@Abschalten
I take it the walls of Dexter's apartment are regular drywalls (structure 3)?
Yes; he plans on just shooting both guys (or gals!) dead through the wall wink.gif
Doc Chase
Shorned Ones on one side, La Alianza on the other, and the Cat's Paw staff in the corner.

You sure know how to throw a party, Abs. biggrin.gif

*takes a bow*

@Mister Juan
Yep, it's shitty drywall (if even that.) If you shoot at them, use Agility+(Weapon). It's not Blind Fire since you can see them. I was going to apply some sort of modifier but the barriers are effectively "transparent" so none applies.

And this is why I think a rating 4 radar cyberware implant is awesome!
Combat Mage
Looks like the situation at the cat's paw could get a little complicated since we have characters there who are about half an hour apart. wink.gif

I'm just trying to get out alive at this point smile.gif

Also, I haven't really been reading the rest of the posts that much, since my character wasn't there and I wanted to avoid unintentional metagaming. You guys are gonna be at the Cat's Paw too? nyahnyah.gif
Combat Mage
I will at least but half an hour later than you.

@Abschalten:

I don't know if the guards want to stop me or something so I only wrote that Sam's going towards the entrance and didn't let him enter yet.

I'll try not to burn the place down.

Haha. That bit of writing was done on purpose, what with Stephen getting out and then Sam and Smiley getting there a little while later. I was just giving a glimpse of the future showing the ruckus Stephen's actions caused. Paths may criss-cross a few times like this before everyone gets together. I was just playing with the narrative. I don't expect Stephen to stand around for 30+ minutes while dudes are looking to cap him.

Haha, yeah. It'd be funny to read about Stephen's death before it happened..

EDIT: Of course, I'm sure Stephen could help the Amnesiac more than almost anybody.
Combat Mage
I don't think Sam's amnesia can be cured by a mind probe that would be too easy and not noir enough. wink.gif
But Stephen would be immensly helpful in getting all that knowledge out of people who could know something about Sam's past.

Btw I'm seriously considering just letting the amnesiac name himself Sam or some other name. I'm sick of calling him the elf, the amnesiac etc all the time. biggrin.gif

Just wait - Sonora has a habit of nicknaming people. nyahnyah.gif
Combat Mage
Oh great. I'm already dreading the kind of name my poor injured amnesiac will be stuck with. Probably something like "the mooch" in spanish. biggrin.gif
Doc Chase
With as much as you get shot, you may take Carne away from Coatl, and he can be Machete. nyahnyah.gif

He's like an eight foot tall Danny Trejo.
Combat Mage
Hey I only got shot on one occasion and that was before the game actually started. nyahnyah.gif
Doc Chase
Depends on what you look like when they meet. If you look like you did when we started, it's gonna be Sangre. biggrin.gif
Rastus
Sonora can call Combat Mage's character whatever she wishes, but I've got dibs on Dex and Stephen's nicknames.

That's right Mister Juan and Zaius, be afraid. Be very afraid!

Funny, I was thinking of Coatl as a mix between a troll, Danny Trejo, and Marv from Sin City.

Announcement!

I've been waffling back and forth on the Edge issue, mainly pertaining to the poorly written line where it indicates using Edge to reroll dice on tests that do not get a hit. There was recently a thread on Edge in the main Shadowrun section where the issue was sliced and diced, and I've been reading that, rereading the rule in question, and just trying to approach it with an open mind and come to a conclusion.

While I disagree with its inclusion on several grounds, I have to recant and say that the Rules As Written for that particular use of Edge is that, yes, you can use it to reroll failures on a single test. So the part where you roll 20 dice, get 7 hits, and then roll 13 more dice... that's the Rules As Written. Again, I don't like it, but in this campaign I'm trying to stay pretty close to the RAW so that everyone is on equal footing.

My previous ruling on the Edge was that you could only reroll the dice if you got no hits on the test. Since I'm recanting and no longer agree with that interpretation, I can only wonder if that influenced the uses of Edge that have gone on currently during the campaign. In order to put everyone back on equal footing with my new interpretation in mind, I've decided to refresh Edge for everyone, so right now everyone has Edge back at maximum. The only exclusions from this are those currently in combat, which should be Lamhslea, Rystefn, and Mister Juan. Your Edge will refresh at the end of combat. So smoke 'em if you've got 'em. smokin.gif

I'll have updates and responses out later on tonight.

Yeah, more than once in this tenement scene I've thought of Marv. Danny Trejo, however, is an excellent addition to the mix and I'm ashamed he didn't come to mind earlier.

Seeing as how Sonora probably came close to killing that spirit on her own, I might just take to calling her Miho instead.
Abschalten
I think it's awesome how my update just now was in reverse chronological order. It was like I was watching Memento or something.
Martin_DeVries_Institute
Bravo, sir!

