Warning! Long Post Detected!Hey folks! Sorry about the delay!
On Initiation: Talked to
Lord imp today - he likes the idea of a group initiation. I see it as both a team building exercise, as well as a chance for further character development and an additional roleplaying exercise. All told, I'm looking forward to it!
On Sharing: That's an excellent suggestion, Toivoton, but I personally think it'd be something we'd do once the team was better integrated. After all, if Walker doesn't like Trolls, is he likely to lend any of his spirits to Bang? At least until Bang proves himself worthy? At the moment, the team's on the first run together, and still working out a lot of the kinks, so in a lot of ways, we're still jockeying to see where we all fit. I definitely see your suggestion as something we'll be doing in the near (two missions or so) future, though.
On the Witness Interview: Casey is personally manipulating Kalany with her body language, trying to improve her reaction to us. I'm presuming no modifiers on an Etiquette roll:
Etiquette Roll:4+Cha 5+Kinesics 2+First Impression 2=13 (1d6=5, 1d6=4, 1d6=1, 1d6=6, 1d6=4, 1d6=1, 1d6=3, 1d6=5, 1d6=5, 1d6=6, 1d6=4, 1d6=4, 1d6=5) (Six Hits! Beat That,
Kalany!).
Once this is done, she's guiding Ellie through the process of manipulating the subject as well, through the "stage directions", as well as other commentary discussions, as listed in the IC thread (post soon!) Casey's roll to assist Ellie is probably a Leadership to match Ellies... which is right here:
Leadership: 4+Cha 5+Kinesics 2+First Impression 2+Authority 1+Assistance 1=15 (1d6=4, 1d6=6, 1d6=5, 1d6=1, 1d6=5, 1d6=1, 1d6=3, 1d6=1, 1d6=4, 1d6=2, 1d6=4, 1d6=3, 1d6=4, 1d6=5, 1d6=2) (Aww, only 4 hits.); As far as I can tell, unless
imperialus thinks I have enough hits for more, Ellie is bound to get at one die in bonus for Casey's assistance (or vice versa) ... although you could use the "Ringer" rules, and give Casey the bonus for Ellie, even though Ellie is the "voice". (Basically, I'm reversing the rules for using Social Skills on groups of NPCs for use by PCs. [Pages 120 & 121]). I'm also presuming that we're considered "Obvious figures of authority", and our outfits put us in her social strata. Then presuming our goal is of no significance to her (or at least no negative significance), and she's neutral to us, if not friendly to Ellie. So the roll is... above!
Oh! And to assess what
Kalany is telling us, I suppose a Negotiation (Sense Motive) is in order. No external modifiers applied:
Negotiation: 4+Cha 5+Kinesics 2+First Impression 2=13 (1d6=5, 1d6=4, 1d6=2, 1d6=1, 1d6=5, 1d6=4, 1d6=3, 1d6=3, 1d6=5, 1d6=2, 1d6=3, 1d6=6, 1d6=5) 5 Hits. Who's an open book now, Kalany, hmm?
On Casey and Combat: I'm actually looking forward to the team's first combat, to see how it pans out... I'm thinking Casey's a bit more survivable than she looks, although she's definitely weak compared to the other members of Firewatch. Her body's not up to snuff, for start, but I like to think her Mystic Armour helps make up some of the difference. And while her automatics are behind, you should see what she can do with her omnipresent hold-out pistol! Thankfully, her ability to heal, and her metabolic control help keep her from dying, in theory. And if, for some emergency reason, she has to do hand-to-hand... well, say hello to her weapon focus, boys and girls! If she gets lucky, though, (which she most certainly is!), she should be alright. I hope. <winks>
On Casey herself: Here's one of the files Firewatch has on Casey. It's provided for flavour, and you're welcome to go through it. Constructive criticism, general thoughts, and other friendly comments appreciated.
Knight Errant Historical Profile: Firewatch Officer 131823: CaseyClassified: Blackout; Secrecy violations terminal[ Spoiler ]
Our records indicate that Cassandra holds a legal SIN, the child of two B-Grade corporate officers. It should also be noted that it is believed she holds additional SINs for other identities, most notable of which is Ms. A. Nine.
Mrs. Andromache Finnegan is listed as deceased, cause Cancer. Cassandra was 7 at the time.
Mr. Seamus Finnegan is listed as deceased, homicide suspected. Cassandra, age 14, was listed as a witness, but her testimony alone was insufficient to conclusively close the case. One notes that her testimony was significantly detailed in all senses, suggesting her awakened abilities were triggering.
Until reaching majority, she was shifted to different hosts within her parent corporate states. Varying expectations in this environment may have encouraged development of influence skills to ease the more "difficult" hosts. 3 of her 12 hosts have since been convicted of criminal activities, all of which include tips linked to her experience and own investigations.
Images of Cassandra prior to her age of majority do not appear to match the current baseline for "Casey". While Cassandra was regarded by her peers to be fairly attractive, Casey is most noticable for being unnoticable, almost bland. <<Projections indicate that Ms. A. Nine is a closer approximation of Cassandra's genetic expression.>>
At 21, Cassandra turned her trust funds towards establishing her own investigative firm. Initially small and successful, it appears to have been mostly a training run for her - her skills increased exponentially during this period of time. After 3 years, this corporation was purchased by Mulligan Investigations, (M. Mulligan Proprietor), and for continuity of corporate identity, Ms. Finnegan was asked to depart.
<<Casefiles attached>>
Ares hired Ms. Finnegan, now prefering the neutral and universal identity of "Casey" immediately after the purchase. Her skills were turned immediately to the undercover division.
Of note during this period - for each mission, Casey adopted a new "identity" during the investigation. Each identity appeared to be tailored to the needs of the operation, so no official comment will ever be made as to this practice. Teammates should be aware of this tendency to "experiment" with external identities, not limited by gender or metatype, just her disguise skills.
<<Mission files for her Ares operations attached>>
Additional note regarding mission 971457: Ares was hired to investigate the disappearances of supermodel class models from the arcology. Casey was assigned to the case, adopting the role of "Arcadia Nine", and travelling the club scene until she was "discovered".
<<It appears her blandness can be overcome by her disguises>>
Arcadia allowed her career to grow quickly to supermodel status, and was abducted within 6 months of "discovery". The details of her escape are in the Ares file, but threatened with imminent peril, she was forced to kill 3 of her abductors. The remaining 5 in the kidnapping and genemod ring were captured, their work destroyed, and the models returned to their lives with some counselling.
Among the models, Arcadia is respected, and this identity may prove useful in the future. Firewatch is advised to continue to encourage the "Arcadia" identity and career, although Casey has assured Knight Errant that Policework will remain her top priority. Arcadia's agent works with KE to ensure her primary career is not disrupted.
Recent assignment to Knight Errant Firewatch is acceptable, and the Chief of Operations is interested in seeing what her style, now disciplined by Firewatch training, will bring to her individual team.

I think that's about it! I hope I didn't miss anything in this mess.
