It may take you a while to find a game. Prepare you character just like you would for P&P. I would prepare a base character now that you can modify when a game pops up. Good luck, chummer!

UCAS SIN. Classic tall dark and handsome, dresses extremely well. Johnny is an Ex-Johnson for Renraku, after the Arcology Shutdown, he was let go. Thinking he would quickly land on his feet, instead it seemed nobody wanted an ex-Renraku employee who was associated with the Shutdown. His resume was very bland, as he obviously couldn't go into great detail about how he was a Renraku Mr. Johnson who met with shadowrunners to set up corporate espionage. Finding employment through previous contacts in the shadow world, he stopped looking for legal work, though if it presented itself, he would gladly rejoin the wage slave world, where he was a mid-upper level exec. Background[IC] [ Spoiler ] Errr-errr-errr-errr-errr! Slam! The buzzer is silent after the alarm clock slams into the wall. I didn't used to hate getting up in the morning. I used to be up at five am, ready to face the day, but then again, I used to have a job I loved. It didn't hurt that instead of a cheap alarm clock, I had a sweet voice calling me for a wake up call. Every morning as I get ready for "work" I think back to where my life went wrong. Straight out of college I got a spot on the Renraku staff. The sky was the limit, as I quickly moved up the ladder, finally landing the job as Mr. Johnson, for all of your shadowy corporate needs. My actual title was VP of Contract Personnel and Operations (CPO). How did I screw up this gig? As Mr. Johnson, I was trained to always screw over the shadowrunners, for various reasons, but mainly it kept the distance between the two entities. This I didn't agree with. I found the better I treated my contacts, face to face at least, the better they did their job, and the more extras the company got. Life was good, I had a regular team, plus a good fixer ready to set me up with anything my heart desired at the drop of a hat. Oh how things have changed. I was the "golden child" of Renraku's Arcology. Highly praised by my superiors, highly idolized by my inferiors, which probably led to my current state of life. Setting up the shadows for over six years is a long time in my biz; Usually Johnsons are rotated out, if they aren't geeked first, every year or two. That way the company can protect it's assets, not having the same Johnson gives it a bit more of ambiguity. But I was the best they ever had, my success rate was well above 95 percent, while my predecessors before never acquired above 60. Maybe things would have been different if I took one of those boring paper pusher jobs, but I loved the thrill of the shadows, and getting to step into their world a bit. Now that I am here, I'm not so sure I didn't get what I wished for, you know that old saying. Instead I became one of the many scapegoats for the Arcology Shutdown, and was quickly dismissed and black-listed. I was only loosely tied to the Arcology, but Renraku wanted to cut all ties, no matter how remote. I understand that part, and I understand not wanting me working for a competitor as a Mr. Johnson with all that I knew, but I would have thought for all that I had done for them, they could have found a place for me, even out of state, or out of country. I guess I should be happy they didn't just kill me. I know they have done that and worse. Ready for work I walk out to the garage of the Esprit Industries Corporate Housing to grab my bike. No, not a motorcycle, an actual bicycle, only missing handlebar streamers. It is the one parked next to the old rusty Ford Americar, and yes, that is mine, too. I used to have a classic Westwind, and a fully loaded Escalade. Now I own this POD that backfires between gears. I feel my face turn red and my fists clench as anger rushes over my body. I shake it off, as much as I can. At least I kept this nice apartment. I used to have a luxury pad, high up in the Arcology, plus a small house right on the Pacific, and a vacation home in California. Those are all gone, but since this one was under an alias and I had no ties to it, and Renraku hopefully knows nothing about. I thankfully have a nice place to lay my head. It was originally a place I used to set up high profile meets, and of course I moved buildings since the career change, just to be sure. Granted, I lost the majority of my contacts, almost all of my corporate ones, but an enemy of Renraku stay does wonders to your street cred. I haven't broke it big yet, but I have only been running the shadows a couple of months. Once I get them down, maybe I can move onto some bigger jobs, then move onto one of those that earn you enough nuyen to buy a small island. I know they are out there. Dresses casually and functionally, so she is always ready for long hours or gun play. She is loyal to her friends, wants to help and protect they people of Chicago, and take the city back from bugs and criminals. Background [ Spoiler ] Kristina Kahless spent several years working for Knight Errant as a patrol officer and a detective. She was promoted quickly and a