Here's some of the information on the DataChip Matsu Hideki gave you:
The girl's name is "Faru"; at least, that's the name Gifu Sho knows her by. He admits that he doesn't know her last name for certain, but believes he's heard her called "Shesu Faru" in the past. She is of Japanese descent, but Sho believes the the girl was American born. A trideo image, captured by Gifu Sho's own cybereyes, is also included for reference.
Some of Dr. Gifu's other eye-recordings are also available; one details the interior of the House of White Flowers, which is a very traditional tea house and upscale club in Seattle which often features japanese-influenced CalFree surf rock bands.
I'm sure there's plenty of information you're all after, and I know I'll never be able to outline it all off the top of my head. So feel free to ask me questions, and I'll determine whether or not the answers can be found within the Security Report.

Hmmm. So this job is apparently non-negotiable. You all realize that we just got stuck between pissing off Hideki and pissing off the yakuza, right?
Mmmmm gritty.
Hideki knows who we are and will provide 35K
The Yaks don't know who we are yet.

Got no problems with moving it along so everyone can get involved but let me ask a few questions.
Is this the usual MO for Mr Johnson?
Is the price fair?
Or is he having us hurried out because he has another appointment?
Maybe we should keep him under observation discretely?

I'm trying to decide what Sam would do. Seeing those two being man-handled would have done nothing for the ork's cool. "Just following orders" and the like don't mean much to him, he'll shoot the two outside if they get rough or get loud. Luckily for them he has SnS loaded...
I think you are slightly overreacting there... as milk ducks wrote... they weren't really being rough, but just firm.
Still not really the best manners, but Hideki obviously thinks of himself to be highly superior (which by his position isn't so far off even, as things are).

He is overreacting. He has a problem with the japanese as it is, and this was an insult firm or otherwise. It's enough to torque him off.
Besides, if he was sending away his muscle and some fella jumps him he'd be out thousands of nuyen. There's that part of it too.

Hmm... I don't really think the bodyguards would escort the two further than to the entrance of the booth (or whatever restricted area he is in). They surely won't throw them out of the club.

If I read it wrong I'll fix it. I thought it was an escort all the way out or at least farther off to send them on their way.
But it seems a bit unnecessary to manhandle them out of a booth no?

Yeah, it's absolutely unnecessary. But I thought it would best illustrate how much of an asshole Matsu Hideki is. And, to be fair, I think "manhandling" might be a bit much. Like I said before, Hideki motioned his guards in, and they firmly (not roughly or rudely) took hold of Rev and Nest0 to help them out of the booth. It wasn't so much a "toss them out on their asses" sort of thing; more like a "now kindly get the fuck out of my presence" sort of thing.
The PCs have ever right to get shitty about it, but it wasn't like, an open threat or anything.

I liked that piece of pick-pocketing. Maybe next time you can slip something else too? Maybe that'd be more 'trickster' than 'rat'.
So to clarify you guys are being firmly escorted out of the booth. Not the Juju itself. I'll clarify Sam's post for now.

Yep, the goons only helped them out of the booth, not out of the club itself. I know there was some confusion in that, and I apologize if that's my fault. Seems fine now, though. Also, I'm late mentioning it, but I'm gonna go ahead and award everyone an additional karma point, whether they posted 3 times this week or not.

Alright, so the negotiations are over. Lets talk plan:
-- Anybody have any contacts or knowledge skills that apply?
-- Maybe someone with a decent Data Search skill could get us some info on Dr. Gifu?
-- We should probably put some eyes (or better yet, surveillance drones) on this bunraku parlor and start keeping tabs on their comings and goings. Specifically, we need to figure out if the girls are housed on site or if they ever leave.
-- I don't think we should march in an start asking about Gifu and Faru. As I suggested above I think we send someone in as a "customer" and leak some misinformation to see how the Yaks respond.
-- Any other ideas?
Here is a knowledge roll for Hollywood to see if he know anything about this particular Yakuza operation:

The yak don't outsource their muscle do they?
A few of our characters could become new clients. Not just one person, but several. Only one does the 'leaking' if you'll forgive me.
Also, can we do anything to get the inside scoop with Matsu and these people? Know what's really going on?

Yep, that sounds like a good idea. Only problem here is, that the person(s) (and an appropriate Fake SIN) will then be known to the Yaks, which could potentially cause further problems, if the link (between the 'customer' and the 'runner') is made.

No contacts either. We can case the place for outside security and devise a way for NestO to break in, as going in the front door really isnt NestO's style (sounds dirty considering we're talking about a bunraku parlor
). Any way we look at it, the best approach is a stealth approach.

I have a lowlife Fixer contact that may have Japanese connections. It's with the corps, though Mitsuhama is tied to the yaks. The thing is the Fixer keeps that secret from Sam lest Sam does something rash.
Sam will ask though, he's the only shadow contact he really has. No data search or anything like that. We don't gots no deckers.

Hollywood has a yakuza contact- a gun dealer with some yak ties, but his loyalty is only 1 so we'd have to be real careful about how we utilize him (i.e.- if we ask the wrong questions it could get back to the yaks). He might be able to give us a "referral" to the bunraku parlor tho.

Nov 6 2009, 03:12 AM
I think the best, non traceable way is to scope it out and break in.

Nov 6 2009, 03:54 AM
Every other way exposes alot more of the team. We either need to buff our way in, and possibly get made (identified) or sneak in. Sneaking in gives the added benefit of suprise if I get caught as my rescuers bust in for me. We'll have still not tipped our hand. Its just a suggestion.
Or, a combination of bluffing and sneak in, might offer more exit strategies.

Hey guys. I'm sorry I've been gone for so long, it was never my intention to leave you hanging. I'll be honest; there was a period of pretty much total inactivity in the thread, and I interpreted that as nobody having any fun with the story. I kept checking back in, and there was some random chatter here on the OOC thread, but the IC page didn't move. It slipped off the first page, and didn't come back. Maybe you guys were having fun, and were just busy doing other things, but to me, it felt like maybe my stuff just wasn't any good. As a result, I kinda shied away from the forums a bit.
I honestly felt really bad when I logged in today and saw people asking if or when I'd resurface. I do really apologize for that, I guess I just felt like nobody would care if the story stopped moving entirely, you know what I mean? And look, if this is something you guys still really wanna do, I'll make time for it. I was enjoying writing this story up, I just kinda got burned out when the interest started to fade.
I'll leave it up to you guys where to go from here.

I wouldn't read so much into it. This seems to be the natural course of PbP games- there's always a lot of enthusiasm as a game gets started and then things inevitably slow down. This is kinda the usual pace for a PbP game.

Yeah, with PbP you really have to expect that sometimes things are not moving fast (and with the upcoming holidays, this will definitely happen more). Sometimes everyone waits for everyone else to make a post... which isn't a good idea.
I would definitely like to continue.

My GMing experience is all F2F, but it is a hard balancing act, between keeping the game moving and giving everyone a chance to shine.
I know that some times, my character will be part of the action and some times other characters will be in the spot light.
The big think, I see is players need to keep checking in.
Just a one liner to let everyone know that you are still there and approve of the direction the other characters are going in, helps keep the game going.
