This will mark my first attempt at GMing online. I usually GM offline, but my group meets so infrequently I need to get my shadowrun on in the mean time.
With that said I'm looking for a group of four to five runners who can handle themselves in or on a vehicle, that does not nessicarily mean rigger as there will be no real use that I can forsee for drones(but that doesn't mean don't be a rigger). I would like to have unique characters not your standard angsty street sam with a bike skill. I'd like one page minimum background, even if its those questions in the companion.
The Nitty Gritty
125 points
starting character(unless you think one of your low charma characters would fit the bill well)
I have hard copies of the Corebook, Cannon companion, and the shadowrun companion, but I have easy access to MITS, MM, R3, SOTA 2063, and YOTC, if you want stuff in the other books just send me the stats and any other rules that apply to it. Also it might be a good idea for one of you to have a lonestar contact.
Sorry no rays guns, but if you want to make a custom gun via the rules in CC then send it to me before you buy it(same goes for vehicles from R3)
send your character sheet and full bio to
Genomepanda@phreaker.net
and post here a brief concept/description so you all can get to know each others PCs better
oh one last thing ngsrc does not work on my computer so send it text or html, thanks

Can you explain a little more what you mean by "handle themselves in or on a vehicle" so we know a little more what will fit what you are looking for?
Kiedo
Feb 23 2005, 06:04 AM
Well there are several was you can approach the apotheosis of the run, and one of those methods is street racing (which might be the most fun). So it would be only natural that you have a decent skill in a vehicle and preferably a vehicle that could win a race. But that in itself is not a requirement, if you decide to play a character who would be compromised by having a vehicle skill then by all mean don't just tack one on. Like I said there are a few ways you can go about this run.
ps sorry for the confusion

Sounds interesting. I do have one character at hand, but with SURGE and all she ended up a wee bit too freaky perhaps. I'll see if I can cook something up and send it your way tonight.

Cultured is fine, I hadn't really looked at it before, cause I never really get to be a PC but there is some pretty cool and incredibly useful stuff there. So yeah cultured is cool by me.
On another note,
SURGE is welcomed too. Some of the funniest PC's I've encountered have been surged to bejesus and back(dual natured, non awakened, the bone thing, and scales 2, with enough positives to equal zero), and once actually took a break from a run to shed. It was funny as hell.
he got bonus karma for that one.I hope to get this run off the ground as soon as I get five PCs submited and judging from the fact I posted this about six hours ago and I've already got two potential pcs this might get up and running(no pun... wait yes pun intended) before the end of the week.
[edit] also since this is my first time GMing online this might be a good newbie run for those of you who were looking to "hit the scene" without worrying about stepping on anyones toes. [/edit]

I'll see if I can get a guy for you also. Rigging happens to be one of my favorite aspects of the game, so I'd enjoy a racing based game quite a lot. Too bad the ferrari open-wheel racer has such a high availability.

Hmm... I suppose I could submit snakeeyes (SURGEd the old fashoined way with die rolls and ended up with scales, fangs, poison resistance and poison glands).... But like I said, she were sort of freaky.

How 'serious' is this? I have a few concepts banging around, some more realistic then others.

Well, if there's still space I'd love to do a combat biker style character (I was actually thinking something based on combt biker/urban brawl could make a really cool game the other day...), using either the Thundercloud Pinto or Yamaha Aurora as his vehicle of choice, and probably specialising in compact firepower (pistols, SMG's, maybe shotguns)
Are meta-variants allowed? If so I might go for a Night Ones, otherwise I'll probably just try do a normal elf. The only downside is I can't really start anything 'till Saturday, so it'll be in Sunday/Monday, is that ok? (the joy of maths exams)

Lindt: It should be fun and as serious(or not for that matter) as everyone wants it to be.
Everyone: I'm pretty laxed GM in what I'll allow so unless I have said its not asume its okay(so long as it follows the rules). Metavariants are fine so are ghouls for that matter and shapeshifters.
Nightcrawler: Sounds good send it my way, well get started as soon as it's good for everybody
Ecclesiastes: feel free to make custom vehicles or weapons just send them to me for an okay.
Aes: A bike or a car what ever you feel comfortable with. I will say this anyone, with one main exception, you would be racing in the begining would be in a stock or slightly modified fairly quick vehicle. But as I said you don't have to race its probably just the most fun way.
I have two characters in my inbox and both of them look good. I've heard several good concepts too just waiting to see them in my inbox.

