Another sign of my ignorance, and something that doesn't come out real obviously (Because fashion is always so glossed over in fluff) but what would be considered posh and formal? Like would it be similar to formal attire now-a-days? I figure the styles of the rich never really seem to change so much, so it would be somewhat similar I would think. Anyone know any different?
Yeah, I know, I'm making this way too difficult for an introductory meet, but appearance is very important to Hawkeye (kinda)

If you have access to Arsenal, it details a lot of options for high class clothing, and in their descriptions you get a sense of what is posh. Basically, your instinct is correct, but there are minor differences that crept in over the decades.

I'll have to give it a look. I admit I go over the 'how to blow stuff up better' section a bit more than the 'what is in fashion' section.

Edit: getting late though, I'll finish up my post tomorrow morning most likely.

At the moment cultural and national dress is in as a fashion model. Vashoun Island does the whole Pocahontas line to Cleopatra. It's one part fancy dress and one part "fashion". Big in the U.S. where you want to show off your roots. Everyone else looks at you weird for wanting to dress up in plate or as Mel Gibson's William Wallace. Vashoun Island's jewellery line is great if you want pick up authentic replicas of ethnic jewellery, but the prices are incredible, a silver byzantine diamond necklace will easily set you back 5,000 nuyen.
Mortimer of London is trying to push in a steampunk style, but it has nto take off in Seattle as much as it has in Europe. It will likely peter out well before it hits anything past Boston, where it will continue to survive for about five years and take on a clockwork punk style. Clothes are expensive, for accessories you really have to troll though antique shops or go on the Matrix auction shops. Even a fake silver pocketwatch will cost you 200 nuyen.
Zoe is probably the only line that anyone would willingly wear. consisting of natural fibres and utilising natural elements of the body, the seek to highlight the person instead of coverng them with clothing. They are known for being elegant and chic. Zoe also has some nice purses and bags. It's mid to upscale, definitely what you wear to parties or impress the boss.
Actioneer business suits, do business suits. Style is taken from the Japanese sarariman outfit. While good quality and often armor padded they have about as much personality as an airport hotel room. Good for hiding in a crowd, but not if you want to dress for success.
In short:
What's in:
Traditional styles
Natural fibers
Ethnic jewellery
French lingerie (since everythign is very generic, you have to dress special underneath)
Medium sized leather handbags (the 3.5 litre bag, enough to keep a commlink and a chihuahua, not an assault rifle and armored vest)
Piled hair and accented make-up
What's out:
Artificial fibers
high-tech designs
fibre optic hair
heavy make-up (Sorry Vashoun, but your cosmetic line is bottoming out)
bling jewellery
clutches

No, but I might have managed to puzzle it out otherwise.
Heh, I'm so used to carrying a backpack that I didn't even think about a handbag to keep something in.
Sounds like my outfit should fit in reasonably well enough. I wasn't sure if strait up kimono would fit, so I figured I'd do a mix-n-match sort of thing. Glad we have at least one fashion mougle in the group, because I'm dead out of it.

Also, Dexter = Mr. Juan right? So how do we have Dexter in on the scene already? Or do you mean like... needs to post something?

That is a really good analysis of the SR 2072 fashion scene. If you ever do decide to write free lance for the SR world, you should consider writing about the fashion and lifestyle portion of the universe. Or possibly submit something to Datahaven.

Speaking of style and fashion, Hodder's Foci are as follows:
Power Focus (2) Pendant on short necklace (almost a choker, with the pendant hanging right at the soft spot of the throat where the clavicles meet) in style of
THIS, but with the symbol for the Sephirot
Hod, as in
THIS.
Sustaining Focus (3) Silver bracelet in style of
THIS.

What is that necklace supposed to be? Hard to tell despite how big it is in the picture. Also, that is a -huge- looking bracelet

I believe that is called the 'hollow' of the neck.
Edit: Almost looks like a whistle on the right side of the necklace

It's a piece of iron pyrite, with a smooth face ground into it, on which is the symbol. Yeah, when I look at it closely now, I see on the right side something that looks like a gnome carrying a fast-food-outlet garbage can. Yeah... I know.

SincereAgape, what is the availability in your game of plasteel ingots?
SincereAgape
Oct 2 2009, 08:39 PM
Flipping through SM and I can't find a table or a number for the availability for the item.
If there is a sample rating that has been used in previous games or a reference page in any of the books other then SM 87, then I can make a estimated gauge for you.

Here's a pic of my character as drawn by Dragon Girl:
http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i250/The...nGirl/Chrys.jpgThe closest I can find is refined iron, which is avail 6 and price is 100.
All of the elements are animal, plant, mineral, or gem based. Plasteel is a modern composite.
pbangarth
Oct 2 2009, 08:53 PM
I haven't found any reference for the basic material anywhere, even in Arsenal. I kind-of assume that this construction material shouldn't be too hard to find, I mean it is used in buildings all over the place, but I wanted your opinion. Yes, the homunculus on p. 87 of SM is the idea I have, for down the road sometime.
The only reference I can find for plasteel availability is in Arsenal p. 150, talking about plasteel components for a weapon, and those have a nasty availability, but that is a very specific use, with machined parts made of this non-standard-for-weapons material. A hunk of construction material would be fine for Hodder's purposes. he would do all the machining himself with his Industrial Mechanic Skill. (Of course, he will need access to an industrial mechanics shop, too.)
Karoline
Oct 2 2009, 08:54 PM
Given that plasteel is used in -everything- I'd imagine it would be fairly easy to get your hands on some.
Also, great imagine, she sure draws quick.
Look a bit on the short side though... that or the head is kinda big.. which would be totally fitting

So, quickly, in a nutshell:
Dexter looks like he's in his fifties. Maybe even late fifties. He sports an obvious cyberarm (right), which pretty much looks like the Terminator's arm

He's freshly shaved, but still has somewhat scruffy gray hair, which his pulled into a tight pony tail. His eyes, well, he doesn't "really" have eyes par se. Think back to the Street Samurai image in the archetype section of SR2... that pretty much how his eyes look

Sweet!
Also, love the character. Though the 'sit down and write a letter on paper' part seemed kinda unlikely. I mean that is rarely done, and even if he is 50, that would put him as a child around 2030, by which point I doubt there was much paper usage (There isn't much now for talking to other people in a non-official way)
Just a tiny nit-pick, but otherwise fun. I'm sure he'll love seeing that one of his team-mates-to-be is 16

She doesn't chuckle though

Edit: Anyway, the gang is all here. Agape likely to do a post of some kind before bed?

Okay, real question though. Since my personal clandestine and business dealings are limited, I want to make sure I understand the terms of the payments: We get 3k a day period so long as we are on the mission. Our hotels/apartments/whatever are paid for, and we get a 400
