well If anyone has room for a 58 meg file...and wants to hook up with me some how for it, I do have almost all of the Srun4 disscusion from Origins on my system at home... the file is 58 meg unpacked, 49 meg in ZIP.... if anyone has any other method of making it smaller I would take whatever help I can get. I'm hoping to get this all out to you so you can hear what we did at the seminar...since I haven't heard more about the podcast...

feel free to hit me up via email or PM

You may want to PM both Adam and Neuron Basher to see if they want to host it on Dumpshock for you.

Not of this World
Hmm, also volunteering.
Caine Hazen
I've sent the file out...or am in the process of sending the file out to a few folks. Big thanks to St James for showing me how ta do this the right way... if anyone has news of getting it online and hosted...post it here or start a new thread... hopefully the rest of you can see my shottly take images of people from FanPro....though Adam looks all cute in his little way on there...LOL

Like I said...not the best..but I think you can hear most everything that was said in this part...and you can hear most of the Q&A..when we're not laughing to loud..the podcast will sound a bit better
Kagetenshi
Uploading now, will update when file transfers completely.

Is it going up as a straight dl, torrent or other?
Kagetenshi
Straight download of a zipped movie.

<Edit: link and file removed, see below>

Thanks for hosting it, Kage.
Caine Hazen
Thanks Kage...lemme know if you get too crushed, I can always pass this on to a few other folks

I'll also post this over on the other thread
Kagetenshi
Video pulled at request of those taped. I would extract the audio and post that, but Adam said he already had similar plans.

~J
the_dunner
Thanks both for taping and posting it. I understand that the circumstances under which is was recorded rather limited both the sound and video quality, but I'd still guess that those would be the primary reasons that it was pulled.

I was at the con, but I missed the seminar. (I was actually running an SR4 demo at the time.)

As far as info content goes -- there really wasn't anything revealed that hasn't been mentioned elsewhere. Primarily in the Origins info threads.
SL James
I don't recall them saying that Intiative is Reaction + Intuition, though. Or that sprites will be organized similarly to spirits, and that Technomancers will suffer "drain" (his words) for some actions. But they will be able to hack drones, too, which I think was understood but I'm not going to assume that.

Max, max pool with all mods is 24. Skills top out at 6 (7 with the right "qualities." Edges & Flaws are now "qualities).

Yep, I recorded the seminar on my iPod and Adam is now in possession of the file, which he says he'll post soon. I'm guessing it'll probably be somewhere in the 18-20 MB range, size-wise.
Casper
Wheres the link to the file? Kage said that it was posted here but theres no link what so ever.

Kagetenshi
It was edited out to avoid leaving a dead link when I pulled the video off of the server.

~J
Casper
Oh sorry. There isn't a edit modification notice.
Kagetenshi
Edited the post again to clear up confusion for future travelers, as that's a good point.

The audio has been posted on the official site now.

its another audio...

the video audio is still missing...

hmm, novatech, winternight and deus in system failure, nice...

I knew it was going to be Novatech! biggrin.gif

The official Podcast version is Audio Only. It's a seperate recording from Caine Hazen's. Several of the freelancers who were present are wanted fugitive's, and didn't want their faces shown publically.

About time the devs used and discarded that plot device ... he was really starting to become nothing more than a comical figure.

and synners right, there are a lot more interesting tidbits in that file wink.gif

Yeah. like no mention of SoLA in the release scedule ... sarcastic.gif

But a character dossier? Yay. Prime runners was so damn useful after all. sarcastic.gif

- Introductory adventure is nice though, I imagine it'll be good for both switching 3rd ed characters as well as good to sart out new chars. smile.gif

- New "SSB" called Runner havens - Seattle in detail and several other settings in somewhat less detail? Duh. But at least a more international take on the sR world. Seattle isn't the gravity point of that universe any more. Well, I call this a good start. No info on what precisely the settings are gonna be. smile.gif

- Street Magic is NOT the first book sceduled to come out.

- Apart from SM, only three more books - Gear ("Arsenal"), Implants ("Augmentation") and Matrix ("Unwired") - will be considered core rulebooks. Well, that's something. smile.gif

Correction: Seattle and another sprawl in detail, several others to follow.

