Possible Mods: -2 for Knowledge skill of 6+, (I'm not gunna bother keeping a low profile, instead I'll just trust my high DF), -1 for Initiative of +4D6, -1 for Browse of 6+, -2 for appropriate database (Data Havens Knowledge Skill of 6), and -1 for Matrix Etiquette of 5+.
BishopMcQ
Sep 10 2004, 10:56 PM
Ecc--A couple times thus far, I've seen you say that you are trusting your DF instead of keeping a low profile...do you realize the low profile option keeps me from rolling the wrong party test? Your DF doesn't come up during info searches...
Search will take 4 hours.
Ecclesiastes
Sep 10 2004, 11:49 PM
Hmm. Good point. I just figured a DF of 12 was all she'd need, but yeah, info searches aren't resisted, so it doesn't come into play. How does it work if she doesn't keep a low profile? Does everyone automaticly know she is looking? If that is the case, I'll keep a low profile.
BishopMcQ
Sep 11 2004, 12:08 AM
IF you don't take a low profile, then the "Wrong Party" test gets rolled. 3d6 tn#6 to see if someone finds out what you are looking for. Generally if you take the low profile option, the TN raises to 10, but I simply don't roll it if you take the modifier.
Ecclesiastes
Sep 11 2004, 12:10 AM
I'll take the modifier then. I've got other mods to bring it back down and 14 dice to toss around, so it shouldn't hurt too bad.
BishopMcQ
Sep 11 2004, 12:19 AM
Understood, the search will take 5 hours then. Technically 4.8 but I'm rounding.

So with 5 successes on the search, what exactly did I find out? There wasn't a whole lot of detail there. Or is that all there is? Time to make use of that handy dandy Info Sortilage Echo...
BishopMcQ
Sep 11 2004, 12:52 AM
There's not a lot of detail available on the BTLs in the matrix. But you have your 5 successes to work your info sortilage magic.
I believe the team is waiting on you to unplug before making their next step to pack up and leave the area.

Leo--Yes, in the fragmented files that Trixie found there was mention of a report that Zeidel was shizophrenic, but that came out late in the investigation around his death.
Ecc--I'm fluid with it. It says you have to sit down and think about how everything fits together...I'd say it's possible to do that while you're sleeping since you've been entrenched in this investigation to the exclusion of eating and sleeping for the most part.

| QUOTE |
Though most of the files are fragmented, Trixie is able to assemble a rough outline of Markham Zeidel's life and research. A UCAS native, he studied at MITT for his doctorate in cybertechnology. His thesis dealt with research into the X factor in AIs and attempts to recreate the process in a laboratory. All of his experiments failed, though his research was still widely accepted. Two weeks ago, he was found dead by his personal assistant. The researcher had died from obviously self-inflicted wounds and, later, it came out that he had been non-compliant on medication to deal with schizophrenia that had developed late in life.
The call was put out by numerous fringe members of the population that he was murdered, but civil officials have found no proof to corroborate this and have written it off as the rumormongering of criminals and conspiracy theorists. |
Leowulf--here is the exact quote...no one ever corroborated the sources though...

Thanks McQuillan. My bad on the Portugal thing earlier. I was watching a documentary having to do with Portugal the night I read the post about Mennon, and I got the memories confused. You covered it well in IC though.

I'll default to Intelligence, since Biomage doesn't have SMG B/R, unless anyone else does.

My apologies to the gun aficionados, I've never disassembled an SMG or added on any form of recoil suppression after market to a gun. But since Biomage doesn't exactly know what he's doing, we're in the same boat.
Fenris
Sep 14 2004, 11:24 PM
lol...sorry, just the picture of the mage sitting there staring at the pieces of the gun on the table with a confused look on his face.
I've got Pistol B/R, and with some task pool I might be able to swing something (Defaulting to another linked skill is only a +2, right?): 2,2,2,11,8
Leowulf
Sep 14 2004, 11:59 PM
Here's a few more rolls to see if Biomage can pull this off. If not, then Biomage will just put the gun back together and give up.
Intelligence Roll: 5, 3, 2, 7, 1
Intelligence Roll: 1, 3, 9, 3, 5
Intelligence Roll: 5, 2, 2, 1, 4
I think it's a TN of 11 due to a base of 5 with +4 for defaulting and +2 for inadquate tools. If that's true, then it's a no go.
I just thought of something too. Biomage has a point of good karma still. Maybe I could use it to buy a point of SMG B/R if Jack's skill roll isn't enough.
BishopMcQ
Sep 15 2004, 12:43 AM
Leowulf--You should have more than a pt of good karma, you get a point every calendar week as long as you post. As for the gun, it was a base of 11 and each retry raises the TN.
Fenris--you're roll was sufficient.
Leowulf
Sep 15 2004, 12:32 PM
I was afraid of the TN being raised. Guess it's just an impossible task for Biomage. That's guaranteed to piss him off.
A point for every week? I'll have to add that up.
Thanks for the assistance, Fenris.

Trixie is going to post all the data they found out about the chip, including a few pictures she took with her P-Sec. She's going to foward the info to Captian Chaos, so he can submit it without her name on it. She'll ID herself to him, cause he may just know her name from stuff that happened inside the Arcology. I'll give you a computer roll to erase her trails.

Happy Monday everyone. McQuillan, I'm gunna have Trixie dumpshock herself, just yank the cord. If that would take another willpower check, just say the word and I'll edit if need be. I'm also assuming that because I use actions as if I was in my meat body, that I may be touching something akin to UV here, so I'll just give you a Willpower check to resist the damage and you can tell me how much I take.

I'm okay with the group as it is. I think we can handle it

Or, rather, I don't think dragging one more poor soul to his impending doom would save any of us.
