uh, unless you're giving beer to 12 year-old anemic girls, there's no way two beers should knock anybody out. unless by "beer" you mean "gin", in which case, okay. as for the other part, you can probably just handle that under the tolerance rules. give it an Edge rating of 100 or so, so that every 100 beers, your tolerance goes up. |
Sadly, no. I know people like this. They just can't take alcohol at all.

that's just not normal, man. you need to get them to a hospital, right now, and find out what's wrong with them.
they might be aliens in disguise. you should seriously consider this possibility.

Chances are (in geeky game terms) that they have a Flaw rather than representing the norm.

either that, or you're drinking some hellacious beer. i seriously can't imagine anybody passing out from two bottles of Bud Ice.

As a homerule in my games, for every (Body Rating) drinks a character has had, they get +1 to all difficulties, and 1 point of pain resistance. So, for an average Joe (Body 3), every 3 drinks does it. At 9, the character's as impaired as if he was seriously wounded, and able to ignore a moderate wound. Hardly perfect, but it does the job.

Alcohol Intolerance -1/-2
People with this flaw simply can not hold their liquor. For the -1 flaw, the [choose one: damage code / TN penalty] of the alcohol they consume is [one level higher than / twice as great as] it would be for a normal person. The -2 flaw is the same as the -1, except every drink the person consumes actually counts as two drinks for the purpose of calculating the[damage code / TN penalty].

Yeah, but these are the drugs the corps rejected because they were too destructive. That's why they ended up on the streets. The ones they use are called NERPS and are apparently 100% addictive and can keep you alive until you die.

Every drug I know keeps you alive until you die!

Personally i like the Speed 1 hour, Burst Fire rule.
I'd also bring in some kind of tolerance as well to act as "armour"
Me, depending on what i drink, is how much i can take.
Empty Stomach, 2 Pints and im getting drunk (+2 Tn's), Eaten something that would go upto maybe 6 Pints.
Now much choice of drink. 2 Double Vodka's , pint glass the rest as Irn Bru (thats a soft drink to you none English/Scotish People) 4 of those in 2 hours and im the same state of drunkness, but with a major case of the giggles as well.
So IMHO Tolerance should be a factor.

tolerance is a factor. that's what the Edge rating is for. alcohol should have an edge rating of 50-100, assuming that 1 beer = 1 dose. that way, every 50-100 bears you drink, you end up having to drink 1 more beer to get the same effect.
like this. i drink 100 beers over the course of a month. next month, when i start drinking, i suddenly have to drink 2 beers in order to get the effect of 1 beer.

And within the span of five years of your life you have to drink 60 beers to equal a single one. Assuming your not already dead due to the rest of the Addiction rules since even if you make the Addiction Code 2M or 2P, it's still going to increase astronomically within a couple of months.

Rules for alcohol effects are just to variable in RL, the following have major impacts
1) Ancestry (European/Asian - Beer or tea culture, europeans have actually evolved to cope with alcohol)
2) Liver Function
3) Stomach contents (Food only delays the processing of alcohol)
4) Gender (Testostorone is massively increased in women and slightly decreased in men)
5) Synapse Function
A few people can be so tolerant of alcohol that they are poisoned before they are noticably drunk.
In SR fudge it. An female oriental-heritage nymph just isn't comparible to a male hard-drinking chav troll, BOD aside.