model officer by all means. However, during the apprehension of a suspect, an innocent kid died when a stray bullet from the perpetrator struck him in the head. She blamed herself, even when initial inspection into the case found her of no wrong doing and only facing a weeks paid suspension. She still felt guilty and was afraid a full investigation might prove her fears to be true. She resigned shortly after, and began work as a private investigator. For a short time Kris worked with Dick's Investigations, before going into business with a friend as PIs. During that time Kris started taking side jobs doing bounty hunting, and several other odd jobs. Slowly she built a name for herself, and when her work started to go deeper into the shadows she took on the persona of Karmakaze. While she hasn't quit the PI business, most of her work comes through other means as a shadowrunner, where she can use her skills as a private investigator, police detective, bounty hunter and now mercenary, to find people or "merchandise". Karmakaze hadn't planned on being a shadowrunner, but her line of work brought her in contact with them often. She quickly realized how much of an advantage the magical and cyber augmented actually had. She closed out her KE retirement account and pooled it with her life savings to have her first cyberware installed. The wired reflexes were only installed a short time ago, and she finds herself still jumpy, but the plan is still to continue to install more "upgrades" before beginning to save up again. Her goal is to be self reliant and become a reputable private investigator, going after major criminals, rather than following up on insurance and worker's compensation claims. Thomas J. Booker - Lone Star Police Detective - Connection 4 / Loyalty 2 Lt. Booker was Kris's sergeant when she was a patrol officer, and her lieutenant when she became a detective. There was mutual admiration for each others work, and both advanced quickly through the ranks of Knight Errant. While Booker knows the reason for her resignation, he did not come to the same conclusion. He tried to talk in to staying, but she couldn't face her coworkers everyday, and didn't want the full story to come out in an official investigation, and chose to resign instead. When Lone Star took over in Chicago, Lt. Booker was able to transfer. The two are still close, and have a mutual beneficial professional relationship where Kris, no going by Karmakaze, can do things outside of the constraints of the law (or the willingness of Lone Star corporate), and Booker can provide evidence and information that may not be available to the public. Booker is a heavy set man, medium height and now into his late 30s. While dedicating his life with dealing with criminals, murder scenes, and a daily look into man's (and spirit's) worst, he still carries a happy-go-lucky attitude. (Jerry) Bradshaw - Private Investigator - Connection 3 / Loyalty 4 After leaving KE, Kris found work as a private investigator, working for a group called Dick's Investigations. With her detective background she quickly excelled, and soon left the firm to work privately with another PI, Bradshaw. The two focused on major crimes, and solved important murders and robberies, but soon found most of the work available or paying was insurance scams and infidelity cases. Soon Kris was board and left the firm, but her and Bradshaw remain close. Working with Bradshaw for several years, Kris never could figure out why he had left the police force, which worked out for her, since he never asked her why she left. They became good friends, spending time together at work, after work and even holidays together with Bradshaw's family. Bradshaw is in his 50s but still a force not to be messed with. While he usually doesn't rough up any of his targets, he rarely would require back up. He is quiet and friendly, until you cross him. He normally dresses in old suits, browns and subtle plaids. "Jaxx" - Fixer - Connection 3 / Loyalty 1 Jaxx is an annoying man, but it's a trait that Karma has learned to overlook. He is her connection to the shadow world; For gear, intel and now that she has turned runner, even work. While they met years ago, while Kris was still on the force, their relationship is purely professional, mainly due to Jaxx's social awkwardness. Jaxx is in his early 30s, slender, average height, and medium length hair. "Badger" Eric Jacoby - Bounty Hunter - Connection 2 / Loyalty 1 While working as a PI Kris met Badger, who she later did a little side work for. He claims the nickname came from the ferocity of the honey badger, but more likely it came from his resemblance to a weasel. Lifestyles & Vehicles [ Spoiler ] Small Apartment Low - 3 Comforts & Necessities, 3 Security, 3 Neighborhood There isn't much to Kris's pad. It is small, lightly furnished, and sparsely decorated, mostly with some keepsakes from her police days. She doesn't have any entertainment, not even a small tv or radio, instead relying on her bottom tier commlink, or going to one of the dive bars in the area. While the location isn't nice, it is in a safer area and security is good.

