DV, while I'm thinking about it, I was rereading the rules concerning threading, and it doesn't say what type of action it is at all. Now I'm looking at the rules for using programs, which for most is a complex action, save a few otherwise noted ones. But I'm thinking that threading a complex form would either be a complex action, or a free action. So here's my ruling.
Threading complex forms
Free action.
on a glitch, takes a complex action
on a critical glitch, if threading a new form, you are unable to attempt to thread that form again until resonance+software (+ hot sim if applicable) combat turns.

I had to google odaijini, but thanks. I'm feeling much better, I've got solid food in my system (and it's staying there), so come this time tomorrow, I'll be right as rain (as my grand father says).
Yeah, I was going to say something run related, but I have forgotten it now, eh, it'll come to me.

Okay, I am going to go ahead and start our 8:00 meeting. I wasn't really sure if Rokur's May 19 10:48 am post meant he was sorry he hadn't gotten there YET, or if he meant to say he wasn't planning to make it because he was busy with (some mighty important, if you ask me) research.
On my end, I won't be able to post for about the next 36 hours, and I don't want people waiting for me. So Al will kick off the meeting with his research/ideas on insertion. I won't have him address Avenger directly, so it won't be weird either way, if Rokur decides he can make it or not.
Also very much looking forward to the conclusion of Gore's phone call to DIMR - don't mean to step on that - but I gotta get this posted or it'll be another day and a half.
Kiedo
May 20 2006, 04:45 PM
Well despite currently trying to hack your call, the DIMR did give you some good clues, though I will say this, one of them could be a dark pink fish.

Actually no, I just edited out what I just did, cause it struck me as a very bad idea. Impersonateing an officer of the Corperate court? hell no. Even if I have to make it, since I posted it before, I am not going to use it, delete it as soon as it is done.

May 20 2006, 05:41 PM
Ok, no need to spoof the hell out the the current call to the DIMR, there staff tech guy isn't good enoughto even merit me rolling dice. I was just trying to cut the conversation short before I revealed too much too early.
But yeah, 40 hits, damn, ok, you've got rock solid credentials. with 9 being the lowest threshold for pretty much anything, you've rolled for there. So who are you calling with all of that hardcore stuff?
Divine Virus
May 20 2006, 06:12 PM
Hmm... well, I was afraid that it would be discovered that it was a forgery, and then I would get caught, and then impersonating the Corperate Court is somthing that they would likely track me down for, since it is pretty damn serious... However I thought up a way around that. I think I can create ledal order, forbidding tech guy from speaking of the supena, to anyone, for a good 60 years. That should keep him from reporting it to his suppiors, or asking questions of the corperate court itself...
So. I will get rolling on that, but first I need to finish a PM I was working on. Cheers

Kiedo - torture the GM time!
As you know from my sheet - and as anyone can tell just by looking at Al, I have to be very careful about how much gear I carry around with me. I figure we'll have vehicles or horses most of the way, but just in case I need some rulings - in their zeal to streamline the rules, FanPro purposely dispensed with gear weights - but they didn't hesitate to list limitations on how much someone could carry! Nice Catch-22, that.
So, for my shotgun I am thinking about three kg. I used to handle them semi-professionally and they are surprisingly light. Hunting rifles I've hefted have felt a lot sturdier, so five kg? Again, I am only going by feel - I have no sense of these things.
For clothing and miscellaneous crap I am thinking one kg total.
Then the tricky stuff - survival kit and medkit.
I am thinking that these things will be made of advanced plastics and polymers and will be surprisingly lightweight. But there will nonetheless be medical things like medicines and bandages that weigh something, and the several days' food in the survival kit will certainly weigh a bit, even in protein bar form. I was thinking three kg each.
Finally, while I won't be hauling it around much with me, I will be taking an armorers' tool kit along. When I have cleaned guns, those kits have involved various oils and solvents, which are heavy, and then rods for cleaning barrels. But the full kit for SR must include some light clamps and other stuff needed for effecting actual repairs. Any thoughts you have on weight would be appreciated.
Now - scopes. This is a bitch in the RAW. pp. 308-9 list both my weapons as coming with imaging scope, but when I look up imaging scope on 311 it says they "can be upgraded with any of the vision enhancements noted on p. 323." Upgraded from what? Do they just come attached with a toy tube with plastic at both ends to make it look cool? Silly silly RAW.
What I would suggest is that the vision magnification be considered the standard, default enhancement that these scopes come with, and that they can be upgraded from that. But up to you. Please let me know so I can finalize my 'legal purchases at the sporting goods store' list.
Finally, Camouflage suit comes with 8/6 armor and costs Y1,200! Well, I am looking for just the freaking camo fatigues. I am figuring without any armor at all, the base price can't be over Y120. Let me know if that's okay (I will still be paying Y720 after I get level four insulation).
Okay, that's my gear questions. Hope you are feeling better.

