I'm actually ready when you guys are, I have statted Vasily and the dogs comprehensively since we were introduced to little Portia, and I can whip up networks on the fly, a skill I mastered back in 2nd edition. *grins* And yes, all those arcane flowcharts that described networks...one-ways, switch connections, shell networks...I know them well.

Yea, but we were waiting on Gecko's go since we wanted him to have the element of surprise before he did his roof thing.

QUOTE (DWC @ Oct 30 2008, 04:01 PM)
I'm just expecting that as soon as you all approached, the security system detected the new hidden nodes and the surge of encrypted wireless traffic, an agent decrypted and sniffed it wireless traffic, and he's now walking through the house listening to your plans while he uses the tacnet data to find your physical locations and matrix personas, while an agent traces them to get your Access IDs to start spoofing tactical network data.
There's no indication of a Telematics Infrastructure and if there was one it would take a shit load longer than 15 seconds to detect us.
I didn't see any pressure sensors. Was looking for them and can see through about a meter of earth with the Ultrawideband RADAR. Not that I trip them anyway....
What I should have been looking for is the buried fiberoptic line coming out of the house. This would have been a much easier if we could have simply spliced into that just before the junction box and cut the Security Firm completely out of the loop.

Admittedly, he did specify that the house's security is archaic, so the odds of having agents aggressively scanning for hidden nodes are pretty slim.

Can we stop posting in IC until people catch up?
I'm waiting on a reply from Easy. Stop winding the clock forwards.
Can DD even unlock the doors? It isn't clear from Jake's posts. I won't proceed any further until I know.

I might have to fade Mia out of the game for the time being, got too many games on the go atm and I'm not enjoying playing her very much. (Being okay at a lot of things is remarkably dull compared with being good at something)
Edit - If Jake doesn't mind the idea, then maybe people with good standing with the Triad can buy chemicals/drugs/bombs from her in a contact esque manner.

Look that's eleven posts now in under a second.
Can you guy's shut up and wait on Easy or agree that he has acted?
Shalimar
Oct 30 2008, 06:54 PM
Your trying to make this way too complicated, and doing something thats going to make us stick out to an extreme degree. Going in through the ceiling is going to raise the profile of the run by a lot, whether or not anyone hears you doing it.
Either way, stealth is an area spell and an area of the roof would be covered by it if it was cast at or near the front of the house.

Oct 30 2008, 07:03 PM
Look, this is only taking a long time in 'game time' because you guy's keep running the clock on while I wait for Jake to answer basic questions.
From my POV we've been on site less than 30 seconds.
How is cutting through the door with a Katana a better plan than mine?
Take a chill pill.
Divine Virus
Oct 30 2008, 07:08 PM
Yeah, cutting through door does not seem like a good plan to me either.
Shalimar
Oct 30 2008, 07:41 PM
Breaking down the door, or hacking through it doesn't point to the extreme level of skilled required to jump up onto the roof and blast their way down through it. That stands out quite a bit more making the run higher profile. I wont argue that the sword doesn't raise the noticibility of the run a bit, but I don't think it does so anywhere close to going in through the roof.

Oct 30 2008, 07:51 PM
If DD can she'll open the doors, but I think it was mentioned you can't hack the doors by remote.
Divine Virus
Oct 30 2008, 07:53 PM
I thought he was just going to try to sneak in through the roof or else Celeste would have objected. Ah well.
crizh
Oct 30 2008, 08:01 PM
I may not have to do either if we have a little patience. If he goes out I can just drill a hole in the roof of the garage and pop him when he opens the door to leave.
Fuchs
Oct 30 2008, 08:04 PM

Shalimar
Oct 30 2008, 09:04 PM
Stealth is cast on a person and quiets that person, Silence is an area affect spell that is cast and then stays stationary. At least thats my understanding.

We always played that you could target a person or vehicle.
Just like if I touched some one and cast Combat Sense.
Could be a house rule.

