How are Reth and Cleaver set up, communications-wise? Stitch has a micro-transceiver/transducer set-up, as well as a cell phone if no one else has a transceiver. I'm not asking IC because these guys are supposed to have worked with each other before, so it's something Stitch would likely know already.
I mean, if we're going to all be invisible, we need to be able to communicate in order to coordinate our actions.

Hand signals?
Good question as all I recall Reth doesn't even have a cellphone.

I guess we'll have to plan out the details ahead of time, then, so I'll pop over to the IC thread.

You guys, gonna...you know...finalize a plan?
Glyph
Jul 29 2004, 08:38 AM
If no one chimes in with any objections, I guess my plan is the final plan. I am going to assume that's the case and make my rolls for it here. If someone wants to change the plan, then disregard them, but otherwise we can get the story moving along again.
Stitch will have his Power Focus active (I am assuming he already has his Sustaining Focus going), and will allow his Spell Pool to refresh before each spell, giving him 14 dice to split between casting and adding to Drain resistance for each spell - the Sustained spell modifiers will make it tough, so he needs to maximize his effectiveness.
Invisibility of self: 10 dice to cast it (at Force: 6), and 4 added to Drain (4M) test:
casting: 5 5 5 4 4 4 3 3 2 1 (6 successes)
Drain: 9 8 5 4 4 4 3 3 1 1 (takes no Drain)
Normal Stealth roll for sneaking there: 14 3 1 1
Stunbolt ganger: 11 dice to cast it (at 6M), and 3 to resist Drain (4M). +2 TN
casting: 9 5 5 4 3 2 2 1 1 1 1
Drain: 10 5 5 5 4 4 3 1 1 (takes no Drain)
If he needs to cast it again (same dice allocation) -
casting: 7 5 5 4 4 4 4 2 2 2 1
Drain: 7 4 4 3 2 2 2 1 1 (takes Light stun)
Invisibility on the ganger: 8 dice to cast it (at Force: 5, TN of 6/7), and 6 added to resist Drain (5 or 6M)
casting: 9 4 4 3 1 1 1 (1 success)
Drain: 5 5 5 5 5 5 4 4 2 1 1 1 (if he didn't need a second Stunbolt, he takes no Drain; otherwise, he takes Moderate stun for 4 boxes total)
Levitate on the ganger: 8 dice to cast it (at Force: 3, TN of 8 or 10), and 6 added to resist Drain (7 or 9 M)
casting: 11 8 5 3 2 2 1 1 (at least 1 success, which is all he really needs)
Drain: 14 10 5 4 4 3 3 2 2 1 1 1 (reduced it to Light, so either has 1 box of stun or 5, depending on whether he needed that second stunbolt)
If the ganger has a lower than average Willpower, Stitch comes out pretty okay. If he has a high Willpower, though, then I may need to change tactics from what I have posted, if the two bolts combined still can't take him out, or maybe don't affect him at all.

I'll let you alter the plan for two guys...

Jul 30 2004, 05:16 AM
My plan
did account for two guys - Reth and Cleaver were going to be taking out the other one. But if anyone has a different plan, feel free to chime in on the IC thread - mine was probably not the most optimal of plans.

Fresno Bob

Well, my understanding is that Cleaver takes out the other ganger with silenced gel ammo, and you levitate him out. I could be wrong, it is Glyph's plan.

The relevant posts in the IC thread were:
QUOTE |
"Alright, two mages with invisibility spells, that's great," Mech says. "Stitch, you turn yourself invisible. Reth, you turn yourself and Cleaver invisible. The three of you sneak over to the gangers, take them out with magic and silenced pistols with gel rounds, then turn them invisible as well and carry them back here." |
QUOTE |
Stitch sits down and converses with the other two members of the strike team in a low voice. He proposes that he take out the one on the left side from approaching the back, while Reth and Cleaver nab the one on the right. Since there doesn't seem to be any magical opposition, Reth and Stitch can keep track of each other's position by using astral perception. Stitch will stunbolt his ganger while invisible, while Cleaver shoots his target. Then after Cleaver grabs his ganger, Reth can turn the ganger invisible too, while Stitch will turn his invisible, then levitate him along.
"Of course, the biggest downside to this is that both of us spellslingers will have to sling a lot of mojo... casting a spell while you already have one going is tough, and so is keeping several going at once. Let's just take it slow, cast carefully, and get the job done. We still need to be able to function later, but getting information is our priority right now." |
So Reth needs to roll for three invisibility spells in total (waiting for Cleaver to start hauling the unconscious ganger before turning the ganger invisible), while Cleaver needs to roll to hit the ganger with gel rounds or whatever else he decides to use.
Assuming they agree with the plan as it now stands, that is.

Speaking of heads being splattered on a wall, Cleaver and Stitch get one karma point.