Well, my current concept is an ex Lone Star/KE/Mech. Inf. outrider on a slightly modified bike, though I'd
really appreciate some help with modifying it, as I'm not sure how to (I'm currently thinking runflat tires, an armoured bucket seat (if it can mount one), and then probably improved handling & nitrous/turbo-charging).
I'll probably be playing an Elf (damn D&D *mutter*), but I'm not certain yet.
And remember:

My character is coming along nicely. I'll prolly have some 150-200k set aside for a vehicle. Character sheet should be on its way within an hour or two ("#%¤#"ing mail server). The very basics is a rockstar-personality ex-Le-Mans racecar driver. Female, Night ones.
She'll likely be saying: "It is I, LeClerc!" a lot too.
If anyone knows where THAT quote is from, they can have the cookie Nightcrawler owes me.

As it says in the OP, pretty much anything is fine, but they should know how to handle a vehicle.

Sandoval Smith: Sebastian is excellent, exactly the type pf runner I'm looking for; Good background and Character.
Tarantula + Ecclesiastes: So far I've gotten three characters so you guys should still be able to make it by monday(or sunday). My initial estimates for when we would start were a bit... hasty
Nightcrawler: Email me what specifically your having trouble with and I'll help you out.
Ecclesiastes: Sounds fun
Nikoli: actually that wouldn't be a bad idea send it my way
Everyone: Since tarantula and Ecclesiastes have arosed concerns about getting a character in on time, I will do this: Wensday, March 2 is the last day to submit your character. I'm pretty flexible so if you don't feel you can make it by then pm or email me and if I still have a spot open I'll hold it for you. Also If I get six really really good characters I think that would still fit the run alright. so even if I post saying I've got five and you think yours is really really good send it my way.
To avoid confusion the characters I have are:
Accepted
Sebatian St. John - Sandoval Smith
Recieved but Pending
Johnny the Bull - Slipshade (you still haven't send you bio info, otherwise all I have are numbers on a page. they are good numbers though.)

Feb 25 2005, 09:42 AM
If you want to make a custom vehicle go for it but, I will agree it is alot of work for something that you might never need again for another run. But, I think, based on the vehicles the PC's I've already got have, a custom setup for an NPC would be overkill. But, and I forgot to mention this from the onset, I do have a few custom vehicles of my own that are availible for purchase. If anyone is interested email me and I'll send them to you. They are far too powerful for NPCs to have and, although I did design some of them with this run in mind, I don't think that just your average go ganger would have them (but if one of YOU did...).
I've got two bikes (I'm not too sure about their strict rule friendliness), two cars, two sail boats of all things (one was made for a bounty hunter character I was going to play but never got the chance and the other only a very very very wealthy person could have), a jetski, and a scooter(don't mock it it's fast.. for a scooter).

I'll have to grab the paper copy of rigger 3 we store at campus tonight to finish the car. By the way - This racing our characters have gotten themselves involved in, is it pure a-to-b in a hurry racing, or should my character have factored in weapons for her vehicle?
And how detailed descriptions do you want for contact/buddy NPCs?
[Edit]
Oh, and I'd love to have a look at the custom cars you've already got. For inspiration, if nothing else. You already have my email.
Kiedo
Feb 25 2005, 10:34 AM
The racing would be mostly a to b, but a vehicle weapon or just a person weapon is a very good idea, it will become more clear as to the reason once the run comences.
The way I see it is if you make a "living breathing" contact thats great, I might add a snippet or two to make them "fit" better, but flesh them out as much or as little as you want. If you don't flesh them out much and just put say:
lv.1 fixer
then before we start up, I'll send you a fleshed out copy so there will be no "suprises".
I'll will send you the vehicles before I go to bed.

Not knowing the type of racing makes it hard to adjust indeed. I'm working on a car built for speed, myself. Currently in the cusotmization phase, debating wether or not to add armor.
So far, the vehicle is a sports car that runs on jet turbines, with insanely low handling, enough speed to outrun jet planes and enough acceleration to mash normal mortals to goo through sheer G-forces.

Yes, so adding APPS, crash cages, and roll bars make it a pretty damm safe machine. Even at the speed a turbine fired sports car can do.
Just remember, the base price cant exceed ¥160k, as thats the point where you pass an avil of 8.

Just sent a design in. I take it the 160k limit is at the end of the design proces, not th ecustomization proces, yes?
Ended up with somehting very close to 160k
at the end of the design proces, but customization boosed it to ~250k
Forgot to factor in roll bars, but ah well. They're 0 DP during the design and I suppose a LeMans racecar would have them. Would it be bad form to post what I got so far in spoiler tags so people could point out everything I did wrong during the design/customization proces?
[Edit]
Ah yes, I have car B/R at 3 as well. Haven't invested in a shop yet. But depending on the fine print (IE: Wether we're cooperating or competing and wether the GM tells me my car design is FUBAR), I might have a little extra nuyen to toss your way towards a vehicle shop.