If Coatl were to just grab Sonora and make a run for it, what sort of modifier would there be on the Strength roll?
Abschalten
Hmm. First a Body+Strength roll to lift her up. Then a Running+Strength roll, I'll say at a -2. Though you get extra leeway on the test since you already have a longer stride. Fuck it, if you lift her up the -2 penalty is negated.
Martin_DeVries_Institute
OK. Picking up Sonora:

18d6.hits(5) → [1,4,1,2,2,3,3,3,4,2,1,6,2,2,2,3,5,4] = (2)

You have got to be fucking kidding me, but at least it didn't glitch. ohplease.gif OK, and now to run with m'lady... (Strength - 1, defaulting, no Running)

8d6.hits(5) → [3,6,5,4,1,1,3,5] = (3)
Abschalten
Man, you nailed both the thresholds I was thinking of. Good show. You are successful. Feel free to make a post detailing what you're doing.
Rastus
Here's Smiley's computer attempt:

5d6.hits(5) → [4,1,1,6,2] = (1)

That Smiley guy? Yeah, he's the technical guy of the group. Good thing, no?
Abschalten
@Smiley
Smiley figures out that it's got some sort of proprietary block on it. Details are mentioned in Unwired (away from my books at present.) Meaning unless you get a certain configuration of device (the right hardware, operating system, etc.) it's totally unusable and unreadable. Even if you cracked the Encryption it would still be unreadable gibberish.

Wait... am I reading that right? Did you just say "You're in combat, and your Edge will refresh as soon as it's over"? Dude, you are so damned lucky I'm playing a low-edge build in this game...

Oh, and on a completely unrelated note: I won't be posting this upcoming weekend, as I'll be lying on on the beach in Puerto Villarta with an hot redhead and an open bar. Life is good. biggrin.gif

If you see any Los Zetas down there, take note: they're my inspiration for La Alianza. smile.gif
Mister Juan
Dexter will fire at both target, through the drywall. I was REALLY tempted to use his Free Action to have him say, before shooting: "You guys sure as hell don't waste time."

Cavalier Deputy (8/8 cy (7 EX EX, 1 Tracker))
AP -3 (Base -1, Ex Ex -2)
DV 7 (Base 5, Ex Ex +2)

Simple Action: Fire Weapon (SA), Target 1
Agility (right arm): 9
Pistols: 4
+2 for smartlink
Dicepool: 15
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2616842/
3,6,5,3,1,4,2,1,4,6,5,1,1,4,5: 5 hits

Free Action: Aim at Target 2

Simple Action: Fire Weapon (SA), Target 2
Agility (right arm): 9
Pistols: 4
+2 for smartlink
Recoil cancelled by cyberarm gyromount
-2 for shooting at more than one target
+1 for Aim action
Dicepool: 14
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2616844/
6,3,1,6,3,6,4,5,4,5,3,4,6,1: 6 hits

Cavalier Deputy (6/8 cy (5EX EX, 1 Tracker))

Holy hell! eek.gif I'll have to roll for them when I get home and see if they're even still alive.
Lamhslea
Chaske is just going to drive away as fast as he can. If Mono thinks he can hang on with just one hand he can try and shoot as we flee nyahnyah.gif
Doc Chase
I'm drunk, so my math may be off, but DV 12/13 on a Surprise means there may be paste.
Mister Juan
I think they get like 1 or 2 armor from the wall, right?

And if they both get dead in one shot... well... it'll just be that much more badass nyahnyah.gif

[Dead assassin tumbles out of closet after Dexter has fired into it without warning]
Danny Madigan: How'd you know someone was in there?

It's... not going to be pretty. I'll have to roll for them when I get home.

@Lamhslea and Rystefn
I likewise need to do a couple rolls for you guys, so I'll make a post when I get home, setting up initiative order and whatnot.

Hint: Edge can also let you go first in combat. smile.gif

I think it's 2, myself.

Righto! When you didn't include Mono or Chaske in your last post I was unsure if you were waiting on us to declare actions or not.

This is a pretty tense scene, not sure how Chaske plans on getting out of this one. Hopefully, when the sun comes up they'll be less willing to jump him in public areas.

I have to say I actually missed yours and Rystefn's initiatives before I left the house, which is why I didn't make a post for you guys. I haven't rolled for the bad guy(s) yet. I'm sorry. That's all on me. frown.gif

@Mister Juan
Go ahead and make a post for your shots. I have a feeling I'm going to have to write a hell of a follow up for those rolls, which I'll do soon as I get home in a couple hours.
Lamhslea
Don't sweat it, man. You're doing an excellent job and I'm ecstatic to be part of this game!
Abschalten
@Lamhslea and Rystefn
I'm giving you the first go in the Combat regardless of Edge use, to represent the fact that a.) you've gotta use it up before it refreshes and b.) the GM was a 'tard and didn't do the initiatives before he went to work.

Combat Order

El Mono 14 / Chaske 12 / Shorned One 11 | El Mono 14 / Shorned One 11

Rystefn, it is your go. smile.gif

@Mister Juan
Dexter popped 'em and did some damage. They're still game, though. Combat Order is as follows:

Assassin #1 11, Assassin #2 11, Dexter 10 -- Assassin #1 11, Assassin #2 11, Dexter 10 -- Dexter 10

I'll make the post detailing their actions and then we'll go from there.

@Mr. Juan: I'm pretty sure SR4a changed Ex-Ex to +1 DV/-1 AP instead of +2/-2.

I'm kinda feeling like a party crasher always pointing out rules stuff. It's just an obsessive habit of mine. If it's too annoying tell me and I'll try to restrain my self.
Rastus
Don't be so hard on yourself CM, I'm sure it happens to everyone... Anyways, with all the combat going on we are still behind on our quota for explosions. So, I'm calling an emergency broadcast.

A VIKING emergency broadcast!

(Dex can be the green-clad bald black leader guy, Smiley will be the technoviking.)

I didn't make a post on it yet, but I did catch that and I factored the damage codes in the errata in my calculations.

Did I mention that Sam's not the smartest kid on the block? biggrin.gif

Anyway here's an intimidation roll to try and look dangerous enough so the guards think twice about starting a fight:
