As sort of an add on to my question earlier about the fireball, how would you deal with a plate glass wall inside the area of effect, would it stop the fire or would fire come in to extistence on the far side because it is still in the line of sight?

Good question. I had to rethink a few times to make sure I liked my answer.

I'd say that the fireball would exist on both sides of the glass, and here's why: Since you can make it appear entirely on the other side of the glass anyway, bisecting transparent barriers wouldn't stop the spell effect. The glass itself would be subject to the fire, of course, in an overlap situation.

So basically it would work exactly like a Manaball except it would scorch the glass.

metaphysics, no matter how you look at it, it allways makes you head hurt...

It's been discussed before (http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?showtopic=10633), and we didn't really come to a consensus there either. Do what you want.

In the case of 'breaking through glass' you use the barrier rules in the book; both books take in consideration direct physical spells and indirect physical spells in barrier rating and potential damage results.

since it's glass, however, there is probably a fair chance the 'bubble' of fire will be enough to shatter it and continue on Otherwise it may certainly melt it a little if it's a high grade fireball (the sort that kills mages).

ANd being it's a PHYSICAL, indirect spell that creates a medium, the point of origin decides where the fire appears in the first place. I've always concluded a fireball, conveniently enough, starts out as a ball of fire that's hurled at the PoO, then combusts from there. There is no two-sides of the class in this case unless you're standing on the line in the first place (and aim at the edge of the glass)
