I don't have Augmentation, so please correct me if this is addressed in it.

I've always wondered why none of the official books have come up with a "Cosmetic Surgery" spell. It seems like something that magic could be used to great advantage.

Even if you maintained that the spell could (or perhaps only should) be attempted by someone with an appropriate medical skill (Medicine or Cosmetic Surgery Specialization), there are quite a few shadow reasons and even some legal reasons why this would have been a major goal for quite a few people.

How many movies have you seen where a bad guy really needs to hide out and gets some quick shadowcutter cosmetic surgery to change his appearance enough ? What about the New You shop on the corner which now offers (for a steep fee) a no appointment necessary gender change? Loose all that excess fat over your lunch break? What if your character wanted to hide a little or just decided he wanted a pair of boobs for a while, just to throw people off their balance? Maybe this is just my twisted mind at work.

I'm really not a psycho, trust me.

I don't think it's easy to make permanent changes in people with magic, is it?
apollo124
Obviously it would be a Health spell, with a minimum sustaining time that IMO would have to be much too long to be cast successfully in combat. I would say it should have the same stipulation as the Fashion and Makeover spells "The changes rendered are permanent until lifestyle changes alter the situation".

Not the version I read, the version I read mentions that it will replace the female plumbing in the case of transgendered individuals.

That said, seems reasonable to have the same costs.

Yeah, I noticed that when I reread the entry. The first time I just skimmed it and misread the female bit. Be that as it may though, there's no reason that a female version would differ all that much in either price or Essence.

Depends. The rules necessary with the spell construction table are in Street Magic. It's rather if you want to give magic so much influence that it does make all the other nifty disguising options useless. Also, it would make the Disguise illusion spell worthless, if you allow some kind of Cosmetic Surgery manipulation spell, because spells only take some rounds to become permanent, and you can make permanent spells after all.

It's all a choice of game balance.

biggrin.gif Pssh, cosmetic surgery. Give me the good ole Turn to Goo anyday.

What's more inconspicious than a pile of goo on the floor?

My first thought when I read this thread was, "okaaay, that's why I don't play SR4".

But, then I learned about how the three seashells are supposed to work and what I feel is VICTORY.

For years it was a mystery. Nobody knew. And now I do.

Thank you, DSF. Your power is truly ultimate.

Now you know why she sells sea shells by the sea shore. wink.gif

Here's one for you. I think cyberdicks would be perfect enhancements for people who want to remain celibate. Reason? The erection is completely under your control. Lets say a person, for whatever reason, did not want to be aroused. They simply wouldn't be. I assume you could add this inhibitor without having to go the whole cyberdick route, but I'd charge the same in essence and nuyen anyway. So the Catholic priest simply gets his ability to be aroused removed surgically. The guy who is in denial about being gay can turn himself off in the shower room, and turn himself on with the wife, against his natural inclinations.

A wife could encrypt her husbands ability to acheive erection, preventing him from straying. The courts could do the same thing to a rapist, effectively castrating him for the duration of his sentence, then reactivating it when his parole is up. Being able to deny sex to a person that way would be powerful leverage. A man could get a job as a eunic in a harem, and have his dick come back online when he was outside the range of the cock-blocker code at work.

I think you're confusing a dick for a brain and hormones.

Removing a dick isn't necessarily going to remove the urge - that would involve some sort of chemical manipulation to neutralise the hormones.

In the same vein, a wife controlling her husband ability to have an erection won't stop him getting some extra-marital action.

Switching a dick 'on' or 'off' involves a lot more than just the dick, I'm afraid.

I personally don't see that it needs to be officially written up, etc..
..But since some people are more concerned with numbers and gadgets than actual roleplaying, and I am not forced to use the rules/gadgets, I see no real problem in having that info.

Personally, I'm more interested in the options available for bodysculpting, and using that information to add depth to characters [Lupus Yonderboy, anyone ??].

Just my thruppence..

Inconspicuous, sure. But it is awfully hard to turn back FROM a pool of goo.
PlatonicPimp
No, you just stop sustaining the spell.

Back on topic, though. How would turn to goo effect sex?

Brain: Turn to Goo + Sex = Intimacy / 0. ***Error! Error!***
PlatonicPimp
I don't know, it combines lubricant and threesomes in a unique way.
hyzmarca
Actually, the Goo in Turn to Goo is sticky and glue-like.

Still, there is something ultimately intimate about being able to just immerse yourself in someone or pour someone totally inside of you.

It does make me wonder exactly what 2070 magic and technology offer to unbirthing fetishists.
PlatonicPimp
That's because you have the wrong version of the spell.

And it does leave the cyberware intact, so if the target had cybergenitals...

How about using Shapechange to turn your partner into a Protean?
Ol' Scratch
Shapechange has Body limitations. I believe it's only +/-2 Body. So you could change an Ork with Strength 6 into a Horse (Body 8), but not a Dog (Body 2) let alone something that doesn't even have a Body score.
PlatonicPimp
Any spell or cybernetics that allows shapechange will be popular. Half the fun of cheating with much fewer drawbacks, it's the adjustable partner!
