 4 or 5), he has gel rounds normally loaded in his shooting pistol and EX-explosive in the backup cyber pistol (if you're down to the backup, its a matter of survival)

He carries a few non-lethal grenades, 1 or 2 slip spray grenades, a few freeze foam grenades 1 freeze foam solvent grenade and if the need is there a neruo-stun grenade. he also loads out a dart pistol with narco-ject rounds.

For stealth runs, the recently mentioned armor setup, a US spoofer and a jammer if need be. He typically only speaks via radio, through a transducer while on runs.
He is not a B&E kinda guy, he's just not likely the one the guards will spot.
paul_HArkonen
Irving is the one the guards will spot but on the other hand it doesn't really matter, he's there to distract and take bullet shots, not much is going to hurt him too badly, balistic armor of 8 and body of 17, yeah, not much is strong enough to really hurt, but that are his tricks stand up and distract them while everyone else runs. He is very good at that tough. and at shooting other things all to hell, when i said meat wall i meant it.
Bearclaw
Lee is a total pacifist. He will hurt some one in an emergency, but he won't do anything that stands a good chance of killing some one.
He's got several grenades; flash, concussion and Thermal smoke.
He also has lots of illusions like trid phantasm that will make sure no one pays any attention to him at all. He's a big fan of ducking around a corner, concealing himself in a doorway, then having his phantasmal self fire a shot back from around the next corner as the bad guys come around. By the time anyone figures it out, he'll be eating fresh salmon in the Space Needle.
In an emergency, he has Clout and Stunball.
TinkerGnome
Sorry guys, I was feeling typish wink.gif

Searching the Matrix (simple search) for info on the meet location. I'd like a layout, etc, if possible (doesn't matter if I get a real one, just so Raton can plan escape routes, etc):

TN: Base 4, low profile +2, high initiative -1, smart frame assistance -2, et/matrix bonus -1 = 2
Base time: 1d6 hrs = 3 hrs
Roll: 14 10 10 05 05 02 02 01 01
Roll Summary: #D:9 TN:2 H#:14 S:7
Fenris
Tinker - The Matrix search turns up basic plans for a strip mall of small offices along the docks. That particular office is just one of many. Each of the offices was created with the same basic floor plan, just one open receptionist area in the front, an office in the back, a store room, and a small restroom.
TinkerGnome
Anything from the headlines of the day?
TinkerGnome
Okay, I'm good at writing myself into trouble wink.gif

Let's see if I can write myself out of it. Same search TN as before, roll:

09 09 08 08 07 05 05 04 02

Hopefully he'll turn up that he's wanted for questioning. Then he will proceed to fix that little problem.
Nikoli
I gotta hand it to you, that's a new one on me. Using aastral sight to hit on women. very smooth.

That was just a side benefit, like looting. The real purpose was to get a secure safehouse without having to provide ID. What some people must go through to do their job. wink.gif

Must start thinking like Face, must start thinking.....
paul_HArkonen
please tell me the page long entries aren't what is expected from all of us, i can do it, but man will it be laborious for you to read, and for me to write. ;)
CardboardArmor
I can't speak for everyone, but if you write it long enough for me to understand clearly what you're doing and garnish it with enough style for me to know it was you that wrote it (in-character stuff, etc.) I'll be cool with it.
paul_HArkonen
oh well long posts seem to be the Mo for today so i'll just go with it, sorry about the poor quality of writing though, its not my stong suit.
tisoz
I guess I could have just said, "He went to a hotel, conned a woman and the hotel into letting him use her room for a few days and tried his contacts," but that seemed a bit too easy. It's also before things are rolling along, so just trying to entertain you.

Anyway. Someone mentioned letting others know what kinds of things to expect from your character, since we are supposed to be familiar with each other. Token has that high elven charisma love.gif , people are drawn to him. With Invoking, he usually has half a dozen nature spirits and half a dozen watchers with him. He isn't shy about using services to conceal the team, and confuse the enemy. In combat, he is usually busy commanding his platoon of spirits. Since he isn't usually actively casting, he allocates most of his dice to spell defense. He knows invoking, centering and channeling.

He doesn't have a lot of contacts, but could try the Face thing, he has the Good Looking and Knows It and Good Reputation edges to compliment a nice Negotiation skill, and a fair Ettiquette skill. He notices things with the perceptive edge and high Intelligence, and will assense every chance he gets. cool.gif

Lest you think he is just another pretty elf, he learned to use a pistol during his short, war torn stint in the military when he was just a lad (before most of you were born), as well as staying hidden to avoid getting his hoop shot off. The couple of decades in corp security and nearly the last decade working the shadows have done nothing but further hone his skills.

I better stop before it gets too long. read.gif
Nikoli
Etiquette test with Jimmy:9:7:5:3 and I have a -1 that applies in the situation from Good looking and knows it.
TinkerGnome
You know, I never did one of those intro blurbs.