DVThat's what can go wrong, lol. A run I did involving them actually caused that, and since everything that happens in my runs is permanent to my little world, you got the short end of the stick, sorry.
RokurThere are five active nodes, right outside the fire exit. One for a bailbonding place, a restaurant, a Seattle sponsored information kiosk, one with no discernable origin, and one from the star itself.
CogarKeys are mentioned in direct connection with the "big" artifact, I wrote all of those entries for, actually in them, I'm pretty sure.
also a particular passage sticks out in your mind from the Pnakotic Manuscripts:
[ Spoiler ]
"And they forged keys and an undefeatable lock, to conceal the tool of the great king. Cut from a stone, made from a leaf, and one designed as passage, were the keys of the great tomb."
Artifacts of power
There are the keys of Gorria, which grant the possesor the ablity to defeat any lock, but you can't really think of anything else.
AdamMan I went and picked up my browning 12 gauge (for "home defense", lol) and it's freakin heavy, the metric system gives me indigestion but I understand that a kilo is about 2.4 pounds, so I'd say mine is about 6.25 kg (of 15 pounds, it's got a 30 inch barrel). But I'm not going to nit pick, so I'm not really worried about weight. You could carry everything you've got and not be hindered, IMHO, since you've got a 990 some rounds a hunting knife, a commlink and now a rifle. Now a medkit and survival kit, that is tricky, I backpack somtimes and carry a tent, a change of clothes a good first aid kit, a revolver, a box of shells, a speed loader and at least ten days of food (even if the trip is only 2), and I have no trouble at all with it, so as long as you've got a backpack, I think you'll be fine. now you add a couple assault cannons and cases of ammo, then I'm going to step in.
As far as scopes go, I just assume they've got vision magnification and nothing else, so any of the other vision mods you could do would be kosher (well it's a gun, and not an uzi, so it's not "kosher" but it's cool with me).
Now your camo that's a thing I was wondering about too. I went down to the army surplus store and checked how much they sell regular camo for and to get pants, a shirt and a jacket it'd cost you about 100 bucks, now triple that if you want the sweet marine camo with the "digital" pattern. So just call it 300 nuyen for the camo, plus mods. Maybe I've got the perceptive edge from SR3, but regular camo doesn't make you much harder to see. Now that Marine stuff, it's scary how good that stuff works, I've got a buddy who plays paintball and has some, if he's in a wooded area and more that 15 feet away, you can only see his hands and head.

But I wanted to ask, the Dunkelzahn Institute for Magical Research is a sourcebook thing and very well know, as is it's Head Nadja Daviar (well she's technically head of the Draco Foundation, but still), so why wouldn't Sebastian know who Mrs. Daviar is?

I was planning on handling my legal shopping OOC later today. I won't specify whether you went with Al or not, so if you jump in later you can just list your own purchases.
As for the gel rounds, Al was not planning on going back to that fixer for anything for himself - money running low fast. So if you want Sebastian to come along to try and get those, just drop a line and I'll be sure and fit that in.