He went through the school system, not really shining in his academics but showed some aptitude with athletics. When he graduated High School and his father was set on pulling some strings to get him into a college, Markus went behind his back and joined the CAS military. While at first disappointed, his father made peace with the choice and focused more on his sister to be academia. While in the military Markus found a meaning that he could never find in school and threw himself into his training to make a name for himself. He caught the attention of some of his higher ups, shuffling some paperwork around to see him put into a Quick Reaction Force. There he developed more of a gung-ho type of personality, with him specializing more on forward scouting and motorcycle than being a grunt in Humvee. While on rotation, Markus would find himself being pushed to hotzones that needed intervention in CAS and also find himself being loaned out to other nations for a short period of time. This all came to an end when an rpg exploded nearby, the blast hitting his right side hard taking out his eye and part of his arm. He survived, needing to have them replaced and was medically discharged due to lingering pain and damage caused by the attack. At first his family tried to help him out, getting better gear put in to help, some procedures to alter nerves so he wasn't in as much pain, but eventually he left in the middle of the night being unable to allow his father to look at the scars and throw money into a bottomless pit. Early on though he was picked up cause of his natural talents by a small assassin ring wishing to continue their circle onto the next generation. Declan only stayed on the path of being an assassin due to the rush he got while doing a job and the accomplishments he felt when he was able to plan out the job with his talents and not relying heavily on others. While not opposed to working with a group, he does keep a close eye on all of them and is rumored, but never confirmed, to of killed a team member. Some of the rumors go they never saw eye to eye, others state that the member was a plant to make the job fail. No one truly knows except for Declan, the dead and the two others on that team and none of them seem to be talking about it.

Background [ Spoiler ] Kristina Kahless spent several years working for Lone Star as a patrol officer and a detective. She was promoted quickly and a model officer by all means. However, during the apprehension of a suspect, an innocent kid died when a stray bullet from the perpetrator struck him in the head. She blamed herself, even when initial inspection into the case found her of no wrong doing and only facing a weeks paid suspension. She still felt guilty and was afraid a full investigation might prove her fears to be true. She resigned shortly after, and began work as a private investigator. For a short time Kris worked with Dick's Investigations, before going into business with a friend as PIs. During that time Kris started taking side jobs doing bounty hunting, and several other odd jobs. Slowly she built a name for herself, and when her work started to go deeper into the shadows she took on the persona of Karmakaze. While she hasn't quit the PI business, most of her work comes through other means as a shadowrunner, where she can use her skills as a private investigator, police detective, bounty hunter and now mercenary, to find people or "merchandise". Karmakaze used to see shadowrunners as nothing more than sociopathic killers after easy money. After her career abruptly ended, Karma found herself working the same dark streets as them. She quickly realized how much of an advantage the magical and cyber augmented actually had, and how much of a disadvantage that she was out, no longer having a partner and the police force behind her. She closed out her LS retirement account and pooled it with her life savings to have her first cyberware installed. The wired reflexes were only installed a short time ago, and she finds herself still jumpy, but the plan is still to continue to install more "upgrades" before beginning to save up again. She never thought she would become a shadowrunner, it was never part of the plan. Funny how life works out. She finally understands who criminals end up criminals, but that doesn't mean that has to be her. Her goal is to be self reliant and become a reputable private investigator, going after major criminals, rather than following up on insurance and worker's compensation claims. With her detective background she quickly excelled, and soon left the firm to work privately with another PI, Bradshaw. The two focused on major crimes, and solved important murders and robberies, but soon found most of the work available or paying was insurance scams and infidelity cases. Soon Kris was board and left the firm, but her and Bradshaw remain close. Working with Bradshaw for several years, Kris never could figure out why he had left the police force, which worked out for her, since he never asked her why she left. They became good friends, spending time together at work, after work and even holidays together with Bradshaw's family. Bradshaw is in his 50s but still a force not to be messed with. While he usually doesn't rough up any of his targets, he rarely would require back up. He is quiet and friendly, until you cross him. He normally dresses in old suits, browns and subtle plaids. Lt. Thomas J. Booker - Lone Star Police Detective - Level 1 Lt. Booker was Kris's sergeant when she was a patrol officer, and her lieutenant when she became a detective. There was mutual admiration for each others work, and both advanced quickly through the ranks of Lone Star. While Booker knows the reason for her resignation, he did not come to the same