Full Version: Characters, spawned out of Insanity

So, like i always do when i am bored i creat some characters. Most of them fairly normal inhabitants of the sixth world. But sometimes i just like to push it. Just having a look on how things work, what would be THERORETICAL possible. So after i build the following character, i asked myself: What have the others here thought of... or what can they build?

So it's easy: You can build a character with standart rules: 400 BP, normal availability. But here is the catch: You have a braindamaged GM who will allow everything (Every optional rule, as long as its in a book, and any composition of traits, races, SURGE, anything) Also you of course don't plan on playing that character really. Its just for the laughs. So. What have you build? (Don't have to break combat. Build a "Pornomancer" (god i hate that word) A guy who can drive a bicicle through the air at 150 MPH, or a man who can count microbes with closed eyes. And then add a small desciption on how "it" would work, what he COULD do.

My first entry would be this Monster:

Vampire : -100 BP
Str: 1 Cha: 3+5
Bod: 1+2 Int: 2
Agi: 3 Log: 1
Rea: 3 Will: 2+5
Edge: 2+4 Magic: 1+5
Ini: 8/2IP
150+105 BP
=255 BP Rest: 45 BP
Qualities:
Magician -15BP Cha-based possession tradition of choice
Free Spirit Pact (Drain +4) -20 BP
Aspected magician (Conjuror) optional Rule: Expert aspected magician (+2 dice) +5 BP
Gremlins (4) +20 BP
Spirit Bane (Plant) +10 BP
+/- 0 BP

Skills:
Summoning (Guardian): 6 (cool.gif
-26 BP

Equipment (15BP=75.000)
Summoning Focus (4) 60.000
Heavy Leadpipe 0 Str/2+1 damage, Reach: 1
Foam Explosives (R15) 10 kg 15.000

Bound: Summoning Focus (4): 4BP

Modus Operandi:
Summons a rating 12 Guardian Spirit for possession of himself, DP: 6 (magic)+6 (skill)+2 (spec)+2 (expert summoner)+6 (Edge) =22 Dice against 12 of the Spirit.
Expected: ~8 successes, and ~4 for the spirit.

Drain: 8DV, DP: 7 (Will)+7 (Cha) +4 (Spirit Pact) +6 (Edge)=24 Dice
Which should be about 8 successes. Even in the „worst case scenario” of the spirit having ~10 hits
it is very possible he would be still standing (If he rolls above average too... and has a good medical team for the overflow *g*)

Ok, so we got a dude; Str 13, Bod:15, Agi:15, Rea 15 Ini: 33 / 3IP, steered by a mage who has enough services owed to describe in gruesome detail what the spirit should do... Also he has got a hardened armor of 24... and it would be discussable that he might still be able to regenerate damage. (Ok that's pushing it. Magicical abilities should fall off an possessed character *g*)

The Spirit uses its natural Weapon: DV 12, 27 Dice to attack. Oh, you want to stunbolt him? Well tough luck, he has magical Guard: Will+Magical guard =24 dice against that. Hm...

God, this man needs only to train his attributes a bit and he will be a complete monster. (Also learning channeling and invokation may be funny too) Maybe one could even try to raise magic and try a Force 14 Spirit, also getting buffed on his drain attributes by a friend or learning to do it himself would be nice too.

Ok, let's see what you've got.
Karoline
You forgot that the spirit doesn't like you and uses edge in the opposed test too wink.gif Double dice and exploding biggrin.gif
Summerstorm
Naa, what's not to like? Spirit and me gonna have fun *g*. Seriously though: All things in this thread are in the characters favour. We can go completely nuts here.
TheMidnightHobo
I once rolled up a guy who got around 30 dice for social pools, but that's not that impressive... I'll see if I can find him and spiffy him up some. BP only, right? No Karma equivalent? I've got some pretty nasty guys from Karmagen lying around somewhere, too...

Oh, and what's the lead pipe for? XD

clearly, it's a straw. i mean, what's the point in being immune to lead poisoning if you're not gonna take advantage of it, right?

Also, there's Brick. And Bloodzilla. And The ultimate Mundane Climber, the 4 or 6 Armed Menace, and my very own, Binky the 10 limbed equine Hover Tank Cyberzombie.

I vote you post Binky.
Stahlseele
I never really statted him up, because i don't play SR4 and thus don't know the rules as well as most other people.
Basically, i took the Cyber-Limb-Armor to the extreme.
Take a Centaur, surge him to have 6 Arms. so 6 Arms and 4 Legs = 10 Limbs. Plus Head and Torso.
Now replace with Cyber-Ware. Even with the needed Delta-Grade stuff you go into Cyber-Zombie-Land.
Now mount Hover-Feet/Skimmer-Discs on the legs. Build an articulate Weapons-Mount on his back. Presto, equine Hover-Tank.
I had some other ideas way back then, but i don't remember them all. I'll see if i can dig it up again, so someone else can try statting up that monster.
Hey, i even got Squinky to draw him for me, and it looked like REALLY COOL! ^^
Karoline
How does 6 armored limbs help you out? Armor on cyber-limbs averages, it doesn't add.
Stahlseele
In SR4, it directly adds.
And as far as i know, this was not changed in SR4A.
If it was, Cyber-Limb-Armor becomes stupid useless again.
Dahrken
Yeah, armor for multiple cyberend body parts adds up in Anniversary too.

