I had to get permission from my wife for this one (who I actually met MUDding).

[ Spoiler ]

We also seriously considered naming our first daughter after a derivative of her MUD character's name.

Edit: Ever had one of those experiences when you wrote something on a public forum and just realized some people might feel its a bit more information than they wanted to hear?

I once pretended to be from Seattle to chit-chat with a cute girl at a kiosk, who was from Everett.

I can just imagine that... "Yeah, so I have some friends over in Redmond. They hope to get enough money to move somewhere nice in a couple years. And uh... you hear about that arcology?"
Ancient History
I'm a bit better of a liar than that, thank you very much.

*Shoots Toturi, then roasts him along with his Carebear friends*

Besides, I think they'd be Toxic in Shadowrun.

"Carebears Toxic Wave! 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!" silly.gif

ROFLMAO

Dude, um...dude.

Even my old GM who insisted on dragging his pet (yes, they had a wierd relationship) to games wasn't quite that bad.

Hey, it works(ed)...more power to you. grinbig.gif

If it's any comfort, the original name was Catalynn and the daughter's name was Caitlin (not too weird). We ended up throwing out the idea, both because there are a bajillion 'Caitlins' out there, and because our first child happened to be male. Now we're just dealing with the fact that my boy names are things like Galahad, Vladimir, Caleb, Pascal... My wife has decided the name will be Nicolas (or Nikolai), and I'm restricted to choosing the middle name : P

Well, there was the time (okay, several) when I've almost not let the elevator guy in at work because I was too willied out by the hat that says KRUPP on it. There's the fact that, in my house, any time one of us has a particular talent for something, we refer to it as a + whatever-number edge in that skill (for instance, I have a +1 advantage in power shopping and one of my roommates has a +2 in BS). We also accidentally fall into character at random times and bust out laughing at IC jokes when in public (there's a thing we do in malls that's funny as hell). And there's always the time that we freaked out because an u marked black helicopter overflew our car on the freeway (our big bad enemy had a fleet of those) and once when we saw a man in a business suit running for no apparent reason, we wrote it off as whatver was chasing him just hadn't manifest yet.

Yeah- I live in a house of SR geeks. Gosh I love Washington!

While in large public places like shopping malls, my roommate and I have a habit we fall into. One of us falls four steps back and two to one side of the other. Combined with the "constantly roving eyes never looking in the same direction at the same time" look, it seems to put the rent-a-cops on edge.

I also once walked out of a comic shop with ~$1000 in out-of-print SR material that I payed about $120 for. I love the discount used bin. $3.95 a book. <gloat>Mint condition UB</gloat>

I was listening to The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, and he referenced "Super Tuesday". Two guesses as to the first thing that came to mind.

My friends constantly do the whole "Looks like you failed your _____ roll!" I've wisely refused to participate in this practice however. I've gotten to the point where I'm reading news on new technology just hoping for a datajack. Personally, I want a datajack or four, chipjack (4-slot at least), headware memory, Encephlon, and MathSPU. I can listen to music anytime I want from the headware memory without anyone saying crap about it, and I'll be kicked out of every casino within driving distance after I hit the blackjack tables.

My worst moment, though, would have to have been when I had a good 30 minute or so conversation with a guy about small unit tactics thinking he was refering to Shadowrun/d20 Modern/some video game, then suddenly realized through his tattoos that he was a Marine and he was talking about real life. I bet he was probably wondering where a pudgy guy like me learned about Standard 2x2 Cover Formation...

BTW, I'm currently waiting on the Universal Brotherhood to send me some pamphlets about their organization...I can't remember the website for them though...

Bah, that happens to me all the time. Then I just say "My dad was in the Corps" and people shut up.
Kagetenshi
Did anyone else read "corps" as short for corporations?

In Singapore? If the other person is a guy? We don't even bother, maybe we'll ask,"Which unit?" But that would be it.

I don't know which scares me worse...the UB or Aztechnology selling to the US, Canadian, and Japanese governments...

The Abstruse One

The Aztechnology one is not nearly as disturbing as the UB one... Why in the world do they need a Bio-sketch from prospective ministers?