Kiedo - Al's (and Sebastian's???) first stop is the sporting goods store you recommended. Everything on the following list should be there, and all legal. I buy it and, FYI, have total remaining fundage of Y300. If Sebastian is with me, I will strongly encourage him to also pick up insulated camos (with or without armor) and a survival kit.
[ Spoiler ]
Survival kit
Flashlight
Winter Woodland Digital Camo Fatigues, night/day reversible, w/level 4 thermal insulation
Earbuds
Armorer tool kit
Big, waterproof backpack
Waterproof gun bag
Upgrade shotgun scope to add thermo and low-light (NO wifi crap - manual controls)
Just in case there's any question - the ONLY wireless capable stuff I own are my crappy commlink, the earbuds I just bought, which will be added to my PAN, and the GPS in my knife, which is always off unless I am using it.
Once that is all bought - should only take an hour or so, I hope - I cab it back to my place (dragging Seb with me if he's along) and pack my kit. EVERYTHING I will be taking is as follows:
[ Spoiler ]
Leather jacket and clothes, as detailed earlier.
In clothes - knife, zippo, cigs, commlink, earbuds (pocket or ears), chip from Jack (with maps; always in pocket, not in commlink, unless in use), pack of playing cards with classic cars on them, Y100 cert credstick, Y200 cash.
In pack - medkit, survival kit, flashlight, camo fatigues, spare set of clothes (same as worn, except instead of jeans it's olive khakis with cargo pockets), carton of Luckies, spare batteries for commlink/flashlight, playing cards with nude (or worse) Thai porn stars on them.
In gun bag - shotgun w/EX x 20 and buckshot (flechette) x 10, rifle w/ regular ammo x 20.
At this point, not encumbered.
Armorer's tool kit, in sort of a tackle box thing. With this, encumbered.
Case of Grolsch - can't carry this and everything else, but I WILL get it on the boat.
Once I am all packed, I will be off to see Flash, since I now definitely have to go to try and get Gore's shield. I don't know if that will go as smoothly as Al thinks, and if I can't get the shield from here I will ask Hun if he knows anyone, and from there my last resort is to go back to my own Dockyard Underworld specialization.
Barring some quick resolution ruling on that little scavenger hunt, I will plan on making an IC post, but am going to wait on that for a little while in RL just in case DV feels well enough to let me know if he's along for the ride or not.
FINAL QUESTION - the RAW says the scopes are easily removable. Are the mounts universal? I mean, are the scopes interchangeable? If so, cool cool cool. If not, could you give me the threshhold/interval for an armorer test to make them so? Thanks.

AdamI don't think you need to worry about getting it, it's the price your going to need to worry about (since gore is a troll, and 400

is the normal price).
As to your scope question, IRL if for whatever reason you decided to put a scope on your shotty (mine doesn't even have sights), it would only be a matter of time to change it out and put it on your rifle, provided you had the proper hardware installed on both firearms. Assuming that you do, we'll call it a Logic+Armorer (2), 1 IP extended test. That's just really to keep realism up since you'd be hard pressed to change scopes in the middle of a fire fight. If your not trying to do it in combat, or in a situation were time is important, you
do not need to roll for it.

Kiedo - thanks for the scope ruling. RAW says it's a simple action to remove or attach, but going from one weapon to another I wanted your approval. (I agree a scope on a shotgun seems a bit silly - in my experience you'd just end up cutting your face up with it - there are actually MANY things in the RAW that bespeak a heinous ingorance of firearms on the part of the FanPro staff. But a scope may come in handy, and I'll take it if I can get it.)
SOOOO - looks like Seb needs to get crap from his own homestead, so let's handle the logisitics this way - once finished with the sporting goods store, we can split up. He can go pack and bring all his gear to Al's place, since it's near the docks anyway.

[ Spoiler ]
Al will meet you out on the front stoop of a dilapidated apartment building on a bluff overlooking the international district. The entrance seems to be surrounded by Asian children of various ages, all chattering in some language not immediately recognizable as Chinese or Japanese or Korean. Al is apparently telling some elaborate tale to them when you arrive, one that apparently features a big scary explosion, as well as something with fearsome teeth. They are sad when Al cuts it short to take you inside to stow your gear. He leads you down a stairwell off the foyer, through a veritable maze of junkfilled corridors deep into the bowels of the tenement, and through a door that is sitting ajar into his room. It is only very sparsely furnished, and there are about six inches of standing water on the concrete floor. Al says to put your bags on the cot, where he has cleared a space amidst his stuff. You can see the the old moldy sofa is covered with Al's gear.
That leaves nowhere to sit down, but that is okay, since as soon as you put your stuff down, Al wants to "go see Flash."
Once everything is squared away at Al's place, we head to see Flash at Dock 27. So I will go to the IC from here. (You already have my glitched etiquette roll for Flash from just eight hours previous in game time!)

Hey ginger.. if you wanted patch to approach them that's cool... but I figured it would be easier to sit at a table and talk rather than at the bar.
PS - @ kiedo about the really familiar person... did you want us to roll any knowledge to find out who she is?

Kiedo,
Will you allow me to summon one elemental at home and then one on the boat en route?
by my reckoning if it takes 1 hour per force of the spirit to summon, and everyone is ready to go i dont want to delay the shindig so would you allow me to summon one of them on the boat?
thanks.

actually IIRC summoning only takes 1 complex action... which is roughly 3 seconds.
The only problem with what you wanna do is you can only have 1 unbound spirit at a time. Now if you were talking about binding them spirits... THAT takes 1 hour per force.... and binding materials