conclusion. He tried to talk in to staying, but she couldn't face her coworkers everyday, and didn't want the full story to come out in an official investigation, and chose to resign instead. The two are still close, and have a mutual beneficial professional relationship where Kris, now going by Karmakaze, can do things outside of the constraints of the law (or the willingness of Lone Star corporate), and Booker can provide evidence and information that may not be available to the public. Booker is a heavy set man, medium height and now into his late 30s. While dedicating his life with dealing with criminals, murder scenes, and a daily look into man's (and spirit's) worst, he still carries a happy-go-lucky attitude. They are still working corporate wage slaves, making just enough to keep them thinking one day they can retire. They wanted more for Kris, more than a police officer, and are very disappointed that she couldn't even keep that job, and now working in a less than glorious job of private investigator, or as her mother says, wannabe police. Basic parents, not happy if you don't follow their plan. 3/Does your character have an ethnic background? Elvin. APPEARANCE 4/What does your character look like? As elves are, she is tall, standing at 6'5 feet and slender. Physically attractive, though very tomboy-ish, her ability to empathize with people, and her genuinity is what really makes her very charismatic. She keeps her dark brown hair shoulder length, functional and still able to be styled for nights out. Here eyes are light brown and hard to avoid once they catch your gaze. 5/What does your character dress like? Functional. Usually jeans or cargo pants, button up or t-shirts, and other clothes that can easily cover up her form-fit full-body armor. 6/What are your character's physical quirks? She always seemed twitchy before, head on swivel, looking around, but now with the new wired reflexes cyberware installed, she is jittery, jumps at any slight movement or sound. SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, RESOURCES 7/What did your character always want to be? Kris didn't always want to be a cop, but she knew she always wanted to make a difference and help people and society. Whether that was becoming an officer, a nurse, or a teacher. 8/Where and how did your character learn their Active and Knowledge Skills? The majority of her skills were learned from her training and employment as a Lone Star police officer. 9/Where and how did your character get their major equipment and ‘ware? Purchased using her savings and retirement after leaving the force. 10/Where and in what kind of place does your character live? She lives in an old house turned duplex near the industrial area of Auburn. 11/Who are your character’s contacts? See contacts. 12/Who are your character’s enemies? Journalists and activists who are always looking for a cop to blame. 13/For non-Awakened characters, how does your character feel about magic? She doesn't tell anyone, but it scares the drek out of her. She fully respects its power, but in her mind, it is like giving people nuclear power without any sort of regulation. PERSONALITY 14/What are your character’s personality quirks? Always looking to help people, while at the same time being very suspect of everyone. 15/What are your character’s likes and dislikes? Elves are supposed to be vegetarian, but who can turn down a street dog, street taco, or street burrito? You have not lived if you have not eaten the glorious food that is prepared in a modified RV. Kris cannot stand injustice. Not social injustice, but true injustice. Where the system or society has failed someone. 16/What is your character’s moral code? Help people. Serve and protect her community. 17/Does your character have any beliefs? If everyone tries to do good and help others, maybe they will convince others to do the same. Then others will join the cause, and the world will be a better place, even if it is microscopic. 18/What are your character’s personal motivations? To help others and make the world a better place. RUNNING THE SHADOWS 19/Why does your character run the shadows? It is the only way she can still make a living, and make a difference. 20/What would make your character leave the shadows? Reinstatement? A major event that changes her views? Kris is lost, and doesn't have a solution goal to repair the problems that lead her to the shadows in the first place? PERSONAL 21/ What would make you stop adventuring? See previous. 22/ What type of entertainment does the character like? Kris likes classic concerts: rock, metal, blues, country, jazz, etc... Anything that is real instruments and live performance. 28/ Does your character identify themselves with a specific group of people? Police. 29/ Describe the room where you sleep. Minimal, except the messy desk where all her police awards and "souvenirs" scattered unceremoniously across its surface and drawers. 30/ What actor would play this character in the movies? Why? Olivia Wilde. She is feminine, slender and has the ability to play strong and/or sexy. 31/ If you weren't shadowrunning, you'd be doing... what? In a previous life: a police officer. Now: there is really is no other option. 32/ What's your idea of getting "dressed up?" Dress, or nice shirt and pants, heels. The "normal" view of getting dressed up. 33/ Where were you when Dunkelzhan was assassinated? Wow... three years ago... Things were different. Very different. Kris, or Karmakaze, was still Detective Kahless. Looking to keep climbing the ladder, and continue to help people however she could. At the exact time and date, Karma was working and didn't even realize what had happened until the end of shift. EXPERIENCE 34/ What were your first impressions of your teammates?
