JP.. How defensive is the "defensive" .. because he'll probably do that with the idea that he'd rather shoot out the window.
A voice chimes in your comm: "Defensive driving means taking pains to ensure that you don't cause any collisions, and if a collision is immanent, avoiding it as safely as possible."

I assume Cruiser's bike and Pilot have a similar "defensive driving mode"?
If yes, what would Cruiser need to roll if he allowed his bike's Pilot to take control and bike swerves hard to avoid a collision?
I ask becasue Pilot is same rating as my skill in Groundcraft, so might as well try and shoot while bike runs itself. Is that possible?

There's no rule for it that I'm aware of, I'll say that there are enough safety devices in a modern motorcycle to allow him to stay aboard short of a crash on the part of the bike. He will be at a -3 dice to hit anything while in or on a moving vehicle, just like anyone else.

Basic defense for vehicles:
Reaction +/- Handling for meat drivers
Pilot +/- Handling for driving itself
Full Defense for vehicles:
Reaction + Pilot <vehicletype> +/- Handling for meat drivers
Pilot + Defense autosoft +/- Handling for driving itself

Yes, I will be investigating some house rules on car chases if they ever come up in the future. The ones in SR4A are a bit... hinky. With a difference of four pursuers, you'd have to be Eval Fricken Kineval to get away most of the time.
To be honest, I would consider it highly dubious, if we even had a chance to outrun a bunch of (likely much better skilled in driving) go-gangers on bikes with a jackrabbit.

I'm not sure, if the autopilot can actually drive the bike alone without those Motorcycle Gyro Stabilization upgrade from Arsenal.

Cruiser did not install a Gyroscope Stabilization upgrade on his bike. So if he cannot shoot and stay on the bike, then he will overtake the jackrabbit and use it as cover. Will let Warden, Ghost and Lyle handle the bikers!

I doubt the car has a big enough die pool to survive a drive off the road attempt.
So we probably should be slowing down. Unless of course we get lucky with the shooting.
JP what's our initiative order, cause uh.. we're all leaning out shooting

well except for me, I have 4 dice for shooting normally

so -4 for range and moving puts me at more likely to shoot myself.

You can drive with one hand and shoot with the other, or not? That would be the -3 modifier, I believe.

I'm not that much better, but I still have some dice left after the modifiers... I can zoom in for the range, though, and take aim once, then fire a single shot, that should be 6 dice left to shoot. Should be ok.

Gyroscopes add a handling modifier in the event of a crash and also mean they don't fall over when parked.
sabs
Jan 7 2011, 04:12 PM
You know, I can zoom in too, and I have a lasersight.
So, 5 dice -3, 2 dice! woot

I can also unfold the stock, to get recoil comp, so I could fire 2 shots at 2 dice! muahahahahah.

Jan 7 2011, 04:17 PM
You are using a single-handed weapon, Cruiser, so I think that's fine to shoot and drive at the same time.
Normally the first step is to see if they can close the distance, but as you're both dropped to zero dice, we'll assume that they do.
Initiative is in this order:
Cruiser
Ghost
Gang
Rick
Warden
If you're driving, you must use at least one IP to maintain control of the vehicle - the same test as above, but without the -8 modifier.

If the Pilot is driving?
Can you roll for the Jackrabbit?
Response 3, Pilot 1, + defensive driving (what ever that means)

One success. But as all it's doing is effectively pulling over as if for a fire truck, that's sufficient. And I'd forgotten you were both using the onboard piloting, so ignore the using one IP for a piloting roll. The computer can handle that.

The problem isn't just that it's a miss.... it's that it's a critical glitch. Please roll one more die, to see if you can get a single hit to avoid the critical glitch.
sabs
Jan 7 2011, 05:06 PM
How is it a critical glitch?
He only has 3 1's out of 9 dice.

Why is it a glitch? I have 3 "1's" on 9 dice, so another 1 would still only be 4, which is less than half the dice pool.
Additional die roll: 1 dice ==>
1d6.hits(5) → [2] = (0)So still a miss. But was not a "1"

Do you know, I've misread the glitch rules since I started playing this game? I read it as more failures than successes, not more than half failures. Maybe I borrowed that from another system? I dunno... but that does make them rarer than my way does!
Yup, either way that's a clean miss.

Ok, then it's my turn, I guess... they are at close range now, did I read that right?
The car is still driving, so still the -3, yes?
Ghost will just fire two shots then, I guess.
She has 8 dice total (5 Agility, 1 Pistols, 2 Smartlink), -3 for the movement for a total of 5 (and 4 for the second shot, because of the recoil).
Let's see...
1st shot
2 hits (Base DV 8P, AP +5)
2nd shot
2 hits (Base DV 8P, AP +5)
Both go against the same ganger (just the closest one).