Okay, back, and quickscanned this thread: Yes, DD has the door controls. More answers as I wade through the posts.

Oct 30 2008, 11:23 PM
Does DD have control of the exterior doors as well as the interior doors?
crizh
Oct 30 2008, 11:28 PM
If DD has access to the door controls I'm already set for the garage door. If everybody else gets into place we can be done in no time.

Yes. Though, all the doors have overrides, but they take time.
crizh
Oct 30 2008, 11:54 PM
What exactly do you mean by override?
Fuchs
Oct 31 2008, 12:08 AM
I asusme that they can manually be overriden - meaning, DD can't lock Vergot in for a length of time. I need to go to bed now, so assume DD opens and closes locks as needed, and such.

Okay. I've already ran some numbers, and based on what I've given you in descriptive hints, I think you can validly run this scenario without unfair surprises. You may, or may not, have picked up on some context clues, but there's definate foreshadowing for the wise. That being said, I don't fudge combat numbers, that's what Edge is for. I recommend you make use of it. Let's do this thing.

Oct 31 2008, 03:14 PM
Sounds good to me. I think at this point DD has unlocked the doors so we can all proceed in, though I'd wait until she locks the dogs in first.

I'm ready to act but can't without more information. This would be a lot easier with a map...
The garage opens into the kitchen which, presumably, opens into a hallway that runs the length of the house. The den is on one side of this hallway and the living-room on the other.
Has Dancer crossed this hallway to shoot at Vassily? Or has he been able to remain in the den's doorway or far enough back in the hall for Vassily to be forced to leave the living-room to engage him in melee?
edit - I'm going to watch Eleventh Hour and then I'm off to bed until about 1500 Zulu...
another edit - off to bed. In a hideous epiphany it has just occurred to me that we are majorly boned here. There's only one way I can think of to take this guy alive and I don't like it one bit....
(what does his biomonitor have to say?)
Shalimar
Nov 1 2008, 02:38 PM
Did you mean a stun spell from Easy? I still think we can do something vs Vassily without him. I mean, I can put 2 stun rounds into him on my next action and sacrifice dice for the bonus damage given all the negatives he is going to be under. I do wish we had some slap patches or slab though. I'm in a real good spot to hit him with a few of those.
Coldhand Jake
Nov 1 2008, 02:57 PM
Okay. Yes, that layout assessment is solid. Vassily is headed from living room to den, across a thin hallway, to find the person who just shot him.
crizh
Nov 1 2008, 02:58 PM
Thing is, unless I miss my mark, this guy is a berserker. To put him down we're going to have to do enough damage to kill him. At which point he'll be dead and we won't get paid.
Mickle5125
Nov 1 2008, 04:37 PM
he definitely appears to be ignoring the stun damage. half the means of doing that make him nigh on invincible, and half of them allow him to ignore the stun mods, but still allow him to be KOed with enough stun damage. I know which one I hope it is.
I'm gone until tomorrow evening. Jake knows what I want to do, and he has my permission to post said actions in order to keep the action going.
See you guys tomorrow!

Sorry about the delay. Halloween is always a busy day for me.
Initiative 16So if I understand correctly, he is in the living room, and Pura tried to open the door. Then he rammed the door shut, then went chasing after Dancer, but he is still in LOS of the door (assuming it was open).
So, Celeste as a free action is going to set the fire mode of his FN to Narrow Long Burst.
First Simple action he is going to step around Pura to open the door.
2nd simple action he is going to fire at the target.
[ Spoiler ]
Automatics 5+specialty 2+agility 3+tacnet 3+Smartlink 2- recoil 0(5 recoil- 5 recoil comp)= 15 dice
3 hitsSo thats 11 stun+ extra hits w/ +2 to the target's armour.
[ Spoiler ]
base4+ Gel 2+ wide 5= 11S
I would also like to make note that I am both silent and invisible, so I don't see a way for him to know I was shooting in order to defend against the shot.
I then use my remaining movement to move into the living room where he is, as far from where I shot from as possible.