Yes it's a bit weird, but in a location-less system it's probably the easisest way to reflect the increase in overall toughness of a character when you keep adding armored cyberlimbs.
Medicineman
Cyberlimb Armor adds up
and don't forget 12 Pips more on the Physical Track.
You can Spice it up by one or two rigger Gnome(s) Riding Binky
(Drones & Remote Control Weapons with maxed out 5 IPs in VR)

HokaHey
Medicineman
Stahlseele
Else, every limb gets a tracking weapon mount too.
Lot'S of guns, lots of HARDENED Armor, Lots of Magical Resistance.
Also, can pretty much go everywhere. You have a HOVER-TANK that fits inside of buildings
Edit:
i found squinkys impression of binky ^^

Karoline
Well, if we're playing by the 'brain dead GM' rules then yeah, but as far as I can see in the rules, there is nothing that says that armor from individual limbs all adds up. In fact, the most relevant statement that I can find is this:
QUOTE
When a particular limb is used for a test (such as leading
an attack with your cyberarm), use the attribute for that
limb (natural or cyber); in any other case, take the average
value of all limbs involved in the task (round down). If a task
requires the careful coordination of several limbs, use the
value of the weakest limb.

Given that being shot involves your entire body (Because there is no hit location system), I would think it would fall under the 'take the average value of all limbs involved in the task' rule. This seems supported by:
QUOTE
If he gets shot, however, he uses the average value of
his Body attributes, rounded down—in this case, 4.

Now granted they are talking about stats here, and not armor specifically, but I figure armor counts as a stat.

Is there some page that I am missing where it says that armor from various limbs stack in a way which is the complete opposite of how the rules for everything else about cyberlimbs work?

Don't mention it...

I'm a fan of Warhammer 40,000 as well, so here's my rendition of a Grey Knight Terminator in a 400 BP Shadowrun character:

[ Spoiler ]

We're talking 16 hardened armor, 32/30 total, 15 dice to shoot his gauntlet-mounted HVAR, 17 for his Power Focus Claymore that he can (and will) one-hand, and various other neat things, like Arcane Arrester. His Predjudice should be against all "witches", being any Awakened that is not a part of his faction.

Nice, But I would say that you cannot use the PPP Equipment with your Milspec Armor (Gm Judgement Call here, Not too much of a detriment though)... Otherwise not too shabby indeed...

Neraph
Oh no, the PPP is for the Armored Jacket, when he doesn't want to look like a 12-foot-tall death-machine.

*shrug* Whatever flies in your game world.

That said, can we do this under Karmagen system as well? I know some particularly fun tricks under karmagen.
Neraph
You can use the method in my signature in Karmagen.... (shudder)

I did a search and you find multiple answers from the devs and freelancers involved in the writing the rules. The Devs seem to be unsure as to how to handle the cyberlimb armor, the freelancers all seem sure it's supposed to stack, it's deliberately unlike SR3. Given that you have so many different understanding from people involved in writing the rules you can do whatever the hell you want and claim it's what the rules say. Then again, you can do this for about half of the core mechanics of SR4....

Well, you can claim it is what they intend, but they obviously don't say it.

No, what they say is it adds armor. There isn't any place in SR4 that has armor being averaged. See last rule on armor and encumbrance on page 149. It's all additive. This does seem lead to insanity, but that's exactly what some people involved in the design process seem to think was what was the intended outcome.

Rob was quoted as saying it was there only to defend against called shots, which is pretty much completely pointless given the game mechanics.
Glyph
Well, here's a modest effort from me. I'm not that good at the rules-exploit tweaks; I'm more of a min-maxer than a loophole-finder. But I keep hearing how high dice pools and tough characters "break" the game, so maybe this guy qualifies. Like the pornomancer, he is functional, but not optimal, because he is mostly a one-trick pony.

He rolls 23 dice for pistols, 20 dice for his monowhip, 11 dice for passive dodge, and 19 dice for actively dodging bullets. Also 13 dice for infiltration, aided by his chameleon suit.

The only optional rule coming into play is the one that cosmetic surgery can increase Charisma up to +3. Also assuming that wired reflexes and reaction enhancers stack.

I most humbly submit Doc Ripper. (Don't drink the water! They're adding chemicals to it that'll turn you into a wageslave!)

Did Binky take an AT Rocket? We can fix him. We have the medical skills.

Doc Ripper specialises in healing the most damage possible, reliably. He can heal up to 10 boxes of damage with First Aid thanks to his boosted skill, and he has all the tricks to push his DP up. He is also an absolute genius intellect, which makes you wonder why he's 'running instead of working magic in a clinic.

All I can say about Doc Ripper is that he highlight exactly why a lot of people think that the First Aid Rules are extremely broken...
With someone like him, Hospitals become obsolete...

And animes. There is no life-threatening injury that can't be healed by a day or two of bed rest and a good wrapping of band-aids wink.gif

So, no one ever answered on if we are including karmagen characters in this or not. And if so, can we use the old karmagen rules?

When you mend flesh and bone with magic, hospitals are rather obsolete. That is, if you have access to it.

Heck, look at my binky, i don't even understand the rules, it's basically just a pretty much insane and probably rules illegal but logical concept . .

Anything in any official rulebook. The GM agrees to anything *g* So you could use the Karmagen like it is done in the Companion.

What on earth is a pornomancer!?!
Stahlseele
A pornomancer is someone who can turn any social test into a multi race multi person orgy just by shmoozing around . .
Basically, 40 to 50 dice in social tests. He could piss on the mafia dons mother and the mafia don would offer his daughter for marriage . .

Single Person Orgies are very viable in Shadowrun i am afraid.
Also, no, he would not offer her up for marriage to someone who just wet his mother.
Well, if he isn't into that stuff at least . .