Raton's a mousy kid who dosn't have much in the way of typical shadowrun skills. He relies on chips to get by with most combat, but mostly he just keeps his head down. The Matrix is another topic entirely, and he's never run across a system he couldn't crack, given time.
tisoz
Did we get a rigger? Did we get a Medic, or how about a Tech kind of guy. One that knows chemistry, forensics, good at analyzing stuff we may find. I'd rather have someone like this than another B&E or pistol guy. I'd even go for a full combat mage with some elementals or a heavy weapons guy, at least AR. Maybe a combat rigger and a surveillance rigger? Anyone else have some ideas?

[ Spoiler ]
Raiko
I'm still working on my rigger (nearly done though).

He's a 28 year old Ork Drone Rigger called Pretorian.

He will have Biotech (First Aid), it's likely to be 4(6) or 4(5) so he does have more general Biotech then just First Aid.

I've not picked his knowledge skills yet, so I'm not sure if he'll have any science stuff.

I'm reading though the other thread to help fit my background in. Pretorian used to operate surveillance / news drones for Newsnet before running the shadows. His drones found out the wrong secret about the wrong corporate exec, so the Shadows were the only place he could run to.

Nikoli
There's a potential tie-in with my character.
Maybe it was my Johnson you found it out about (he had a daliance with a meta, big no-no in Japanese business culture). I bought your silence and the data and gave you the heads up about a strike team that wasn't mine.
Maru-san is a former corp "Trouble shooter", a legit shadowrunner if you will. He lost his job saving the honor of an executive friend.
paul_HArkonen
In case you couldn't tell from the dream thing, Irving is ex-military, he got himself "dead", thanks to some Yakuza friends. he runs the shadows to provide an end to some of his boredom, as well as to get some extra cash. He specializes in killing things dead, and not dieing himself. He can take bullet fire easily and yeah, that's about it,

I'm hoping for a rigger to join, other than that I've got Good old DocWagonTM to pull me out of the fire.
TinkerGnome
Okay, I'm not sure how much time we're looking at. Having found out that he's wanted, Raton will probably try to "fix" the matter by doing some hacking. The intelligencier is the obvious target, but the Star might be a target as well. Let me know what kind of hosts those are and what kinds of rolls I'll need in order to make this go fast.

If we're getting close to meet time, we can just skip it, though.
TinkerGnome
Actually, I found the Star security sheaf in Target: Matrix. While I believe that Raton could probably pull it off, it's also a lot more risk than it's worth this early in the game. If he's got an easy fix for it, he'll try that, though.

[edit] The Lone Star host is a Red 8/13/11/12/14/12 with Probe-10 at 3 and an equal decker at 7 [/edit]

As an experiment I rolled it out. Use it or not if you want.

Token is heading past the meet location in Chinatown, noting astral guideposts, then heading to the boat and conjuring some spirits.

[ Spoiler ]

Tell watchers to alert me of astral intruder or if anyone boards boat, attack anything that attacks me.

Tell spirits to attack anyone that attacks me. (Oh well, there goes a service from each one.)

Take nap in lodge/stateroom, rating 12.

Bearclaw
tisoz, is Token a full shaman? I ask because I am not. I can't even percieve.
Bearclaw
Hey, is it still today or is it tomarrow.
I mean, as of right now, in IC land, is the meet tomarrow night, or tonight?
TinkerGnome
Raton is into the day of the meet when he returns Lee's call, if that's any help.
Bearclaw
So I guess a night time recon won't happen.
tisoz
Full, astral projecting, spell slingin', spirit conjurin', shaman. He is just oriented toward conjuring more than sorcery.

I'm also into the AM of the meet.

QUOTE (Bearclaw)
So I guess a night time recon won't happen.

Go ahead, do it as a flashback, or whatever. I carried on 2 conversations in the same post that didn't happen simultaneously, hope it wasn't confusing, because of the time delay of playing by post.
Nikoli
Man, if this keeps up we may need to back-edit and add time-stamps
Bearclaw
QUOTE (Nikoli)

No, I don't think we need to worry about that. Although, if the GM were to date/time stamp his posts it would help keep everything moving at the same rate smile.gif
It's OK, I'll ask my pal Bandit to go take a look around for me.
Bearclaw
Crap, I just realized I never spent the bonus 3 points I got for character background.

I've made a slight adjustment to my spell list to take advantage of the 3 extra karma.
First, I added another Materialization form for Bandit; A tall Amerind with long black hair in a black suit and tie.

I dropped stunball, as it's non-optimal for me anyway, and used those 2 plus one more to get:

Smoke Cloud(E) - 5
Catalog(E) - 3 takes care of the other point

Had I remembered the three points, I would have done these before the origonal creation. Hopefully our WISE AND POWERFUL GM doesn't have a problem with it wink.gif
