Most likely the keys then -- it's a prank, not intended seriously or to harm as such,
Steve knows from (annoyed) experience that the item will be returned when it's missed. We can probably work this out ourselves, see if the theft is noticed: opposed roll Perception
vs. Stealth, nothing to lower TN on my side?
[ Spoiler ]
Stealth: 13, 3, 2 (!)
Cheating: 10, 3, 1 (probably not sufficient for an extra success)
Your choice as to whether we add in the spirit's Concealment power to the Perception TN, considering they're acting as a tag-team.
(And we wonder why I gave
Kai a minor "Bad Reputation" (thief)
)

Good news real life is allowing me a little more time and seeing that this game moves along at a bit of a slower pace I will be able to join again if everyone thinks that would be ok. Let me know how you guys feel about it.

OK, if I understand the rules correctly (maybe) I roll three die for Steve's Intelligence, against a base TN of 4. I also would give a +2 for being distracted. (swarmed)
Unmodified die rolls:
1, 1, 4.
Gak, one of my 'death dice' from that other game.
I guess Kai gets the keys.
BUT NOT MY PERMISSION TO DRIVE!!!

Not to worry, THAT die is now back with its oddly-shaped brethern, in the former Crown Royal bag. I've borrowed one from the backgammon set - not the white ones, those are best reserved for Acey-Deucey.
FYI - IC post - car is two blocks west, green Honda-GM 3220 Turbo, Kai's seen it before.
@Slipshade
Please do join us if you can. Steve will need someone to hold Kai down.

Besides, what would he want with your car? He's got a very reliable and probably expensive skateboard -- and he's off towards your restaurant, just as soon as he can get the word to the others clear of The Suit
Come to think of it, your signature is suddenly very (uncomfortably) apt.

Then you should know that one of MY favorite lines from “Heavy Metal” is:
[ Spoiler ]
…Hangin’s too GOOD for ‘em…Burnin’s too GOOD for ‘em – He should be torn into little, itsy-bitsy pieces, and BURIED ALIVE…
But that’s just me, and in fun – Steve’s not me, and I’ll try to play him the way he is. (But, I don’t carry anything in my back pants pockets either)

Now that we've both clarified that this is just in fun, I guess we're just waiting for

I hope DH will give us the 411 on the job, everything the charming and eloquent Mr. J could squeeze out of the contact, in one lump sum.
I'll post a flavor message tomorrow, but nobody needs to wait on me.
The kitchen and tables at Seoul Food are a public secret. It's not licenced by the board of health.
Unless DH wants to take over Seoul Food I'll play it - you guys can cue off of me. It's dingy-looking, smells funny to westerners, and Korean is the primary language. Unless your char can read Hangul don't ask for a menu.

I'm sure that with DH being at sea and the game moving slowly there should be no problems. I'd guess that you'd want to make the planning session at Seoul Food?

I'm okay with the choices made. I'm a bit sporadic myself, these days until mid-June (every two or three days), but on this thread it doesn't seem to show.
I'd thought you were done with the negotiations too, Bastard. Oh well, just figure that
Kai wouldn't have approached him until after he's clear of the negotiations, work it from there. We seem to be flexible, and DH will hopefully give us all the details in a single major post when he's next at an on-line computer.

May 27 2005, 08:19 PM
@Slip & Sedna – a few clarifications; I base my view of Seoul Food on my RL favorite place to eat genuine Korean food – a little Korean grocery that just happens to have a kitchen in the back. I’m the only round-eye that I’ve ever seen in the place, and if I hadn’t learned a little Korean I probably wouldn’t get any kind of service. That said, some info for your characters –
Kai would have gotten steamed rice, a generous portion, some
Kim-Chee, possibly some rice cake (not the type we think of in America) and other side vegetables.
Glide, depending on how well she was understood, would have received
Dac-Go-Gi (grilled chicken, mild to moderately spicy) or
Tang Soo Yok. (a sweet and sour chicken type dish, although the sauce is a clear, light-orange) For
Kai – the
Kim-Chee is most likely the spiciest thing on the table, and the tea would be hot, green tea. Hangul is the Korean alphabet. Although he didn’t order it, if he had he probably would have received
Jun-Gol (soup), of whatever they had ready as the ‘soup of the day’.
Which would be very funny if there were a Korean equivalent of alphabet soup
– but that’s not the point right now.
For all: Our characters are rather spread-out now, both in place and time. One thought is to skip ahead to the planning phase at Seoul Food, although that might require DH to post so we know more about what we are planning. Another thought is to continue playing where and when our characters are, until DH pulls us together.
Votes for either of these; or other opinions/suggestions/options?
Slipshade
May 27 2005, 08:26 PM
Thomas - I have a little Korean BBQ place near my work so what I was describing was Tang Soo Yok. Just a little spicy, but I thought I would just play off of Sedna's reaction. It was fun so I went with it.
Sedna - I am heading out on vacation so our characters may just have to eat quietly until everyone else arrives.
Thomas, I say just RP the arrivals for a bit until Sedna, DH and Myself can get back to posting.

Thomas: exactly
It's all generic "Korean" to him -- and it's Korean only because it's been identified as such by
Steve. After all, it's not like
Kai actually knows the difference between bul-go-gi, jap-chae, or gal-bi; or would have discovered before now that there are several different types of kim chee. (Since he obviously hasn't discovered the hot varieties yet, I leave that in your capable hands
) He knows steamed rice (pretty universal and universally cheap), noodles, veggies of various denominations, and meat that's similarly various -- but it's all food.
(My local Korean restaurant-with-high-loyalty-factor just had a fire yesterday, fortunately minor enough not to close the business for more than a couple of days ... we hope.)
I promise you he didn't order the rice as "Hangul". That was an attempt at multiculturalising Cityspeak, using a single label to describe all things of that ethnicity, that obviously fell flat.
Eating quietly, with NPCing by all and sundry as necessary. Probably said/done too much already
Enjoy your vacation, Slipshade

< bump >
@Sedna - sorry, didn't mean to be thick-headed - that is a good use of CitySpeak.
Steve, being a security type of guy, will be most interested in the security set-up of the warehouse. Questions he would want answered are; is the security handled in-house or contracted; if contracted, to whom; are there any security personnel or does the warehouse rely strictly on sensors; if manned, are the guards armed or un-armed, or perhaps both; does the warehouse store goods from only one company or several?
DH will give us a rundown (I hope), so these questions might be answered then.
Of course, since we’ve done so much without GM interference, we could just declare our first run a smashing success – netting us a big bonus and the lead for the next job!

Thomas has nothing against

Steve has no IC knowledge (yet) -
Steve won't be able to know anything until he gets back to his locker and finds his keys.
I figure he'll be pissed because he's spent 500 - 600

Well Bastard, it seems all the players have weighed-in.
In the interests of continuity perhaps Mr. Johnson could tell Kai and Glide what the J said at Ming’s. That should bring all the players up to speed and allow you to set-up the conditions for the run – then we can get on with the planning/legwork.