Ah, must've misunderstood that, then. smile.gif

*hopes hopes hopes the other sprawl is NOT in Germany*

Hong Kong or Tokyo would be DAMN cool.

Somehow I think they're talking about an über character sheet, rather than a Prime Runners v2.

Oh good lord, SR4 has gone the path of convergence.

QUOTE (Rob)
Everyone carries a commlink, which is basically your PDA, cellphone, iPod, camera, all rolled into one… but it's smaller.

DNI would make this a non-horrible solution, but Rob said that people would have the option of using this without being directly plugged in.

~J
hobgoblin
he allso stated that the wireless parts could be turned of, for the loss of some benifits. so it seems the paranoid sammie can still have his wired smartlink after all...
hermit

Yeah. He went on to say that they could also use googles or contacts. I fail to see how that is so really damn horrible.
hobgoblin
basicly that a lot of devices in a small space makes for a lot of horrible devices wink.gif
hermit
I still don't get either how this is convergence or how this makes the setting even more broken in Kagetenshi's eyes ...
Kagetenshi
Doesn't make the setting more broken, convergence (despite being a horrible idea) is happening today. I had just had some hope that the Shadowrun universe might be spared that idiocy.

Goggles and contacts aren't input methods.

Ah, okay, now I see where you're going. Just didn't know the term.

And yes, it IS a horribly stupid idea, but it's being done IRL, and they want to keep SR up to date with current SOTA, so I guess they had little choice.
Nerbert
Also, since it is a game, convergent devices don't have to suck.
Taki
Convergence is mostly a good Idea to me.
Why a screen for 15 devices (including domotic application) ? Why sound amplification for both as well ? One sound amplification is enough for one room, and it is more resilient if you buy a quality one than 5 shitty device - for music, tv, computer ...
If it is done well, convergence partly means specialization, and partly generalization has to be done through common specification.

Convergence can mean LESS devices, and more specialised. Of course to use them you need cable or any possible transmission mean (wifi is probably a bad one since you have already cable for electricity joining them...)
hobgoblin
so lets say that the main unit have all these features. most of them are software. some of them are hardware. what if they are made detachable?

so that say you detach your camera from your comlink so that you dont have to wave around the entire comlink just to take a picture.

hell, maybe a secondary camera could be attached to your googles so that you can take a picture of whatever you see?

as for input, most pda's today have a "large" touch sensitive front that with the right software can be anything. and those palms and blackberrys with 2-thumb keyboards seems to be quite popular.

i realy dont see the problem. that is unless you prefer a specialized device for everything. still, given that the latest cellphone cameras have automatic focus and other features to help with picture quality and the rez is in the area of a home user party cam i dont think there is a problem.

and if you want outside input for your device. take a look at the latest bluetooth keyboards or even the bluetooth frogpad (search for it) and you should be all set.
JongWK
By the way, did anyone take pictures at Origins? If so, I'd like to see the con with my own eyes (me being in Uruguay and all that... wink.gif).

Thanks!

I would define that saying you have two camera or just one, with convergence that make them pluggable with comlink/goggle.

For PDA, wifi is surely making sense. In my vision of "what should be", PDA would be a independent device outside the LAN of your home. When you are in, PDA should automatically synchronize with your data bank and become a simple terminal and universal input device (remote control with vocal etc ...).

Of course for security information (ie not for public purpose) This could be less simple.
Wireknight
The real problem I have with the idea of the comlink is the nomenclature. It's not named "infolink", or "datalink", but is instead named "comlink". What prior referred to a radio communication device now refers to what is essentially a PDA with WLAN capabilities. It'll get confusing unless people start going back to calling the radio devices "transceivers" or something equally bulky and uncool-sounding.
hermit
how about calling them "radio" or "transmitter" or something like that?

Or maybe the ComLink also supports encrypted radio capacities, who knows? wink.gif

Well, yeah, they'll obviously have to be called something else ("transmitter" is a bit of a misnomer, since they are both transmitters and receivers, hence the term "transceiver"). I just question the wisdom of naming them the exact same thing. As far as using a comlink(new) in the role of a comlink(old/existent, though I did always spell it "commlink"), my signature character already does that via a wirelessly Matrix-linked PAN and a smart frame called "Ma Bell" that routes and secures global communications for individuals associated with its creator. If the new comlink doesn't support that sort of thing, then it's houserule time.
