Is there anything official that says that it becomes obvious that you're using a soft to speak a language? I mean, stilted, cold, textbook perfect, perhaps?

AFAIK, there's nothing special. But you can certainly rule that going with Linguasofts makes you sound a little...robotic. The higher the rating, the less an issue it is, of course. When you call AT&T's info line, it sounds like a real human being, but it's really a machine. An incredibly human-sounding machine.

I would say it would be obvious:
Except I have Linguistics and Mnemonir Enhancement. Which really should soften the obviousness of it.

It's quite possible I sound very much like someone who learned Dakota from a Tutorsoft though.

What you think Faraday.. think we got a shot at this?

Btw.. JP.. if my etiquette roll makes me t hink I should have said something else, I'll edit. I just wanted to put my first blush idea out there.

Well maybe. I'll roll some teamwork dice to maybe help you out.

and Cruiser smile.gif is well.. Cruiser.. he's still so hung up about Knight Errant, he can't see straight.

Just catching up on all the posts. So what's wrong with Cruiser nyahnyah.gif ? He's awesome! I haven't been following Team 2's antics. What's up?

I love Cruiser...

But he's too hung up on KE and his own anger to be a very effective leader smile.gif
THough really, I personally wouldn't count out Ghost.. She's a good combatant, and a good face.

I have one word to sum up her combat abilities.

FATALITY

Exactly.

Heck, for all we know, Pedro will turn out to be 'that guy' that we all follow his lead.

Right now we've had a lot of social, and Rick is comfortable with social so he's stepped up. IF we have to plan an extraction, Rick's going to be like.. uh.. what?
Thanee
Heh. biggrin.gif

It seems like you are talented at spoofing other people. It's more difficult for somebody who dresses like a priest to convince a Sioux bartender that he's a Johnson. Maybe use the next karma for a Con pool?
sabs
I'm saving up karma to buy a 4 influence which is sadly 40 karma.

Not sure what the rule is.. if I put a specialty on CON, can I still raise the group? or do I have to switch to individual skill raisings
Von
Since my Cha is 5, what would my rolls be for Influence-related tests (since I have no skills in that group)? Would I get 9 dice, or much less than that?

With no skills, you default to your stat -1, so you'd still get 4 dice, but you're not going to be nearly the con man that Rick is.

Good news for you! It's 'only' 20 Karma. wink.gif

Officially, you have to break the group up before you can apply a specialization.

But IIRC we had that topic before... but maybe I am mixing that up with another game.

Ah ok thanks! Yeah I figured as much biggrin.gif

I think I remember it, but it might be in a different game where Thanee and I are playing. smile.gif

My gut says that you can specialize without breaking the group, but if you try to advance an individual skill, the group breaks.
J. Packer
Let's have a Con roll from Lyle Johnson. If you want Warden to assist, I'll need some sort of RP from him before you make your roll.
sabs
Updated my post with a spoiler tag with the roll.

Wish those charisma enhancing cyber weren't so expensive.

She's legit. Your non-NAN status is playing against you, you can tell that for sure. She seems defensive, but not for herself...

Mm, so how much of our pay are we willing to use to bribe the Black Cats with smile.gif
Thanee
LOL, I doubt we got the cash to bribe them out of that deal, depending on how much of the cake will be theirs. wink.gif

I still think they're not part of the Ransom.

Thanee
If that is so, then we might have at least some common ground there. smile.gif

But if the blackmailing is not part of the deal they are in, and they were hired for an extraction... then they sure want to deliver the guy.

Question is, how do we figure out, whether they are or not.

Bye
Thanee
sabs
But we might not care if he gets delivered.
We want to make sure the blackmail doesn't happen.
That's the important part.

I'm not sure Falcone cares about B coming back, just about his reputation.

Thanee
Yeah, what I thought is (assuming all this is right, of course... we could still be completely off on that one biggrin.gif), that we might get their interest if someone was using them (or their job) for the blackmailing, and considering how touchy they are, they sure won't like that one bit.

So, if we cooperate, we could stop that blackmailing issue together and then figure out a way that Falcone gets out clean and B gets (back) to the Cats (in case Falcone needs him to be there, maybe that is not even necessary).

Result: everyone is happy! smile.gif

Ok, maybe not quite everyone, but everyone we care for. wink.gif

Bye
Thanee

That's what I'm hoping too

Assuming of course that we're right on point 1.
If we're wrong, things could get very ugly.
Faraday
Jessie likes things ugly.

the guy with 1 ip and a 5 combat pool likes things.. smooooth smile.gif

Well I don't want to scare off the ladies, really, so we'll treat 'em with kid gloves.

besides, being on speaking terms with another runner team can't be a bad idea
Faraday
I'll be sure to just load SNS rounds. wink.gif

Shoot first, ask questions later smile.gif

I was thinking of maybe going invisible, probably going to mind probe the heck out of the leader

Don't pull anything too crazy unless we have to. Just sayin.
sabs
And we're not going to do anything until we know what we're facing.

If one of them is a Shaman.. you could upset them.
J. Packer
You have some time to kill before the meet. Please direct the IC thread to indicate what you want to do with that time. You can all discuss it OOC first, of course.
Isinghar
any response from Peaches or Carlos?
Von

3 or 4 net hits (SR4 mind probe's hits required to gain access to all info a target consciously knows) shouldn't be so bad, especially if I spend a point of edge, but I won't use the mind probe unless absolutely necessary. Just throwing it out there as an option so you know what my char can do.
Von
Alright so we have two hours and 45 minutes till our meeting with the black cats. How can we best spend our time? Hammerjack is a decking issue, so I'm useless on that one. If we find out that the blackmailing has nothing to do with the actual kidnapping, we can just let Falcone know about Hammerjack. I think getting Belenkiy back is our priority numero uno. We may just have to wait for our meeting to find out where he is, but what is our contingency plan for dealing with the Black Cats? We will need arms and armor because they are Shadowrunners and we must be prepared to fight them.

I like Thanee's idea to let the Black Cats know about the blackmailing. That could put them on our side and make it more likely to give up the package. Although if they are truly professional, they will probably defend their package to the death to complete their job. (although what if they decide they like the idea playing along with the ransom and sending another message to Falcone (assuming they have his commcode or some other means to leave a note)?
sabs
Yeah, I need to try and do some chatting up with Hammerjack. but I'm not sure how to best go about that.
sabs
Keep an eye on the time-stamps smile.gif
we're travellign in time again.

Padre does have Assensing as a skill, which is just shifting his vision to the astral without full-on astral projection.
Thanee
Err... no, that's Astral Perception and does not require a skill.

Assensing is the skill to make sense out of all the pretty colors. biggrin.gif

Ah, yes. A fine distinction, but an accurate one.
J. Packer
Okay, going to give a little time this morning if you have any more to hash out. If not, I'll write up a blurb about the time passing and get to the meet schedule, including any last minute bits of info coming in.
Von
I'm not sure there's too much planning to be done until we know where Belenkiy is...

Pretty much. Just a matter of who actually comes out and visits with the ladies. We may not want to tip our hand entirely.

Maybe Rick, Pedro, and Warden visit with the ladies while cruiser and ghost act as backup?
Von
Sounds good, although I'm not sure how we're going to bring up Belenkiy in conversation with the Black Cats. Guess we'll have to see how they respond to our presence.
